Looked dated, not accessability for disability unless wheel chair, sight loss mobility issues The food was not nice and service bad. 4 star is pushing it. The premier inn is miles ahead of this place, it needs an upgrade and money spent. Not a good advert for the gateway to the highlands and it wasn't cheap. Don't book it.

-room was not cleaned properly during the stay. -pillows had a foul smell, end of mattress edge was dusty. -safe box was not working, I had to ask staff on 2 separate occasions after which it was fixed. -Fan extractor in bathroom was not working and wasn’t even looked into despite reporting it to reception staff.

Nous sommes arrivés tard le soir et nous voulions restés la piscine avant notre départ : il était indiqué 8h sur le site internet en fait sur place c’était 9h et pas de bol apparemment la veille quelqu’un a été malade et il fallait régler le pH de la piscine donc ça n’ouvrirait que plus tard . Donc on n’a pas pu tester ! J’aurais aimé un geste commercial .

On checking out we found out someone had charged something to our room number, the reception got it sorted after checking signature on the receipt.

It is a hotel with thousands of rooms, we had some issues finding our room, there were 3 of us, but the room had only 2 teacups

Trovare la reception è stato un'esperienza labirintica ma alla fine ok :) Alla fine il paese coincide con le dimensioni dell'hotel.

Breakfast wasn't so great I hadn't been for 2 years and since you don't get your pot of tea or coffee brought to the table anymore and considering so many children around it wasn't great trying to carry hot cups to the table. Same with the toast huge que of people waiting to make toast Breakfast was good quality porridge was lovely as was orange juice staff were helpful and lovely room .staff around the hotel were lovely and helpful as well as the staff at the pool and sauna area we had a lovely stay thank you.

The size of the room was great. The bed is two singles pushed together which is never very comfy. Some pillows are flat others are huge! The window did not seal fully so there was a constant draught although the curtains are thick The bathroom fan is as well not there! The entire room was like an ice rink after 2 showers.

The entire site is a labyrinth and the Hotel frontages are covered entirely by bushes. A lot of uneven ground underfoot. The room was generally ok but nothing special and a few grubby dated bits. Some of the staff were friendly, helpful and go out of their way to help but others.....not so friendly or even mannerly!

Water in the shower was very hard to regulate, though I was very happy not to have a bathtub! Breakfast was tather limited.

As I explained the food was average and expensive for what it was and the price of drinks were shocking, the room was adequate but the whole place needs a revamp the room servicing was virtually nil throw the covers back on the bed and change towels the room appeared to need a proper clean and definitely redecorated

The location.

We paid for this hotel for the use of the gym and the to have a spa treatment. The gym was out of action and there wasn't any spa staff on duty.

A great location in pretty surroundings.

Breakfast was basic, but ok. Not much variety to be honest and after a few days it was boring.

Bed was massive and very comfortable. The location of the Hotel is perfect and ideal for walking into Aviemore.

Felt a little dated

We liked the cleaners and maintenance staff. Who were very apologetic. We liked the second room we got.

We didn't like the fact there were big spiders webs and big spider in the room. Then water started running in through our light fitting in the bathroom. We didn't like the fact that the reception staff made us feel like we were being out of order and never once apologised for what went wrong and had no intention of offering us anything at all as compensation. Very Very poor.

Great location, seconds walk from the centre of Aviemore. Plenty parking and good access to a variety of activities, eateries and entertainment. An 11am check out was good, as was breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful.

The accommodation was tired and a bit threadbare in places, especially the curtains which were practically in tatters.

Really need to shout out Tamas and Michaela at the resort hotel. Their customer service is second to none and we had the luck to have been able to deal with them. Thank you again, 5 stars for customer service

Television in the room feels like it was made in 2006. Some staff members were far nicer than others, especially in the Aspects restaurant.

Das Bett können wir nicht beurteilen, da wir nie darin geschlafen haben, weil wir das Hotel davor schon verlassen haben und wir glücklicherweise spätabends ein anderes Hotel in der Gegend gefunden haben. Jedoch können wir erwähnen, dass die Trenntür zum Nachbarzimmer so dünn und lärmunbeständig war, dass wir JEDE Handlung des Nachbars hautnah miterlebt haben, wirklich JEDE. Beim Verlassen des Gebäudes musste die Luft angehalten werden, da sonst der Brechreiz kickte… Die Teppiche sind wirklich schmuddelig und die gesamte Anlage Renovationsbedürftig.

The bed was sagging badly and was very uncomfortable. The hotel is a bit old and in need of refurbishing. Pool is way smaller than the pictures make you think.

It was a beautiful location. My wife and myself didn’t realise that it was a vast resort. There were several hotels on the resort.

