Dakota Edinburgh

The hotel is located well for pre and post travel from Edinburgh airport. The hotel definitely has the boutique feel and the Executive room was lovely. We had dinner in the restaurant on our first evening and food was first class and Connor was very attentive and friendly.

Had an issue on the first morning of our stay when the shower stopped working part of the way through using. Phoned reception to advise and was told I needed to speak to duty manager. I did speak to here that morning and found her to be quite dismissive and was told the hotel was not aware contractors were turning off the water that morning which I found hard to believe. Only after being pushed did she admit that the maintenance team were aware of the repair. She saw the shower facilities as a small unimportant part of our stay. After a long discussion we were offered 4 free drinks at the bar, which I did not take up. Through out our stay we found communication with staff very mixed. Room package was to include 2 glasses of champagne and canapés daily during our 3 night stay but only received this on our first night of stay. Also staff at breakfast time were very mixed in their service delivery. Although we went for breakfast after 9am and they stopped serving at 10am, it appeared no one filled up empty serving bowls of cereal etc when it was gone it was gone.

De airco is tijdens het poetsen uitgezet en de kaartjes in de schakelaar zijn weggehaald; 's avonds dus erg warm na terugkomst. Air conditioning didn’t work and we could have used another hand towel and wash cloths. Why no wash cloths? The mattress was worn, where the edge collapsed and you slid right off of it. Mini fridge would have been a nice amenity.

They assured me they had an airport shuttle over the course several weeks. They never mentioned that you had to make a reservation so I ended up spending over $100 on taxi fees.

Конечно очень атмосферное место. Но это жуть как далеко от центра. Рядом есть остановка, да. Но ходит там только 43, один раз так и на пришел. Пришлось шагать по трассе 15 минут на другие альтернативные. Там больше автобусов и быстрее они. А с 43 ехать до станции жд 1 час.

Изначально я поселилась, понимая, что это не близко, но ради Северного моря. До него тоже пехать 15 минут)))). И виды там и запахи ну так на разочек посмотреть. Город или это район не поняла, очень спокойный, никого в округе нет)). Совсем рядом супермаркет большой. Внутри отеля есть своя кухня и бар, конечно с ценами выше даже чем в центре. И свет - я понимаю что это такая стилистика, но хотя бы в ванной чтобы покрасится сродни же было сделать его ярче? Красилась на ощупь

The proximity of the hotel was good for getting around. Good breakfast. Drove 5 hours to get there only to be told no places left to eat in dining area or bar. I was told it was a block day and they're were no places left from the start of the day.If you cannot service your customers don't have so many bedrooms. They also take coaches maybe that's why it was full. Went out to eat then came back for a drink, walked into bar was told it was waitress service only and go find a seat. Later we was brought a drinks menu I ordered and waited, 25 mins later our drinks came. Not happy. Safe to say just had breakfast here didn't have evening meal or drinks here again. Really dissapointed. Will not stay here again

Great room, small but well planned out. Staff were super helpful at check in, very patient with my toddler. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. We only stayed overnight before an early flight but the shuttle was easy to book and convenient. Easily to the high street

The shuttle books up quickly and only runs sometimes, so make sure you book in advance ( we got lucky).

Lovely hotel, a great little find with really comfortable bedrooms. The staff were all lovely. We had a junior suite that was so spacious and exactly what we needed for two nights away. The bathroom was full of amenities and lovely robes. Bed super comfortable, rooms quiet and well appointed. The hotel itself was in an easy location where you could get an uber to the local train station and for £6 return get a 20minute train to Edinburgh. Parking was plentiful. Everything was decorated beautifully and it just felt as lovely as other Dakota hotels despite being out of main town.

As someone who frequently stays in other Dakotas - I was keen that we took the opportunity to upgrade to a junior suite with the hotel directly. The blurb states “Complimentary Glass of Champagne & Canapes”- we saw neither the entire time we were there. On check in the lovely friendly receptionist made a point of telling us the minibar was included as well as breakfast with our upgrade. On check out the other receptionist charged us for breakfast stating our booking.com booking was room only. Had we not had slow service at breakfast and stood for ages waiting each morning, plus having to toast your own bread and rarely get a chance to ask a staff member for a second coffee - we would have been happier paying the £22 pppn. The first night I was not feeling well so wanted to take advantage of room service which is advertised everywhere as being available till 9pm. They turned it off at 8.25pm, never to turn back on so I ended up having to go downstairs to order food in the bar as the restaurant was also full. Overall we had a lovely stay but it felt a bit haphazard in terms of bar/restaurant offering.

The view was good. The bathroom - toiletries good, power shower excellent with a good sized cubical. Towels were well sized & the towel rail worked. A good selection of beverages etc in the room & good sized bottled water. The lifts were fast. All the staff we encountered were well trained, engaging & personable. Lively bar in the evening & an excellent breakfast. Plenty of free parking.

The bed was too hard & the pillows were dreadful. The linen was OK, I did expect better.

The decor and standard of the hotel was lovely, the free parking was also a bonus.

