Location, the shuttle service from the airport to hotel, the shuttle to the port, the the view of the Mediterranean Sea, the staff. Reasonable rate.
close to centre and cruise boats close by
The room we had was for disabled people and the toiletry and shower flooded the floor easily
Great location next to cruise port and waterfront’
Loved all of it
Tidiness and proximity to the cruise port
Very noisy through the night, loud music until well after 2am
Location to the cruise terminal, train station and the old city
Air conditioner was not working well.
Clean, location close to train station and Sea front opposite, cool beach bar (nothing to do with hotel)
Considering the main reason we stayed here, the reason anyone stays here, is because your catching a ship I found it ridiculous that when we enquired about getting to the ship the staff only told us about a private car transfer of €65 for four of us! The ship is about 2 kms away, ok with cases and children and soaring heat you can’t possibly walk it but this was a complete rip off and here’s why; 1 minute walk is the train station where you can catch the port bus which takes you to your ship for €6 each! In fact because the queue for the bus was so big I asked a cab driver how much and he charged me €7 each to go in a private car. So my advice, ignore reception and don’t panic you can sort out your own transfer and save some euros for extra gelato! The hotel was tired and shabby, it’s going to need a major overhaul soon.
LA UBICACION ERA BUENA. LA AHBITACION ERA AMPLIA Y ERA UN DUPLEX.
EL TRATO AL HACER EL CHECK IN, NO NOS EXPLICARON NADA, LE PEDI UN MAPA Y ME DIJO QUE NO TENIAN. ME DIJERON QUE SERIA RECOMENDABLE QUE CENARA EN EL HOTEL QUE LOS RESTAURANTES DE CIVITAVECCHIA EN LUNES ESTABAN TODOS CERRADOS, Y ESTABA TODO ABIERTO. NOS COBRARON UNA BARBARIDAD POR SUBIRNOS EN UN AUTOBUS HACIA EL CRUCERO, Y NOS DIJERON QUE NINGUN TAXI LLEGABA HASTA LA REGION DE EMBARQUE DEL CRUCERO, Y LUEGO VIMOS QUE TODOS LLEGABAN A LA ZONA DE EMBARQUE.
Localização excepcional. Bom atendimento. Restaurante poderia ser melhor.
One staff was delightful and friendly, apart from her, most of them were grumpy.
Most of the food served at breakfast were stale eg. croissant and other pastries. There was only one staff preparing the breakfast and it was late already, no milk.
Location excellent & staff very friendly & helpful
Location ,convenient for cruise terminal passenger
Hotel is a bit dated
Location good. Room. we were given a room with a disabled shower ie one had to sit down to use it, very inconvenient; it leaked and had intermittent temperature ie not constant hot or cold. The room was scruffy: scuffed wall and shabby carpets. Breakfast was a disgrace: stale bread, no egg options, bar cold scrambled eggs, to sum up - rubbish. To add insult when I requested a kettle before arrival I was told it would cost 20 euros with tea bags. fIND SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Booked 4 rooms May 2025 for 12 people for a cruise in July 2026. A month before we are to arrive the hotel canceled all four rooms on us.They offer another place but it was not central and was a big downgrade. We then were not able to find a place for 12. So we had to divide our family up into 3 different locations. This hotel has a reputation of canceling reservations. Be aware, they are not nice. I would never recommend this hotel.
Booked through travel agent and hotel totally unacceptable. Lift from entrance to reception apparently only for luggage. On checking for transport to cruise next day we were told to book next day. Regarding rooms, extremely dated and various problems regarding showers(hot water and pressure) next day on inquiring about transport to cruise ship none available. Reception said unable to contact a taxi firm then offered a booking which turned out to be their own people carrier. The driver said he would not charge for luggage which we had no intention of paying. The cost was 150 euros for around one mile.please never use this hotel
Great location and pleasant staff
The hotel could do with a complete refurbishment. Although it is clean and comfortable it really needs a full redo
Location
No restaurant for dinner no bar for a drink not enough staff Breakfast a nightmare too many people
It is not often i write a bad review but this hotel is an exception. We arrived in 28 degrees heat. No complimentary water not even a glass offered. The porter watched is bring our cases up the stairs and in the morning watched all guests bring their cases down. Very odd. Christmas decorations still up. Dirty rooms. Walls scuffed beyond belief. Breakfast one of the worst. Stale bread. Generally it is run down. Staff who don't look like they want to be there and already filling in other application forms. We like most people booked before going on a cruise. I will be informing the company we booked this with to have a think about whether they continue to direct people here. Generally just a bad hotel in most areas that needs a lot of money spent on it. Definitely not 4 star.
Location
Beds were extremely uncomfortable
Rien
L'hotel a refusé de m'aider lorsque j'ai checked out 3 heure après avoir checked in.
Location was close to the center and beach.
