Aqualuz Lagos by The Editory

All the decking around the pool and outdoor restaurants was damaged , people were tripping over it. Around the pool was dirty and the copings fell off into the pool and was never fixed .

We liked the pools and the apartment was adequate for four adults . Air conditioning was very good . Apartment was cleaned every day . No shortage of towels

No clothes airer on balcony for drying clothes .

Large pool area, spacious room

The pool area was not cleaned sufficiently, rubbish, food left around. People left dirty towels on loungers and left therefore impression no loungers left. Electric door system went down there amazing reception staff had to escort us to our room every time.

Locatie in Lagos.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but after paying nearly $600/night and flying from Canada with my family, I feel others should know what to expect. The biggest issue started at check-in. We were told the hotel had a system outage and could not provide room keys. We were promised it would be fixed within 12 hours. Four nights later, it was never resolved. Every time we needed access to our room, we had to find a staff member to escort us. As occupancy increased, waits became longer. There was no communication, no updates, and no apology. I contacted the hotel through Expedia Messenger on August 15 and by email. I was promised a response but never received one. Aside from the location, this is not a 4-star experience. Breakfast pastries were not fresh, coffee came from machines and tasted poor, and there was no fresh brewed coffee. The pool area was dirty, with bird droppings on sunbeds and tables every morning. We often had to clean them ourselves. The pool also had debris and Band-Aids floating in it. We booked a Premium Suite with Pool View. The master bedroom was beside the corridor, making it extremely noisy at night and early morning. The room lacked basic amenities such as tissue boxes and hooks for jackets. On one occasion, three towels delivered to our room were dirty. Staff training was inconsistent. A bartender named Diago was particularly rude and unhelpful. When I asked for a wine opener, he lectured me about bringing wine purchased outside the hotel. Later, when I ordered pizza for my children, he informed me that only cash was accepted and offered no assistance, leaving us without the meal. Overall, poor cleanliness, poor communication, poor service, and no follow-up to complaints. Definitely not worth the price and not deserving of its 4-star rating.

Do pequeno almoço

The location is good as a short walk into the town. Rooms are very basic and clean. Beds are uncomfortable. The pool area is ok but is not very well looked after and needs some maintenance. The beds under the trees have bird poo and ants over them. Some staff are friendly and helpful but some just stand around doing nothing. There is just one restaurant by the pool which serves all the meals. The tables are sticky and there isn’t enough for breakfast. The restaurant inside is not used. The room only gets cleaned about 5pm. Our key card didn’t work for 3 days on arrival had to be escorted to room every time. Overall ok but feels like more could have been done to make the hotel much better. Feels like was once nice but now the staff are not bothered.

We are currently guests at this hotel and, if moving elsewhere were a practical option at this stage of our holiday, we would do so. There is plenty we could add about the poor condition, lack of maintenance and generally tired state of the property. However, numerous other reviews have already described these shortcomings in considerable detail, and unfortunately our experience largely reflects what those reviewers have reported. Instead, I will concentrate on the breakfast experience, which perhaps sums up the hotel best. This is simply not the breakfast we would expect from a four-star hotel. The buffet is crammed into an area that is plainly inadequate for the number of guests, resulting in something closer to a food stampede in a secondary-school canteen than a relaxing hotel breakfast. Numerous buffet trays were empty, while much of the food that remained looked distinctly unappealing. Items intended to be served hot were merely lukewarm, the pastries lacked freshness, and the overall presentation did little to encourage you to eat. The dining room was equally poorly managed. Tables remained dirty and uncleared, there appeared to be no meaningful waiter service, and finding a clean, properly prepared table was unnecessarily difficult. There seemed to be nobody maintaining order, clearing tables promptly or ensuring that the buffet was properly replenished. August is inevitably a busy period, but high occupancy does not excuse insufficient staffing, poor organisation or food being presented and maintained to this standard. A hotel breakfast should be an enjoyable and civilised start to the day. Here it felt overcrowded, chaotic and neglected. Whatever the hotel’s official star rating, the breakfast experience is emphatically not that of a four-star hotel.

