Staff
The property is old and showing wear and tear. Require complete revamp
Excellent simply superb location
Nothing
The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, Alfina, Gayathri, Ajay, Sai, Amal, Alan, Lucy, Aksya and Vin were so lovely and helpful. Our driver Sanal was excellent and so helpful and really knowledgeable about the area it made our stay so good. My wife especially wants to thank Alfina and Gayathri for helping her with putting on 2 Saree outfits. Thank you to all the wonderful staff. Danny and Jacqueline

We were upgraded to a cottage from 2 two double rooms. The rooms were spacious with a the most unique bathrooms with natural light that I've been in. The fitness center was adequate and I had the entire space to myself since it's open 24 hours and noone was there during the night. What I liked the most were the cured natural spaces, the lake within the property which attracted all kinds of birds and the tranquil environment. The breakfast was good as well.
Nothing that I didn't like. Everything was good.
Everything from room, to spa to the food.
All except given below
Last year I stayed at a much more premium cottage for same rate and included Dinner Also. So basically it was over priced
Excellent
Everything was perfect Question is immaterial
This is a gorgeous property in an incredible setting. The staff are so friendly and look after guests with exceptional service. There are monkeys, monitor lizards, turtles, an abundance of butterflies etc. The spa and restaurants are fabulous too. We were allowed a late checkout to help us manage our young baby who needed to sleep
Cycles, badminton court for fun, sunset view. My kid liked the turtle and fish feeding. Staff were helpful
Over rated property. Premium lagoon view cottage is tiny and the bath/toilet is rudimentary. The so called lagoon is just a big pond. The canal system around the property is smelly and filled with filthy stagnant water. Breakfast is same menu every day.
Beautiful setting and lovely facilities. Extremely attentive staff and a v good restaurant.
Management of guests at the pool - I asked a group to turn their music down as the member of staff felt she couldn’t. I feel she should have been able ask her more senior manager. I would have thought a hotel of this standard would also offer spirits - but this was not an option.
Layout of the property
The chef’s service attitude was unprofessional and disappointing, showing little regard for guests and coming across as indifferent rather than welcoming. The quality of the food was equally concerning. The dishes were well below acceptable standards, lacking flavor, freshness, and proper presentation. For local cuisine, the quality was particularly poor and did not meet even basic expectations. Overall, the experience reflected a clear lack of care in both service and food quality, which significantly undermines the reputation of Taj Hotels as an establishment.
The location and facilities within the resort were excellent, in keeping with the star rating of the property.
Very peaceful and relaxing. The afternoon tea near the lake was excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly Facilities Great with toiletries from forest essentials which was fantastic.
Food was very good however More choice and another restaurant with different variety of food would be great.
Nice location, overall good property, helpful staff.
Nothing like Taj, not clean, average facilities. Dispointing as a Taj property.
We were here for New Years eve and the whole experience was magical. Beautifully decorated property for New Year. Mr. Ajay ensured that kids were well engaged and staff was very helpful during our stay. Food spread was nice.
Was a bit too pricey for New Years eve. Could have better maintained greenery like Taj Kovalam.
Architecture patrimoniale, grands espaces qui donnent sur un lac rempli de nénuphars
The Taj groupe once more has made it ! We had a wonderful time in a wonderful heritage room (18). The Taj has the capacity of pleasing any demanding client with the quality of the staff. We specifically thank Priya at the reception for her professional attitude towards all our demands. The very elegant hotel manager was very nice too. The hotel certainly deserves a 9+ on the Booking rating and I think the underrating is du to a misunderstanding of the Taj philosophy. Oldy but goody, very goody. I think the charm of such a hotel is more about the tradition they perpetuate, more than the equipment in general.
Not a complete fan of the swimming pool area. I could handle a complete renovation.
What really works here is the location and the staff. It's perfect for disconnecting from a hectic world for a few days. The lake and the cottages that face it are perfect for some down time. The staff are very courteous and extremely helpful. They tried to accommodate requests as much as possible and were nice about it. Upon reading before booking the place I came across comments that the cottages at old and dated etc. They are old, but I thought that some ways that adds to the charm of my stay.
The only drawback I can think about Taj Kumarakom is the restaurant. Breakfast buffet is good, but could be much better. There is no buffets other than for breakfast. I found the food a bit bland and it could definitely be improved without too much effort. That's something the management has to pay some attention to urgently, in my opinion.
Great setting and location
Rooms and facilities were tired and worn with several things in our room either broken or not working properly
The property is simply mind blowing! It’s truly paradise on earth. Staff is excellent. Food delicious. Service is 100% heart! Keep it up.
The property adjacent to the Vembanard lake with cottages facing the lagoon is the usp and breathtakingly beautiful. Everything is old world, like right out of fairy tale experience. The property is not large with just 28 cottages and no wonder it’s like never available so we were fortunate to be part of this experience even though we were there for just a night.
There is nothing not to like. But be mindful, it’s for the relaxers but more than a night or more, it can be a but drag. But that’s not a criticism for the property. That’s the backwaters for you. After all how much boating can you do and how much quiet and stillness of the nature can you sink in for. We were there with a 7 year old so there’s limited room for activities (there was cycling and a zip line) but that’s done in a couple of minutes. Some dance performance in the evening. There is a huge room for improvement as far as food spread goes. With only two restaurants, one for sea food and the other Murli-cuisine, there wasn’t any variety. Breakfast spread was less than satisfactory and quite a disappointment for the Taj Brand. So please look into it. It needs to be of international standards given guests are from all over the world and from the country’s and the food experience can’t be limited to Kerala style alone.