Staff were unfriendly and made no effort to listen when we explained that we were two families traveling together. One staff member repeatedly asked for our passports and reservation details, even though another staff at reception had already checked everything and confirmed that we were simply waiting for our luggage to be taken to storage while our rooms were being prepared. When I tried to clarify the situation, she shushed us and insisted on her own incorrect interpretation. We did not feel welcomed at all, and the interaction left a very negative first impression. The rooms were outdated and felt unclean.
We were given a room on the second floor where windows are super small. As a result of a mistake of mine, we had to give back our room 2 hours after we checked in. We asked reception to put back our room on the market and refund us if they could get new customers. Being high season for cruises, they would have got new customers in 1mn. They refused. Not very nice - money wasted for me and also for the hotel.
Small good staff
Fix the tile in floor
Location and lovely staff
Nothing
We booked this hotel for 2 nights prior to a cruise. First impression was very much one of faded glory and it is pretty run down. A couple of hours after having checked in we realised that we had made a mistake and also booked another (and nicer) hotel. The receptionist refused to refund the second night. He quoted that cancellation notice was 2 days but clearly had no intention of showing any kind of flexibility. In such a situation, it would be normal in hospitality especially when the hotel is full and they could resell the room with high probability. They did not even propose to refund in case they could resell the room.
Location excellent
Nothing not to like
No complaints adequate
The television didn’t work on the English Channel apparently due to the heat it affects the antenna
Não gostei ! O hotel é Velho , não tem manutenção. O banheiro alagou o quarto . Os homens na recepção antepaticos ! Não recomendo

Dated hotel poor facilities
nothing, simply it was a waste of my time and money
the room and bed quality, the hotel is poorly run and needs a substantial dose of care and attention.
Very clean, authentic, & close to the shipping pier
Air conditioning didn’t work well.
Wonderful overall experience. Very nice rooms. Very friendly staff. The only reason not 5 stars was the transfers to and from airport they advertised was a little pricey but overall a good experience
Did not have time, n/a
Shower safety
Bed was comfortable and air con worked very well
Transfers very unorganised and expensive Reception chaotic Breakfast poor choice and rude staff
Being close to the port, restaurants and beach
Rooms seem dated
Location nothing else
Staff were rude Breakfast was poor We emailed twice before our arrival to pre book the shuttle and asked to pre book the shuttle to the port he took our room number and said he would save us a place but never did and the bus was full so had to get an uber costing €49 And the staff member was very rude
Convenience
Communication
We stayed at this hotel prior to embarking on a cruise. This was booked through a travel agent who had included transfers from the hotel to the ship which were free ( I did check their webpage at the time and it was clear that this was the case, it has subsequently been changed). I had been advised to book the transfer times the night before, but on attempting to the receptionist informed me that he was unable to do so and I’d have to book in the morning. In the morning ( had to wait till 8am) I attended at reception and the same person was able to book me on the last transfer and then informed me that it would be 15€ per bag (size did not matter) there were 6 of us, 2 bags each = 210€ for a ten minute journey. We were two late for booking other taxis so although there was no mask or weapons I handed over the cash. That was the downside of this hotel which is unfortunate as the rest of our stay was more than acceptable, yes it is tired, but it was clean and comfortable and the food was of a good standard. I would have marked this as a solid 4 if not for the hidden transfer costs and the delay for whatever reason in not advising us of costs when first approached
This hotel proved to be a good choice for an overnight stay prior to a cruise, as it’s situated between the railway station and the cruise port. The entrance foyer is quite grand, and the welcome was warm and efficient. The bedroom was fine. Rather dated, but ok for one night. Handy to have a fridge in the room.Shower was disappointing, as water wasn’t very hot. Buffet breakfast was included, and was ok, though not a great selection - and the hot breakfast items weren’t hot. Overall, the hotel served its purpose for a quick stopover.
Clean, big room
Was told no room on bus to cruise terminal for two of us, but they found room for an Italian family of 4. Found this racist and marred our stay
Très agréable front de mer. Petit dej au top. Belle équipe

Great location

Close to port
Was not that clean. There were toenail clippings on the floor. No hot water
The location of the hotel and the staff friendliness, specially the reception staff and tbe bellboy.
The room carpet is old and dusty like if it needs deep cleaning. The shower floor if filfy. And there was no hot water in the morning. The window does not close. There are no blackout curtains.
Pomóc ze strony personelu. Transport do hotelu. Bliskość portu. Dobre śniadanie.
Friendly and efficient service

The people that work there were terrific
N?A
It was near the cruise port
The room was too small
We booked a junior suite that was split level - which I did not see until confirmation (but still did not think much about it). When we arrived in room - which was great and lovely balcony - we found the bathroom on one level and a spiral stairway to the bedroom. The pictures don’t really show this. My wife has a hidden lack of mobility and was not able safely to go up and down these stairs. I went back to the reception to explain and at first he was very unhelpful. After about 10 mins of fussing he found a small double on another floor. I asked if this was the same price but can see in fact when looking in advance it’s not. He told me it was.