La qualité des services et du personnel

Rien

This a rated 4 star but isn’t. We booked a premium 1 bed suite which is clean but basic. No glasses, tea or coffee, iron or ironing board. There’s combined hair and shower gel which is always too harsh for hair. The plinth under the wardrobe has fallen off. The pool area is not in a good state, with broken wooden paths and generally tatty. Breakfast was a free for all with no table settings, a kin to a scrum. Didn’t bother trying the food as it looked so unappetising and it wasn’t worth the effort. The other thing to note is that the pool music was over 80 decibels from our 4th floor balcony which was in bearable. We complained twice before the sound was turned down (a bit). If you’re looking for a disco vibe in a basic hotel & not interested in breakfast, this is the place for you. If not, steer clear!

Bella e rinnovata

Pool, hotel room size and location were excellent

The breakfast selection was poor and very crowded

We are currently staying at this hotel, and unfortunately, our experience has been very disappointing. For two days, we had no room key and had to wait every time for someone to accompany us to our room. We asked several times about an iron, but there was never one available. Every member of staff gave us a different answer. The breakfast is also very disappointing. The restaurant is extremely crowded, with everyone struggling to find a place. By 10:00 a.m., there is hardly anything left on the buffet, even though breakfast is supposed to be available until 10:30 a.m. When I mentioned this to the manager, I was simply told that I should come for breakfast at 9:30 a.m. There was no apology or understanding. Basically, you are on holiday, but the hotel decides when you should have breakfast! The parking situation is also very difficult, with not enough spaces available, making it extremely hard to park. The bathroom is full of mould, which is completely unacceptable. Unfortunately, the manager did not seem interested in finding a solution and appeared completely insensitive to our complaints. The staff also do not seem properly trained to welcome guests or provide clear and helpful information. Personally, I would not recommend this hotel at all. Considering the price we paid, we expected a much higher standard of service and facilities. Very disappointing and certainly not the experience we expected from a hotel at this price.

Booked premium room with pool view. There was no view asked to change room could not for two nights. New room much better, unfortunately there had been a power cut and the new key card couldn't be programmed so staff had to escorted us to our room every time, which was really frustrating sometimes had to wait for staff to be available to open our room door. No soap in public toilets did reported a few times still nothing done. Decking around the hotel needs attention very loose under foot.. litter left around the pool area and bins very full. Some staff at pool bar not friendly. Breakfast staff no team leader to guide staff on how to do their jobs. Customer service not great..

Wish I can leave 0 star review , warning to all, stay away , don't bother , this hotel just cares about the $$$$$$ Money hungry resort , no flexibility , they have no empathy or compassion for their guests ...... staff are definitely not trained , bunch of punks working the bar.... I asked management to contact me several times , not one phone call nor attempt to reach out to me. Rather stay in a motel than this garbage dump, good luck to all

This is a decent hotel in a good location - equidistant from the old town and decent beaches (about 10 minutes' walk to each). The staff were universally friendly, welcoming and helpful. There is a decent-sized swimming pool plus a smaller pool for younger kids. The room was spacious and always well maintained and cleaned.

The beds are pretty uncomfortable. The decking around the pool area is in need of maintenance and upgrading - there are various loose planks of wood that present a hazard - at one point we found a screw sticking up that could easily have caused an injury when everyone is walking around barefoot around the pool. The breakfast was ok, but after a few days it became samey so a bit more variety would have been appreciated. Given this is not a cheap hotel, we would expect these issues to be addressed.

the pool was nice for the kids, especially the kids club. The girls working there were so kind and really great with the kids.

The room was terrible. It smelled bad like chemicals and was dark and not musty.

The pool and event was very nice

the food and breakfast was not good

nothing

This is not a four star hotel. It's dirty, we saw blood, on the floor near the pool, dry up and stay there for entire length of the stay. The furnishings are plastic. It's over populated. The breakfast is a joke and a total bun fight "are you using that chair". The staff are robotic. How you can be advertising this for nearly £600/night beggars belief when I compare it to the other properties you have on the site. I think you need to renegotiate with the hotel and offer this to your customers for closer to half the price, even then I'd struggle to see the value.

