My stay at the maldron hotel was fairly pleasant but the only down side was the rude server who was very angry and unpleasant and unhygienic scratching his head and face while serving our food and proceeded to belittle his work colleagues to us which is very unprofessional otherwise rooms clean and receptionist was more than accommodating
We had a fantastic stay in a family room—it was spacious, clean, and perfect for traveling with kids. The beds were comfortable, and the room layout gave everyone plenty of space to relax. The pool was a bonus, It was well-maintained, warm enough for the children, and never felt overcrowded. We also enjoyed having both dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant. Dinner had a great selection, including kid-friendly options, and everything was tasty and freshly prepared. Breakfast the next morning was excellent as well, with a good mix of hot and cold items and plenty to choose from. we would definitely stay again
Had a very good stay at the Maldron Hotel in Limerick. The staff were friendly and welcoming from the minute I arrived, and check-in was quick and easy. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed for a short stay. The leisure facilities were a nice bonus—good pool and gym, well looked after. Breakfast was tasty with plenty of choice, though it did get busy at times. The hotel location is handy for getting around Limerick, with parking on-site which made things simple. Overall, a solid 4-star experience. Great value, good service, and a comfortable stay. I’d happily return.
Although the bed linen, towels and room was clean the hotel is very grubby. Carpets need replacing and bath, shower and bathroom generally was in poor condition. Rust marks on hand basin. Shower was difficult to turn on because part was broken. Shower head dirty and disgusting. Staff very nice and helpful
Bartender was very nice.
We stayed the 31st of August and again on the way back on the 3rd September both for 1 night. Checked in with a lovely guy didn't get his full name but it begins with s and an unusual name. Our room was lovely and the food in the bar was lovely as well. We have stayed there many times now and love it . On check out a lovely lady who was so nice and is the front office manager, she is an asset to the hotel so friendly. Thank you for a lovely stay and can't wait to go back . Tricia and Michael Hurley
A lousy experience all the way around. Front desk staff was courteous but not particularly helpful. We had lunch waiting on our room and it was awful - I mean really really bad and tasteless. No air conditioning in the room and it was soooo loud to open windows. Kids running all around the hotel and the restaurant was incredibly loud and boisterous. I would recommend going elsewhere for food - not good.
Overall an ok stay. Room outdated and for the price I think better hotels in Limerick.
Have started here before, definitely will stay again. Location, staff, food, and the gym, pool was all excellent
Setting for the hotel was horrible. The Bar was like a community centre, no atmosphere, freezing cold, too bright, staff need training on how to professionally work in the hospitality sector but the food was actually lovely. The room was too hot, no air con but thankfully the fan on full blast helped to drown out the constant noise. (This was an upgraded room due to no sleep the 1st night). The bathroom is very grubby, needs refurbishment. Breakfast was lovely but the heavy grey net curtains to hide the view made it feel very dingy. Staff are friendly. Overall I'll never stay again and will be advising other to avoid. Thankfully limerick had much to offer and keep us entertained as I was dreading returning to the hotel. An expensive mistake.
We stayed for 2 night, first night in room 112 was awful, we got no sleep at all, fan directly outside kept us awake all night, then at 7:20 on Saturday morning there was a huge lot of noise made when a lorry pulled in to off load a delivery beneath our window. I rang reception and they kindly arranged for us to move to room 343 later that day, so our 2nd night was much quieter and we could sleep undisturbed. We had dinner in the bar on the Friday evening. We bizarrely had our starters and main courses served all at once, with four of us at the table it was very crowded and difficult to make room to eat in comfort. When we asked why everything was served at once, the male waiters reply was "I didn't take your order". The so called bar has literally zero atmosphere, more akin to a canteen than a bar, very boring and uninteresting. The food was nice, and breakfast was nice too. The staff are all friendly. The place is clean. Beds very comfortable. Ensuite basic and in dire need of refurbishment, for example I don't think a shower curtain is practical or hygienic and loose floor tiles with no grout in places is not exactly safe or nice to look at. Having already stayed at 2 Maldron hotels and had a similar experience in both, I was hoping that this would be a case of third time lucky, however it was more a case of 3 strikes and your out. At €482 for 2 night including breakfast it wasn't good value at all. It was a disappointment from arrival. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this or any Maldron hotel, I will never stay at one again and would advise others to avoid.
