Our room wasn’t huge but it was fine. Other rooms are larger. The buildings are modern and a bit soulless, but they have another hotel 200 yards away which is the full Victorian architectural experience.

I had booked an afternoon tea then unfortunately had to cancel as had other arrangements. The staff phoned me to ask where I was. I had confirmation of cancellation however the staff member kept banging on about how we hadn’t turned up although both her and I had the same message cancelling it 2 weeks prior and even when checking in still brought it up. I’m not sure what she wanted from me. It was very frustrating. However hotel lovely and rest of staff especially the night shift receptionist so helpful.

I stayed, again, at The Park Hotel for two nights in a single room. It was actually quite large and the bed was bigger than I'd expected. There was a nice bathroom and the room was well appointed. Overall the hotel is very nice, I didn't eat there so can't comment on the food. Plenty of parking and 5-10 minute walk to the town center.

Modern beautiful room, great staff, free parking, lift, aircon, fridge. Our room had a large window overlooking the park, beautiful outlook. Excellent stay.

We recently stayed here as a family of 4 for a long weekend. The hotel location was great to explore surrounding areas, and plenty of restaurants and bars within 5 mins walk from the hotel. The rooms were clean and there was plenty of space in the family room and the bathroom was equally very big with a separate bath tub and shower. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent. We would definitely stay again.

Absolutely love the Park Hotel. It's Central to where we like to visit in Devon. Staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. Rooms are beautiful and clean. Food is excellent, both breakfast and dinner. Would highly recommend you stay.

Excellent hotel. Stayed 4 nights. Everything about it was first-class, from the building and fittings to the food and the staff (especially the youngsters) and I cannot recommend it too highly. What a treat!

We ended up staying here at short notice after a problem with our AirBnB. It was super easy to book and the staff were so lovely at check in. The room was very clean and very quiet, even though it was near the lift. We had dinner and breakfast there - both of which had very cheery and helpful staff. Overall it was an extremely pleasant experience. Thanks very much!

Brend hotel now owns this property and three others in the area(as the receptionist informed us when we lightly complained about the lack of previously enjoyed amenities) and they have been making cutbacks to generate more profit for the directors. The little bits aren't there anymore, that made this place a joy to visit. Oh and if you want to eat at the hotel, the food will be lovely, but the staff seem incapable of smiling or making eye contact, and you will be looking out over a carpark, since they closed the main restaurant.

We stayed as a family for a 90th birthday. The hotel was a great standard, really comfortable and the staff were all really welcoming, warm, friendly and helpful. It made the overall stay special for us. Also very conveniently located for walking into town and easy parking.

This is a great hotel with great room very comfortable and roomy with a small balcony overlooking the park. The staff are friendly and helpful and the restaurant and bar had great options would definitely stay there again.

Location. Modern external appearance and internal fittings. Nice big room overlooking the park. Friendly staff. A great range of juices at the breakfast buffet including pineapple and also tomato. Good parking for my motorcycle at the rear of the hotel.

I Had to make my own toast at breakfast using a machine rather than have it delivered with my full English breakfast. The bread was quite cheap as well. On the second day the eggs for my poached eggs on toast were slightly undercooked. Neither of the supplied pillow styles really suited me.

The superior room I had was getting little jaded. The carpet was stained in several paces. Numerous tiles on the bathroom floor were cracked and there were several patches of black mould around the inside of the shower cubical and on the spiral shower hose. It was certainly not 4 stars quality. The service was first class and the staff were excellent. Not impressed by the change of dining room for dinner service.

We like the place, rooms are modern and clean. Service is very good, staff are pleasant. Bed mattresses could have been of better quality. Also, would have liked to see more vegeterian selection in the menu and a selection of cheeses and yoghurts for breakfast.

Hotel was very modern and clean. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location is very convenient and close to the local attractions such as Hartland Abbey,Hartland Quay and Arlington Court. We really enjoyed walking along the river after delicious breakfast watching the birds. Food was delicious and not expensive as well.Rooms were really comfortable and not disturbed by passing vehicles.We are really looking forward stay in this hotel again.

Clean, modern and in the best location in Barnstaple, next to the park, river and an easy walk into the town. Bedrooms are comfortable and have all the amenities you would expect. Breakfast was excellent, continental and freshly cooked menu. The night manager was particularly attentive and welcoming when we returned in the middle of the night.

Stayed at the Park before for Business standard is really good plus you get access to the gym and pool at their sister hotel a short distance away which they should communicate batter.

We decided to stay here for two nights as it is central to most things and in a quite area. We had a room in the garden court which was lovely. We had a air con machine in there which was nice as it was hot outside. There was space to hang your clothes and a safe which did not work. We did report it but nothing was done while we were there. The bathroom was small and had a shower and a toilet and sink. There was toiletries to use and it was clean. Hair dryer, tea and coffee and a kettle. There was also a small sofa bed. The curtains were thick to block out the light. Bedding was nice. There was a fridge but nothing in it. We also could park right outside the room and a short walk to the hotel. We had room and breakfast and we got 10% off anything in the dinning room, which we found really useful. The hotel was lovely and clean and the staff were nice and friendly. The food was nice and there was plenty of it. You could sit outside on the table and chairs with a nice drink. The whole thing was really nice and I would go again if I could get the same room. I will be back.

An excellent establishment all round from the friendliness of the staff to the quality of the accommodation right down to the basics like the quality of the toilet paper!

