The location was fantastic. Very close access to the beach and walking trails. The room was clean with a nice balcony.

The room's supplies were a little skimpy. They gave us 2 dishwasher tablets, a half of a roll of paper towels and 1 extra garbage bag. There was also barely enough toilet paper. The pool & hot tub were nice but there were never any towels.

Great location. The property is extremely well maintained.

I've only been checked in 1 hour and the place is very poor. Check in was supposed to be at 4 pm but room was not ready. Had to wait an extra 30 minutes. Other guests also waiting so we were not only ones. Pre check in asks you when you want to check in but they ignore that information. We asked for 3 pm but it means nothing. Tried to get pool towels and they said sorry we are out. Finally had to insist on extra room towels to use at pool. WiFi does not work. The code they give only works in main building and does not work at the suites. Very frustrating. Room is not really airconditioned as only one portable unit in living room area that does not have capacity to cool the two bedrooms. The parking they directed us to has no room. We had to park about a block away. So we are very very unhappy. I would recommend NOT booking this resort. Poor unfriendly service. Suite does not match the list of amenities.

The location was great. The 1 bedroom condo was very comfortable. It’s great to have a BBQ on the deck to cook. The decks are also a good size. The kids loved the pool.

Central air conditioning would make our room nicer. The portable air conditioning unit made a lot of fan noise.

Well set up for a group or family. Clean and comfortable, very quiet.

Beach access wasn't quite what we expected. Still, not hard to work around and we enjoyed it.

Didn't eat there. If it hadn't been for a Wonderful, caring Staff Member named Sherry, it would have been a completely bad experience. When my Granddaughter and I arrived we were lead to a dark little motel like roomwirh a Queen bed taking up the whole space while having to pay big bucks. Sherry knew that I was taking my Granddaughter on a Special Graduation treat on the Island. The skydiving event that I had planned for her was cancelled due to inclement weather so the first teeny room we were first shown was more of the same disappointment ...when I spoke to Sherry at the front desk, she totally understood, and immediately set about getting better accommodation. If it weren't for her, I would NEVER have stayed at that Resort again.

The Resort itself is easily a 4 or 5 star depending on what you are looking for. I'm reviewing our specific Junior Suite 412-B and our disappointment on arriving to find out it did not have a BBQ on the patio (which website says all accommodation do) and the kitchen is not a full kitchen you can cook in, but a kitchenette (micro only). The website should make this very clear as well at time of booking as it is kind of expected at a beachside resort that you can cook your meals for the week. The fine print says it has a "kitchen" and highlights the microwave, but doesn't mention there isn't a stove or full size fridge. This suite was probably one of only 4 out of a 100-150 units (?) that didn't have a bbq on the patio! To further add dismay, this Suite in particular had its Bedroom window look out onto the stair landing, so there was no privacy and you couldn't sit in bed with the curtains open. Another knock on management was when I asked how I could clean the animal feces (rabbit I assume) off our patio so we could sit out there, they did not offer to get it cleaned for us, but told me where to find a broom! I had to mop my own patio! I'm sure the management will say if I read the fine print and innuendo on the website ("hotel" style) I could have discerned I wouldn't be able to cook my meals in this Junior Suite, but I think the expectation of the customer is you can cook your meals at least on a BBQ, and management should make it obvious you can't. A lot of good steaks got wasted!

Great location

Pool over crowded, no towels, I asked for towels the staff didn’t get them….. another time I asked for towels and the front desk lady gave me about 20 of them and expected me to hand them out like a pool boy.

Every thing was ready and complete, We enjoyed using the kitchenette.

Only 2 issues the first night the smoke detector woke us up with loud chirping, we think battery needed replacing. Hot tub jets not working.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Our only complaint was the portable air conditioner was very, very noisy and didn't cool the room as well as it should

Great experience, great views clean and well equipped town home

Very accommodating. When I booked online I did not realize that you could be in a 2 bdrm / 1 bathroom and not 2bdrm / 2 bathrooms. I went to the front desk and requested that we be moved if possible. We were able to move and it was a much nicer place with an ocean view.

The space and the decor, everything we needed to make our stay comfortable was available.

We ran out of hot water by the time the kids showed, so I and my partner took very cold showers 🚿 that was not pleasant at all.

the location was great! nice villa. the bad was unit was is disrepair snd filthy cleaning. Stove broken, soaker tub broken, tv remotes and not setup. check in with no dish tabs or laundry soap for at least 1 wash. On top of that skylight maintenance which made a mess and a bad tar smell . Wasn’t as tranquil as expected for over $2500! Really suggest another option as management didnt want to address or acknowledge my issues.

