Clean, tidy, comfortable, everything worked, a properly run hotel. Excellent breakfast and dinner.
Nothing.
Good location and really good breakfast
The room was bit tired
Lovely building in a central position for the town. Onsite parking available (for a fee). Welcoming and helpful staff. Very large, comfortable bed and room. The 'yorkie' meal was good.
Car park charge of £6
location and room comfortable
Tried arranging room service using tel number in room for 'room service'. No response
An iconic hotel right in the town centre. Great food and drink options.
Our room was on the top floor. Lots and lots of stairs. The bed mattress was modern but quite hard.
It was perfectly central location The staff were so polite and helpful Breakfast was great Rooms small but very comfortable and modern
Nothing
The room was lovely and comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent. The staff very accommodating
Nice pub/hotel In the main street. Room was modern with everything you needed. Bathroom was also clean and tidy with everything you wanted. Evening meal was nice along with the breakfast. Would use again. Only slight neg is we had a room which overlooked the high street, this means you can hear everything going on like people going home/leaving various pubs late in the evening.
The breakfast was ok but it could have been hotter. The location of the hotel was perfect but you need a different postcode for the hotel carpark not the postcode given for the hotel.
There was as noise in the building several times overnight which sounded like either water buzzing through pipes or a beer chiller cycling, which was annoying. The noise woke us up on all occasions.
Buena ubicación, cama cómoda, música en directo
No había ascensor, habitación y baño pequeños y con el suelo completamente inclinado. Las mesas del bar estaban pegajosas.
Lovely people, very helpful, rooms, food and location excellent. Highly recommended.
Super breakfast and a good amount of choices! The room was nice and spacious with a large bed. And the bedding was superior quality. The building itself has so much history, and is full of character with stained glass and it's old revolving door entrance - just beautiful!!!!
I didn't realise that you had to pay for parking separately, I just saw that it had parking when I booked. But it wasn't too expensive, so not a big problem.
Convenient
Nothing
Its a good hotel and stayed many times. Stop off to Scotland
They now charge you £6.50 to park your car. Paying for a room, then hidden costs. Turning in to Ryan Air
everything is fine
noisy toilet in room 26
Great staff and lovely location
The location was right in the centre of the town
A bit tired but not surprising given its age
Clean friendly good location
Expensive breakfast as the room for one night was £75
Ottima posizione e con parcheggio privato
Buona colazione
Very clean, friendly and helpful staff location was perfect for our needs
Not enough milk and coffee left in the rooms not really a problem just had to ask for more at reception and was given straight away
The breakfast was excellent. The selection was brilliant
Possibly a lift
The hotel was very good room was clean and in good decore staff friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a good location
Clean frendly staff well situated
Room bit small
Location was perfect with friendly staff and cheaper than the local Premier Inn
Nothing just need to remember it's an old building so it will have quirks
Breakfast was great and the location of the hotel is great very near the centre.
Nothing
The location, the staff.
Being asked for my email address etc twice when I was only going for one night !
The food was very good as were the staff.
This property is an historic coaching inn and is very well located in the centre of Penrith
The furniture and decor in our very expensive ‘feature room’ were very shabby and dated. The room actually smelled of sweat. Everything needed replacing. You cannot offer a supposedly top rate room which smells of human sweat and where the sofa and chairs were notably worn and dirty.
Central location, good sized bedroom and friendly staff
great location & very friendly staff
Hotel position
Facilities in the room poor. No handle on the toilet cleaning brush! Shower leaked all over the bathroom floor. Buckets catching water in reception when it rained!!!
In town centre with onsite parking.
Quilt was too thick for summer use.
Great location
Nothing to complain about
Had a great stay staff excellent.
Having to pay for their carpark 6.50 a bit much when you are staying in their hotel.
A traditional historic hotel right in the centre of town. Great breakfast and friendly staff.
It was really hot in the room as it was high summer but there was a fan. The decor is a little tired and old-fashioned but has its charm!