Great experience, wonderful setting with excellent food and friendly and helpfull staff.
The bathroom might need minor retreatment for grouting
Na
We had a truly wonderful stay at Taj Kumarakom : a perfect blend of nature, heritage and hospitality. The serene backwaters, lush greenery and attentive staff made our get together unforgettable. Grateful for the peaceful moments and beautiful memories. A big shout out to the breakfast team - your cheerful smiles, impeccable service, delicious spread made every morning a pleasure. A special thanks to the magician who brought joy with his delightful tricks. Gratitude to Vishnu, pool attendant, for being so attentive and thoughtful always ensuring we were comfortable and well looked after.
Property needs minor upkeep
Excellent location big property great service
Food. Not much choices. Not up to the taste. Also a few villas including ours don’t have buggy connectivity in the last leg. During monsoon it’s very inconvenient. I actually slipped and fell
Ambience , location , Staff and kerala menu
Price of the accomodation
the property is good to be revisted
The hospitality extended to us was wonderful, it makes us feel to be back again .
None
The calmness and the friendliness of the staff
I was dreading mosquitoes- but didnt see any
We chose Taj Kumarakom to unwind and escape from our fast-paced life. True to their website description, this resort beautifully integrates with the local wildlife—indeed, we saw more birds and wildlife here than at the nearby bird sanctuary! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed with refreshing coconut water and charming coconut garlands. Seamless check-in, escorted us to our room, and introduced us to the delightful "Chaykada" for evening tea. Our room was super spacious and centrally located, providing easy access to the front of the resort—where the front office, restaurant, and activities area are situated—as well as to the back, featuring the tranquil backwaters and Chaykada, the evening tea area. We later discovered that the late Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, had stayed in the same room during his visit to Kumarakom for medical treatment. Each morning began peacefully with the melodies of birds. Our days effortlessly flowed from swimming to a delicious breakfast, followed by badminton or cycling, rest, gym sessions, another swim, and dinner. We genuinely can't believe how quickly our week passed! The housekeeping team, activity team, wellness team, and restaurant team are awesome. Entertainment during Dinner was wonderful. While we enjoyed cycling or walking around the resort, we greatly appreciated the buggy service, which was always promptly available. It was truly difficult for us to leave this wonderful place, and we are already looking forward to returning soon! Kumarakom is a village and I completely understand the power cut issues. The sync between moving to the backup and main at the property is bit slow.
SERENE ENVIRONMENT ; VERY HOSPITABLE STAFF
BATHROOMS COULD BE MODERNIZED
Location, Concept, Food, house boat and everything
The staff couldnt do enough for us and were always pleasant and smiling. Food excellent . Loved the Indian dancing at night and the free afternoon tea.
Nothing
Lovely property and friendly staff.
Location
Run down rooms, poor upkeep
This was the most serene, rejuvenating and luxurious property I’ve ever been to. 15 acres and only 28 units. Wonderful views of the lake. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool, high tea, the restaurants and services.
Stunning environment. Very comfortable and large rooms, excellent food in the restaurant for reasonable prices. Loved the bikes that are provided
I loved the idea of outdoor shower, but it wasn’t the most practical and took a while to get the water temperature right, resulting in wasting water
We loved our two night stay. The ambience of this resort is amazing. And as usual Taj Resorts has impeccable service. All the staff was constantly smiling and ready to help. We particularly enjoyed our meals. Highly recommended.
Everything about Taj Kumarakom Resort is fabulous and our family had one of our most awesome holiday here. Mr. Vin Pughal, the Duty Manager is a wonderful person and made sure that me and my family were taken care of in the best possible manner.
Nothing really. The staff looked like they need training.
Staff were very inexperienced and room was not clean.
We had a wonderful stay at this Taj. We extended our stay by a night. The private cottages were very comfortable and the restaurant options great. The property is designed with a lot of green spaces leading up to the lake.
The location at the backwaters overlooking Lake Vembanad was very lovely, and the staff are very helpful and attentive.
The technology and facilities(TV, Intercom, Wi-Fi, electrical outlets) are a little old and need maintenance
Ambience and surrounding . Rooms were spacious and clean.
Food was not that much satisfactory.
Great staff and service and finger kicking food at both he restaurants
A nature retreat, great location with mainly individual cottages, loved their sunset tea and snacks and Great Lake Vembanad views. Food quality and service were excellent. A great idea for a nature retreat! Also, their arrangement for an early morning Shikara through narrow canals of backwater was superb! I wish they took care of our driver as well similar to other hotels
Hotel was very nice. Location was perfect. Restaurants were good. Personal very helpful and friendly especially Vinush at the pool.
Breakfast was only average. Better amenities should be offered for the driver!
Was initially disappointing, with the veg meal, but staff called the chef, and additional meals were then very good.
Really peaceful and tranquil location. Loved the lagoons, spa in the resort. Food was pretty great too and they try to accomodation dietary restrictions. Enjoyed kayaking in the lagoon too & morning boat ride
My only complaint was about the activities for the morning cycle tour. The cycles aren't great and it wasn't a tour but a cycle ride through village and rice fields - didn't get explanations about anything.
Wonderful property, Well managed. Mayank Mittal and his team do a great job. The service is outstanding. Thank you for a great stay.
Very good buffet breakfast with various Indian and continental choices
Location, greenery , landscaping , facilities , villas
Location …
