The bar
Layout of available sockets. None by the bed
Location was right near all shops & facilities. Room was clean & spacious.
Grouting in bathroom and panelling could do with a tidy up. Not enough teas/milks/biscuits or variety.
Accueil, excellent petit déjeuner, literie confortable, très propre
Un peu cher
Friendly staff, great location, comfy beds
Nothing!
Central location
Little tired and dated
Breakfast not great, luke warm at best, both scrambled eggs and fried egg did not look appetising at all!
More choice at breakfast, hot food and eggs that look and taste appetising
The staff very friendly the hotel clean with a good breakfast
Very hot , no air conditioning windows open only 2-3 inches so very stuffy, there was a small fan, but much bigger floor fan or cold air tower required
The friendly atmosphere. The staff are very welcoming and they also recognise their regulars.

Close to railway station easy walking distance. Friendly helpful staff. Breakfast nice with good choice of continental and full English. Friendly welcoming staff in restaurant. Rooms comfortable and clean, Beds really comfortable tea and coffee making facilities. Large ceiling fan which we used as room was quite warm also iron ironing board plenty of wardrobe.space. Good price breakfast not included in price but reasonable cost added extra.

Quiet comfortable room.
it was absolutely perfect for an overnight stay.
road noise was an issue for this rooms location overlooking a major road
The Check In was smooth with no fuss and went quickly. The room was clean and bright and comfortable. The location of the hotel is conveniently near to the main focus of the City. I found all the staff to be knowledgeable, friendly, obliging and helpful. The decor of the hotel is pleasing to the eye. All the facilities are presented well.
Spacious bedroom, friendly reception staff, great food at the bar and lovely bar staff.
Paying extra for breakfast. Poor breakfast selection, tasteless and poorly cooked hot breakfast options. On arrival no space to park car at front door hotel entrance just to go in for check in. Car park available is next door at Sainsbury's, at extra cost, an outdoor public car parking. Underground car park has very limited spaces and gate open.
Vicinissimo alla stazione ferroviaria, personale accogliente, ambiente pulito, stanza ampia, dotato di bar e ristorante. Servizio in camera per spuntino o cena veloce in tarda serata a prezzi contenuti . Colazione a buffet varia e abbondante
Nulla da segnalare
Perfect location for my trip in the middle of the city and very close to the train station. Friendly and welcoming staff.
The Copthorne is in a great location to access Plymouth City Center . There are a few parking spots outside the main entrance and a small underground carpark, a charge per 24 hrs of £9 Reception will give you a direction map to this as you have to go around to the back of the hotel. The turning up to the carpark is sign posted with a small sign, It does seem like you are driving up a pedestrian walkway at first , the carpark entrance is at the top on the left . We stayed for an event at Plymouth Arena which is just a very convenient 10 minute walk away. The room was clean and very spacious (we upgraded to the double delux) A great view of the Armarda Way regeneration project from our room. There is a Supermarket right next door, which is very convenient. The staff were all very helpful. Breakfast was good with lots of options.
The room did seem to be in very close proximity to Possibly an air duct/vent/motor , this resulted in a constant droning sound. Luckily i had ear plugs with me otherwise I would of found it extremely annoying trying to sleep.
Good location.
Room was bigger than expected
Bed was smaller than expected
Very clean. Helpful staff.
No indication that there would be a lot of steps to access the hotel and then even more to reach reception. This should have been flagged up so that potential guests know this in advance. Very difficult when you have luggage. Breakfast was definitely not worth the cost
The upgraded room was very spacious, clean and had everything you would want to have, including a lovely view of Plymouth. The staff were excellent and welcoming.
The food, granary bloomer was just brown bread, the chicken curry could have come straight from Sainsbury's across the road and the cooked breakfast seemed to have been under the lights for ages.
Position great. Nice restaurant. Helpful friendly staff spacious room.
Garage door broken but this was to be remedied shortly. No air conditioning but fan was very good.
Large, comfortable room. Good bedding and towels. Very clean in all areas. Quite good self-service breakfast. Very friendly efficient and helpful staff. Small secure car park. About a 10 minute walk to Plymouth attractions. This is the 3rd time I've stayed here, it's a good option for Plymouth, with parking and reasonably priced. I would definitely stay again.