Probably one of the worse experiences I’ve had abroad. Firstly I was scammed- I got what’s app messages from what looked like the hotel asking for payment. The hotel later sent emails to avoid response (which luckily I did) but has yet to advise how my details had been leaked. The hotel is run down. Currently opposite is a construction site. The actual hotel reminds me of a prison would be … rooms v hard to get to all around the 2 pools- which unless you get up at 8am you have no chance getting a sunbed at. The breakfast was the worst but. Food was horrible, no where to sit, people taking your chairs if you got up. I ate here once then went out. I spent only the time sleeping in this hotel- it was also very over priced. Never again.

God beliggenhet, basseng

Litt dårlig frokost, harde senger

Nvt

Ładny i duży basen.

Good size room and nice pools.

Power went out first night but was fixed promptly. Other than that nothing, nice place.

ottima posizione, bellissima struttura, servizio palestra e piscina top

Tamanho do quarto. Limpeza ok.

Lokalizacja

Stary budynek, wymaga generalnego remontu i solidnego czyszczenia. Kiepskie śniadania. Osobiście nie polecam i nie wróce. Hotel to zdecydowanie 3 gwiazdki, nie 4. Nie podobało mi sie w nim nic oprócz ewentualnie lokalizacji.

Ubicación

La limpieza bastante mejorable.

Locatie Schone kamers Zwembad

The staff- front desk, restaurant, bartenders and housekeeping - were very friendly and welcoming. The pools were amazing and it's a great location..

Mattresses were uncomfortable

We went a family with 2 tweens for a week. The room had a good size, balcony and was bright and clean. The breakfast had enough variety to satisfy us all, and can be taken outside on a nice patio. There is a short walk to different beaches that have snacbars - dont plan on renting sunbeds on the Beach because there are none. Its an equal short walk to the city centrum. There are also groceryshops near by. For our family the poolarea was the main attraction. Plenty of sunbeds and two large pools that vary in depth up to 2,8 m. There is a poolbar with food and the hotel provides large pooltowels. We could spend the whole day there. The staff is helpfull and friendly :)

Excellent location - close enough to the old town. Lots of great restaurants and bars within a 10-15 minute walk. Great pool. Plenty of sun loungers for the number of guests. We didn’t have a problem getting a spot any day. Rooms were really nice. We had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. Great value for money.

Breakfast was a little hectic at the breakfast buffet each morning. There was a €10 deposit required for an iron for the room, however, there were no ironing boards available to use. The bar provided drinks for the pool, however, glass is not allowed poolside and there weren’t enough plastic cocktail glasses at the bar so we had to use small cups for our cocktails.

Super nice room and the pool area was very good

Location. The rooms were clean and large. Staff was nice

The breakfast was really very basic. Would have been nice to have more veggies, nuts, etc.

Localização e relação qualidade preço

Limpeza dos apartamentos podia ser melhor

I wouldn’t stay here if you don’t have kids. There are so many kids at this hotel and they take up the entire pool. The breakfast isn’t good and was quite messy. Also, the cleaning services for the room came at 5 pm when we were already back. Also, you have to shlep up 2 different elevators to get to our room and they didn’t tell us this before check in so we had to shlep all of our suitcases up. The blow dryer in the room was also broken. Overall the room was clean but wouldn’t stay here again.

Great room and hotel restaurant was really dead we didn't get our olives with our bread

Not a lot

Some of the people working at the reception were very rude

Everything!