Fine if you just want somewhere to sleep. Stayed here for 2 nights midweek for work. The bedroom was clean and tidy but in the bathroom there was mould on the shower tiles. I used the gym which was ok but not very clean and some of the equipment was rusted and not cleaned. I got dinner on the first night. The menu was basic and there was no beef burger available so I got a very average chicken burger which was tasteless. There is nothing to do near the hotel unless you want to visit the tanning salon or off licence attached to the hotel. The breakfast was average. Hot food inedible, cereals and fruit adequate.
Service and food in the restaurant very poor. There was tape stuck over the buttons at the lift and inside the lift were buttons were out of order but not repaired.Doors on to balcony extremely dodgy and unsafe not to mention the moss and grime on balcony leads me to think the exterior hasn't been treated in a while. Also there was damage to skirting boards in bedroom from an obvious old leak from the shower. The shower curtain did not stay positioned where it was meant to.Decor overall needs a huge upgrade inside and outside this hotel. There was a lump of broken wood dumped in the bushes in the outside seating area that was sticking out could easily harm a child if they didnt spot it.Not to mention alot of anti social behaviour setting of alarms in the hotel in the evening time. Also to mention our car was recieved a dint to the door in the carpark which i note per carefully placed signage the hotel does not take responsibility for.I fully believe this hotel was overpriced based on decor quality of services. It was not the comfortable chilled family break we intended it to be, i would not recommend a stay here. Also please note there is a halting site next to this hotel.
I called in this morning for coffee and a scone. I was absolutely delighted with the service from Conor, and the delicious coffee and scone, served with butter, jam, cream and a dusting of icing sugar. The hotel is beautifully clean, and the staff are lovely. Definitely deserves more than 3 stars!
All in working order nothing special. Building appears to be in good knick, as one would expect for a large chain; certainly no charm or personality. Bar downstairs is bland and clinical. The manager (Noel I think) was friendly and the food was good, as was the Guinness! I was put in an accessible room (which I would find strange unless requested or a full house). This was also an interconnecting room. The bathroom was pleasantly large but more of a 'wet room'. The floors were dirty and the showerhead was pretty gross. All the bedroom doors slam loudly in the corridors. Everything just meh. Did the job.
The hotel was so Lovely staff are friendly but one staff in particular is Louise she was very chatty to myself and my friends when we just wanted a drink in the bar. 10 out of 10 to Louise she deserves a big raise
Louise in the bar was very chatty very helpful she asked us where we are from she said Galway and she said she’ll be travelling to Galway soon for a nice city break away. 10 out of 10 to Louise she deserves a raise.
I got in late because I was performing a late night concert in the city and I was stuck for a place to stay because a booking at an AirBnB got messed up by the host and I'd trouble finding more reasonably priced accommodation at such short notice, so I only got to sleep in the early hours. And what should happen at around 7am onwards, which resulted in not getting anywhere near enough sleep? - Loads of people (possibly from that young sports team I heard about who were staying there) opening and allowing their doors to slam shut, meaning I couldn't get any more sleep that I badly needed, and that's the primary reason I needed to stay in the hotel, so I cannot honestly say I was satisfied with it. Why are the doors fitted with such strong springs that automatically close the door loudly? It makes no sense for a place that's primarily supposed to be a relaxing place to sleep, no?, or am I 'taking crazy pills'? These guests were obviously oblivious and totally inconsiderate of the doors they could've easily prevented from banging, but I also think it's partly the hotels fault for installing doors that bang shut unless someone holds the handle to soften it's otherwise loud closing. Maybe someone could see fit to retrofit some small adhesive thin strip of a type padding on the frame where the door meets the frame so that it dampens the impact considerably. It would be a relatively cheap measure to mitigate the negative consequences of the feature. I've installed 3cm long adhesive bits of window insulation on a few doors at home to achieve this and it works. A roll of that is super cheap and there's loads of it when one considers how little one needs for each door. I'm just mentioning this detail to prove it can be done and next-to-no cost. Room, bed, sheets, bathroom, water provided, etc., were all fine, but to get only around half the amount of sleep needed was not worth the €145 I paid for that night. I'm docking at least 3 stars for the seriously noisy banging doors of the rooms. After all, if you cannot sleep any more due to ceaseless banging at far too early a time (7am onwards) on a Saturday morning for someone who was working very late then what's that worth?
