It has a nice relaxing atmosphere the staff couldn’t be any friendlier.
There wasn’t anything I disliked.
Good location and great to have a dog paddock (although looks like not everyone clears up after their dog!!)
Everything seems to be extra. Be more upfront what the extra cost actually is for a dog rather than let people pay and be charged before stating the cost. Also cost of breakfast is very unclear and different from that advertised
Great location and friendly helpful staff
Nothing
Good location
The bed was horrendously hard poor night sleep
Friendliness and efficiency of the staff Size and cleanliness of the rooms Parking good and hotel grounds well kept
We would like to of had water and glasses in the room, however these are available on request from the bar. Rooms were warm, even although it was no longer hot outside
Facilities for dogs. Excellent exercise area to side of hotel. Doggie goodie bag provided. Food was good.
Room was very hot.
We had a lovely stay. The staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for you. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. We ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was delicious with big potions. We would definitely stay here again.
The only minor issue was that the rooms got very hot. It was the same in the bar area and also in the restaurant in the evening. But it didn't ruin the stay.
Modern inside with good modern facilities
Breakfast room and breakfast exceeded expectations.
nothing
Sockets by bed, large room, plenty of storage, good parking area, quiet location
Had a nice meal in the restaurant but felt the cheese board was overpriced
Good location. Immaculately clean room and all linens. Nice to have a room with a small outside terrace
No air conditioning in the rooms, meaning.. Although the hotel provided a desk fan in the room, as the August weather was very warm, the inside atmosphere in the room was also, making sleeping a challenge.
Lovely setting. Very helpful friendly staff.
Une constante et remarquable recherche de la satisfaction du client . Tout fait pour être parfait dont qualité de l’accueil, des équipements.
Dog friendly
Nothing
Exceptional. Very clean, tidy and special requests met. Pleasant staff.
We have just returned from another excellent break at South Lawn. As always , the staff were great...the rooms were spotlessly clean and the food was marvelous, The amazing thing is ,that the staff manage to maintain these standards consistently. That is why they were recently awarded four stars by Visit England.
I would go and stay again as a warm welcome lovely clean rooms and friendly staff
Location was perfect. Very quiet and beautiful grounds.
Room was hot, I appreciate there was a heat wave.
Spent a fabulous few days with the wife and our two dogs at the South Lawn Hotel in Milford on Sea. Every time we return, both the hotel and the staff seem to get better and better. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly, and the food is absolutely first class. Whether you’re there for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and cakes, or an evening meal, you certainly won’t be disappointed. A big thank you to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back! 🐾❤️
Personnel très sympa
Rien
Staff were so kind and helpful. We had 3 dogs with us and the facilities for them were amazing with fenced dog paddock, they were allowed in the restaurant. Lovely big room and couldn’t fault anything. Would definitely stay again.
Nothing
Room was ok but basic. Dinner was nice
Breakfast was terrible, and very expensive.
Dog friendly, large comfy room.
Nothing not to like!
Continental breakfast, good choices & good value for money. We didn't have the cooked breakfast but from what I saw it looked well cooked & appetising although possibly slightly overpriced at £13.50. Evening meal was excellent, a wide choice of meals, wines & beers. Room was nice & clean, the bed was comfortable, the TV was big enough (not too large), the bathroom & shower were excellent with plenty (but not too many) towels for the 2 of us.
More of a couple of suggestions rather than didn't likes: (1) There were 4 or more portions of butter on each table but about 30% weren't used so may have been thrown away which would be a waste. (2) I didn't see any recycling bins in the room or in the hotel for plastic so didn't know what to do the empty plastic water bottles we had. I may have missed the recycling bins but if I did it was because they weren't prominent.
Quiet . Brilliant location . Fantastic room . Lovely breakfast.
Recommend to have shampoo conditioner and shower gel on pumps in shower rather than small bottles. Fiddly to open when having a shower. Otherwise everything excellent.
Location and helpful staff
Good and value for money. Great service
We liked all of our stay apart from not enough disabled bays
A wonderful place to stay. Excellent food, rooms, parking, location, seating, bar and dining rooms. Plenty of very helpful staff. Really guest and dog friendly
This must be our 5th stay at South Lawn, and as previously, we cannot fault the hotel or staff. The room in the older part was comfortable, tastefully decorated, very clean, with modern, purposeful furniture. And the bed was very large and comfortable. We very much appreciated the fridge in the room, and the limitless supply of chilled water from the bar - good for us and the environment. The table top fan kept the room cool enough. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and functional. The lounge areas downstairs were very relaxing, cool and comfortable and like the rooms, decorated perfectly. The staff were as previously, friendly and professional, making us feel very welcome. The hotel is ideal for the beach and marshes, if you like swimming, walking and bird watching, and only a short drive from the New Forest - a perfect location. We look forward to our next visit.
