Nova Inn Yellowknife

Nothing worth liking when there is financial. mishandling, We had booked for two days. The hotel charged for one day in advance and for the second day, plus a deposit of CAD 250 at the time of check-in. The amount charged at the time of check-in (one day's charge and CAD 250) was returned and my card was charged for the total booking of two days. This is reflected on my credit card statement that I have shared with the hotel. So, they have charged me for three days. However, they are refusing to return the one-day extra charge. This amounts to negligence / fraud. I will not recommend anyone to book with this hotel. Totally disappointing. The property being pet friendly, rooms smell of pets. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful but that does not help much,

Very poor room maintenance. The carpet was smelling. The furniture had scratches, paint peeling off the wall. Pet smell all over. On top of that having been charged extra for one day is simply not acceptable.

No parking available at the hotels annex building, very limited crockery in the kitchenette, air conditioning/ventilation was poor.

Rooms are good except for cracked floor tile as you get out of the shower. Staff was excellent. Beds are getting old and tired and a 30” TV is a little small to view

Location is on main road, relatively walkable to city center. A bit of a walk to old town but ok for people who are fit. Not sure about breakfast. Check in experience was good. The staff who helped me was really kind and courteous. The room we got was further away from the elevator, so foot traffic was minimal. Otherwise I could imagine people hearing footsteps at night, as the floor is pretty loud when people walk by.

The elevator smelled of dog stench and the carpet in the corridors was really old and stained. Carpet in the room was old and stained as well but didn't smell. Bathroom was reasonably clean.

A great place to stay in Yellowknife with all amenities in place. Additionally there is a an house restaurant, gym, sauna. The reception staff were exceptional in meeting customer needs. Fatima and Gemma deserve special mention for making us feel welcome. There are a few points that need mention in respect of the room, badly run down with scratches on the furniture and walls. The carpet definitely needs shampooing as the odour was obnoxious. We were told this was because the hotel is a pet friendly place. In which case, pet friendly rooms should be defined separately and allotted accordingly. Otherwise our two night stay was comfortable.

Very little. At minimum the sheets and towels were clean. Beyond that, not much to like. The carpet was filthy - filth like what you might imagine in a single room occupancy hotel on the East side of Vancouver.

Torn furniture in the lobby. An elevator that had not been vacuumed in months, no sound proofing between rooms, and a clientele hanging out front that was not welcoming. And, filthy carpets the hotel room!!

A very dirty hotel with worn carpets, torn furniture, poorly maintained rooms. Poorly trained staff and the audacity to charge CD$250 per room for damage when they clearly had existing damage which was not listed by the hotel itself. The Nova Hotel should be basically shut down until it is fully renovated and up to standard. The website is simply very misleading with its images.

Central location and walking distance to the brewery

Unclean and very tired building. The tub was not clean and the one window was cracked and repaired with tape. Paper thin walls and could hear people above as well as beside us. Very disappointing stay overall and would not recommend. Hotel needs a major upgrade.

Very Nice hotel in Yellowknife. Rooms are comfortable, clean . Bathroom is well organized. The air conditionning is a Little bit noisy. Cleaning is done on a daily basis. Staff is very helpfull and very kind. You can do laundry in the hotel from 9am to 7PM for a very good Price . Sometimes the car park can’t accomodate all the cars staying so you have to Park in the street.

Had a good experience with staying at your hotel. We were quoted a rate on the phone for the night and were pleased to be advised at the desk of a 25 percent discount which brought it to a very reasonable price for “up north”. The desk staff were very pleasant as well. We stayed on June 10th. I will hope I get the name of the desk agent close (Armin?) please accept our apologies if this isn’t right. Thanks again!

We arrived slightly worried by reading a few of the previous reviews but there was absolutely nothing to have worried about. Very friendly and helpful staff across the board and nothing too much trouble for any of them. Room was very clean and comfortable with everything you need in it. We are big coffee drinkers but asking for more was greeted with a big smile and a ‘no problem’. Bed was comfortable and room spacious. I would recommend this hotel and if ever back this is where I will stay.

Best hotel of six on our trip so far, all supposedly the same grade. Friendly staff, even overnight. Good size room with comfortable bed. Endless supply of coffee pods (just ask). We didn’t use the small restaurant but did make use of the free shuttle back to the airport as it was raining! So really can’t find a fault with the Nova.

Gutes Hotel, nicht weit entfernt vom See. Viele Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Nähe. Alles vorhanden im Zimmer. was man braucht. Sauber und ordentlich. Frühstück muss dazu gekauft werden - habe mich selbst versorgt. Natürlich sind viele der touristisch interessanten Dinge Anfang Mai in den Northern Territories noch nicht geöffnet. aber dafür hat man einen eigenen Blick auf die Dinge.

The room was far too hot and no option to turn heating down even with the window open it was very uncomfortable and not able to sleep. The coffee maker was not working correctly some times it made coffee other times it did not brew. The room was clean but in need of updating. Stayed just the 1 night

Central location but very tired.

Seems like it has been ignored for sometime. Central location, close to everything, but not much tourist support. Staff don’t seem invested. Even watering the sad plants in the lobby, no one cared to wipe the table where they spilled water all over it. Most were more concerned with socializing than waiting on anyone. Loud rap music with swearing blared in the lobby was an odd choice & somewhat disturbing. Art is incredibly dated and paints a horrible picture, particularly of local culture, or is simply absent. The only chairs in the lobby were ripped & in disrepair. There were options of rooms that could create a lounge/social space left empty. The housekeeping seems to have no organization-most days our room was still not dealt with as last as 4 or 5pm- and the room had been left open- door ajar- with all of our things available to any passerby! Pretty sure no one cared- when we told the desk they kind of shrugged their shoulders. Considering the price- we were pretty horrified. Restaurant was good but prices were high-the service there was the best we received.

