Grand Millennium Shanghai HongQiao

Excellent hotel with outstanding service. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout my stay.

Before my arrival, I sent an email to the hotel with a specific request, but unfortunately, I did not receive a response.

Frühstück super lecker und Lage zur Metrostation “Shuicheng” an der Linie 10 mit rund 8-10 Minuten Entfernung ideal. Es gibt bspw. 3 Tagespässe für die Metro direkt an der Station zum Kaufen. Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber und luxeriös sowie 1.5l Wasser sind immer auf dem Zimmer pro Tag.

Check-in ab 14:00 Uhr erst möglich (man könnte ja das Prozedere erledigen und die Zimmernummer erst ab 14:00 Uhr aushändigen), wir haben um 14:15 Uhr mehr als 45 Minuten im Chaos gewartet, eine echte Zumutung, zudem spricht die Hälfte des Personals limitiert oder kein Englisch. Weiter ist der Wellness Bereich in die Jahre gekommen, gerade beim Innenpool sichtbare Schäden um das Becken herum, rostige Liegen und kaputte Rattanmöbel, sehr schade eigentlich. Mit wenig Renovationen könnte man dies beheben, bitte unbedingt machen, wertet das Hotel unnötig ab. Badekappe unbedingt nicht vergessen. SPA bei den Frauen aber sehr sauber und total in Ordnung. Insgesamt waren wir sehr zufrieden.

The bed was comfortable and the location is great; just a few steps away from the metro that takes you to the city centre and the airport. The breakfast is also good.

I was a bit disappointed, as I had stayed in this hotel before and, having booked the same room type this time, I was assigned a much lower-quality room on this occasion. Apparently, I was given a free upgrade the first time I visited, but nobody had informed me. The bathroom of this king room was very old fashioned, and there was no bathtub (contrary to the room description). The hairdryer was also not up to standard.

The staff was very helpful and courteous.

It was an excellent place .

We found the check-in process very stressful due to misunderstandings about the payment and deposit - which happens, but we found the staff to be rude as we tried to resolve it. We also have still not received our deposit back after 2 weeks, which seems poor.

My stay at Millennium Shanghai Hongqiao was excellent. The room was very spacious, comfortable, airy and bright. It also gave me the tranquil and serene feeling. The staff were polite, pleasant and friendly.

It was not in the city center, but taxi is so cheap in China.

The breakfast buffet is excellent with a wide variety of choices including western style breakfast, Chinese dishes, eggs made to order, and fresh fruit and vegetables.

The wifi seems quite restrictive as to which sites are accessible. I understand that the Chinese government controls which sites are approved and which are not, but it seemed restrictive even in light of that.

Centrally located, Huge foyer and lovely big rooms. Nice big bathrooms. Very comfortable stay. Wish we could upload videos as well.

The layout of the 40m2 room. We need to keep the bathroom door open all the time. The placement of the tub is awkward and makes it difficult for us to get in and out of the bathroom area. We like to keep the bathroom doors closed. Every time we want to get into the bathroom to wash our hands, we have to squeeze past the tub. Not convenient

Staff were helpful and kind

we moved to three rooms because we were unable to regulate the heat nor the AC. During the day the room was very warm on one side of the hotel but we could not regulate the AC and hardly slept at night because it was so hot in the room. We moved to the other side and it was too cold during the day be we could not regulate the heat. This is a common problem in China because it's a communist country that regulates everything. BUT to pay Western prices I expect Western conveniences like being able to turn the heat up or down to get the comfort level I prefer.

My receipt at the front desk was a young intern. That is not a problem, but she could not answer my basic question and the attitude was not friendly.

Spacious room

We previously stayed at the Beijing Howard Johnson, a 4-star hotel, and the difference compared to this 5-star hotel was quite significant. On the positive side, the room was spacious and well-equipped with amenities. However, the service quality did not meet 5-star standards. When ordering food delivery, we had to collect it ourselves from a locker. Similarly, when receiving Taobao parcels, I had to walk about 100 meters in the dark to a remote spot to retrieve them. Although I didn’t request full housekeeping service, I did ask for the bins to be cleared. I even placed them outside to avoid disturbing my partner, yet the staff handled it noisily and carelessly, waking him up. Overall, this property does not live up to a 5-star rating. Additionally, the location is quite inconvenient — there’s no nearby public transport, and getting to the main town area takes about 30 minutes.
