Un hotel 4 étoiles qui ne fournit pas de bouteille d’eau, une seule serviette de douche, quasiment 2 bouteilles de savon remplies d’eau et aucun accessoires de douche (comparé à d’autres hôtel). Pas de serviette de plage. Équipements très vieux, TV qui ne capte pas certaines chaînes. Le restaurant du matin n’est pas très varié, manque de choix en fruit. Une des réceptionnistes n’était pas agréable. La climatisation qui était très bruyante. Éloigné de la gare.

The room was comfortable, with air conditioning and was kept spotless every day. We had a problem with a leak in the bathroom about mid way through our stay, it was dealt with promptly and repaired. All the staff we dealt with your lovely, very helpful and so professional

Ottima posizione, staf accogliente e disponibile. Pulito e tranquillo. Tutte le camere hanno un balcone con vista mare laterale. Però terrazzo solarium... molto bello! Con panorama su Isola Bella.

Sicuramente, visto il potenziale dell'hotel, serve svecchiamento e ristrutturazione. Manca il frigo in camera e viste le temperature, secondo me necessario.

Vista magnifica dal balcone della camera. La piscina sul tetto era piacevole. Per un 4 stelle, la colazione era buona ma nulla di eccezionale.

In generale, il personale era disponibile (fatta eccezione per una delle receptionist). Le dotazioni, l'arredamento e l'edificio stesso sono di un'altra epoca, fatta eccezione per l'aria condizionata in camera, che è recente.

Everyday it’s like a selection from pasta, salad, risotto, soup (1st course) and 2 types of meat or eggs (2nd course) + potatoes, vegetables and dessert.

We were extremely disappointed with our experience at this hotel. After returning to our room following housekeeping, we discovered that €150 in cash and a pack of cigarettes were missing. We reported the incident immediately, hoping the hotel would investigate. Instead, we were met with a defensive and dismissive attitude. The receptionist immediately questioned whether we had any proof and repeatedly insisted that it was our responsibility to use the in-room safe. When we explained that our room did not have an in-room safe, the staff had to call housekeeping to confirm this. Only then did they change their explanation and say that valuables should have been left in a safe at reception. At no point did anyone appear interested in investigating what had happened. We were not asked for details and no incident report was offered. Instead, we were simply told to go to the police if we wished. The only compensation we received was that the hotel waived the local tourist tax and the charges for drinks we had consumed, amounting to approximately €80. While we appreciated this gesture, it did not address the theft itself or the way our complaint was handled. While we understand that hotels cannot automatically accept responsibility for every reported loss, we expected professionalism, empathy, and a genuine attempt to investigate. Unfortunately, we received none of these. The way our complaint was handled was far more disappointing than the financial loss itself. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend staying here.

Servizi e strutture un po vecchie

Die Lage!! Ist wirklich perfekt, Strände innerhalb vor ein paar Minuten, Seilbahn im 3 Min zu Fuss, Lebensmittelgeschäfte genauso. Die Ausstattung ist vielleicht nicht ganz modern, aber man hat alles was man braucht. An der Rezeption wird Deutsch gesprochen (Vielen Dank nochmals Christina und eine Kollegin mit der Brille und langen Haaren, leider habe ich mir die Name nicht gemerkt).Alle sind sehr nett, hilfsbereit. Ich habe Einzelzimmer gebucht habe ein Doppelzimmer bekommen, mit Klimaanlage und WLAN hat perfekt funktioniert! Zimmer wurde jeden Tag geputzt und man hat jeden Tag frische Handtücher bekommen.

Hotellets största fördel är läget endast ett par minuters promenad till både linbanan och stranden. Det var också välstädat, vilket uppskattades. Frukosten var däremot ganska enkel och endast helt okej, utan något som stack ut. Sammantaget levde hotellet inte riktigt upp till förväntningarna, även om det fungerar för den som främst prioriterar ett bra läge.

Poolområdet var en stor besvikelse, poolen är gammal, sliten och saknar helt utsikt. Den såg inte särskilt inbjudande ut och vi badade inte ens. Sängarna var dessutom extremt hårda. Vi bad om en extra madrass för att göra sängen bekvämare, men fick beskedet att det inte fanns några. Hårfönen kändes också väldigt gammal och blev så varm att man riskerade att bränna sig. Personalen upplevdes inte särskilt serviceinriktad och flera hade svårt att kommunicera på engelska. Vi önskade ett rum högre upp i hotellet och frågade varje dag om det fanns möjlighet att byta, men ingen återkopplade trots att de lovade att göra det. Vi blev kvar på första våningen under hela vistelsen. Hotellet marknadsför tidigare tillgång till strand, men numera erbjuder de endast transport till en samarbetspartner cirka tio minuter utanför Taormina. Hotellet tar 16 euro per person för transport och solstol, trots att en solstol på stranden kostar 12 euro om man bokar direkt. Dessutom är det en hundstrand, vilket är bra att känna till om man inte vill vistas bland hundar. Vi rekommenderar istället stränderna nära hotellet eller Isola Bella. Slutligen bokade hotellet en taxi åt oss och försäkrade att den kunde betalas med kort. När vi kom fram visade det sig att chauffören endast tog kontanter, vilket tvingade oss att leta upp en bankomat mitt i natten. Sammantaget är läget hotellets stora styrka, men servicen, komforten och flera praktiska detaljer gjorde att vistelsen inte levde upp till våra förväntningar.