No air conditioning but a fan was provided but the window didn't open very far. The entrance to the hotel car park is difficult to find but this isn't the hotel's fault. The council has changed the roads around the hotel. Best to park outside the front door then go in & ask hotel staff for directions and map to the car park. No problem if you're on foot.
The staff, quality of rooms and convenient location.
Convenient for the railway station, staff pleasant and helpful.
On a positive note, the hotel staff were incredibly pleasant and provided excellent service. The breakfast team, in particular, could not do enough for us, especially one lovely lady, who we believe was of Polish background. The breakfast itself was fantastic, offering a wide variety of delicious choices. The bar staff were equally friendly and helpful; when we were unsure about a beer, they kindly let us sample it first. It turned out to be exactly what we were looking for, which we wouldn't have known without their thoughtful gesture.
The hotel offered a very mixed experience. While the decor in some of the communal areas felt modern, the bedrooms clearly need a lot of work. Our room featured a bizarre, medieval-style headboard that completely clashed with the rest of the hotel and worse, it didn't even look clean. The room amenities were incredibly inconsistent. While some rooms had air conditioning, others did not. We stayed during an extreme heatwave in a room where the windows could not be opened, and the provided fan did nothing but circulate hot air. To make matters worse, our fridge was completely empty. I strongly suggest providing complimentary bottled water, especially during high temperatures. Other guests in our group paid the exact same price but had their fridges stocked and replenished daily with water and soft drinks.
It’s great hotel for parents staying when doing the uni trips
Sadly this time housekeeping let them down / room wasn’t cleaned any of the days stayed so had to call down for a bin empty and fresh towels
Convenience to train station. The bar and breakfast room.
Breakfast to expensive.
Facilities satisfactory.
I liked the location very much as it’s very close to the sea and also very central. We also liked the breakfast, it was very nice food. We liked the fact that the hotel has iron board and iron.
I did not like the shower head as its not flexible and it was a pain until hot water came on it, and I Felt cold. We did not like it that there was no water available at the breakfast buffet. There is no sign on the road to show the entrance to the parking lot.
La posizione attaccata alla stazione e vicinissima al centro.
Letto piccolissimo e doccia con la vasca e la tenda in tessuto.
A quiet room, with a comfy bed, black out curtains and very good shower
Flush on the loo needed improving
Good location
Didn’t realise you had to put out something on the door to have your room cleaned so returned late and nobody had been in room.
Close to centre
Nothing we didn't like
Staff were helpful at all times, responding to requests quickly and with courtesy
We chose the property as we were in expensive motorbikes and it had secure parking.
When we arrived we tried to get into car park and pressed intercom etc had to wait a while but were allowed in. Went to reception and were told never to go in that way again by a surly lady receptionist. Went apologised and said we had no idea we were not allowed and said we buzzed in and were authorised. She was rude when I asked about paying for parking when I checked in. “There the app, you have to pay there.” I saw the usual screen to the side where it usually allows you to enter reg and pay but she said no use app. We all tried and I tried three times and asked can I not pay you as the app does not work. It does was the response. Here is my phone, please could you try, it’s probably me as screen is small and hard to read. She actually obliged but couldn’t get it to work. Tried three times before saying “here enter you reg in there (the usual screen I mentioned earlier) and you can pay there. We were then told the secure parking gates were broken so no secure parking. I said we only booked because of this do we get a discount for parking. “No” ?????? Wow - rude, no secure parking and frustrating as hell after a long ride out. Service is everything and this was nothing but poor.
Parking charge
Professional and prompt check in, clean spacious room with comfortable bed. The working small fridge was a nice touch, we found it very useful since we did not sign up for breakfast. En suite bathroom clean, maintained and equipped. Location excellent, right on Armada Way, walking distance from interesting places, good restaurants and the Sea.
The entrance door closing is a little loud for my taste, I wonder if the closing of the doors could be made silent? I reckon it would improve the overall experience.
Very nice clean comfortable room with helpful very well mannered staff nice breakfast
The room was clean with plenty of towels in the bathroom - the staff were friendly
There was no air conditioning in the bedroom and the windows wouldn't open more than an inch so it wasn't possible to get any fresh air in - the room was stifling in the heat of summer, which made for a very uncomfortable night's sleep
Location was good. Easy to find and to get to The breakfast was very nice. A good selection.
Air conditioning in the room. Although we had a fan it was still very warm.