I felt the reception staff where rude and on a separate occasion the next morning two where having a heated debate about something in front of the guest and seemed unaware that I was there and it was unprofessional. 2nd point is that for a 10 min walk to the cruise they charge (for 2 passengers) €35 for a transfer to the ship !!
Excellent services offered in a warm atmosfere in this family run 4 star hotel! We arrived late and ended up in the wron terminal at Fco airport but Matteo at the front office helped us locate our driver Germano that brought ua safly to the hotel. Matteo also arranged for a late metal for us in the lovely Bistrot 34 where we enjoyed the best italian home made pasta After a nice sleep in comfortable beds we had the best breakfast served by friendly staff and the left the hotel with their superb shuttle service down to our cruise ship. Super well arranged service from warm and friendly staff, will deffinitely return back!!!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Grand Experience – I Will Absolutely Return I recently stayed at the San Giorgio Hotel, and I can confidently say this was a true five-star experience. The service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff was extremely generous, attentive, and genuinely committed to making my stay comfortable. Every request was handled with professionalism and warmth, which made me feel welcomed and well taken care of. My room was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged—exactly what I needed after long days of exploring. The hotel strikes a wonderful balance between classic charm and modern comfort. One detail I really appreciated was the internet service. It was fast, reliable, and easy to connect to—something that matters when traveling internationally. What truly set this hotel apart, however, was the personalized service for day trips. The staff went above and beyond to help arrange local experiences tailored specifically for me. That level of attention and customization made my time in Civitavecchia effortless and memorable. I also found everything to be very reasonable in terms of value, especially considering the quality of service and overall experience. Without question, I will be returning to the San Giorgio Hotel in the future. This stay was more than just comfortable—it was a grand experience. Highly recommended.
Location, view, menu and wine list
Breakfast was chaotic! Running out of items, tables for people to sit and general mayhem. Charging guests 35 euros to take us to the cruise port was taking advantage. On our return we paid 6 euros from the port to the train station so this was disappointing. Most inconvient however was the party that went on right above our room until 12.40am. This kept us awake and therefore we did not have a good sleep.
Old style
The mattress
Location, clean rooms
I'd been to Civitavecchia before, so I knew this hotel well....
Include breakfast.....
muri sporchi , moquette macchiata
Loved the chocolate and pistachio ice cream.
Nothing springs to mind.
Didn’t enjoy breakfast
Hot food was not replenished. Toaster was broken. Absolutely not worth the money. The stay was not great.
The location was very convenient to both the train station and the cruise port. The staff was very friendly. The air conditioning n the room worked.
The mattresses felt like they were 50 years old. They were old spring mattresses that were very noisy and extremely uncomfortable to sleep on. The springs actually left bruises and one made a loud noise like it broke in the middle of the night. The bathroom had mold. When we asked about a shuttle to the cruise port, they wanted 55 euros to take 3 of us less than a mile down the road. Instead we walked about a half mile to the free shuttle stop. It was a pleasant and very easy walk. By comparison, the hotel shuttle from the airport, over 30 miles away, was 170 euros.
Location
No bistro open in the evening. Tried to charge 50 euro for early check in … to clean the room . Room not that clean anyway!
Property is well located in front of the sea
The staff working at reception on our check out was rude and incompetent! Would definitely advise a long manner course or a change of career.
I booked a room at this hotel many months in advance of the sailing date of our cruise ship from the Port of Civitavecchia. Two days before our check-in date, the hotel informed me that my booking had been cancelled because they had “overbooked” the room. I suspect the real reason is that they could get more money for the room since it was the night before the cruise ship sailed. I was promised a refund by the hotel. At the time of writing this review, that was three months ago. Despite many emails and phone calls to the hotel I have not received by refund for my booking that THEY cancelled. So, if you have a booking at this hotel, beware that you may not get any refund if they cancel your booking.