Large comfortable room,good location
Too many dogs in the bar on the first evening
The perfect stay - next time will be longer than the one night! I stayed with family and two dogs. The dog field is the perfect place to let your dogs roam safely secured in the fenced area. The staff - second to none!
My wife and I have just sent a great weekend at South Lawn Hotel. Everything was perfect which is very uncommon in a hotel: the room (spacious, modern, clean), the staff (efficient and courteous). The place is beautiful and the restaurant very good. Everything has been carefully thought through. We will definitely go back.
Quiet had everything we needed
A little out of the way from town car access only
The Staff were great
The rooms have no Air Conditioning and it was sweltering
3 night break at a wonderful New Forest Hotel, from arrival to departure the staff were polite, helpful and accommodating. Things to note was the location, the free EV charging units, dogs welcome and the cleanliness of the rooms and public areas. Dogs however are only as good as their owners and some were allowed to roam off lead and visited our room on several occasions uninvited to our surprise however we will certainly return to this lovely hotel
Refurbished smart rooms. Very good food. Friendly staff.
Loved everything about our stay. Was comfortable and quiet and relaxing. Staff were amazing and so helpful
The bed was a little hard and woke up with sore backs but nothing too drastic
Our first summer visit to South Lawn after many in the Spring, Autumn and Winter and a heatwave thrown in for good measure! Early morning walks with Loki then back for an amazing breakfast consisting of fresh fruit, yogurt, croissants, cereals, toast, and a full English. All run like a well oiled machine by a team of delightful people. We are always so impressed with all aspects of South Lawn. Afternoon tea on the shady patio or maybe a beautiful cooling G “n” T - what a way to spend a three day break! All four of us wish to thank Nikki, Tim and the crew. See you soon Mel and Jane, Rae and Mary and of course Loki 🐾
Room was clean and comfortable with loads of space. Lots of storage. Food was good but portions a tad small. Excellent location close to the village centre and beach
Nothing really, its a lovely place and I'm sure we'll be back
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Good food and excellent table service. Use of a free EV charger.
Excellent location and beautiful hotel very thoughtfully and carefully managed. Room felt newly renovated with lots of little attentions to detail such as the provision of a fridge a fan and unlimited bottled water . excellent staff in all situations lovely lounge area and nice outdoor seating as well for the hot weather.
Lovely location and room. Dog paddock a real bonus
English breakfast wasn't great
Great location, close to beaches and a short drive into Lymington. Lovely clean room, very spacious. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Good breakfast with lots of choice and cooked to order.
Good location, friendly and polite staff.
"Garden Room" is an optimistic description for the room. Although it did indeed overlook a green space, it was more akin to a picnic area than anything resembling a garden and had a constant stream of dogwalkers passing the patio outside.
We ate in the restaurant both evenings…the food was delicious , not a great range but what we ordered was very giid.
Our only problem was i found a small hair in my food, reported straight away and was replaced, took a while obviously but my husband had finished eating by the time I got mine. Was handled very efficiently and discreetly, I was offered a free drink which i declined but accepted a pudding (pavlova was not home made unfortunately) . I think my meal should not have been charged for..but i couldn’t tell because the bill was not itemised. Overall we had a great stay, huge room and really friendly staff and we will definitely visit again.
Room was spacious , the bathroom was good and the decor attractive.
The bedroom was extremely hot and it was difficult to sleep. The hotel was unwilling to provide a second fan which was clearly needed as both guests needed a fan at night.
Beautiful location and really nice room
No complaints
The gentleman who helped with the electric parking was so helpful. The room was large and very clean. The complimentary toiletries were a nice touch. The reception staff were friendly.
The waiter at breakfast was rude. The pillows were too hard. The mattress was also very hard.