I would have given the Park Hotel 5 stars but for a problem with the wet room in my accommodation. The general manager, Katie, and reception staff dealt with the matter in a professional and acceptable manner and I received compensation for the inconvenience. I would recommend this hotel.

Two night stay at The Park Hotel, our favourite Barnstaple Brend Hotel. Stayed in the Garden Annex this time, room rates are a bit lower but room was very good and we didn't miss any views out on Rock Park as we were seldom in the room. One good extra touch is the availability of discounts for visits to local attractions, if you want to do a one off visit to RHS Rosemoor (stunning in early July) then there is a good saving available. We did not eat in in the evenings as wanted to try local restaurants instead, breakfast was fine.

La 1ère chambre qui nous a été attribuée n'avait pas l'air conditionné. Nous avons pu en changer. Nous étions très contents. L'hôtel propose un partenariat avec un autre hôtel qui a 2 piscines chauffées. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié.

Hotel and staff were excellent no worries on that score just one small problem the safe was out of service we informed reception and they said they would deal with it. valuables in the boot of the car. Nobody from staff mentioned it again informing us what was happening would have been nice. I had my own business for 25 Years dealing with the public and i found that keeping clients informed was key to a happy client

The staff were not truthful. I asked for a fan because it was extremely hot. She lied saying she would arrange it and never did. She said she would get me another room, that didn’t come to fruition either.

The two rooms I booked were comfortable, very clean and quiet. The single room also had air conditioning which was needed in the very hot weather. The staff were great and the bar and restaurant area well designed and inviting.

The small double in the Garden Suite was in the eves and didn’t have air conditioning which made it incomfortable in the very hot weather. A fan was provided which was helpful.

Hotel is perfectly fine for a room only stay. We were disappointed with the breakfast offering. Poor quality ingredients in our opinion., cheap bread, juices, egg yokes were pale (and overcooked), bacon was verging on tasteless - having tried the eggs Benedict and so we opted for cereal and toasts during our 3 night stay. This really let your hotel down. Why not get some nice sourdough or French sticks and have these on the side for guests. Spotlight local suppliers for the cooked breakfast offering. Come to a Norfolk and see how it’s done here.

The park rooms in the annex have no A/C. So was very hot in the heatwave. Also the hotel would not honour local discounts as we booked through a third party.

air con a bit tricky to use

This hotel is stunning. The staff are friendly & efficient & our room was beautiful. So clean, spacious & comfortable. I want to find an excuse to come back. It was close to the town but far enough to be quiet.

We stayed at this hotel a few years ago and it was wonderful so the reason for our return. Not quite so good this time. No restaurant for the evening, only eat in a cafe with a menu not very sophisticated in fact basic, this is the reason why we ate out in the evening. We did order a table for one evening, this got forgotten. The cook for breakfast did not quite understand how to cook poached eggs, they came out like bullets when they should be runny. Any reasonable cook knows this. I did order scrambled eggs one morning, they arrived soaking in water and when eating there were hard bits in it, so that was left uneaten. It appears there is no Management. Nobody had a badge on to say who they were or what area they worked in. One staff member was walking around the morning restaurant with long flowing hair which is not correct where there is food. There is a miserable attitude as nobody could smile or great you with a welcome. The good thing I will say is the cleaners for our room were wonderful, happy and they did a very good job. After leaving this establishment we stayed at a Holiday Inn, what a difference, a place we will return to. Please put on a Happy Face!!

Room was very warm. Fan in wardrobe helped a little bit. Staff were all very friendly. Hotel was clean and tidy. Great location for what I needed. Breakfast was superb.

Staff went out of their way to assist me, as I have a mobility handicap, opening doors, etc. Their help was much appreciated after a tiring journey. Everyone was friendly, polite and hospitable as a friend might be. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was big and clean.

My stay was too short. Wish I could've stayed a bit longer.

The Park has become our choice of stay when we are in the area. It appears to have been refurbished last and extended last in 1989. The rooms could probably do with a little more cosmetic updating with some cracks in bathroom tiles and wear on carpets. Our most notable complaint is the overhead waterfall in the shower which is very pitiful. A fairly quiet location (road sweeper fairly early every morning).

Room was a bit hot the first night but then we got the balance right with the fan on and the windows open.

The staff were really helpful and professional, they went out of their way to assist in anyway they could. Room was spotless and it was nice to be able to open the windows instead of using the aircon. Having said that the aircon was very good and quiet which was lovely. There is no pool at the hotel but you can use the pool at their sister hotel down the road. Food at breakfast is hot and cooked to order, whilst dinner menu was not large, it was good, hot and tasty. We hadn't come across that Hotel chain before but would recommend the hotel to our friends and relatives if they are heading to north Devon

At this time of year (out of school time)the hotel had a lot of elderly visitors which may not suit some young people. It didn't bother us at all. Albeit not the fault of the hotel in anyway but the doors to the room are heavy and some of the clientelle let the doors bang closed which, if youre not an early riser can be annoying. A little disappointing that the bar closed earlier than normal (especially as the World Cup matches were on )

The bedroom was cold and there was no way to turn on the radiator. The bathroom however had the worlds hottest towel rail, positioned very close to the shower door. There is a sign saying "hot towel rail" but it really was very hot and I unfortunately ended up with 2 burns from touching this accidentally getting out of the shower. The temperature of this should be turned down for safety.
