Breakfast was excellent freshly cooked to order staff friendly and professional, beautiful clean crisp tablecloths. Good choice of cooked breakfast and continental .

No hot water to take a shower in the evening , it was hot for the morning Unable to get a coffee from the bar after returning from an evening out after waiting some time , yes it was busy and there was only one member of staff serving in the bar (10.15pm) As much as the building is impressive it is looking tired in some areas .

Elegant building located in the harbour area, close to the Plymouth arena. The hotel had good parking (although there was a charge) and the room was pleasant with an unsuited that included a bath (unusual these days!) Staff were helpful and polite and the hotel was well maintained. The room was good value, breakfast was very nice and it was easy to walk into town and the theatres.

The area was (it seems) close to the night life of Plymouth, and it was quite noisy all night!

The view from our bedroom was a brick wall for the cost I would have expected better. Also the girl who served us in the bar was surly snd rude she ignored people queuing at the bar while she slowly put cups away 😒 Also the girl in the dining room was surly and unfriendly. These things make a huge difference to your stay

Hotel was great. Fantastic location. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Unfortunately, paper thin walls and the guests in the neighbouring room had the TV most of the night!

Good location for Plymouth centre, Theatre Royal Plymouth was a short walk away. Parking on site. Very helpful staff, everyone was friendly and professional. Breakfast was enjoyable and good value.

The first room we had was noisy as it faced into a courtyard of AC units but we were given an alternative when asked, so full marks to the reception team.

Potentially beautiful hotel but sadly really tired. Lovely building but everything needs to be refreshed and refurbished, which I understand from staff, is scheduled.

The spa was not as advertised in photos. Really tired. Not luxury in any sense. Everything needs replacing. I tried the pool but it didn’t feel clean at all and the sauna wasn’t hot enough and benches were slimy. Steam room was out of order. Cheap picnic furniture stacked around the sides. Poor lighting and no decor. Shower’s were shabby and unappealing. All in all, we left quickly and didn’t enjoy at all.

Great location in Plymouth, easy to find and park and clean, spacious family room. Staff were helpful and we even used the pool. Refreshing temperature haha but clean and well staffed

This hotel truly has it all cozy vibes, very clean facilities, and a staff that goes above and beyond. Plus the breakfast was absolutely delicious every single morning. Can't wait for our next visit!

Stayed to watch Moulin Rouge at Theatre Royal, which was just a short walk away, as was the Barbican. Perfect location to explore Plymouth. Reception staff were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was served to the table and waiting staff were lovey. Rooms clean and beds comfortable. All in all a great stay. Would recommend and will be staying again, hopefully for a couple of nights.

Sleeping was a problem...The cleaners was starting cleaning early in the morning and you were earing them walking continuously because of the poor quality wooden floor so who has a light sleep is a problem. But above all everything was great

Very comfortable room for a family along with super pool facilities. The breakfast was also very good with both continental and full ordered cooked breakfast offered. Really lovely. They also allowed me to use a quiet spot in the hotel to take video meetings anmd work with no hassle and didn't charge me extra for keeping the car in their car park over my check out time as I was working.

For check-in, we had to wait around 15 minutes for a member of staff to assist us, as they were busy explaining the best places to visit in Plymouth to other guests. We had two large suitcases with us, so standing and waiting for that long was quite inconvenient and unpleasant. Secondly, there was an issue with the bathroom. The water would collect at the far end near the exit and did not drain properly. Finally, the roof made a very loud and unpleasant noise whenever it was windy, which was quite disturbing, especially at night.

Room was a good size, beds were comfortable and the area was very convenient- only a ten minute walk from the train station and city centre. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was hot and tasty, service was also great. Pool facilities were nice and free to use for guests.

Breakfast was a little pricey at £15pp but everything tasted great and the service was amazing so not a massive let down.

The location is good and it's good value for money. We had issues with our room and the staff were brilliant and did everything they could to help us straight away.

We booked the four poster bed room for the spa bath. The bath was broken and the jets didn't work. The staff were great and moved us room. Unfortunately this room didn't have the spa bath though, although looked like a nicer room. The staff did give us a free breakfast due to the move. The stay was good but we left a bit disappointed about the bath.