Superb 3 night stay. A lot of hotels describe themselves as dog-friendly and in essence they tolerate dogs. This was a genuine dog- friendly hotel - they welcomed them with open arms. We stayed in Room 80 on a dinner, bed and breakfast rate and the food was first class (and the staff were excellent). Our dog enjoyed the sausage at breakfast! We very rarely visit the same place twice but we are going to make an exception for this hotel and go again this time next year. Could not fault anything - even the room had a fan which was essential as it was 32c the days we were there. Thank you for a great stay and see you in 2027!
Really lovely hotel, great location for beaches and Lymington for a bigger town centre. Stayed for 3 nights, staff were very attentive and friendly. Great choices for breakfast and fresh as everything is cooked to order. Really nice clean spacious room, plenty of toiletries and tea and coffee. Loved it and will definitely be coming back!
Room
Great grounds, lovely rooms
Beds not very comfortable. Hard pillows and mattress
Exactly what we wanted; clean, airy, comfortable. Our room had mini fridge and great tea & coffee, we booked king room which had lovely big bed and was very spacious. We were meeting friends on their boat everyday so didn’t eat there, but the reception staff were v hospitable and helpful, the car charging was a bonus. Although it says 3 star, it was exactly what we needed, they had even opened the window and put a fan on in our room ahead of arrival, which in the July heat was a godsend. Thank you to this little gem, we will be back
Clean and welcoming
Visited for afternoon tea last week & we used a voucher received for my birthday back in April! My mother has a few dietary issues and previously (elsewhere!) has just had to "make do" with whatever they had she could eat! Maggie (reception) was amazing when we booked and made sure mum had an equally good afternoon tea as we did! We all had a wonderful afternoon tea and the scones were lovely! Me and my partner had previously been to another local hotel (Lymington) for afternoon tea and this one was a million times better! All staff were wonderful and we had a lovely time! The sun was shining and it was lovely to be able to sit outside in the garden afterwards with a g&t!
Afternoon tea on a beautiful day, daughters late birthday tea. Booked through Maggie on reception who was extremely helpful and so pleasant. The whole experience was lovely. Food presented well, and tasted first class. I have dietary needs and the Chef delt with this making my food every bit as interesting as every one else. Most definitely recommend this afternoon tea. After the food we went to sit outside and it was perfect. Thank you to all the staff making it such a special occasion.
This was our 3rd stay in 3 years at South Lawn and it gets better every time. Easy to find and ideally situated for access to the coast and countryside. A warm welcome from familiar faces, always a good sign. Plenty of parking, a short walk into the village, the same again to the seafront with views of the Isle of Wight. The light and comfortable lounge area has been expanded, a lovely spot for tea and cake or a pre-dinner drink. Our garden room was spacious, with everything we needed to be comfortable, a lovely shower room, and a big picture window onto the rear garden. A relaxing space to return to after each outing. If it wasn't for the inclement weather we would have made more use of our private patio. I had invited younger family to join us for afternoon tea and they were well looked after. We were on a DBB booking and in addition to ths excellent breakfast, had no trouble finding something different to eat each evening. Nothing is too much trouble. I sent an email with some idle questions and found everyone in reception already working on the answers minutes after I'd pressed send. Housekeeping were equally friendly and helpful. Already thinking about when we can visit again.
Satisfied with experience
Perhaps air conditioning room was very hot!
Staff very helpful and friendly. Room very clean and comfortable beds. Tasty food.
Poor outlook from room considering price paid was high for room only. Room very basic. Limited menu for both dinner and breakfast.
This was our sixteenth stay at the South Lawn Hotel - that alone should be enough to let you know how good we think it is! Each visit reminds us that the comfort, service and welcome we get is second to none. Tim, Nikki and their team look after you marvellously and it's really nice to see familiar faces. This won't be our last visit....
Our 4th visit and once again, South Lawns did not disappoint. Beautiful location a short walk from the lovely village of Milford-on-Sea with its quaint shops and artisan restaurants and bars. What makes South Lawns special are the staff who can’t do enough for you and are always cheerful and friendly. When we visited temperatures were in the mid 30’s but they were still going the extra mile to make sure the guests were as comfortable as possible. Highly recommended for a quiet break with beautiful scenery and tons to do in the local area. Restaurant is very good.
