Full payment for all bookings will be charged at the time of booking. All major credit & debit cards are accepted excluding American Express.
All bookings will include a temporary membership fee per person per night. (Full, existing members of Hosteling Scotland and HI using these channels are not entitled to a membership refund).
Individual reservations (Up to 9 people) - can cancel free of charge until 3 days before the arrival date. If canceled within the 3 days before the arrival 100 percent of the total price will be charged.
Groups reservations (more than 9 people) - different policies and additional supplements will apply. More than 8 weeks (57 days or more) 20% of total cost. 8 – 4 weeks (56- 29 days) 55% of total cost. 4 – 0 weeks (28 - 0 day) 100% of total cost.
No stag or hen parties are permitted at any youth hostel.
Should guests be entitled to a refund or part refund please note that these are processed by Hosteling Scotland National Office, Stirling. It may take 7 to 10 working days from the date of cancelation request for the refund to be processed back onto the original card used.
From the age of 12 to 15 years, young people must be accompanied by a parent or guardian of the same gender when booking a bed within shared accommodations. Parties with children under 12 years will only be accommodated in private rooms, where available.
Hosteling Scotland advise that additional notice be given to the destination youth hostel when traveling with children, to ensure that suitable accommodations is available. There is no capacity for extra beds or cots.
Check-in from 16:00 until 22:30. Check-out from 07:00 until 10:00. The reception is open between 07:00 until 22:30. Later arrival and access outside opening hours is by pre-arrangement only.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation.
Please note that the full amount of the reservation is due before arrival. will send a confirmation with detailed payment information. After full payment is taken, the property's details, including the address and where to pick up the keys, will be sent to you by email.
Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply.

The only quibble would be that I miss a small desk in individual or twin rooms. But plenty of tables in common areas if I need be on my laptop for a while.

Reviewed Sep 11, 2026Vraiment un super rapport qualité prix! Prix imbattable pour la qualité du lieu! Proche du centre ville tout en étant un peu à part au calme dans la nature. Beaucoup de salles de bains et toilettes accessibles et très propres. Lieux communs ( coin repas, salon) très agréables et grands. Accueil sympathique du personnel qui fait l’effort de parler lentement pour se faire comprendre ( appréciable quand on est français et nuls en anglais :p). Possibilité de faire une machine à laver sur place.
Literie moyenne et insonorisation absente entre les chambres mais cela ne m’a pas gêné car les gens sont respectueux. Ne jamais oublier sa clé en sortant de sa chambre et portes des chambres un peu lourdes et difficiles à ouvrir.

Alle nassen Sachen sind über Nacht komplett trocken geworden, was im Zimmer nicht möglich gewesen wäre. Die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet, und trockene Küchenlappen waren immer vorhanden. Es gibt genügend Duschen und Toiletten, und trotz der vielen Gäste war immer etwas frei. Insgesamt hat man das Gefühl, dass sich liebevoll um einen gekümmert wird. :-)
Man kann natürlich mit Leuten in ein Zimmer kommen, die weniger rücksichtsvoll sind, aber das kann in jedem Hostel passieren …

Reviewed Sep 1, 2026The hostel is in a great location - close to roads, amenities and services. Plenty of parking. The hostel has a lovely common room, kitchen and dining area. The room was comfortable and clean, and the staff are always friendly and helpful.
A large group of guests on the final evening of my stay caused quite a bit of noise and inconvenience for other visitors, including waking me up four times between 12.30-2.30am. They were loud, and despite a policy of no off-location alcohol, had brought quite a bit of their own to consume in the common room. I spoke to reception staff before checking out, who were very understandable and sympathetic, noted my points and said they had received the same information from others.

Friendly staff on the phone and on arrival, we were able to use the lounge area before check-in due to bad weather, Comfirtable beds and great shared facilities especially the kitchen area. We had an issue with our door lock which was dealt with promptly and with humour! Recommended for all ages.

Reviewed Aug 24, 2026Quiero hacer una reclamación y devolución del dinero de Aviemore Youth Hostel. Lo único que me gustó fue que estaba cerca del tren y el paraje natural que acompaña a la pesadilla de lugar.
El malolor, la falta de higiene, la moqueta sucia, la sala de estar no tenía nada que ver con las fotos, sofás malcuidados y sucios. Con lo cual, díganme a qué correo electrónico debo escribir para la devolución de mí dinero empleado en un lugar que no se muestra en las imágenes cedidas por Booking a la hora de hacer la reserva. Las fotos de Booking muy bien presentadas, nada que ver con la realidad.

Reviewed Aug 18, 2026Il y avait un grand espace commun avec beaucoup de canapés pour se poser. Ambiance conviviale, mais assez d’espace dans les communs si on préfère rester seul.
Le lit n’était pas très confortable malheureusement, on sentait les ressorts et cela gênait. La chambre était très petite pour 6 personnes (alors que j’avais réservé un lit dans un dortoir de 4 personnes), il était même compliqué de trouver de la place pour poser chacun son sac. De plus, il n’y avait qu’un crochet pour pendre toutes ses affaires dans la douche et aucun endroit pour se changer au sec.

Lack of parking. Crowded small bedroom and very smelly and lack of ventilation. Six on bunk beds. I booked a lower bunk because I have mobility concerns and for four nights. Got a top bunk and had to bribe an able person to swap. Survivor but challenging.

Auberge de jeunesse vieille surtout les chambres tres petites pour 4, un peu glauque. Des problèmes de serrure pour ouvrir la chambre,pas beaucoup de douches et de toilettes. C est tres éparpillé.

