Good location, all the staff were lovely. Good choice at breakfast, best scrambled eggs I’ve had in a long while.

Unfortunately the bed wasn’t very comfortable and the shower head needs replacing.

Having an entire flat meant we could wash clothes, cook and iron.

Bit off-putting that room key opened building front door as well as flat front door - wondered if other flat occupants could access ours. Did check at reception though and was reassured this was not the case. Some derelict and unsightly buildings nearby

Room very disappointing, small and uninspiring. Small double bed with very soft mattress. Mould on window edges. Bathroom door sticking. Shower difficult to work, i managed it but my wife didn't.

There was nothing to not like

We had one of the apartments a few doors down from the hotel, that were very comfortable. We had breakfast and an evening meal in the hotel, where the staff were very friendly.

The one bed apartment was next to the hotel. Very clean including towels and bed linen and comfy bed. The property was adequately furnished and equipped (enough for our 2 night stay). The staff were lovely. We ate in the hotel both nights and food excellent. Breakfast also extremely good and freshly cooked. Very dog friendly. Free parking on the road outside the hotel. Would recommend

Some of the windows didn’t close. We should have asked but not cold so ok but if do close is very difficult and the handles quite high to reach

We enjoyed our stay at Mackays Hotel in Wick. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel is well situated for exploring the area. However, there are a couple of aspects that could be improved. The mattresses in our room were old and worn, which affected the quality of our sleep. In addition, the curtains were not very practical and did not block out the early morning light effectively, which can be challenging during the Scottish summer when daylight starts very early. With some attention to these issues, the overall guest experience would be significantly improved.

Dinner at night was delicious. Very efficient and friendly staff. Breakfast next morning was everything we could have wanted. A wide choice of dishes and served well.

The one night price was disproportionately more than half the two night price, that we originally booked. As for a quiet room, I didn’t request one during the booking process, I didn’t have any preference, so the question above was a bit irrelevant.

Although generally clean with fresh towels and bedding the apartments were pretty tired and shocking.

From the booking it was not clear to me that the booked apartment is outside the hotel in another building, I booked the hotel stay very early and expected to have a hotel room instead of a full apartment. The fully equipped apartment is probably fully ok for a family with self cooking ambitions but totally oversized for a one night stay of a couple. would be better to have this made clear during the booking already.

We stayed in one of their apartments which had a separate kitchen area with cooker, microwave etc. also a separate living room. The apartment was clean and warm with the staff friendly and helpful

Disappointed that they couldn't accommodate us for dinner until 8.30. But we found an excellent pizza/pasta restaurant in town

The additional space and facilities of the apartment over a hotel room was very welcome

Fantastic hotel in the centre of wick. Clean, comfortable and a brilliant breakfast that was cooked to order. Staff also very friendly.

Thought the property was very dated, and in desperate need of upgrading. Mattress that I slept on was terrible and shouldn’t be used anymore, this was reported on checking out. Definitely not worth £192 for the night.

My first room smelt strongly of the previous occupants. However the hotel changed it immediately with no fuss and the next room was great.

A hotel of character……spotlessly clean, room had everything anyone could want and very spacious….. The service and food quality in the restaurant was superb!!! A must stay if in Wick. Congrats to all staff.

Perfect location 2 mins from train station. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Room was not quiet. Could clearly hear people coming and going from the other rooms. Could clearly hear the toilet and shower from room next door - the shower next door was especially noisy and bothersome, especially when the occupant used it late at night - sounded like being in a washing machine and kept me awake for a good while. At about 0500/0530 the next morning there was banging and clattering from downstairs - possibly preparations for breakfast. Overall - it wasn't the best sleep I've had.

Wick was a disappointment - it has seen better days and is now very run down Don't expect to get a choice of places to eat, especially at lunch time

GReat hotel, one which we have stayed at before - we travelled with another two couples who also loved it.

This is a lovely little hotel. Food was good, staff were generally very pleasant and efficient. I was in one of the apartments which was spacious and clean. Very comfortable bed. Location was ideal for me. If I'm back in Wick I will stay there again.

Nothing really. I had a bit of a problem with the shower but resolved that. It was user error! The bedroom was very cold when I arrived and I had to play around with the radiator to resolve that but minor issue.