The hotel is clean and staff are nice and the pool is very good however, The state paying guests have a lovley area facing onto a small quite garden (confirmed by our taxi driver) whilst the full paying guests rooms are facing onto the main road where traffic is constant. With additional noise from the site across the road. The rooms are so warm with no thermostat you have no choice but to keep the windows open. The walls are paper thin room next to us had a party and it took 3 calls to reception before they did anything about it. The second night there was like a rave somewhere near until early morning. So what was supposed to be a relaxing break away has left me exhausted. If booking here please ensure you do not have a room at the front facing the road. Location is also 9 minutes drive into the city.
The hotel is in a good location, just on the outskirts of town. All the staff were very accommodating and polite. The room was sufficient, clean, spacious and comfortable. There's an underground carpark which was great for parking securely. I was disappointed in the food both in the bar and for breakfast. Very poor quality.
Hotel feels very run down and breakfast is poor. Pastries undercooked and presentation in hygienic. Staff unhelpful.Rooms very basic and very high price point for a sub standard experience. Out of the way location and bar very noisy at night.
Simple and easy. Will stay here again.
It was suitable for our purposes but the hotel room itself had loose tiles on the floor in the bathroom and the carpet was stained in several areas. The hallway had a stale smell.
The pictures make this place look like a real gem. But it was very run down. We asked for additional pillows and were told no. There was no air in the room.
Parking good
Easy walk to town 25 mins.Easy access motorway Good choice evening meal
dont expect to be checked in before 3pm prompt. dont expedt to get through the entrance doors when you finish work in the early hours of the morning
Noel was an excellent host. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Had a great evening of food and drinks. Told us of some brilliant bars and places to visit and recommended the best tourist places to visit including the Castle and Treaty City Brewery.
Went out for dinner into the maldron hotel roxboro with my husband and I have to say the food was really really good. Also I would like to mention the gentleman that served us. His name was Noel. He was real chatty and made our visit very welcoming. He went over and above to make sure our visit was worth while. Pity all restaurants don't have people like Noel. Will 100% be back to eat here again...
Has to be the poorest value in a long time. Ordered the featherblade €24.50 and what came out was a sliver of beef. I've heard of shrinkflation but this is ridiculous. Very hard to find any value on the menu of mostly deep fried food. Seems hotels are racing to the bottom.
This might possibly be the worse hotel I've stayed in throughout my trip in Europe. The furniture was dirty; the trash bin was broken; the shampoo and body wash was mostly just water. But all that aside, there was some type of leak from the shower/tub. After a long day and just wanting to get settled into bed, it was the last thing I wanted to deal with. The receptionist said he would following up with me after speaking with his manager that night when I told him, and we never received a call. So we went to bed after doing a quick whip down with the crappy hotel towels and washing our hair in the sink, all without any followup from the night receptionist. The cleanliness of the hotel was one thing, but the service was even worse. Also, the gym was closed. So their amenities, as advertised, wasn't available to guests. Try somewhere else.
This was my 5th stay at this hotel. Asked for a specific room and got exactly what i wanted. Staff from front desk all the way to the leisure were excellent. Very attentive. Lovely breakfast , lovely lunch and great atmosphere. Location is awesome, just outside of town. Will definately be back Thx to all the staff of this lovely hotel...
Very nice, food lovely and staff very friendly.
