Lost count of how many times we’ve stayed at Salt of Palmar on our visits to Mauritius now. Perfect adult only boutique hotel with beautiful beachfront. The staff and service are just brilliant. They were so helpful. Shout out to the Chef Siva for his kindness to provide some locally made herbal tea for when we were unwell. We’ll be back :)
The Salt of Palmer can be a decent hotel with a few changes. The overall feeling is warm and inviting. The biggest areas of improvement include the attentiveness of staff, the smell of the rooms, and the dining options. The staff will not attend to you unless you specifically ask them. An example would be sitting in the dining area for 30 minutes as they all walk past and do not ask to take your order. If you are sensitive to smells, you must know that the rooms smell like mildew. Given that the hotel is on the beach, I expected there to be some sort of smell, but the smell was a bit overwhelming for me. The menu is rather limited and for certain hours of the day (2 pm-7 pm) you are only able to order from approximately three appetizers.
Lovely rooms , real ground coffee in the room ! Felt safe , lovely little touches around the property. If you don’t have a car you might be a bit limited but taxis are available. Plenty of parking at the hotel and car park outside. Breakfast was really good ,
Hotellissa on upeat puitteet rauhalliseen ja romanttiseen lomaan. Vietimme 10 päivää häämatkaa. Meille kuitenkin tuli hieman yllätyksenä kuinka kaukana hotelli on kaikesta. Jokapaikkaan pitää mennä taksilla ja matkaa on aika pitkästi eri nähtävyyksiin. Hotellin henkilökunnalle erityiskiitos ystävällisestä palvelusta. Myös ruoka oli todella hyvää.
Perfekt
Tolle Strandlage, tolle Hotelarchitektur, super Essen
Bellissimo boutique hotel
Hotel super consigliato!!!
Sehr schönes Hotel in toller Lage.
The food was pretty decent aside from getting Food poisoning and (separately) finding frozen meat in my meal. Awkward check-in experience. Service was very average. All-inclusive was quite limited.
We travelled from Australia and stayed at this beautiful hotel in Mauritius, let me tell you hands down this is one of the best hotels I have been to with breathtaking sea views, private beach, beautifully unique designed hotel and best five star in class service. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed with a friendly smile. All the staff were very helpful and the food was absolutely delicious. Thank you to the reception staff and management for helping us plan our days accordingly to what we liked. Thank you to security at the front of the hotel for your exceptional service and friendly smiles each day. Thank you to the hotel staff for ensuring our room was clean and tidy to perfection each day. There is one highlight that we will never forget which is the dine in at the Tek Tek restaurant with our own private chef. The six course menu was inspired by the islands rich culture and let me tell you the food was on another level with the combination of flavours the dishes were perfection. Each dish was made with love from the Chef. Thank you Chef Shiva and Helper Karan for the most wonderful night and dine in experience you both made our experience staying at Mauritius incredible. We hope to see you both again soon. If you would like a luxurious stay I definitely recommend staying at this hotel. 🙂
Sejour parfait , magnifique hotel calme extrement bien placé. Nous recommandons
Exceptional all-adults boutique hotel located perfectly on the quiet, relaxing East coast of beautiful Mauritius island. I had the pleasure of enjoying 5 nights in the “Best on Beach” room category complete with outdoor terrace with sun bed and a separate balcony overlooking the majestic Indian Ocean. As a vegan, the chefs and culinary team curated delicious vegan meals that far exceeded my expectations. Every meal was flavorful, unique, healthy, and prepared with fresh, quality locally sourced ingredients. There is a garden on-site where many of the ingredients come from to create the amazing meals. The staff here is simply wonderful. Shout out to Disha, Vinesh, Rajiv, Devin, Naresh, Shib, Navin, Mayur, Rajritik, Hanshi, Krishna, Raju, Kenny, Sarah, and Isabelle. Their genuine warmth, hospitality, and kindness made my solo getaway a very special and memorable experience to cherish for a lifetime. Highly recommend the beautiful SALT of Palmar all-adults boutique hotel.
The staff was amazing. The only reason why I said 4 star was because the food was a little overpriced. However, the chef for the closed dinner food was excellent. Would recommend.
Best hotel service & food we've ever had. They made it easy to feel completely comfortable. Great ambiente, nice Boutique hotel, where you can really enjoy vacation. Nice beach with snorkeling tour offered every day. We'll definitely plan to come back.