Estuve en la última habitación. 314.estaba pegada a la salida y entrada de personal, se escuchabala puerta desde temprano, entrando y saliendo. La vista no se apreciaba tanto desde la esquina.

This is a charming hotel in a great area of Taormina, quick beach access and the lift to the main city just around the corner. While this hotel doesn't have 'modern' finishes, the staff is excellent, the price is fair, and the views are amazing. Free breakfast and the pool are just a plus! A great place to explore Taormina from.

The only complaint was cleaning staff begin cleaning the rooms early (7am) and are not shy. We were woken up 2 of the 3 days by the cleaning taking place on the floor above ours.

Hotel staff were lovely, and location was great. I had a double room with partial sea view, I'd say the view was more than partial, it was gorgeous and definitely the highlight of the room/stay. Looking at the pictures of the room, I assumed it would be a double as opposed to two singles and you couldnt move the two beds together. I wouldnt say this hotel is 4 star, the room massively lacks amenities. There isn't a fridge in the room as advertised. No kettle to make a drink and breakfast starts at 7 so if you want a coffee earlier you can't (my worst nightmare personally as I need coffee when I wake up!) The hairdryer doesnt have any power to it... there is body wash but no shampoo/conditioner. I only had breakfast here so can't comment on any other meals but it was good enough to get me going for the day. I didnt spend much time in the room or hotel really, and when I did, I sat on the balcony in my room or slept. Didn't feel too safe leaving my key exposed at reception everytime I went out either. If you're happy with a 3 star then I would recommend this place but if you are actually wanting a 4 star, probably not the best shout... holiday was amazing though so no regrets!! ☺️

Friendly and helpful staff in reception and in the restaurant. A traditional Italian dining experience with a range of food offers. The room was comfortable and quiet with a beautiful view across the bay. Lovely garden, sun terrace and swimming pool.

I liked everything about this hotel. A charming courtyard, friendly helpful staff,lovely room with balcony and seaview. Taormina was easily accessible via a cable car close by.

Overall this a nice hotel in need of investment to bring it into the 21st century. The hotel is located in Taromina Mare, just a short walk from the beach. The main town of Taromina is located above up steap stairs or via the cable car. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Rooms:- The rooms are dated and run down, but are off a good size. Nice storage space is provided. A small balcony, with side-sea views from all rooms. The bathroom needs investment, the shower is weak and very dated. The shower screen was very loose, which put us off using it and we felt touching it would cause it to fall off. So we put up with a wet bathroom everyday. Dining area:- For a four-star hotel the breakfast should be better. Tinned fruit is a no-no for four-star. The coffee was also weak, not the high standard expected in Italy. When you enter the dining room you get shown to your table, higher standards which are not needed when the lower hotel standards let you down. Overall, this could be a good breakfast with better quality produce. The decoration of the place, just like the bar area can only be described as an retirement home. Poor area:- Split on two level; sun deck on on and the swimming pool on the other. The sun deck was of a good size and captures the sun well, being on the roof. It is a nice and quiet, relaxing area. The hotel has a rule of no outside drinks in these areas, but if you want to inforce this a pool bar should be provided, expecting guests to walk to reception, on the ground floor is a stupid idea. Overall, if investment was made, this could be a very good four-star hotel, but until that time, expect three-star.

September 10th-17th 2025. The Ipanema Hotel Taormina, Sicily is a traditional Sicilian Hotel with wood panelling. The rooms are spacious with wardrobe space, dressing table, mirrors, comfy beds. There are plug sockets and lights next to the bed. The bathroom is small but all modern plumbing and good lighting. All rooms have a balcony which has a sea view and the sun all day. They also have air con, a tv and a safe. The doors are locked with a real key. The rooms are cleaned daily with fresh bedding and towels. It has a bar and lots of comfy seating. The pool is rooftop and private (no other hotels look onto it) a sun terrace with lots of sun beds, changing room and toilet. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The hotel is situated just a few minutes walk from the village restaurants, pharmacy and mini market. (You can get freshly made sandwiches and essentials here). Also a few minutes walk there is the cable car to main Taormina town, (€10 return ticket) car rentals (€80 per day) and boat trips. It is also on a bus route. There are no paths on the small road and it is quite hilly but this adds to the traditional feel of being in Sicily. The beautiful Isola Bella is within walking distance with other beaches. Although these are busy pebbled beaches it is great for snorkelling. The views from all of Taormina are beautiful. You can also walk up the many steps to main Taormina town where there are gardens, markets and historical sites. We had an amazing holiday in a beautiful place and were totally satisfied with the lovely Ipanema Hotel.