We stayed @ Sunrise Ridge Resort for 5 weeks. We loved our stay! Our 1 bedroom condo unit in the 200 building was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. The common areas of the resort are well maintained. The resort is walking distance from Rathtrevor Provincial Park. For sure, though, the best part of our stay was the people. From the front desk to cleaning crew to maintenance staff, everyone was pleasant, courteous and good at what they do. We'd especially like to give a shout out to Allen and Mark @ the front desk who are problem solvers extraordinaire! And, the maintenance guy, whose name I didn't get, took care of all of our tech and minor maintenance issues. Thanks for a great winter!

Suite was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. Deck and view were beautiful.

Hallways were filthy and were not cleaned even once in our four night stay.

Very comfy beds and beautiful room

We only stayed two nights but the location was close to everything that we wanted to do and see. The outdoor pool and hot tub were great after a day of site seeing. The room was comfortable and large enough for the duration of our stay.

We would stay there again so there was nothing to keep us from returning.

Suite was lovely and it had easy access to Parksvilles amenities. Also has a nice outdoor pool.

Outdoor fireplace was wood, not gas, so no fires there in the summer, during ban season. Our in-room fireplace was remote controlled and broken so I was a bit sad I ended up with no fires all week.

Excellent property. The beds were really comfortable. My only negative thing to say (and it’s extremely minor and not a big deal) was that they didn’t have any decaffeinated coffee. Staff was great. We really enjoyed our stay!!

Dusty place, missing knobs off the stove. No dish clothes, no dish soap. Wasn’t impressed.

Staff was friendly, though didn’t see many. No phone to contact front desk, and no housekeeping came in. Upon arrival, we found that one coffee pod was punctured open, leftover used coffee and washing machine detergent were left in machines from previous visitors. No pillows for sofa bed … had to use a folded up towel since we didn’t want to walk to the reception building to get a pilllow. Overall cleanliness was good, and suite was nice. Well stocked with necessities. Fitness room literally felt like a sauna … we actually thought there was one in there, so use of exercise equipment was impossible.

Quiet, peaceful setting

Loved walking down to the beach every morning and swimming in the ocean every night we stayed.

Room was nice, bed comfortable, no real complaints other than the construction going on outside our room. Early in the morning it was loud. They should have offered to put us on other side away from the construction.

I have mobility issues and the elevator was out of service, no one offered to help with luggage up 3 flights of stairs.

Liked the Main lobby, the grounds. Pool looked nice but we did not use. Bedroom was very warm and stuffy at night. Bed was 6/10. Portable AC in living room cooled off that room and also leaked on the floor. Kitchen well equipped.

Temperature control. Bed and pillows mediocre.

Noisy mostly unsupervised kids in pool. Room in main building close too close to pool. Made for non-stop noise. No restaurant on property. Advertised as waterfront but not waterfront so is misleading. Access to water down a gravel switchback pathway to rocky beach. At high tide beach disappears so walk through water to get to steps to access pathway.

Decided to stay for my birthday trip and had an amazing time. The woom was bigger and better than i was expecting. Being as it was May long weekend, the weather was wet so it was a great added bonus of having laundry in the suite to dry my jacket!!

The property was beautifully landscaped. Nice path to ocean . It was nice to have a kitchen and washer and dryer in suite . Location was very nice, with beach and pool access ,pool area bathrooms could have been cleaner . Rooms and General area were clean and worth the value . Staff at front desk were efficient but not overly bubby .

The pool is nice but very busy.

We had an odd room where we had to share an entry with another room. Both rooms had doors with an inch gap underneath meaning we heard everything that the other family was saying. Then the first evening there was a domestic violence happening in the room that shares our entrance. I ended up having to run and get management. Of course the male said nothing happened. We still had to share the entry and I felt extremely uncomfortable with the possibility that I might encounter this man. Also the building itself is not sound proofed so you hear the people walking above as well. Also it said it had beach access but at high and mid tide there is no access and it is very rocky. Our room was extremely small as well. I do not feel I should have paid as much as we did. Will never go back there.

Nice and close to Parksville. There is no food here, you need to find something off property. The pad to access the parking area is hard to find in the dark and there was nothing lit around it. Very beautiful property, and excellent for star viewing near the beach.

The location is on the beach. There is not much that is within walking distance for restaurants and shops. It is a short drive to the downtown and to Qualicum Beach and to the market in Coombs. The resort is new so it is clean. The gym doesn’t open until 7:00. Coffee was sometimes ready at 6:00 but it depends on the staff. The washer an dryer in our suite was very convenient. It’s good for families with kids.

Really small rooms, noisy residents who live there long term with no consideration for guests, walls / doors are not sound proof, internet was terrible, tv wouldn’t load YouTube or Netflix, cable didn’t work on the tv either, pretty sure I got ringworm from going in the hot tub once.