The smell in rooms 19 and 1 is very strong — it smells of mold and some other unnatural substances. The hostel is extremely noisy, and the noise from the hallway and neighbouring rooms is very disturbing. Nothing is sound‑isolated. The beds were not comfortable. Because we started our days early, we also returned early, but the heating in the rooms was only turned on after 6 PM. The kitchen did not have any deep plates.

Literie un peu vieillissante. Moquette dans tout établissement, comme dans beaucoup d hébergements au royaume Uni, mais qui n est pas forcément adapté à une auberge de jeunesse avec beaucoup de randonneurs.

Reviewed Aug 3, 2026Great location at the edge of town, beautiful grounds, lovely staff. The kitchen was great and the dining area was spacious. There were several other nice common areas including a big lounge and a place to read.
When booking, you are notified that a car parking space is included in the booking, but this isn't the case. It's first come first served in the car park, so a space is not guaranteed. The floors are extremely creaky, the rooms all have heavy fire doors which bang closed late at night and early in the morning and the soundproofing is pretty non existent. We barley slept because of banging doors, creakiing floors and noise from other guests. I wouldn't stay again for that reason.

La posizione eccellente, alle spalle dell'ostello si ha un bellissimo percorso nella riserva naturale del craighiellaic e si può raggiungere a piedi il sentiero per il loc an eilein. Reviewed Jul 25, 2026Das Hostel ist wunderschön gelegen und sehr gut mit dem Zug erreichbar. Es ist sehr gemütlich, sauber und hat alles was man braucht. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir haben uns rundherum wohlgefühlt und kommen gern wieder.

Reviewed Jul 23, 2026Very comfy bed in the dormitory! I like how with Scottish hostels you always get 2 pillows. Facilities were all clean and functional as you would expect from a youth hostel, and had everything I needed. Free luggage storage was also helpful

Reviewed Jul 20, 2026The cleanest hostel I’ve stayed at (and I have stayed at many). The kitchen was immaculate and the bedding incredible. Couldn’t recommend it more. And soooo affordable!! Perfect location to hikes and the town centre. If I ever came back I would definitely stay here again 😁❤️

the room I checked in had dirty carpet and as I was at top bed it was very visible small spider net and dirty ventilation box and ceiling. I thought that the next day the floor will be hovered, but It was not so I asked in reception if this can be done the next day, but it was not actioned. Only the next day it was done. So I spend 3 nights of 4 with dirty and messy floor, Everyday somebody new cheched in so the staff changed the sheets and must have seen at least very messy carpet.

Reviewed Jul 15, 2026Saubere Zimmer und Betten, gute Duschen, Lage ist top, Küche gut ausgestattet, Wäsche waschen war kein Problem und ist im Trockenraum schnell getrocknet.
Manche Möbel oder Toiletten sind schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Die Zimmerwände sind ziemlich dünn, ich hab den Wecker aus den Nachbarzimmer gehört. Die eine von den 4 Matratzen in unserem Zimmer sollte ausgetauscht werden. Die anderen Matratzen waren bequem.

Reviewed Jul 9, 2026Classic hostel, no unneccessary fancyness, just the basics, but everything is clean, not to mention for a unbeatalble price in the area.
It is a classic youth hostel so it is not the mpst confortalble (tiny rooms, shared bathroom and restroom), but it all comes with being a youth hostel so it's all expected.

Reviewed Jul 5, 2026Friendly staff and atmosphere, willing to help with anything. Beds were comfortable and sturdier than most hostels. Bathrooms very clean compared to other stays. I loved the common area with the forest view. It was out of this world.
Was very pleased overall, but for a proce of almost 40€ a night I thought the 3£ towel fee was a bit unnecessary.

Reviewed Jun 25, 2026This is the first time I have used a Hostel and I must say that I was very impressed with this one. The staff were very polite and helpful and made my stay easy and comfortable. The dining area was clean and tidy as was the lounge area. This area was nice with a pool table, various board games and a TV for good in house entertainment. The toilets/showers were very clean and kept tidy with plenty of hot water in the shower. The bedroom I used (Room 2) was again tidy and clean. There is 4 beds (2 single beds and a set of bunk beds) but plenty of room. My bed was really comfortable that allowed me to have two great nights sleep. There is plenty of parking space in the car park and some nice walks within the grounds. I would definitely recommend anyone who uses Hostels to try this one as they won't be disappointed. I had a good low cost stay and if I'm back in the area I will definitely consider it again. Overall I am a very satisfied customer/Hostel stayer. Thanks to everyone for making my first Hostel stay and very enjoyable experience.

Reviewed Jun 22, 2026Comfy bed, good shower, and toilets next to dorm. Super kitchen and facilities, not that they're much use to me :) Nice and handy for local facilities.
Narrow bed, to accommodate cupboard in room. Poor storage facilities in toom, no shelf, drawers. One cupboard, but hanging rail was missing and no shelf. Door closers and passing toilet users made it a little noisier than one might want, but wasn't the worst. A bedside light would have been welcome.

Reviewed Jun 22, 2026Ciekawy hostel, ludzie głównie vhodzacyypo górach więc nie ma meliniarstwa. Miejsce w lodówce, można też zostawić swoje jedzenie komuś innemu.
Na przeciwko pokoju suszarka bębnowa trochę hałasowała. W okolicy mało knajp aby coś zjeść. Brak stolika w łazience, nie ma gdzie położyć rzeczy.

Reviewed Jun 8, 2026Das Zimmer war sauber und bot ausreichend Platz. Es gab ein eigenes Waschbecken. Das Frühstück war gut. Der Aufenthaltsraum ist gross und es gibt einen Billiardtisch.
Es gab einen (Fehl-) Feueralarm am frühen morgen. Gäste, die um 23 Uhr ankamen und neben unserem Zimmer noch duschten. Vielleicht wären Rücksichtsnahmeschilder in diversen Sprachen hilfreich?
