Comfortable and decent hotel Good value for money. Staff were pleasant, and breakfast (included) was good and plentiful.

The toilet seat in our room was very loose, and the lid just came off. Also, the towel rail was loose. We did report it to the staff. Otherwise, it' was very comfortable.

My request for a mattress topper was taken care of, so I had a good night sleep .

It was more remote from the town than we expected, and lack of evening food was disappointing, plus we were unable to eat at Toby Carvery due to a delivery issue

The breakfast and bar service was really good.

The AC in my room was not working so was provided with a fan. The bathroom toilet seat was broken. The shower had mould all over it.

It was clean and a nice sized room.

The only thing I do not like I book 3 rooms and there were all different prices.Two of them was the same room I was disappointedq

It is such a convenient location, large car park. Easy to check in/out Breakfast is always to a good standard.

The rooms are looking a bit tired, could do with a refresh. The bathroom looked quite sad, taps in the shower could fall off easily and had no markings on them (no hot/cold)

Room was comfy and clean Breakfast was good, although very busy, so we had to wait for clean plates and products to be re-filled. Staff were great though

The sofa bed broke during are second night and had to sleep in the chair It looked if it had been repaired before Would recommend it being replaced before some one gets hurt

Convenient in location

Shower pipe had visible limescale that was not cleaned out. Blood stain found on bed sheets Rim of the toilet needs to be refreshed. Colour and tile flooring looked horrible and worn out. For one night, the gross sale value of a customer wouldnt match that of someone staying for longer nights, but a guest is still a guest. Just disappointing.

Trip was ruined by a group of travellers who were staying. One came into our room with a key in the middle of the night. I thought Holiday Inn had a strict policy on this? Not a very safe environment.

I asked if we could get clean bathroom towels for our second night but it didn’t happen. It was very late when we got back on the second night so never bothered chasing it up.

It was ok . I didn’t find the receptionist very friendly. Breakfast was a nightmare with kids running around everywhere. Glass broken and the kids knocking on our doors

We have stayed several times and have no issues, staff are great, rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast is normally great.

Holiday Inn needs to be aware, the Hotel was filled with travellers on Saturday 8th August 2026, Every member of staff deserve a huge thank you, a day in Lieu or a substantial bonus for what they had to put up with from the travellers. I cannot begin to tell you, there were kids running riot everywhere, up and down the stairs, playing with the lift, they were on the bar, smashing glasses, squirting the Nutella directly on the counter on purpose, laughing, smashing chocolate cup cakes into the soft furnishings, the adults were rude pigs like a pack of hounds, totally took over, taking 5 sausages at a time, i could just go on and on, absolute scum, the lot of them. As said, the staff were brilliant, they do not deserve to be spoken to as they were, I am surprised if you have any staff left. Absolutely awful. We know better, we have stayed before, if it was our first time, we would not be back.

Well located for the Chelmsford racecourse. I am happy that the location provided free parking. The price for the room was great and the hot breakfast with a good selection was fantastic.

The property is dated and could do with upgrading the bathrooms.

This was just a random stop on the way home from Europe having got off the ferry from Harwich. Plenty of parking and right next to a fuel station which has a good selection of fuel station food at that time of night... It was a large enough room and comfortable.

The staff were fantastic. Friendly and helpful. The breakfast is basic but good. The location was great for where I needed to be. (With a car rental - nothing significant within walking distance) Room was large enough for 2 - didn’t feel cramped at all Hot water great, as was shower pressure AC worked great Parking was free M&S food so well-stocked at the BP garage 1 minute down the road.

Everything! The room was spacious and clean, with tea, coffee and even an iron and ironing board! The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was perfect with the shower being designed so you could actually sit down, without it looking like it was a seat! The best bit was the buffet breakfast which was downstairs, unlike another popular hotel chain, and even had a gluten free corner with a separate toaster and gf bread! The 11am checkout was great too. We were very impressed and will be looking to see if there is Holiday Inn Express available on all our UK trips from now on.

It would have been perfect if the sausages had been gluten free too!

The staff were super friendly and helpful, the air conditioning was fantastic, the room was clean and it probably had the best WiFi of any hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff sorted the one small issue we had immediately and couldnt do enough to help us. Excellent customer service.

The glasses in the bathroom were dirty with a strange white residue at the bottom, and my quite expensive pint was badly poured. The TV was also slanted and a tad small for the room.

It’s a little bit tired, the upholstered chairs in our room were a little dirty and could use replacing. The bedding was also a little old and tired, I was given double bedding on a single bed so it wasn’t the most comfortable.

We had to make our own pull out bed using the sofa. There was no other pillows or bedding available in the cupboard. The bedside lights were not working.

This didn't apply to me as I had booked the room on the 1 night of the week where it's half the normal rate. If I had to pay the normal rate then I would have expected a more scenic location to justify the cost.

Reception was super slow. Aircon in the room did not work. Bed was squeaking, breakfast was ok but the ordered evening food was Awful. Chicken burgers were all burnt and chips were cold

The room had everything you would need. Good space in the bedroom and bathroom.

There was some road noise but that can’t be helped, unless better double glazing is possible.

It’s very close to Stansted airport. The room was big. It has aircondition which was very good as we were in the UK during extreme heat situations.

The breakfast was very below standards. As we were in another Holiday Inn Express before this one, the comparison was very obvious. We couldn’t find anything tasty to eat. In our bathroom the sink was broken and was painted to cover it. Obviously it didn’t help the outcome. The paint was all over us while using the sink and it was very uncomfortable.

It was hot and the AC didn't work and one of the rooms we had did not have a fan and when asked for one, we were told there were none left. Not good.

Second time being here within a month apart and both times been put in a room downstairs with no air conditioning was told they would reset this but nothing worked so we left and checked in elsewhere

The room was very practical for a weekend stay. The shower is accessible and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was fine and great that it was in the cost of the overnight stay.

The shower door bottom was not clean, it had a build up of soap and dust.

Room was very cold and air con/heating couldn’t be changed.

For a 'disabled' room it's a pity it was a bath and not walk-in shower! Service in restaurant poor - waited over an hour for a Lasagne. Not cheap!

It was a perfect location to Standstead Airport & my family. Fab shopping centre not too far away. Great breakfast choice

Staff was welcoming and aware we would be arriving late. They were ready to help us. The room was all prepared, with the sofabed already set as a bed and neatly made. It was clean and nice. The breakfast was good with plenty of options of hot food. Access and parking are convenient. I will be back next year :)

Lovely staff here and they were super friendly! As I was attending a wedding nearby, I couldn't check-in during normal hours, but as they have a 24/7 reception, I was able to check-in at 1am with no problems. Plenty of free parking on site too.

Wide selection for breakfast, from cooked to pastries and cereals. The massive Nutella dispenser is a stand out.

You know what you're getting with a HIEx, this didn't disappoint

The weirdest feature, which seems to occur at almost every HIEx, is that the TV (Samsung) has BBC 1 HD (Channel 101) but it has no sound! So you have to watch BBC1 in lo res, or hope it's showing a silent movie. All other channels are fine. Why does this keep happening? Only ever BBC 1 HD, only ever Samsung TVs, almost always at Holiday Inn Expresses?

Price of drinks. Too much!

The location was good for me attending an event in the town centre. The rooms were clean but basic. reception staff were fine only dealt with them briefly. Free parking is excellent. Very reasonably priced.

An exceptionally hot week and there was no air-conditioning working when you tried to get it to work it was very loud. But then I realised it wasn’t even giving out any cold air.

Really helpful staff who found us another room as the Aircon was not working. Excellent location and parking, reasonable breakfast. Overall very good value for money.