A communist dictatorial heating regim of heating from 6-7 pm, 8-9 pm and 2-3 am when outside was 4 degrees, window in the teas large opened. Phone in the room not working. I went to the receptionist to boost the heating at 6 pm, after my fist 7:17 pm heating was off, called from my mobile phone to boost heating. Called again at 21:51 pm, 1 am, 1:31 am, 1:58 am .. heating automatically started at 2 am, and stopped at 3 am, 4 degrees outside, window was opened the whole day till 6 pm when I checked in. Every time I called the receptionist said the he will boos the heating in a minute; he lied to me, heating started automatically at 2 am as it is booked by management. I believe the manager didn’t have to pay 154€ for a icy cold room who had windows open for the whole day and heating from 18:33-19, 20- 21 and 2-3 am . Ceausescu used to heat block apartments 2 hrs/ night, Maldron heats 3 hrs/ night. They should put a sign: Ceausecu dictates here.
Lovely hotel, very friendly staff. Found the room clean and had everything we needed. We would stay here again.
Louise and Callum are excellent brand ambassadors for Maldron Limerick. Front desk staff need to be more welcoming. Bedroom bath was a disgrace with flaking enamel.
Good room, clean. Nice pool.
The service was good, however the hotel is in need of serious updating, and modernisation. The first night I was put in a room, where someone had smoked in the room, how housekeeping missed the stench, is beyond me. Anyway, I was moved the next day, and offered complimentary drinks, rather than a free night, which would have been more appropriate.
Very comfy bed, good shower
Rooms are clean, spacious and beds incredibly comfy. All the staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Both breakfast & dinner were delicious, though the menu did feel a little limited, especially for vegetarian options. Pool/Sauna facilities were clean & well maintained, only negative being that there seems to be no time limit in place. Groups sitting in the hot tub for over an hour meaning no one else could use it. Feel this could be managed better. Overall though a great hotel, walking distance from city centre. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Smell from the bathroom coming from the shower curtain I think. Cozy bed friendly staff.
Great for business trips
First time in the Maldron Hotel . It's a nicely designed Hotel. I decided to get some food in the Bar. Good choice on menu. Taco Shrimp was really tasty and just the right size portion. Staff were very kind especially Olga who served me. I will return again
I wish the rooms had air conditioning and cleaner towels. Everything else was fantastic!!
Great stay, lovely staff and the food was great, hotel not in a great area but it didn't hamper our stay, as we just wanted to enjoy the pool and the hotel in general, the staff were so nice and welcoming, prices aren't to bad either, breakfast was lovely with plenty available both hot and cold
Liked the hotel, lift not operational bad
adequate for a night before flying out
Was a little concerned as we drove up. The exterior was a little sketchy, however, once we entered the hotel it was very clean and nice. The staff was top notch at every level. As an American I would have loved a/c or at least a fan.
The area is lousy and the images don't show the real deal. It is a distance from the city and the upkeep is rather poor. I am surprised that it has the Maldron name on top. It needs TLC.
We had a lovely 5 day stay at the hotel would recommend it to everyone roms very clean.. Bed very comfy also the bedding Breakfast hot or cold good variety excellent quality Would come back Pool excellent swan everyday our 13 grandson loved it
The location for this hotel is ok, though there is not much to do nearby. The train takes you into Limerick town where there are more things to do and see. The foyer is decorated fairly nice and presentable however there was only one lift working properly. The staff at reception were rude and condescending. I got the feeling that they were not keen on tourists. When we got to our room, this was pleasant. The bed was big and comfortable and the shower was hot though they did not clean our room throughout our stay which was disappointing. The pool here was ok, nothing to rave about and there were rules which were not listed on the booking nor until you were down there ready to swim. Make sure you take a euro with you are you have to pay for the locker. Shower caps have to be worn in the pool but not the jacuzzi or sauna. The jacuzzi was nice. Don’t forget flip flops as they do not like you walking barefoot. Do not bother with the breakfast. It is over priced for what you get and there is a cafe 5 minutes away that is much more superior. Overall it is an alright hotel, serves a purpose and probably better for business stays not couples trip away.
Stayed here for a concert at their local stadium. Great location, lovely pool to relax! Breakfast was gorgeous, so much to choose from! Would highly recommend. Had one hiccup with the room. However, the staff rectified immediately. Great hotel.