Great atmosphere
Cocktails werent very nice nor presented well
Great central location and lovely staff
Comfy bed
Nothing
Lovely building and charm food was ok
The room was so hot no air con Silly fan to keep it cool did nothing to reduce the heat Bottled water was so hot we couldn't drink it
Friendly staff, helpful and lovely single room
Breakfast excellent plenty of choice staff great nothing was a priblem room was great and clean .staff were always on hand if you needed anything
Nothing
Lovely modern room in really old historic building
Our room was a little warm (it was the summer)
Perfect location, secure parking, friendly staff, comfortable room….the friendliest hotel I have stayed in for a long time!
Nothing, apart from leaving!
Could not fault the staff, who were all helpful, lovely and attentive. The room was a good size, clean and comfortable. Nice shower. Plenty of parking and at £6.50 a night good value. The location is right in the middle of the town so there are plenty of other shops, bars and restaurants to go to.
Good buffet secretion. However the cooked breakfast was not great. Undercooked 1/2 of a tomato, one mushroom, greasy hash browns. Over cooked vegan sausage (probably from frozen). Scrambled egg which was more of a layered omelette than light and fluffy. Toast soggy. We also had a loft room, with no air conditioning, so extremely hot, despite the fan. Other than that a great short break.
Central good parking room lovely and clean shower fantastic lovely food
Nothing
Very tired sticky tables
Central and clean
Hidden car park charges. Shaheen one of the managers
room
Good Location, Exceptional staff, good shower, good breakfast and good bed
Super secure parking
It was good across the board
Friendly staff
Street noise
Posizione strategica. Elegante con molta storia da raccontare...
Nulla
The food was very good, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was nice. We really appreciated the provision of car charging points.
It would have been good to have been informed in advance that we would need to bring our own charging cable to use the hotel charge points. We don't normally carry a cable, so weren't able to charge after all.
Location was perfect and beds very comfortable.
Issues with the electric car charger
The room was larger than most hotel rooms and very comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. The location couldn’t have been better
Very little. But that’s because it’s a very old building
Location, and private parking
The room was very noisy in the morning coming from the kitchen, i think .
The room was spacious and up to date it was clean and comfortable and there was extras for our dog
The service was a bit slow in the restaurant and the food a bit variable
Central location, bed comfy, bar next door, plenty of seating to have a drink downstairs.
No telephone in room so couldn’t ring reception, had to traipse up 3 flights to report an issue as no lift. Two shower heads was v confusing - took us quite some time to work out how to work the shower! The car park is charged extra and the code changes every day!
Location was great- right in the centre of town
Our room was at the front- the road outside is extremely busy and the noise from people returning home after a good night out was excessive!
Great atmosphere and in the middle of the center. Nice large room. Amazing breakfast.
Nothing. Be mindful if you travel with a lot of luggage that there is no elevator.
A couple of the staff serving dinner were excellent. Reception and breakfast staff not welcoming nor engaging.
Poor quality food. Very dated decor. Generally a shabby, run down feel. Having to pay £6.50 extra to park in their car park.
It’s old world charm
Historical
Very traditional hotel. Nice room, helpful staff and good food
Tricky to find hotel parking
The location, the staff, the beds and being very dog friendly.
The bar shut early. No reading light, by the bed.
Location was excellent, right in the centre.
Rooms were dated and could do with a bit of a refresh, small rips in wallpaper etc. The room was extremely small with little floor space for luggage, it was a tight squeeze (we were 2 adults with 1 case). Our shower was incredibly unpredictable, the water was scolding hot and when we tried to turn the temperature down we lost water pressure, on occasions lost water altogether. Breakfast was included in our price but we only went one morning, it wasnt up to much so ended up going out the other days
Central location and it allowed pets ( for a fee)
Rooms very uncomfortably hot and no way to turn heating done. Had to resort to an electric fan. The staff at breakfast were very miserable and only cared to see if they made sure they captured every cost and expense. Very little customer service
Amazing history of the building, comfy room and brilliant location in the centre of Penrith
Finding the car was difficult, with no clear directions.