深夜もフロントにはスタッフが常駐しておりオーロラ観賞からの帰りでドアを開けて欲しい時も、早朝のチェックアウトもスムーズでした。お部屋は気温にもよりますが、暖房をつけなくても十分暖かいですし、電子レンジもあり不便は無かったです。3階にレストランがあり朝食で利用しましたが空いていてすぐに利用できましたし、オムレツは野菜も入っていて美味しかったです。

Mattress is not comfortable, blanks are thin and not warm

We had a very comfortable stay at Nova Inn Yellowknife. We booked a large Deluxe Queen Suite with a kitchenette and a sitting area with a sofa, which made it feel spacious and practical for our trip. Yes, the furniture is a bit outdated, but everything was clean, warm, comfortable, and cozy - which mattered much more to us. The king-size bed was a highlight: an incredibly comfortable mattress, heavenly bedding, and fantastic double pillows. After long nights of chasing the aurora, it truly felt like bliss to sink into such a great bed and get a proper night’s sleep. The location is also excellent - perfectly situated between Old Town and downtown, with everything within easy walking distance. I also want to mention the staff, as I was surprised to see some negative comments in other reviews. Everyone we encountered during our three-night stay was genuinely kind and helpful. On our last day, we asked if a later checkout would be possible so we could align with the (free!) airport shuttle, and they happily accommodated us since it wasn’t too busy after the weekend. We had a very pleasant and comfortable stay and would definitely consider coming back.

Stayed here in March in the main building. The location is really good. Just a 10 min walk from the main downtown area, 15 min walk from the Dettah Ice Road. My room was big and at a good temperature. Bed was soft. Clean where it needs to be clean. Nothing made me disgusted. I liked the restaurant inside: Wing Freak. It was a quiet and warm place to just eat at your own place.

Some wear and tear. Wi-fi was sometimes spotty. There was only one outlet near the bed and it was somewhat awkward to get to because the bedside table was in the way. It would've been nice to have a luggage rack to lay your luggage on. The shower was just a shower head, no handheld wand. My key card had some issues.

To start with the shuttle service from the airport was a great touch from Nova, speed at other Nova hotels also. The room we had was a King room, Lot of space, the bed was amazing, slept like a log, the shower was amazing, good pressure. Temperature was set actually within. Was a great location and we basically walked everywhere, uptown, old town, supermarket close by, eateries.

The only negative was the exterior of the building as you enter needs some repair but must cope a hammering during those -30 to -40 degree days. Some staff were not that friendly. The young lady we had a check-in was very nice and the security guard that processed ùs at check-out was also very helpful.

Great location, the staff is very helpful and attentive, we request a change in room and it went smoothly. All tour operators know this hotel so it's super easy to arrange for tours and taxi pick ups from this location. It's also walking distance (15-20 min) from YK's "old town" and from grocery shopping.

The hotel is a little bit old and it shows, the mini fridge was a little too noisy at nights, and the bathtub and sink were slow to drain water (sign of water blockage in the pipes). I found the bed very comfortable, but for my partner, who suffers from back pain issues, the super soft mattresses of this hotel were a torture. This last point could be an issue just for some people though, not for your average guest.

Everything looks run down, dirty carpets, old mismatched and patched up bathroom decora (floors and tiling just patched with what ever was left over). Wifi wouldn't connect.

Employees are great. Respond to my problems very quickly. Would definitely recommend to my friends and family.

There is no more complimentary hydration lotion in the bathrooms. The restaurant could stay open a bit longer.

The windows were broken and ice was coming in, the cleaning was poor, and the electronic equipment was in bad condition.

The bed was comfortable. And that’s about it.

The staff there was extremely rude. I booked it two nights stay through Booking.com at that time. My card was charged $544.13. I messaged them and told them I was unable to make it for the first night of my reservation so on that reservation I only stayed one night member was charged $544.13. Then I needed to stay for one additional night so I booked through Booking.com once again and the hotel charged me $513.89 for one night stay then I was charged an additional $777.78 for no apparent reason at all. I requested a late checkout, but I can’t see that costing me $1700 and then some. Send over in hotel is nothing but a bunch of crooks. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone put my cash in their pocket.

It was so close to everything. The room is quite big, possibly should have a couch. Would definitely stay again. I got this as a recommendation from family.

Its definitely dated, and quite worn carpet. Somehow, all hotels source their mini fridges from the same noisiest product range. Would be better if the fridge plug was accessible so you could turn it off. The temp was set to semi tropical....with no thermostat control. (Probs just my room).

The room we were shown at first had a bad smell. However, once we mentioned it, they responded immediately and arranged a different room, so we’re satisfied.

The pictures In the room were a bit creepy. Last morning thr power went out. It came back on but side with TV went out again but I was already checking out. The walls are a bit thin, can hear the party going on next door but they had the nerve to tel security that my tv volume was too loud.

We booked three adults and were given a room with only one bed (no sofa bad). I have to pay extra for a cot. I also found an opened bottle of vodka (partially filled) under the couch cushion. Worst was the room smelled like cigarette and my wife has asthma.

Didn't have breakfast. The location was convenient.