Comfortable rooms, decent food on site but not super walkable to other things. Taxis and ride share easily available though, so easily overcome.
Myself and my family stayed with the Maldron in Limerick on a recent visit to the city. We left over €300 for the privilege. We were met with a number 2 left in the toilet, receptionist pretty shrugged her shoulders. We are itching since our stay and cot was disgusting
It’s a nice hotel but I had several small service problems; like I could not get the soap dispenser in the shower re-filled and it took days for them to fix the lock on my room door so it would open without me going down to the front desk.
Arrived to the Maldron Limerick after a long day of travel to be told that I wasn't allowed to enter my hotel room until payment was made. Firstly, any hotel I've ever been in has asked for payment on departure. Secondly, this was a booking made by a work colleague and her card had been put down on the reservation. I ended up having to wait over an hour for my colleague to arrive to gain access to my room. Not so much as offered a glass of water as I waited. Sitting on hard chairs in the lobby. We paid over €300 for two nights of accommodation. I was exhausted. Staff showed no interest in providing any kind of welcome or support. In fact it seemed as though the young woman working on Wednesday 26 June afternoon quite enjoyed telling me about hotel policy and refusing my entrance to the room. The way I was spoken to was snooty, suspicious and unhelpful. Many thanks however to the staff in the hotel restaurant who were accommodating and friendly when my colleague and I ate dinner. Note: I would have preferred not to eat in the hotel after my poor experience but there aren't many other options in the vicinity. Rooms were fine - clean and with good showers. However the behaviour and rigidity of the reception staff means I won't be back and nor will the organisation I work for stay here again.
One of the duty managers was quite rude to me and a friend. He then made the rookie mistake of saying "I'm sorry you were upset". The apology you have when you don't have an apology. When we complained to other duty managers about his attitude, they apologised but indicated this wasn't the first time. The hotel is quite a way out of town, but fairly comfortable. The food is OK.
Ok for one night not in a great location
Nice room but small had no A/C. Not close to much at all
The hotel was good. The neighborhood doesn’t look good.
Rooms were clean and well appointed. Provided a great location for touring the South/West corner of Ireland.
This hotel is quite dated and not particularly close to anything nearby (you need a car or taxi to get to dining). We stayed 2 nights and the coffee/waters/tea cookies did not get refreshed. No air conditioning and it was quite warm in the room (a bit too warm for a good sleep)
It is kind of far from downtown. We used bus transportation. Hotel needs some renovations
Area around hotel not very nice but hotel is very nice with very helpful staff loved the breakfast which I payed 15 Euros for Lots of different choices of food and drink the bar area also nice also loved the underground ground car park that has security shutters that lock at night
Check in first, THEN you can scan your room card to access underground parking, which has convenient access to the elevator to the hotel rooms. Check-in was easy, staff was great, the room was clean, quiet, comfortable. Optional breakfast was amazing--very nice restaurant setting with so many food options. There's also a small Aldi grocery store literally around the corner. There appears to be a nice central courtyard with trees and a few tables/chairs for when it's not raining, but its convenience for cigarette smoke prevented us from using it.
Very helpful and professional staff
Good nice food nice room
Beds were comfortable. Room was very hot. You can hear the doors shutting and smell the cigarette smoke from other rooms even though it was a nonsmoking room
The nicest sleep we all have had in a long time! Thanks to Shirley and her team!! Really made our little birthday surprise trip away top notch!!!
Great options for gluten free meals, good restaurant and lively bar. Staff very helpful and friendly. Ideally situated for business park.
Plastic sheets on the bed you just sweat! Nowhere used these anymore so uncomfortable. Shower very low and tight space, shower curtain sticks to you and the handrail means you can’t turn around.
Very run down. Room was very tired. Carpet was coming up and the bathroom was slightly mouldy. Door frame in the bathroom was rotten. Bedding was itchy and the mattress was very uncomfortable. Staff were nice though
I wouldn’t stay again
Good location friendly staff
Food at restaurant was fair. Breakfast buffet was excellent.