Friendly staff and close to train station
Very hot in room despite electric fan
Central to the city centre, on site parking, rooms were clean but dated, drinks vouchers for the bar, breakfast was nice.
Expensive to park, charged extra by Booking.com for breakfast when it was already included in the Club Room! No TV remote in the bedroom and night staff didn't have a spare.
Excellent breakfast
Close to the city Able to drop bags off before check in and after check in so convenient
Nothing
The price was very good, the location was very good.
The bed was really uncomfortable, the pillow is completely flat, the hairdryer kept cutting out literally after 20 seconds, the telly didn’t work, unfortunately the breakfast there’s not the greatest I think the room needs bringing up-to-date stuck in the 80s, but I will say it was clean so served a purpose for one night.
Emplacement ideal pour visiter Plymouth, equipements corrects, parking sur place ( dommage qu’il soit payant!)
Pas de climatisation
Good bar & brasserie Good food served Staff efficient and personable
Building was very hot. Room uncomfortable because of the heat
Friendly staff. Close location to Plymouth hoe. Nice choice of breakfast. (Including decaf. Tea and coffee). Iron, ironing board ,hairdryer and tea / coffee making facilities in room. More sachets were Complimentary water and soft drinks also. ( the room was quite warm on arrival). There was an issue with not being able to turn the bathroom tap off, which was resolved quickly.
The underground hotel car park was difficult to find ( the map provided by the hotel was also hard to fathom).not very well signposted. Paid £9 on the screen in the basement car park which had limited space. We had 2 flights of stairs ( no lift) to get our luggage to the next level. From there we got the lift to level 1 where reception was. The room had a ceiling fan which wasnt very effective. ( we did have a plug in room fan and a fridge which helped.). Could have done with usb or plug sockets by the bed. The shower head was fixed to the wall with a shower curtain across the bath. There was no toilet brush. the WiFi worked well, and there were plenty of towels in the room. Reception had a drinking water refill station.
Stayed here for one night during Plymouth Firework Festival. Family room on 2nd floor - clean and well equipped. We found 3 fans running in our room on arrival - it was in the middle of an extended heatwave so this was much appreciated. Pre-booked car parking on site was an essential. Breakfast was available but we opted to eat locally - plenty of choice in the vicinity. Despite being close to a busy road the room was relatively quiet. Have booked again for next year!
Staff were great and approachable.
Great location and food was good.
Breakfast
Rooms were not air conditioned. We sweltered for 4 evenings. Our request for an extra fan was ignored. We took advantage of the breakfast offer. The staff were unaware of this . The email that showed this was not accepted and was referred to a manager for his approval.
Good
Shower room was little old
James the manager is the best !! Very helpful
Friendly lady in restaurant, apart from temperature comfortable room
No air conditioning, colour scheme of decor, door locked when we arrived so had to use steps with luggage
Clean and pleasant. Good breakfast great location.
Not much of a view from our room. But hey we were out most of the time.
Location good
The hotel is very dated and needs an urgent upgrade to bring it into a modern standard. It felt like we went back to the 80s
Alles super!

The staff were all very helpful, friendly and efficient.
The room was rather small and the layout was cramped and awkward. It was extremely hot as there is no air conditioning and the windows only open about 2 inches due to the safety restrictors. It also overlooked Sainsburys car park which was very noisy with the extraction ducts from the car park below. This did stop eventually but was extremely loud when on - unable to hear each other speaking in the room. There were no electric sockets next to the bed so had to get an extension lead from reception. BREAKFAST- with a bit of tweaking this could have been lovely but- the bacon was undercooked (almost raw) the sausages were undercooked not browned and the scrambled egg was very runny. The fried egg, beans, tomatoes and mushrooms were ok. The hash browns were yellow! It would have been nice to have some fresh bread available and not just square processed stuff or the part baked rolls that were part baked! There was a pancake making machine which looked ok but we didn’t use this. All in all it could have been so much better with just a bit of care and attention. The food just needed cooking properly.
Comfy bed, spacious room, clean
Bathroom old fashioned, windows didn't open enough
The breakfast
No air conditioning, did not sleep at all as no ventilation, had to ask for another fan which took hours to arrive. Staff seem to have problems with other staff and made me feel awkward when asking for something that they had to ask bar staff for. Not very professional. Very dated room shower was useless.