The location was a bit away from everything, check in was 3pm which I feel is quite late for the amount you pay for the room, then our room wasn’t ready to almost 4pm and we were supposed to be at a concert for 3:30pm so the room not being ready at check in time made us very late and in the morning the house keeping were knocking on our door wanting us out so they could clean our room from 9am and check out wasn’t until 11am. They knocked 3 different times before we finally just gave in and checked out. We paid £280 per room and had two rooms - £560 and only able to actually relax in our rooms from 4pm to 9am (17 hours) is really quite extortionate.

Das Hotel liegt ein bisschen im Niemandsland, zu Fuß schwer erreichbar. Dafür fährt aber direkt vor dem Haus ein Bus in 40‘ nach Edinburgh Waverley

Dakota is a beautiful hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful. Super comfy bed, air con, fridge, coffee machine. The supermarket is conveniently located next to the hotel. We only stayed 1 night and had an evening event so wasn't able to sample the restaurant but sure that too would meet the same standards as the hotel itself.

The Edinburgh Dakota was a great location for a weekend break. I needed to head over to Fife so staying near the bridge made perfect sense. The property generally very comfortable and the room was well appointed. The Dakota Grill was everything I hoped it would be with excellent steaks.

Had dinner here last night, Staff were extremely friendly and attentive from start to finish. Made sure we were always topped up with drinks and the food was amazing! By far the best steak I have ever had in my life. The only downside of the evening was our eyes were bigger than our belly's and we unfortunately had to leave lots behind. Special mention to Rocco who was our server for the evening, charming and polite young man who did an stunning job, well done you mate. 10/10 Experience.

A nice welcome from the night manager when we arrived very late at night. Good location for travel from the airport. Nice bedroom, comfortable bed and a great shower in the bathroom!

Completely unlike other Dakota hotels I have stayed in such as Manchester and Newcastle. They have put extremely hard mattresses in every room so impossible to sleep everybody waking with sore back Standard of room was extremely poor with shower leaking no AC television on the wall not straight clothes around missing

The staff in all departments were excellent and professional during our stay. They couldn't do enough for me and my wife. Even down to remembering we were there to attend a wedding and asking how it went and if we needed help booking taxis to the event. Will definitely stay again

The hotel is stunning, spotlessly clean and luxurious. The staff were all wonderful and couldn't be more helpful. The shuttle service was brilliant and our driver, Carl was charming and lovely. Gorgeous place! Decor is fab.

Stayed in Dakota Sunday night, as we had a early flight in the morning, excellent hotel, very welcoming, staff were brilliant nothing to much trouble, highly recommend 5 star ⭐

Ok this is funny. I was tired from traveling for 24 hours and they let me check in early. I woke up at 5 and thought I had just slept about 10 hours and thought it was morning so I got ready and checked out for my next destination. But it was only 5 in the afternoon so I would say I had a very expensive nap. I kind of wish someone had questioned me about checking out so early. It wasn’t dark until I was on the train to Berwick on Tweed and I asked my friend “is it night?” I was very confused and jet lagged.

The hotel was fine and the amenities were up to par. Our issue was this: We arrived on May 12th to check-in and with no instructions, temporarily parked our rental in the lot. We checked-in, dropped our bags and we left for the airport to return the rental. We were advised that the hotel has an automated charhing system for parking. and we informed the desk clerk that we were not parking a cae over night. She did nothing to stop the system from charging us, but we only found out after we were home and Enterprise emailed that a "citation" had been issued for our vehicle. I've disputed the charge but Enterprise is only forwarding the charge. The Dakota as made it very difficult to contact them, though I emailed them through there site and have not heard back. This was inappropriate and there lack of response tells us that they do not care. Be forwarned that if you park a car in there lot with no intention of leaving it over night, you will be charged within 15 minutes. Poor customer service in this regard. I do hope the hotel staff sees this. Gonzalez-Morera on May 12th, 2026.

We have stayed in the Dakota hotel many time before & always been extremely happy with the hotel and its staff & service. I booked this for our anniversary & upgraded our room to a suite. The hotel was as usual exceptional, staff were very welcoming & extremely professional. The way my wife & I was treated made this stay even more special than previous stays, This whole trip has been outstanding. Well done again Dakota👏👏👏

The hotel was very good, but the reception staff were excellent. They were universally helpful and friendly. This aspect of my stay relly stood out from all my other accommodations over the last couple of years.

The hotel foyer bar area was stunning, loved the candles/ low lighting / fireplace, the rooms are a good size, quiet and comfortable. The staff at reception were always very friendly

Felt the bathroom wasn't that clean, I could smell the strong smell of urine around toilet,only one of the flushes worked and it wasn't the best at all. The shower seal seemed ineffective and you ended up with a big pool of water on the floor . When I eventually got to bed it was quite late and as soon as I turned over the duvet there was black mould spots all over , I was too tired to wait to get it replaced but they did apologies when I reported it in morning.

We had a great twin room, very spacious & quiet. Would visit again. Well placed for the airport. Only a 20 minute drive at 9.00 am