Camera vista mare arredata perfettamente con giusto spazi. Spiaggia tranquilla ben accessoriata. Cibo incredibile per varietà, materie prime e presentazione, abbiamo mangiato divinamente. Ottima la selezione di vini e alcolici. SPA piccolina ma accogliente. Torneremo, super consigliato!
Some hotels promise luxury. Others deliver warmth. Rarely do you find one that does both with such quiet brilliance as Salt of Palmar. From the moment you step through its colorful, contemporary facade, you’re not just a guest — you’re part of something special and intentional. The staff, from gardeners to guest relations, extend a level of service that is as rare as it is heartfelt. It doesn’t feel like hospitality. It feels like coming home. The food is a standout — fresh, vibrant, and elegantly plated, where even the simplest dishes surprise with gastronomic depth. The pool area is serene and stylish, on of the best beaches on the island is just steps away, and the entire property immaculate in both design and upkeep. But what truly elevates Salt is its soul. In over 500 hotels I’ve visited, few have struck this balance of beauty, authenticity, and care. We were so psyched for this place that we cancelled another booking mid-trip just to return. Salt of Palmar is more than a hotel — it’s the kind of place that stays with you, long after you leave.
: a good chef, it's not a self-service restaurant. the hotel is on the beach, with blue skies, fine sand, and a turquoise sea -: small hotel, very few activities, no music at dinner,...
Value for money can be questionable but it was good experience to stay on overall basis
This hotel is stunning. You can see for yourself from the pictures. The colours are bright and bold, the staff are friendly and attentive, and the attention to detail is unlike any other. The boat house (which is part of the hotel) offers free pedalo, kayak and glass boat rides. I’m also sure I saw bicycles outside the front which I imagine are free to use for hotel guests. There are other goings on for guests to join in on too, you just need to look at the billboard near the entrance to find something you might like. The hotel also offers free water refill which I think is a big plus. Where this loses a star for me is the food. The food was one of the big reasons we chose to stay here. I expected so much more than what I got - one because the reviews raved about it, and two because it comes at a pretty high price! The açai bowl and savoury crumpet we ordered at breakfast were small portioned and bland. Lunch the day before was no different. The only redeeming dish was the chicken curry at dinner. Regardless, we did enjoy our stay here.
Personnel sympathique .
Paradise Found: Salt of Palmar hotel. Right on the pristine shores of the beach this hotel offers an idyllic escape for those seeking sun, sand, and serenity. From the moment you arrive, you're enveloped in an atmosphere of warm hospitality and laid-back luxury. Accommodation: The rooms are more than just places to sleep; they're private oases designed with comfort and style in mind. I stayed in a bang on the beach room with a breathtaking ocean view. The room was spacious, impeccably clean, and featured modern amenities like a plush bed and a private balcony. Dining: Food lovers will rejoice at diverse culinary offerings. Amenities: Beyond the beautiful beach, the hotel offers a range of amenities to enhance your stay. The sparkling infinity pool was the perfect place to cool off after a day in the sun, and the on-site spa provided rejuvenating treatments that leaves you feeling pampered and refreshed. For the more active guests, there was a well-equipped fitness center and various water sports activities available. Service: What truly sets the hotel apart is its exceptional service. The staff members were consistently friendly, attentive, and eager to assist with any request. From reception to the housekeeping team, everyone went above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. Overall: My stay at the Salt of Palmar was extraordinary. It's the perfect destination for those seeking a luxurious beach vacation with top-notch amenities & delectable dining,
Alt var glimrende👍👍!
Very beautiful and stylish hotel, every detail well thought, clean rooms and all hotel areas well maintained. Lovely snorkelling near by, and best breakfast on the island indeed! Unfortunately we have experienced some building noises right next to the pool (they were building another restaurant during open hours?) which really disturbed our time near the pool, as well as the halls were painted at the same time limiting access to the rooms. Staff in the restaurant could benefit with some extra training and self care. Several times bodily odour could be smelled from staff at the restaurant, also orders/requests have been forgotten or wrong items brought upon ordering (eg i’ve been brought black tea twice in a row, even though I ordered herbal as can’t take caffeinated drinks). Overall we really enjoyed our stay, but sadly, inconvenient times for the building improvements and undertrained staff did not fully created a 5 star hotel experience for us.