Nothing
Everything
The location on the hotel was good and we managed to get a parking space underneath
There was no air con, the bed was very small literally small double. The fridge did not work properly and the door actually fell off when we opened it
Great staff, very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was very good , such a range on offer.
it was a very hot time and the windows only opened a tiny bit. to be fair there was a fan in the room and the temp was very hot.
Nice breakfast
Can’t really remember much about the place
The hotel was able to arrange interconnecting rooms despite us booking at short notice. The staff were friendly and efficient and the service was quick.
Alles war super
A convenient hotel for train travellers. All staff very professional and welcoming. Buffet breakfast had a good range of choices and hot food was fresh and well cooked.
Bathrooms are rather tired but clean and functional.
They were so welcoming they even gave my son a birthday card!
Reception staff were pleasant enough, but quite direct. Beds comfy enough. Bathrooms showing their sign of age. Good room cleanliness. Breakfast okay, but not the standard I would’ve expected. Cleaners continually walking through the saying areas with laundry trollies and insufficienct waiting staff. Overall, good location. 15 minute walk to the Barbican.
In the city of Plymouth and Central to everything . All shops within walking distance as well as Plymouth Hoe
Nothing
We have stayed at the Copthorne hotel on a few occasions over the years, always booking Club rooms, whilst visiting family. Historically, we have found it one of the better options in Plymouth. However, this has not been our recent experience of a total of four nights’ stay. Our room on the fourth floor reached over 30 degrees on two occasions and it was only on the third night that we managed to - eventually - get someone to come and open our window. This took two calls to reception! For the first two nights, we didn’t know the windows could be opened until we noticed what had happened with other rooms. The situation could have been managed better by reception staff when we checked in. They might have addressed the issue of no air conditioning in hot weather and what was possible in terms of remedial action. Generally, the response of reception staff - bar one - was apathetic! We have previously found breakfast good at the Copthorne. However, on three out of four mornings, food items were lacking and the food service area messy. It was not proactively managed by staff who had to be asked more than once to replenish food trays. On one occasion, an empty platter I asked to be restocked was removed never to return! The hotel appears to host a lot of tour groups now and their needs seem to be catered to before those of independent travellers. We will think long and hard before booking a Club room and staying at the Copthorne again. Pity!
The room number was 420 and had a spectacular view of Plymouth. Location was perfect. Deal did not include breakfast so can't comment on that.
Nothing
In walking distance to the railway station and to the town centre The breakfast was good The room was fine
Nothing
Location and friendly lady in reception
A good central location. Reception area was nice and staff were lovely.
No air conditioning in room. Room was tired and carpets old and a bit grubby. At breakfast the coffee machine broke and their wasn't enough healthy choices. Reception supposedly undercharged me 30p then asked for it 2 days later.
Hotel is just ok. bed was comfortable but rooms are hot. It's all a bit 1980's with a ceiling fan and shower curtains and a vanity unit in the bathroom. Don't be fooled by the photo of the hotel, it's now looking very grubby.
The location , but only becauseit was close by to where we needed to be for our stay. Bed was ok . Staff pleasant.
No air con! Ceiling fan that does absolutely nothing and one small desk fan that you couldn't hardly move . Partner went to use toilets on ground floor, need to use room card to access ( fair enough) but no lights , should be that lights activate once you gain access. Trying to find hotels underground parking is a bit of a mission! Whole hotel needs updating. Our first and last ever stay at this hotel.
The staff were fantastic everyone couldn't do enough for us. We were made to feel very welcome. My wife is disabled and has to use a walking aid and we were given a room complete with a wet room with a disabled chair and other aids including an automatic opening and closing door. The restaurant and food were first class! We will definitely be going back.
Nothing all was excellent!
Very approachable staff members.
You have to pay for the car park I didn't notice this during the booking process.
Clean and comfortable great staff and lovely location
Room was incredibly hot and had to have windows open which made for a noisy night
Friendly staff on arrival

The hotel is out of date.
The room was extremely hot. Could not sleep the first night, on the 2nd night we got the lockers removed from the windows and we managed to drop the temperature in the room, but the extraction outside at the Sainsbury's car park is very noisy 24/7 and with the windows open was very hard to sleep. The lack of air conditioning is very painful on the 4th floor, cause the insulation of the roof must be very poor and when sunny the whole 4th floor is boiling.