The Highland Hotel was very vast. This may be a good thing, but due to the sheer size, my wife and me [to start off with] got a li’l lost tryna find our way.

Facilities for children were excellent - loved the soft play and poor especially.

We had bedbugs in one of our rooms and no action was taken when we told staff. No offer to change rooms either. This was really shocking.

Staff were nice. Most of breakfast was ok. EV chargers available.

Small towels, decor is tired. At breakfast glasses for fruit juice were not available, coffee tasted of cleaning fluid, milk for coffee and tea was not replenished. Lots of staff in restaurant but not being managed. A soulless hotel, saved by some extent by the staff. Unless I have to, I will not return.

The staff

Coffee at breakfast was undrinkable - it tasted metallic. Single sheet on double bed so it didn’t ticking. Towels so old they were frayed at the edges

It was simply an overnight stay on route to an appointment, so it was great for that but we can't comment on the facilities because we didn't hav a chanc to use them.

But of a labyrinth to find way around.

Excellent facilities on site with an Ice Rink, Cinema, Swimming and good bars and restaurants, The staff are excellent especially in the bar where they make you feel really welcome

My partner ordered the non meat soup and was given soup that still had bits of ham in it. Luckily she isnt a vegetarian so it wasnt a huge issue. The staff were very apologetic and removed the cost from the bill.

Colazione ottima! Spazi molto ampi e belli (a volte dispersivi,ma non è un grande minus), sia interni che esterni, con playground x bambini ( unica attività gratis di cui abbiamo usufruito, le altre erano a pagamento). La struttura è pulita.

Le attività in special modo x bambini, sia interne che organizzate all'aperto, sono care. Il lenzuolo di un letto singolo nella mia stanza aveva una macchia gialla,ma ho chiesto alla donna delle pulizie di sostituirlo e l'ha fatto prontamente. Questo letto singolo era una specie di brandina e, di fatto, come quasi tutte le strutture del genere, abbastanza scomodo. Mentre il letto matrimoniale accanto al letto singolo decisamente meglio con un buon materasso molyo comodo!!! Il prezzo che abbiamo pagato è stato comunque abbastanza caro.

Vor allem für Urlaub mit Kindern ein perfekter Ort. Es gibt alles was Kinder/man selbst benötigt. Das Wellenbad ist super! Das Frühstück bietet genug verschiedene Optionen.

Die Zimmer sind etwas altmodisch und die Gänge erstmal verwirrend. Aber das ist alles ok und völlig in Ordnung, da die Lage und Zusatzmöglichkeiten bei weitem überwiegen.

Gym was closed in summer holidays. Not enough towels. Restaurant could have cracked a smile occasionally. Very abrupt and not welcoming.

It seemed to be dark inside even with lights on. It was not disable friendly as mobility scooter would not fit in lift.

Really clean in rooms, communal areas and pool. Lovely hot shower, tv and kettle. Nice quiet location. Food and staff in the restaurant were excellent.

The first room was by a noisy fire escape /main door but reception dealt with it straight away and moved me to a quieter room

The room was tired and not as clean as I would have expected for a four star but it was comfortable with comfy beds.

Wij zijn hier 5 dagen verbleven in een 4 persoons hotel kamer. Kamer is wat aan de oude kant. De bedden zijn wel goed. Wij zaten in 2128 en deze kamer stond direct in verbinding met zwembad, dus voor de kinderen ideaal zodat je niet met al je spullen hoeft te slepen! Zwembad was echt prima voor de kinderen. Zit ook een sauna en Turks stoombad bij. Moet je wel 16 voor zijn om in te mogen. In de kamer miste wel iets van een klein koelkastje ofzo zodat we wat drinken koel konden houden voor in de avonden of om mee te nemen voor dagjes weg (omdat je vaak wel op pad gaat). Zoals in eerdere recensies geschreven staat is het park gedateerd. En dat klopt. Zonde wat er is nog zoveel meer uit te halen! Een upgrade is echt wel nodig. Er is voor kleine kinderen een leuke speeltuin! Er is genoeg ruimte om voor de wat oudere kinderen iets van een voetbalveldje (hoeft niet groot) aan te leggen. Nu merk je dat de oudere kinderen niet echt wat te doen rondom het hotel. Dat zou echt een aanwinst zijn. Wij hadden ontbijt erbij. Dit was prima en werd continu aangevuld. Er worden ook wel kleine activiteiten georganiseerd. Hebben wij een keer gebruik van gemaakt . Dit zou iets van comedy zijn, bleek een zangeres. Helaas zat er bijna niemand in de lounge. Het personeel is prima. We hadden informatie gevraagd over de brand in de Cairngorms en wandelingen. Helaas kon het personeel dat op dat moment achter de balie zat ons niet er veel over vertellen. Dat was jammer, lang leve chat gpt dan maar! Al met al prima verblijf gehad. Zoals eerder gezegd is het op zich een prima hotel , maar kan echt een upgrade gebruiken. Omgeving is mooi! Helaas door de branden niet de Cairngorms op geweest. Vanachter het hotel kan je met een paadje ook heel makkelijk de bergen op. Heb je wandeling van ongeveer 2 uur met prachtige uitzichten! Verder is aan te bevelen om naar de working sheepdogs te gaan en naar de Cairngorm rendeer hert. Onvergetelijke momenten!