Very chilled
Lovely hotel
The hotel is lovely with a great view of a beautiful beach and lots of nice little touches like water stations with cups so no single use plastics. Also the food is good and never a buffet. The spa is good too for a resort of this size - Sarah was amazing. Rooftop bar and a decent gym are all really nice (though I wish the roof was open during the day). Things that need fixing - the rooms weren't always really well cleaned. And the beds on the beach have seen better days. Both quite minor annoyances. The biggest issue I had was that no one addressed the rampant and annoying bad behaviour of 1. People reserving beach beds that they weren't actually using and 2. The number of people listening to tik tok on phones without using headphones.
Great customer service
Beautiful and peaceful
We had two days before our cruise left and I wanted to see Mauritius. SALT of Palmar fit the bill. The price was reasonable. I was pleasantly surprised by the attention to sustainability. Further, the attention to service and detail was impressive. the employees we so beautiful and calm and perfectly reset out 20 plus hours of stressful flying and prepared us for a more relaxing vacation!
Very relaxed vibe. Perfect if you don’t like crowded resorts. The spa services were great. Loved our stay.
I have only positives on this hotel, everything worked. Clean, friendly amazing food, enough beach chairs. Everything was on point. Cant complain about anything. Would I return, you bet!
First 5* hotel I have stayed in in mauritius with a preauthorisation charge. 6000 rupees upon checkin. Room poorly cleaned, touch points not clean and were greasy on the first night, shower drained slowly, no sauna/steam only a “salt room” which is chargeable Very cramped room and communal spaces. Old, probably used gym equipment. No turndown. Extortionate prices - making up for low room prices. No indication on menu as to how ordering works on different board basis. I had to ask. 25 minute wait to order food on first night. Asked twice - came second time I asked. Asked for late checkout. Told to check in the morning. Receive call to the room 2 hours later asking what time I am leaving tomorrow. Room cleaners spray chemicals all over the floor which left marks on my expensive slippers. Dinner menu is odd. No starter, main course. Small/medium/large - so food portions are rather large. Food however was delicious. No snacks in room. Day of checkout received a call 10 minutes before 11AM asking if I need help to checkout. Was already told I could checkout late the previous night by one of the managers. Akshaye - condescending when showing me that he was cancelling the preauthorisation. Spoke very abruptly when I was querying invoice items. Price reflects quality; this is most certainly not a 5* hotel and the rating is misleading.
Excellent
We had to wait an hour and a half to finally get checked in to the rooms.
Very nice hotel, staff made every effort to ensure our well-being. Complaints were dealt with immediately. Very nice, fine sandy beach. Good service at the hotel.
Property was great, spacious and clean rooms. Ocean location, gated with security, very friendly and responsive staff and several small amenities that was a great addition. There was nothing to complain about the resort itself and would highly recommend. The only negatives were that they refused to upgrade me given that I am a gold member and this was a VIP hotel. I was told that I was upgraded given that our room was facing the parking lot. THEY LIED TO ME. The hotel sent me an email to upgrade to ocean view for a fee, of course. I had the full board package and on the day of check out I asked if we could have lunch since our flight was at 9:30 pm. They asked if I had lunch when we checked in to which I said yes. I was told that I had to pay for lunch on check out day. Felt that I was being nickle and dimed for what was otherwise a fantastic resort. Left me with a sour impression of the staff.
Great food, restaurant by the pool is great. Pool area very nice. enjoyed the beach access and view. had a boutique feel
- Entry level 5 star hotel - Changed room upon check-in (sewer smell) - No Platinum upgrade nor amenities - Burnt my mouth with boiling espresso - Waiter served me bad and dropped a food plate on me - Gym is terrible, 1 treadmill, 2 bikes and an elliptical. These are very tired, these were probably bought used. - Staff are friendly and trying hard, but you can tell they have no training - Hotel is super remote, nothing much to do outside.
Great everything just should have a microwave and refrigerator in rooms
Thank you
Nice hotel, but food and wine costs more than in Paris!
Great hotel. All inclusive with very good food ordered from a menu not from a buffet. Comfortable room with good shower. The hotel is small with nice grounds but no long walks along the beach as you soon reach the property next door. Perfect for our 3 day stopover en route to Australia
Super Unterkunft.
Superb facility, staff and amenities. Beautiful clean beach with negligible coral and stones. Safe surroundings and great French cuisine choices. The staff are there to satisfy your needs. Expedia status and benefits are not honoured and they were unaware that my booking was for All Inclusive- so I had to pay an extra 1000 Euros for breakfast and dinner for 7 days. It was difficult to contact Expedia to address this issue- they had not responded after 7 days to my concerns.