I can’t recommend staying at the Copthorne Hotel Plymouth, especially if you’re given a room on the top floor. Be aware that most rooms don’t have air conditioning, and our top-floor room was unbearably hot, much warmer than the rest of the hotel. We even had to unplug the fridge because it was heating up the cupboard it was housed in, making the room even warmer. The room itself felt tired and very dated and is in need of refurbishment. It was also very noisy. Between the seagulls, the nearby car park and the traffic from the main road, getting a good night’s sleep was difficult. Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again and would avoid this hotel in the future.
The breakfast was ok
The shower head, and for an upgrade it wasn't great, bed was too small, bit disappointed..
Excellent food at breakfast and for evening meal; staff all very pleasant and professional. Have heard hotel described as outdated but the 'retro' feel was actually very attractive. The visit was marred by the boiling heat of the bedroom, with no aircon or way of turning down the heating. The only way to counter this was a large, quite noisy ceiling fan in the centre of the room, as well as opening the windows all night. Not good for sleeping!
I stayed at The Copthorne Hotel Plymouth on 18th July 2026, and it was easily one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had.The room was an absolute furnace and completely uninhabitable. There was no air conditioning. While the hotel provided a ceiling fan and a desktop fan, they were completely useless because the room's window barely opened. The fans simply circulated trapped, stagnant, boiling hot air around the room. Sleep was completely impossible. To make matters worse, the customer service was appalling. When I explained at checkout that we could not sleep due to the unbearable temperatures, the receptionist literally shrugged her shoulders and dismissively said, "Yes, it’s hot isn’t it." No empathy, no apology, and zero professionalism. The management at this property clearly has no regard for health, safety, or basic guest comfort. Do yourself a favour and book elsewhere.
La cercanía a la estación de tren y el centro
Bueno, este año con las olas de calor se echa de menos el aire acondicionado. Por lo menos había ventilador de techo
The look of the hotel from the outside
The staff was not very helpful. I book 2club room but there was none available. Then they decided the only option available was two separate rooms for the kids (age 4 and 8). No consideration for their safety. I was expected to recieve my refund, told to go through the booking service, still not heard anything. The staff refuse to assist with that too. Also, they took my car registration but did not iterate that as guest we had to pay for parking. Got 3 parking tickets, called and they still refuse to give any assistance in rectifying the situation. Not even taking any form of liability. No apology for the confusion. It was like dealing with people who has no people skills. Probably get a better reaction if I was speaking to a wall.
Location excellent for our train journey. Very comfortable, quiet room. Very good cold and hot choices for breakfast.
Nothing
Location
The room was hotter than anything we have experienced in our lives. There was no air con and the fans were cheap and did very little. The lifts looked like they had not been cleaned for months. The breakfast was limited and didn’t even offer porridge. One packet of biscuits in the room for 3 person room is just rediculous. The guide provide in the room was sticky, stained and we didn’t even want to touch it. The flush in the toilet was rubbish. The whole experience was poor and we definitely will not be coming back or recommending.
Always friendly. Fantastic location, on site car parking.
Nothing
There were a few issues, and the staff really tried to help but some of it was just beyond their capabilities. They were very polite and helpful. They scored a 10 for effort. Very pleasant staff and a credit.
Firstly the hotel was beyond hot. It was impossible to stay in your room any length of time or sleep at night. The windows were on limiters so could only be opened a few inches. Whilst the staff provided fans, this was far from satisfactory.. it ruined our stay if I’m honest. The shower only had one temperature, scalding . On complaint, maintenance did come to fix it quickly. Whilst the temperature didn’t hold, at least you could shower without risk. The decor was very dated and old. Having said all this they really did try. It isn’t a four star hotel though by any stretch of the imagination though, despite the brilliant staff.
Comfortable and inviting
Na
Room too hot, no air conditioning and windows blocked. Only 1 available socket. While some staff members were kind, others (20/7 morning for breakfast) were almost rude.
Breakfast and dinner are very good
Room is very old, no aircond makes summer very hot, old bathroom
Excellent customer service from the team especially housekeeping. The rooms were clean and roomy. No AC but there's a ceiling fan and additional fan provided. I don't have AC at home so this was fine for me. Very reasonable rates. Good breakfast choices and we had an evening meal which was also tasty. I especially want to say a big thank you to housekeeping who returned my item that I left in the room. They returned it promptly and ensured it was wrapped well so that it didn't break in transit. I'm very grateful for that. I would stay here again and would recommend it.