Everything
Gute Lage - leider ist die Ortsangabe mit Lymington anstatt Milford on Sea auf booking.com schlichtweg falsch und wir haben mehr als 1 Stunde Zeit verloren !
unmotiviertes wenig aufmerksames Personal
I would recommend this place to anyone the hotel is excellent the rooms are good and well maintained all the staff are so helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them I must also say that the cheff knows how to cook the dinner was outstanding just the way I like it and the breakfast well that set us up for the day well done to everyone you are all outstanding
Our third stay at south lawn hotel with family and our 2 dogs . We love coming here because We know staff will provide an excellent service. The rooms we booked were on the ground floor with a small terrace with table and chairs and easy access to the grounds for our dogs . Even when the hotel hosted large social gatherings we didn’t feel neglected, and there was still lots of space for us to relax, and service was still excellent . We look forward to visiting next year . Well done south lawns team .
It was very peaceful and a very nice location
Taken ill on the second day we were there and spent two days in bed holiday due to finish on the Monday but had to leave on the Friday the hotel let booking. Com know what was happening and a refund of £400 plus was due but they couldn't refund the money as I booked though booking. Com and it was up to them to refund me and I know the hotel refunded booking. Com for my short stay
Lovely room excellent facilities , staff were very helpful and welcoming, and the hotel had thought of every little thing to make your stay more comfortable.
Didn't want a cooked breakfast a selection of fruits Would been nice very limited selection
No fruit selection for breakfast
After having enjoyed a meal in the restaurant with our dog last year, we decided to spend 6 nights here after having dropped our son off at Heathrow Airport. From the moment we arrived, it was obvious that this hotel and all the staff are very dog friendly but what was even more impressive was that it was spotlessly clean with not the faintest whiff of doggy smells. Well done to the Housekeeping Team! Our room was extremely spacious, again spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. Our visit was the week when temperatures had soared to the late 20s so a fan had been provided, windows left open and curtains closed which helped reduce the temperature in the room. We felt it was safe enough to leave the windows open while out and during the night… The hospitality tray was kept well stocked and single use toiletries provided, although it would have been preferable to have had the more environmentally friendly, large bottles. A “Doggie Bag” was given to Daisy, containing treats, a roll of poo bags and a fold-up water bowl that was a god-send in the hot weather as it was smaller and more portable than the portable one we had brought with us. The Paddock was a fantastic place to let her off not having to worry about her escaping. A "waste bin” was located within the Paddock and another on the edge of the car park so no excuse to not “pick up”. Daisy says “Thank You”! As it was so hot, it scuppered our plans to explore the coast and countryside on long, dog walks so the terraced area with patio tables and chairs was a favourite in the afternoons, enjoying drinks from the bar and chatting with other guests whilst the dog could chill out in the shade of the parasols with a freshly provided bowl of water. Well done to the Bar Staff! A couple of times, Reception were asked for advice which was always met with a smile and friendly, useful response. Thank you to the Reception Team! All the staff we encountered during our stay went over and above any expectations to deliver a superb hotel experience. Everyone was extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating and nothing seemed too much trouble to them. Would recommend to anyone, and hopefully we’ll be returning before too long.
Well maintained hotel with very professional staff who worked hard to make a pleasant experience. We were in the new block which was really clean with spacious rooms
Everything was good
Every single thing.
We went to South Lawn Hotel on a coach tour of gardens in Hampshire and Dorset. This was the hotel used for the four days of our holiday. It was superbly managed from the very moment we arrived when the owner came onto the coach to give us all the information required, including our room numbers. Our cases were taken to our beautiful rooms immediately for us to rest and unpack. The food was delicious and the waiting staff very efficient and charming. We would definitely recommend it.
Love the area of Milford on Sea. South Lawns hotel is a fantastic hotel and would recommend to anyone!! It has a lovely relaxing atmosphere. The bedrooms are spacious, comfortable and modern, with full facilities. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking spaces for guests vehicles. Good walks nearby and tge hotel is dog friendly. The hotel is very good value. The bar area and restaurant are also excellent!!
I think this is the fifth time we have stayed here . It’s very relaxing and the rooms are really good and clean . The staff are always on hand and you can speak to them about knowledge of the area and places to visit . Plenty of parking and easy to drive off to places like Lymington or Muddeford . A bus stop down the road too . Walking distance to the village which is a pleasant enough experience. Dog friendly and your canine can join you for brekkie and dinner !
Excellent Hotel and the most dog friendly we have ever come across. Service was excellent so was the location. Our little dog was treated as a guest, water brought to her at the table on a tray in the restaurant where the food was top notch, she even got her own sausage at breakfast. Will definitely be going back!