Avoid Aqualuz Lagos – in our experience, it felt like a rundown and expensive bed and breakfast rather than a four-star hotel. We paid a total of £2,172.40 for eight nights for what we understood to be a superior suite with a kitchen. However, when we arrived, the reality was a small bedroom with no kitchen, and our son had to sleep on a sofa bed in the living area. We immediately went to reception to complain about the size of the accommodation and explained that we had expected a kitchen, based on the photographs shown online. We were told that the pictures online were not necessarily of the room we had booked. In our opinion, the online images were very misleading, as the room we received looked nothing like what we believed we had paid for. We were then told that we would have to pay an additional £1,016.50 to move to accommodation with a kitchen. Of course, we refused. I am a chef, and part of my plan for the holiday was to buy fresh fish, meat and salads and prepare meals for my family. Because the room did not have the facilities we expected, this completely disrupted our plans and negatively affected our holiday. After we refused the additional charge, we received repeated calls and messages asking us to pay more money. Imagine trying to enjoy a day out in the city and receiving calls from the hotel requesting further payment. After a few days, the additional amount was reduced from £1,016.50 down to £200, but by that stage we had lost trust in the situation and declined the offer. We also found some of the reception staff rude and unhelpful. We did not feel that the charges or room arrangements were properly explained to us. The breakfast was extremely disappointing. The scrambled eggs were so dry that they resembled a carpet, the bacon was unpleasant, the coffee was very weak, and overall the breakfast was not satisfying. We also discovered ants in our room. Despite complaining several times, the issue was not properly resolved. There were two televisions, one in the bedroom and one in the living area, but neither was a smart TV, so we could only watch Portuguese television. There was a kettle in the room, but no tea bags or coffee were provided. The double bed was simply two single beds pushed together. They cleaned the room everyday but they never replaced the bedsheets We could not use the safe in the room it was left there unplugged inside the wardrobe have pics to prove it The steps leading into the swimming pool were very rough and repeatedly scratched our feet. The lift we needed to use between the fourth floor and the ground floor was also out of service three times during the first four days of our stay. My wife and her sisters stayed at Aqualuz many years ago, shortly after my wife had come out of hospital. She remembered it as a welcoming boutique-style hotel where guests were valued and cared for. Unfortunately, that was not the experience we had this time. In our opinion, Aqualuz is no longer the hotel it once was. For the amount we paid, the accommodation, facilities, food and customer service were unacceptable. We would not return and would not recommend it.

The hotel was wonderful, with lots of facilities included. We enjoyed many days by the pool with the chairs and umbrellas as well as walking to the beach close by. We loved the buffet style breakfast in the morning and the option to have lunch and dinner at the hotel. My partner and I went to the gym a few times, it was wonderful and the staff gave us a tour and were super friendly. Staff at the hotel gave lots of suggestions for places, and supported us with options in transport to and from airport. It was a wonderful holiday and the perfect location, just a short walk to the town. It was nice because everyone was also walking the same direction, never felt alone. Wonderful hotel! The room was such a good size, quite large and lots of space for our suitcases etc.

The beds were very hard and I could feel the springs. The springs were digging into my ribs and back making it very uncomfortable. I used thick blankets from the cupboard to put under my fitted sheet, which helped to make it more comfortable. Otherwise everything was perfect!!

The waitress (a dark‑haired woman with dreadlocks) spilled a drink on my back in the restaurant. I agreed with her that I would receive a free beer as compensation. However, when we got the bill, no compensation had been applied. I pointed this out, and the waitress brought a new bill with a little over one euro deducted for having a drink spilled on me. Absolutely outrageous and unacceptable compensation for what happened. I was extremely angry about the service I received. On top of that, the food we were served was low quality and the portions were small. The beds in the hotel room are very uncomfortable to sleep in. They are extremely hard, and because of that my back was stiff the entire time. The swimming pool was filthy. The cleaning of the pool had clearly been neglected. Breakfast was only average — nothing special or good enough to be considered high quality. I do not recommend this hotel for the reasons mentioned above.

Het zwembad, de gym en vriendelijk personeel

Kwaliteit van het eten

Funcionários simpáticos

Estaba muy bien todo

We selected a 2 bedroom apartment for our family of 5. We chose the Premium city view, assuming the balcony would overlook the city, and allow us to sit out together to eat or play cards in the evening. However, the balcony was tiny, with no chairs or table, and the “premium city view” was of a building site, the gym entrance and a car park. Completely unusable. Very disappointing.

The pool and adjacent gym

Poor breakfast, average food.

Great pools. Nice reception staff. 10/10 Breakfast is more than adequate. In summary, you’ll love it if you are not in the dungeon room!