Good Value for money. Considered design and focus on experiential travel. A perfect alternative to stuffy resorts dotted across the island. Still falls short on customer experience due to evident training gaps and lack of organisation but if addressed it could really stand out in a sea of mediocre luxury wannabe hotels on the island.
Stunning hotel, beautiful decor, location on the beach, staff were excellent. I’d definitely stay again!
Wow! This hotel is an absolute dream. We would move in tomorrow. If we could describe it in three words they would be: Boojee. Fashionable. Delicious. It has the ultimate Soho House vibes. Special thanks to the amazing staff Viana Ved, Vinesh, Angel and the BRILLIANT Akhilesh who went above and beyond to ensure our honeymoon was nothing short of amazing. Thank you! The location of this hotel is a piece of paradise in itself, with breathtaking views of the crystal-clear Indian Ocean and pristine beaches right at your doorstep. What truly sets this hotel apart was the how sustainable it was and also the outstanding food; every meal was a culinary masterpiece, blending local flavors with international cuisine to perfection. We loved it so much, we extended our stay. The impeccable service, friendly and attentive staff, stunning location, and delectable food make it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a luxurious and memorable getaway. Without a doubt, we would wholeheartedly come back to relive this incredible experience.
Good place
Service was slow. It was extremely aggravating seeing people with blue shirts (managers I presume) barking orders at the understaffed workers and not lifting a finger to help. Then I got charged 3 times for the same dinner so that’s great. When I told the front desk they said they would handle it and never did.
Great looking place, attentive and friendly staff
The food here was top quality and catered to my vegan diet. Dishes were created just for me off the menu. The desserts indescribably incredible. Plating and taste superb. Beautiful clean beach, pool, rooms cheerful, design and comfort also top notch. Staff all were superior with big hearts. I am a seasoned traveler and this resort rates in my top 4 around the world.
Its such a good place to relax and eat. I also like the fact that the breakfast is made to order and not a buffet service.
A great place to relax and chill, great staff and concept, however the food and drinks were way too expensive and the food wasn't that good to match the price and what you read on the menu is not always what you get on the plate. A bit far from the center and nightlife, no restaurants or bars nearby, a taxi/car is needed.
rishi was amazing to share his local tips and took care of arrangenents at other lux resorts. such a shame that service at the bar/restaurant in general is too slow! also hotel could have benefited from lowering the price of local beer or rum encouraging more consumption. knowing that it charges over 3 times we decide to stay healthy instead.
We had a lovely stay at Salt. We were in the room on the 1st floor facing the pool. Meals were amazing, healthy with lots of options starters, mains and desserts; the portions were quite big for me, so I usually either skipped starter or dessert. We tried most of the cocktails as well and absolutely loved them all. We also tried 60-min spa there, it was super relaxing. Staff are nice at Salt, easy to talk to and they even remember the cocktail we love the most! Strongly recommend!
Salt of Palmar is pretty boutique hotel with an amazing breakfast and overall fantastic food. The staff is absolutely lovely. We had a wonderful time and want to thank all, and especially Med who is a very friendly guy trying to answer all our questions 😊
Amazing Staff, could not do enough for you!
We really liked the hotel. But a few things could be improved: - The welcome didn’t mention the free water activities or show the gym or roof bar - The info board did not mention one needed to pre book for the glass bottom boat - The pricing and quantity of food made ordering at dinner a gamble - pay £20 for a small shrimp cocktail with two shrimp… 2 OR her a very large curry meal
Lovely staff, brilliant beach and delicious food. Really enjoyed our stay
This hotel is outstanding. Excellent design, amazing service, in a stunning location. All staff are so friendly and helpful. Facilities are impeccable, food is top quality. It’s not cheap but definitely worth it. Bang on the beach rooms worth upgrading to.
Just a one night stay. Everything was perfect. Looking forward to my 3 weeks stay starting tomorrow.
Excellent service, beautiful properly, great food, overall exceptional experience staying at the Salt of Palmar
A truly wonderful experience. Sensational hotel and setting, with kind and friendly staff. We really enjoyed our stay here and would thoroughly recommend it. The Bang on Beach and Sea View rooms are worth paying extra for. We opted for All-Inclusive for simplicity and I'm glad we did as the quality of food and drinks was mostly excellent.
Property and Staff are excellent.