Family of 4 had an amazing trip kitchen was all you need and the pool was a massive hit for the kids. Walk to the beach was super easy and at low tide endless fun at the beachnin the tide pools. We will be back

The resort has a beach, but it is rocky not sandy. You have to go about 1km to find the sandy beach but it is not hard to get to or find free parking there. Each unit shares a terrace with another unit so having a bbq outside is not always private.

Good location, comfortable, but rather small room yet spacious bathroom.

This property was beautiful. Exceeded our expectations.

Finding the room was confusing and challenging. It was not explained that there were 2 separate units behind a single door. Nor was there indication of this. Front desk was not adequately staffed, meaning multiple trips were necessary to get service.

Cons: Check in was over an hour and a half late due to staffing shortages. No restaurant on site. Oven was missing some knobs. Pros: beds were comfortable, pool/hot tub were clean, beach close by, staff were friendly, bbq and patio were a nice touch.

I rarely leave reviews, but I feel compelled to in this case. Pros: nice spacious room, decent beach access. Cons: rude staff, very limited parking for anything other than 1 car, extremely noisy. If you aren't towing anything (even a small boat), you don't value customer service, and you don't mind constant noise and privacy intrusion from other guests/children, you might enjoy it. My wife and I did not.

I have been coming to this Resort every week for months for work. I always have the best communication with Mark the agent at the resort. Very professional and. Wry helpful. I cannot say enough, everything on point. I will be back next week. Thank you Mark and thank you Sunrise Resort.

Front desk staff… poor… the guy couldn’t care less about us. It was if we were bothering him! I also overheard him talking down rude to other staff.. our room was stuffy and very small.

Perfect accommodation for a young family. The townhouse was beautiful and including all of the amenities for us the have a wonderful, stress free vacation. Grounds and pool was fantastic and positive atmosphere throughout the resort.

Nice location. Room was small, very hot and stuffy and next unit was loud and slamming doors until after midnight. Calling front desk did not help

It was close to get to any attraction, convenient parking. The only downside was the bed was to soft to our liking.

When we arrived, there was a lack of clear guidance, no instructions on how to sort the garbage or any related bins or bags provided. The worst part was the unexpected power outage that ruined our evening celebration and didn’t get restored until midnight. We were also woken up at 5am by the bright sunlight streaming through the sheer curtains. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.

I believe this resort is rated at a 3 star. I would suggest it was a 4 star. I really liked the place. We travelled as a couple and had a second floor studio unit overlooking the pool and hot tub. We asked for this unit and got exactly what we wanted. The deck was huge and it had a table and a couple of chairs. Nice spot to relax and have a drink. The pool was warm and the hot tub was a nice spot to chat to other travellers. There was a library/reading room off the lobby where you could grab a coffee and read a newspaper. In that we travelled in May I would suggest a bit of an off time for families and suspect because a large portion of the units appeared to be townhouse type units it would cater to families in the summer months.

One of the best properties I have ever stayed at and the best price. All appliances were new and top of the line. Highly recommend

Nice big space, decent kitchenette with sink and dishes, floor to ceiling blackout curtains for nice dark room to sleep in, interesting room configuration creating a quieter room - no noise from the hallway. Easy walking distance to ocean and nearby restaurant.

Went with family and friends and it was amazing

We had a wonderful stay at Sunrise Ridge Resort! We stayed in 421A on the second floor and we had a very spacious updated room with air conditioning, full kitchen and living room. We enjoyed relaxing fires, walks along the ocean front beach and trails at Rathtrevor Provincial Park. Parksville was such a great hub to explore the island. So many great highlights but Horne Lake Caves was a great day trip...a must try! Special thanks to Mark and Adrian for your assistance and great customer service! We will be back!

Nice property, very friendly staff, pet friendly.

There was no shower soap (one tiny bar left for hand washing at bathroom sink) Food left in fridge from other guests (take-out leftovers) Bathroom door didn't close. Large room windows faced the elevator area , therefore no privacy whatsoever and had to leave the blinds shut, felt very shut in. Would not stay in this room again.

Site is quite well maintained, well laid out, easy parking and access to accommodation. The room was well appointed, comfortable bed, nice kitchenette.

The access to the beach was not possible; the access trail leading to the beach ended at a drop-off. The room had only one chair, a small bistro table and a couple of small chairs would be better.

Noticed a water leak showing up on the kitchen floor. Reported it to the front desk, but they did not seem too concerned.

Convenient location, friendly staff, easy and free parking. Kitchen, washer and dryer in the unit; beautiful view, close to the beach. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back again next time.