Location
The noise not sure where the music was coming from but we could hear till and took a while to get to sleep
Love the staff, decor and food.
That it was only 4 nights.
The room was very good, comfortable, clean and tidy. The location was excellent The breakfast and dinner were good and the staff helpful.
Can't think of anything
Room was clean and tidy. Bed was comfortable
A little dated. No air con, no fridge. Rooms only have desk size fan
No aircon.
The location was ideal. The building is a lovely old building with lots of character. The staff were lovely. The room was clean, comfortable, and well equipped. We had dinner and breakfast, which was really good.
The only downside was that we stayed during the heatwave, and the room was really warm. Opening the windows allowed air in but also noise from the main street.
Friendly and helpful staff. Nice breakfast. The room was clean.
We were on the top floor with no air conditioning. It was 27.5 degrees in the room. Literally could not sleep.
Change of hotel policy. Had to pay for breakfast!
Having paid 6 weeks in advance and thought it was b&b. Had to pay for breakfast. Should have contacted me to let me know.
Beautiful place to stay
Bed was very comfortable I loved playing chess in seats in front reception The singer was really enjoyable and good Delicious breakfast I loved the fruit in jar Car parking easy and secure
Nothing all good
Really helpful lady on evening reception and great young person in the bar area
Nothing
Wonderful breakfast with real teapots Friendly staff
Traffic noise from street
room good
AC
Location and friendly staff
The shower was only lukewarm, one of the bedside lights didn’t work.
Friendly staff especially Mr Dawes the General Manager 👍🏻 Location was perfect. Great bed. Excellent choice for breakfast.
N/A
The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was amazing before a bike ride. Space for bikes.
All good.
Everything available you need or you asked for
The downstairs decor & layout is lovely, as is the friendliness of the staff
It needed more attention to detail, for example we felt some areas could have been cleaner
It’s location
Although the room was spacious, it might have benefited from voile curtains. It was hard to know if the people working in the offices opposite, could see into the room.
The evening meal was superb. Breakfast was excellent. The bed was comfortable. An added bonus was that there was a fan in the room, very welcome during the heat wave!
Room was very clean and spacious bathroom was amazing
Very central Professional, welcoming staff
Bit dated, but it added to the character Breakfast a bit bland.
Friendly and professional staff. Everything I needed in my room and more.
Nothing - it’s a very old and quirky building with lots of stairs.
Location
Staff seemed pretty disinterested.
Location and bar area
The bedroom was more like a prison cell. One high window from which you could not see out
Lovely hotel. The male receptionist was really nice but didn't catch his name. Breakfast was very good, plenty to choose from. Good location for where we wanted to be.
The waiting staff were quite grumpy and not particularly friendly..got the feeling they were short staffed. The pillows on our bed were very hard and lumpy. I asked a female receptionist the next day if we could have some others..her reply was hard, lumpy pillows come as standard and they don't have any others. Plug hole in bath was full of hair. Other than this nice hotel.
Lovely hotel. Roast of the day was very nice (best cauliflower cheese we've tasted). Very good choice of cooked breakfasts.
Despite booking evening meal for a specific time the first member of staff said that they were very busy and it would be better to come back an hour later (thankfully a second member of staff sorted things out).
Staff were nice and friendly, lounge area really comfortable and the rooms were ideal. Would def stay again. Nice break away.
Nothing
Location and great staff, breakfast was also nice, giving a range of choices. Bar was surprisingly reasonably priced. Ale was ok, but tasted like it was nearing the keg opened too long date. Bar staff were freindly and helpful.
Saturday night sounded like there was a club nearby, the beat of base was continual until gone 2am, even with earplugs. Although tables were cleaned, they still felt sticky. Carpet in restaurant looked like it needed a good clean. Room was tiny view of roof and chimneys.