The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient and gave us some good tips on touring and restaurants. Our room was fine, clean, airy and conveniently located. The restaurant was a bit 'wacky' in its colour scheme but the food was fine.
Quick checkin and checkout, room was clean and comfortable. Lots of parking under the hotel which made getting luggage to and from room/ car very easy. Staff friendly and helpful. Restaurant was great also. Great value for money would stay again.
Does what it says on the tin - Good value and pleasant staff
The staff at this hotel were exceptional. Helping us alter our booking and taking time to do so. Breakfast was good.
Rooms are dated. But clean. Reception staff were lovely. Breakfast was decent.
We arrived early 1:00 asked could we go in early or come back later the clerk said yes 20 min, so we stayed. He kept saying another 20 min till finally allowed to the room at 2:45. We left the room they made the room up well away, got back the door was a jar. Talked to reception they said they will retrain staff and all was good I said no they basically said to bad. The internet took 3 min to down down load basic e mail could not open attachments. Internet usless
There was an industrial fan for the swimming pool outside our window on 24/7 we couldn’t sleep whatsoever reception didn’t care would pass on message to manager
good pool
I like the fact that we were moved after complaining about loud noises, and to a much better room that did not look like it was the titanic.
Front-of-house staff on check-in are ALWAYS so unfriendly. There is one lady in particular. Thin with black hair, she never had a name tag on but checked me in on 3 occasions, never getting a hello out of her or anything. She looks like someone has just run over her puppy all the time. I have stayed here 4 or 5 times now and there service from her is a shocking as the last. Normally I get food delivered to the hotel as I have tried the menu in the restaurant and want something different. Normally I let reception know I am ordering and ask if they let me know when the driver arrives so I can come down. Normally this isn't an issue, but during this weekend's visit, she told me "It wasn't a service they offer?!" a courtesy call isn't a service?! 150 euro a night, I think this isn't a big ask! 5 nights I have stayed here and the service hasn't improved. I won't be back.
Great location for access and a wonderful hotel with all the amenities you could want.
Hotel is basic- room was clean and practical. Hotel is a little out of the centre and located in a business park. Bar area is extremely basic.
Very clean and tidy room. Breakfast choice was great.
Facilities are run down, basic service ( had to ask for my bed to be made), not a good neighbourhood… it’s not like it was a low nightly rate either
Room was very warm, left window open, but there were people talking on the patio below till midnight. The room never cooled down.
The hotel itself is fine. The lobby, halls and our room were all well kept and our room was spacious and very clean. However the same cannot be said for outside and around the hotel. There was broken glass, cigarettes and rubbish all around the car spaces immediately outside the hotel doors. We also experienced fire alarms going off at 4.30am until 4.45, all 4 of which were cancelled with 10-15 seconds, but not a single explanation or apology was given at the time nor the following morning. It is in a good location for travelling into the city, and thankfully had underground secure parking, as outside the hotel feels quite unsafe.
Little thin towels. Very worn out. No aircon. Only liquid soap. No extras. Limited menu in restaurant. No fridge. Plastic cups. Not one glass. Disappointed all round
Typical older business hotel ten minutes from town. Clean, reasonably comfortable, pool. Decent wifi, rather dull breakfast buffet, but overall it was ok value (for Ireland.)
Convenience of booking in/out online, no queueing. Very friendly staff throughout the hotel. Value for money.
We stayed one night. The room was very clean and comfortable. Don't know if the hotel was busy that night or not, but it was really quiet in the room. No noise from other rooms
Room was cold. Radiator in room. Heat came on at 5pm after 1.5 hours waiting.
Clean, staff were lovely, breakfast very good. Overall worth staying.
X
Very much a standard corporate type of hotel with nothing that really stands out as far as rooms go. However, the staff are excellent and a great credit to the hotel, keeping it very clean and super friendly. We are back in Limerick shortly and will certainly stay here again.
Lovely hotel, staff very friendly, tasty breakfast. Found the area a bit rough. Was approached by an undesirable character when I parked our car in the adjacent car park. He was looking for money. We got a feeling it would not be safe to walk around the area at nighttime.