Had a 4 night stay as a birthday gift and it was fantastic. There was literally nothing to fault the hotel, the service, the friendly and helpful staff. It was all perfect, we cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.
We did not take breakfast as had dinner the previous evening.
I loved everything about this hotel, the cleanliness, the standard of the rooms and the very polite staff
This hotel is set in a lovely location it is very dog friendly with a huge dog run within the grounds. The staff went above and beyond to help you
Food was great, rooms were a great size and we were impressed with the overall experience. Great location!
Good value for money. Large spacious and clean rooms in the new section of the hotel. Very dog friendly, with a convenient dog walking paddock to the side of the garden. Staff were extremely pleasant especially Chris on front reception so went the extra mile to help us get into the village quicker as we were late for dinner !
The room was very hot and could do with some air conditioning although there was a fan. The bed was quite firm. The evening meal we had in the restaurant was rather bland and ordinary. Location was a good 15 minutes walk from the village plus another 10 to the beach although the beaches in the immediate area aren’t particularly accessible.
The room ,service at Reception, the garden area
The breakfast was nice and the evening meal but they were not very hot when served to us.
Clean
Lovely big rooms. Attentive friendly staff. Very clean. Very dog friendly. Amazing food! We loved it.
Main parts of hotel were too warm for me.
Very comfortable and like the new extension area
Bedroom was very hot - even with fan and window open
We attended a wake at the hotel and we stop the night the staff from the reception through to the restaurant all fantastic and made a sad day better
Nothing
Very dog friendly, excellent service, excellent food
We were there for a friends ‘wake’ which was well catered and staff very switched on and attentive. All subsequent catering was excellent. Dinner very good (chicken schnitzel) and salmon with scrambled egg for breakfast splendid! My room was rather too warm and window only openable a crack so not a perfect night’s sleep; plus fridge rather noisy so had to turn off as discussed with reception. Overall we were very impressed and would stay again.
Was excellent
Nothing to dislike
Location and setting, grounds lovely. Really good facilities for dogs!
A lovely recently refurbished very large bedroom, very well furnished with plenty of storage. Shower room excellent, again large. Plenty of tea and coffee etc. Bonus was a small fridge. We had continental breakfasts, but there were cooked options to order. We ate in the restaurant and the food was really good and extremely well priced.
Nothing
Room overlooked a flat roof a view would have been much nicer. Should we have booked direct rather than through booking.com
Dog friendly
Refurbed hotel room by the coast . Dog paddock and friendly staff !
Nothing
Great location, clean rooms, good outside area. Good all round and value for money! Definitely return!
Nothing negative to report!
Sooo dog friendly! 🐕
Nothing
A compact hotel. Most rooms on ground floor. The lounge was open and quiet. Restaurant food excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful
Too many dogs I’m afraid!
Our friends have been coming to this hotel for over 10 years and asked us to join them for a short break. It is a lovely hotel and we found the accommodation and staff exceptional and it is no wonder so many of the guests we chatted to are frequent visitors. It is in a great location for visits to the New Forest, had a lovely atmosphere and staff were extremely helpful. We definitely hope to return some time soon.
We’d highly recommend a stay at South Lawns Hotel—it’s one of those places that just gets everything right. The rooms are spacious, beautifully comfortable, and finished to a really high standard, making it easy to relax from the moment you arrive. What truly sets it apart for us, though, is the warm, thoughtful atmosphere. Our elderly German Shepherd is treated like royalty—completely spoilt and made to feel just as welcome as we are, which means a great deal (although next time, you might have to hide those doggy treats from Mike, at reception or we’ll never get her to leave!). Add to that excellent food, a well-stocked bar, and a team of staff who go out of their way to make every stay special, and you have somewhere we always look forward to returning to. A heartfelt thank you to everyone there for looking after us so well. Roz and Mike n Misha
Lovely location - very comfortable stay
We had a lovely time at the South Lawn Hotel. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a garden room. The room was very spacious and clean with everything you could ever need. We went with our little dog and it really is such a dog friendly hotel. He was able to come to breakfast with us, we were sat in our own area in the restaurant, the hotel staff brought a water bowl and sausage. The highlight was having access to an enclosed area where he could play all the fetch he wanted. It is also really well located and is in close proximity to lymington ferry station and also the new forest. There is also a huge Waitrose a 10 minute drive away. We would really recommend this hotel, especially if you have a dog.