We were put into a dungeon room that smelt and the doors wouldn’t lock. We complained and got moved, so it was only temporary. But it wasn’t a great start. In fairness, we did get moved and our stay improved, and the staff were helpful and nice. The lunch was almost inedible. We ordered a Niçoise salad (if you could call it that?). It was canned tuna on a bed of lettuce and tomatoes. Not appetising or enjoyable. Hotel restaurant experience overall closer to 5/10. Not a highlight. But don’t read this too harshly as overall the stay was great for the price we paid.

Very convenient, near the beach, near the old town, not too isolated but felt luxuriously exclusive. Buffet was plentiful, gym was externally managed but well-integrated with the resort. Staff were way friendlier than other places we've stayed at in Portugal, so a big plus.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay, but there are a few areas that could be improved. We noticed that the TV remote was missing its battery cover, and the balcony door could not be properly locked. The toilet seat would not stay in the upright position and kept falling down. There was also an unpleasant sewage smell in the bathroom, and the ventilation system was quite noisy. The bed was very firm and felt like two single mattresses pushed together rather than one double bed, which made them constantly separate during the night. The sofa bed for the children pulls out into two separate sleeping areas. However, one side is quite narrow, making it less comfortable for one of the children. We stayed for four nights. Housekeeping came quite late in the day, so our room was fully cleaned only once. On the other days, we simply asked for fresh towels, the trash to be emptied, and more toilet paper, which was sufficient for us. Some of the room lights were not working when we arrived, but the staff replaced them quickly. The kettle also tripped the electricity, and it was promptly replaced with a new one. We appreciated the staff's quick response whenever we reported an issue. The room was clean, but the furniture and facilities felt rather outdated. The kitchenette was well equipped with dishes, and we appreciated that dishwashing liquid and a sponge were provided. The breakfast was good with a nice selection, although we would have appreciated a greater variety of fresh vegetables, as only cucumbers were available. The biggest highlight of our stay was the swimming pool, which was excellent and a real advantage of the hotel. The only thing that could be improved is replacing the pool grates, as they are clearly showing their age. Overall, I would rate the hotel 8/10, mainly because of the excellent pool and the helpful staff. The room itself, however, would receive 7/10 due to the issues mentioned above.

Breakfast lovely. Quite a few vegan options for me and dining room staff very helpful.

More catering facilities in the apartment but didn't have kettle and fridge. I should've checked if fully self catering but with breakfast, kettle and a fridge managed ok.

The rooms, pool and facilities are really amazing

The location was a little further away from everything than what I would have liked and the breakfast was minimal and not consistent.

The pool was nice to have but that's about it.

Beds uncomfortable, pool has a weird constant loud humming, if you stay in certain bedrooms you can hear it 24-7. It's not a four star don't be fooled. 3 star at best. Overpriced. The pool party was tragic. Foam machine didn't work. Decking all needs replacing and wasn't that clean in the rooms. Standard rooms and suites don't even come with a tea bag!! Just a kettle. Staff weren't overly friendly. Breakfast was awful. Not replenished enough and chaos It's a very basic hotel pretending to be something it isn't.

Clean, good location. Nice apartment

Pool has a drop from 4foot to 9foot with only a black one on floor of pool as warning as we don’t walk looking down at our feet very easy to miss. My sister was walking holding her one year old and my 4 year old and didn’t notice line and walked right into it and only baby had live vest on and someone beside her grabbed her before her head went under water it would have been much worse. There should be some kind of rail or better warnings for people who can’t swim. And no lifeguard at pool to keep eye

Een goede locatie. Snel in het centrum. Gevarieerd ontbijt. Goede bedden.

Rooms were very clean. Loads of space. Great selection for breakfast, would recommend getting breakfast included if staying there. Large pool area.

Very little shade by the pool area. Some bar staff were very rude to other staff which was a regular occurrence. One male manager at reception was very unhelpful and rude, the rest were very helpful. Dangerous drop in pool with no rope across , nearly a 45degree drop .

Dość daleko pieszo do słynnej plaży