Great staff
Me and girlfriend went to Salt of Palmar to have a vacation for 8 days, The staff was so polite, pleasant and helpful from the moment we checked in till the moment we left the hotel, the service was exceptional. The food was so delicious, always fresh and tasty. I will definitely miss it specially the pastries. The room was always clean and equipped with everything we need, lovely and minimalist interior design with a very good view for the sea. As someone mentioned before in a previous review the hotel got an Art Deco/Havana vibe - really well designed and decorated with lots of greenery. Overall we had an amazing stay in this wonderful hotel and we would like to thank all of the amazing staff who helped us to enjoy our stay: Kumar, Vidusha, Sanjay, Vinesh, Bishav, Sandyana and the rest of the crew!

We enjoyed a lovely stay at Salt. It’s a beautiful, tranquil resort. The staff are very friendly and helpful. As we were there a while, we appreciated the restaurant team’s flexibility allowing us to go off menu.
I stayed in four hotels during my week in Mauritius and this was hands-down my favourite. The bright, graphic design of this hotel will provide endless inspiration for enviable vacation photographs! Rooms are spacious and comfortable, with every amenity available. I especially enjoyed the locally produced beauty products: shampoo, conditioned, hair mask, salt body scrub, body wash, hand wash and lotion! All were amazing! Most of the staff were really good. Talk to the manager if you need anything, he is so kind and helpful. I was a bit sick one evening, and the restaurant staff were very supportive and professional, and the hotel arranged for a doctor to visit me in my room. The beach is gorgeous and I also went diving with the dive centre next door and they were amazing professionals. I wish I would have had time to do two dives with them. The restaurant focuses on local food and I really enjoyed my meals. I especially recommend the fish ceviche and roasted root vegetable salad. A few small suggestions for improvement: The hotel tries to function completely on an app/digitally. It's okay for some but others may wish to ditch their phone at least some of the time when on vacation. I really, really miss the simplicity of paper menus. The spa menu (again, on the app) is a bit confusing and led to a somewhat stressful exchange before my treatment. However, the treatment itself was great.
Looks very overpriced and it’s mysterious for us why the rating is so high. No one at reception knows what is VIP Expedia benefits. No upgrades, no discounts. We asked the room on high floor before arrival but this was not noted. Room is tiny, toilet is miserable, no freezer and no minibar in the room. The beach is not for swimming at all, not enough sun umbrellas for all guests… we were really disappointed and I don’t even want to recollect all things…
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay, good and very friendly staff. Food is very good, excellent service and highly recommend Salt of Palmar.
We were two families of four, for a short stay. We had the most fantastic time and will be back soon. Specific highlights are the exeptional food options on an a la carte basis, he magnificent beach and phenomenal bed and linen.
Good and friendly staff, always on hand to help. Everyone always asking how you are doing, free boat scuba activities available.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming, the breakfast was really good lots of option and beautifully presented and we loved the decor of the hotel. The amenities in the room were good. You could walk either way to different beaches. Very chilled out vibe and some good hotel activities each day.
Very very Excellent hotel I will come again h.
I had a fabulous stay at SALT of Palmar and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mauritius. The beautiful design and interiors of the hotel were amazing and the location right on the beach was brilliant. The staff were the friendliest at any hotel I've ever stayed at. They remembered details of your stay, trips you took, activities you joined in with and showed a genuine interest in ensuring your time at SALT of Palmar was perfect. Nothing was an issue and they went out of their way to help. Overall I just loved the ethos of the hotel, their focus on sustainability and highlighting the best Mauritius has to offer. SALT of Palmar offers a luxury stay but still retains the culture of the island.
Exceptional welcome of all personnel who pay attention to details and wishes of customers and have been very engaging and warm throughout.
We liked that the staff were very friendly and professional and went to great lengths to ensure that you had a great experience. The setting is amazing and the layout superb. Although we were told the resort was very busy it never seemed crowded.
Beautiful hotel, great location and beaches! Very helpful and friendly staff but lacked a little bit of attention in restaurant service which brought down the experience a little. Overall, it was fantastic!
Overall amazing experience! Beautiful facilities, superb staff from top to bottom, incredible meals, and lovely concepts to use local products. Highly, highly, highly recommended.
The experience at Salt was unbelievable. The food, service and facilities were amazing. Such helpful and friendly staff. Everything is of very high quality. It was truly a 5 star experience. Can’t wait to go back🙂
Amazing, possibly the best hotel I’ve had the pleasure of staying. The staff are friendly and live up to the ‘feel at home’ vibe, with incredible attentiveness and listening for queues for how to help make our stay better. In short if you’re debating a stay just book it, you won’t regret your experience.