The very extensive hair blockage in the bath plug. I sent a photo to reception. It clearly hadn't been cleared for a long time (weeks, possibly more). It really put me off, and it gave a dirty feel to the room. I was expecting so much more from this hotel considering the price and photos. I also booked because the hotel website mentioned air conditioning. However, I found out that not all rooms had air conditioning.

Convenient to town and Barbicsn/Hoe

Pool was dark.. floor area not too clean and slippery. Pool VERY cold. Would not accept cancellation 5 days prior even though wanted to rebook and pay difference in date prices. So did not rebook. Genuine reason to change date. Room was comfortable.

We always stay in New Continental (20 years approx). Staff are your professional and helpful. We always like breakfast in our room; it's always well presented and delicious by the polite staff. I normally use the sauna etc. but this time

No air con

Very comfy bed and it was good to have a bath instead of a shower. Excellent breakfast with a good choice of fruit and cereals and a range of cooked dishes including kippers. Central location meant everything was in walking distance. The receptionist was very brave and rescued a seagull that had become trapped. She was very helpful to us and stored our bags after we had checked out so we could go on a boat trip.

The solicitors opposite has a flashing neon screen in the wall which lit up the bedroom all night. Their name is Bright and the light certainly was.

Close to the city centre and staff are brilliant.

The bedroom was old and the floors were so creaky upstairs guests kept us awake and then woke us the next morning. We were on the side of the hotel that has a very busy road and with single pane windows this makes it hard to get to sleep anyway. No blackout curtains either. Will probably not go again

The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. The hotel was in an excellent position to visit the city.

Das Hotel ist ganz gut erreichbar. Besonders, wenn man dann eine Fähre zu erreichen hat, ist es gut. Wir hatten ein Familienzimmer für 5, was ganz gut war. Insgesamt ist es für die eine Nacht, die wir dort waren volkommen in Ordnung gewesen.

Die Lage ist etwas abseits der belebten Bereiche, aber mitcetwas Fußweg geht auch das. Der Pool ist sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Auch der Rest des Hotels, aber beim Pool fiel es doch sehr auf. Aber, um sich mal kurz zu erftidchen war auch das okay.

The lift made quite a few concerning noises, in the bathroom there was black stains around the bath, and just be careful with the glass on the furniture as it’s not stuck down or rubber pads aren’t used so it’s very easily moved!!

The hotel is very dated I stayed there nearly 30 years ago it's hardly changed it's a bit tired. The cleaning staff didn't even enter the room the second day, I think I would rather pay more money and stay elsewhere.

Room was dusty, including mug, kettle etc, water from the bathroom tap was hit and miss, sometimes you had no water, other times you just had to wait and than it spat out.

The hopelessness of a member of staff when trying to alter my booking!! She was incapable of communicating ( language barrier) I thought I was being scammed. !! The whole booking became a fiasco !!

Good location near to most things we wanted to see and do

Right in the heart of the city. Excellent value (£67 for a double) really helpful and friendly receptionist (Harriet) who was superb. Parking was available for £7. I would recommend the place.

We had a poor experience using the pool with our children. Firstly, there had been an issue with the boiler so it was freezing. The biggest issue however were other users. The hotel allows memberships so while we were there, 6 local people were using the pool for swimming. They took the entire breadth of the pool for lane swimming and there was no space for the kids to do what kids do in pools - I.e. play and practice holding breath underwater etc. one man insisted that the kids should be swimming lengths the same as him. The kids felt so uncomfortable they wanted to leave after 10 mins in the water. We travel often and select hotels with a pool for the kids to enjoy. Some hotels have selected family time which we don’t mind, others have dedicated lanes roped off, also fine. In this case the entire pool was commandeered by local members who allowed no room for us unless we only wanted to lane swim (which are kids are too small for). This hotel has not understood that different users of a pool have different purposes for using it and so we were pushed out. After spending a good bit of money to stay here because it had a pool, this left a really sour taste and so despite the staff themselves being nice, we cannot recommend this hotel to families. The needs of the gym members seemed more important and we were unwelcome and felt unable to utilise the facilities we had paid for.

It's a heritage site, and so there are no aircon, and the room is outdated. Because it's mid summer, the lack of Aircon was the issue.