We had a two nights' pre-cruise stay at San Giorgio Hotel and frankly we cannot understand the negative reviews - it's like we were not in the same hotel. Actually, we were very satisfied and found no fault. A beautiful classic and classy hotel, with old world charm, warmth, and intimacy, contrary to many icy cold and impersonal modern hotels. The hotel is at the main road between the Train Station and the Cruise Terminal, at the sea front. A beautiful park with palms, nice for strolling, separates it from the sea. You can find plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. It is conveniently located close both to the Train Station and the Cruise Terminal. It is a short walking distance from the Train Station, and as to the Cruise Terminal, young people can even walk from the hotel to the ship if they desire. Elder people can go to the Train Station and get cheap, frequently running buses from there right to their specific cruise ship. From the time we entered we noted the good vibe of a classic Italian hotel, somehow reminding us of the 'Comissario Montalbano' TV series. This feel continued in our rooms. We stayed the first night at a Classic Room and the second at a Deluxe one, so we had a wider view. Both rooms were clean and tastefully decorated, with lights, TV and air-condition working fine, and the beds were comfortable. The spacious Deluxe room is like a loft, on two floors, the upper one (mezzanine) being the bedroom and the lower one a two-floor high lounge with a sofa and the toilette. Booking a Deluxe room is definitely worth it, and there are some with a balcony. Both rooms had bathrooms with full bathtub. The Deluxe room had a gorgeous bathroom with bidet and a very large bathtub. Toiletries and water pressure / temperature were fine. We found personnel and service excellent, helpful and kind. Free, good European style breakfast and free Wi-FI were very welcomed. Overall we had a beautiful stay at San Giorgio Hotel and we clearly intend to stay there again during our next stay in Civitavecchia. If like us you prefer a calm, classy and classic ambience, we absolutely recommend it.
Booked by travel agent as part of cruise holiday. Had read reviews and thought I was prepared, but I was shocked by the standard of this hotel. Entry to hotel looks nice, but rooms are something else. Room seemed grubby, and lacked anything of a good standard. Felt that you didn’t want to touch anything in there. Bathroom was poor. Complete scam with transfer to the ship, 32 euros each for 10 people in a minibus and a 10 minute ride. No choice but to do this, as too far to walk with cases. Will never set foot in this establishment again.

We were scheduled to stay at the Hotel San Giorgio on October 27, 2025, before our cruise the next day, with a hotel shuttle arranged to pick us up at the Rome airport. Due to flight cancellations, we missed our arrival date, our reservation, and the shuttle. I informed the hotel that we would now be arriving on October 28 - the same day as our cruise. Even though we were no longer able to stay at the hotel, hotel staff member, Mette went above and beyond. She arranged an alternate shuttle service to meet us at the airport and take us directly to the port, ensuring we made our cruise on time. This level of care and service was truly unexpected and greatly appreciated. Thank you, Mette, for your outstanding help and kindness. We hope to stay at your beautiful hotel in the future.
Perfect for a pre-cruise hotel.Location is minutes to Civitavecchia train station. Faces the ocean. Nice spacious lobby with restaurant/bar indoors and outdoors.
This is a 4 star hotel on the seafront and has a lovely entrance albeit with stairs. Reception staff are very helpful. We were given room 107 and on entry were immediately disappointed. The carpet is old and faded, the shutters cannot be fixed open but worst of all were the open tread stairs to the bed on the mezzanine floor. The sofa was positively archaic but the bathroom was in a league of its own. There was a small corner bath, WC, bidet and twin basins. Missing was evidence of a shower although there was a shower curtain. Then we discovered that it pulled up from the bath and could only be handheld! The water achieved a degree of warmth but was not hot enough. Shampoos were provided and a very small bar of soap but no other facilities. The bed was uncomfortable and it was hot being on the mezzanine floor even with the windows open. Due to the weather we ate in Bistrot 34 in the hotel and our meals were good. We came down for breakfast at 9.10 and there weren't any clean tables or plates, and no evidence of the availability of any bread. The scrambled egg would have been excellent had it been hot. We would never stay here again.
Location
Balcony looking out over Mediterranean Sea was an ash tray for the roof top party. Management admitted it was a problem but was not receptive for a solution for the next guests.
I booked two rooms at Hotel San Giorgio (one double and one single), both fully paid in advance. We arrived after a 12-hour flight and a one-hour drive to reach the hotel. Upon arrival, I was informed that the single room was unavailable due to “a broken air conditioner and no water,” and since it was Sunday, no technician was available to fix it. The only alternative offered was a two-level loft-style room with one large bed downstairs and several small ones upstairs — but only one bathroom. This meant that three people had to share the same room, completely losing the privacy and comfort we had originally booked. To compensate for the issue, the man at the front desk offered complimentary transportation to the cruise port and assured us that the amount for the single room would be refunded. However, upon check-out, we were unexpectedly told that the transportation cost would be deducted from the room refund. In the end, they did not honor what was promised. It felt like they only said what was convenient at the time, leaving us as the only ones affected. The hotel overall feels old, damp, and poorly maintained, with visible humidity and a musty smell on the ceilings and walls. The carpet is worn and gives an unclean impression, and the shower floods the bathroom floor even when used carefully. The Wi-Fi is extremely slow, making even simple online tasks difficult. Another surprising detail: even still water is not included — it is charged separately. I had never seen that in any hotel, regardless of how simple. The only positive aspect was the friendly and attentive service in the restaurant. Overall, the experience was disappointing. The hotel does not deliver what it promises nor uphold the standards expected for its price and rating. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again.