The swimming pool was great, plenty to keep the family occupied with a slide, steam room, sauna and wave machine.

The building seemed in need of some TLC and the room was quite dusty.

The pool is advertised to have an adults only pool but this is not true. When I entered the pool kids were everywhere so not suitable for adults as advertised. The state of the changing rooms was awful couldn’t walk without mud everywhere. Phoned reception at one point to ask for a new hairdryer as the one in my room wasn’t working and after they said they’d send someone to replace it, no one arrived. Our room was alright but felt unclean and there was a smell of cigarette smoke all up the corridor. Our room was on the ground floor which had large windows out to the car park so meant blinds had to be shut the full time. This would be nicer if there was a big light instead of two lamps. Shower was okay but plug must’ve been blocked as water collected in the bath so it was up to my ankles. Not nice when it doesn’t feel the cleanest to start with. Wouldn’t stay again and would doctorate anyone from spending the price they ask for to stay here. Only acceptable if you have young children and aren’t fussed about your hotel being clean.

Ho trovato scarsi i concierge, poco efficaci sui consigli riguardo consigli per le attività in zona. al check out mi è stata addebitata due volte la spesa della camera, per fortuna prima di lasciare la struttura mi sono accorto di aver pagato due volte e dopo aver contestato l’addebito mi è stato fatto un reso. Un capitolo a parte la pulizia della camera: presso questo hotel la camera viene pulita solo su richiesta esponendo un cartello sulla porta. Tale informazione non ci è stata data all’arrivo dal concierge ma risulta essere scritta su un anonimo cartonato posto sul banco della reception che difficilmente viene letto dall’ospite.

Superior room located right next to push bar entry door which banged all night as other guests moved from main bar area to their rooms or the leisure area. Furnishings in room very dated in particular poor lighting which is needed as room looks right out onto a pathway at the car park. Breakfast was a buffet style - not great, limited choice of food sitting under heat lamps - bread had to go through toaster 3 times to toast. Service in Italian restaurant was poor - lots of staff however only certain staff can take orders, get bill so find yourself asking numerous staff members for same thing! For size of hotel there isnt a lot of choice for dinner / drinks.

The log cabins were nice but very expensive.

Its a weird place that has obviously seen better days. Its a huge resort campus but it felt like a ghost town even on a bank holiday weekend. I was expecting a much more active resort but there wasn't much on offer besides the pool. We stayed in a log cabin for 2 nights and the hotel for 1 night. The log cabin was a lovely escape and I don't have any complaints about that but the hotel is sorely lacking. The whole place had an air of depression hanging over it. It has a lot of potential but it needs some refurbishment and more of a active resort vibe.

Nice peaceful location very friendly staff especially the male reception person when we arrived he went out of his way because of my reduced mobility changed our room to one beside the lift.

Severe lack of information with regard to breakfast price when i booked the hotel through booking.com it was just room only on the site it said it would be £22 extra for 2 breakfasts but night before decided we would decide in the morning about breakfast the reception person when we booked in told us it would be £12 each if we decided to eat in the morning, when we woke we decided to go for breakfast and went to the restaurant and paid by card after breakfast which to be honest was not great as the only hot items were the mushrooms rest was almost cold whilst packing I checked the receipt and was shocked to find we were charged £48 a complete rip off as far as I am concerned on handing room key back in I asked the female reception person about the price she just shrugged her shoulders no apologies or anything and told us we should have booked the night before a total rip off, i have never stayed at macdonald hotels before but we will not be back.

Property needs money spent to bring it up to standard. The blocks look like they belong in a city centre. Massive roof/facia soffit repairs required on the Highland Resort Building. Swimming pool changing facilities had many out of order lockers/booths.

Very warm welcome and fast check, lovely large, comfortable Queen Sized bed, choice of two restaurants to eat in on site. Located within an easy walk from Aviemore Railway Station, which was perfect as we arrived by train from London. Great buffet breakfast in the morning with plenty of freshly prepared items to choose from. Overall excellent hotel highly recommended.