El hotel parecía de los años 70, tenía encanto, sobre todo la terraza y la pequeña piscina. También la terraza a la entrada del hotel. El desayuno estaba bien. Limpieza. Y buena atención del personal.

Hotellet er slidt, værelser spartansk indrettet uden køleskab, kaffe mv. Ikke til 4 stjerner. Begrænset udvalg i morgenbuffet. Vi fik et værelse på 1 sal, hvor udsigten ikke var så god.

I stayed here last week for a week with Tui with a friend. The staff are lovely and the hotel is in a great location. Stunning views from the balconies but the food is dreadful. We were half board so breakfast and dinner. Breakfast, tinned pineapple and there was some fresh fish but the pasta wasn't even good. There are no kettles or tea and coffee in the rooms and no water and the bar only opens certain times so not lots of options. When asked for a kettle they refused. The pool is okay, not many loungers and if you have mobility issues to get to the pool you have to climb lots of stars. Rooms basic and bathrooms really need updated and walls paper thin so you can hear TVs next door and people talk. Sorry would never want to stay there again.

Stayed for 7 nights with my brother and had a bit of a birthday /holiday. When we got to the hotel we were greeted by a lovely lady at the desk her name is Christine who was so welcoming & had so much knowledge about the local area & places to go & see, her customer service skills were nothing but exceptional. Our rooms were cleaned daily with clean towels & beds were made , housekeeping are so efficient (Thank You ) . Our rooms led out onto balcony’s which were great to sit out on & watch the sun & look out into the sea which was a nice view. The hotel has a lovely roof terrace where we could relax on the sunbeds & soak up the sun which I really enjoyed , and upstairs was a pool where you could cool down & chill. For breakfast we could get juice & hot drinks , pastries , fruits & yogurt. The staff were all very polite. The hotel itself has a traditional charm to it , at the entrance there are seats & swinging chairs where you could relax & there is also a bar. The hotel is situated not far from places to eat & local shops & beaches. The cable cars which run every 15 minutes which take you up into Taormina town which is great for shopping , restaurants & nighlife. I would highly recommend this hotel & if going back to Sicily I would stay again. Thank you for making our stay worthwhile. Katerina x

After reading the reviews I was not expecting this hotel to be as good as it was! It is tired, but spotlessly clean, and in a great location which are the things we as a couple value the most! Every room provides a lateral wonderful view of the sea and has a small balcony. Christina on reception provides excellent advice on trips, restaurants etc and Mario the barman is a wonderful character. The buffet style breakfast is basic and consists of meats, cheeses, bread and pastries and cereals. There is a roof top pool and a sun terrace if you don’t want to go to the beach. The one negative is it can be noisy if you have loud room neighbours so take some earplugs!

It was a bit dated and breakfast was very limited. Also no WiFi in the bedrooms.

A bit outdated hotel but friendly staff, tasty breakfast, good rooms, nice location, great view of the area but a tricky parking situation. There are just a couple of parking lots on the property (back to back), so you need to hand over your keys so the hotel staff can move your car around when needed. Otherwise paid parking is nearby (250 meters) for 25 euros per day. We'd still recommend if the above isn't an issue for you.

Reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Hotel was very clean and tidy. No wifi in the room. No safe in the room. No fridge in room these were reserved for guests to keep medication refrigerated. Plumbing in the room was very noisy; sounded as if there was constant heavy rain beating against the internal wall. Maintenance was carried out on sunbathing terrace for 4 of the 10 days we stayed. This was very noisy and dusty.Balconies were also out of bounds during maintenance. We have no complaints about the staff but the hotel certainly needs money being spent to bring it up to date.

The pool was great for swimming and chilling, I had it to myself first thing in the morning and it was a delight. The view from our room and the rooftop was exceptional, we were able to look directly at the see and the famous beaches below and also look up into the hills. Access to the famous beaches, the Gondola and a handful of restaurants and a great coffee house, plus supermarkets that have literally everything you might need, within 200m on foot. The hotel also offers a shuttle service so their “private” beach for 16EUR (2025) that includes a drink, shuttle service, beach loungers etc. and also here are restaurants, snack bars, lifeguards etc. so everything you need for a great day out :) Staff were friendly and full of information and ready to help organise any type of request.

The breakfast was plentiful but low quality, compared to all of the other food that we consumed over the week. We also did not enjoy the coffee which was a big negative for us as the coffee is usually amazing anywhere you go in Italy.

Świetnie położony hotel, bo i do plaży blisko i do kolejki linowej żeby wjechać na górę, do centrum miasta. Bardzo miła obsługa, bardzo dobre jedzenie, pokój dla jednej osoby trochę mały ale zupełnie wystarczający. Fajny basen na dachu dostępny od rana. Jest co robić.

This is a 2.5 star hotel, although rated as 4 star. No fridge, kettle in the room. And no internet. Location is good. However evening meals are very average for Sicily. Out in the restaurants are far better. Breakfast is OK. Unfortunately the coffee machine makes cappuccino from Nescafé. Not real coffee. There is a damp smell in the hotel. Room is tired and need upgrading. It does not justify the 4 star rating. Reception staff are very nice and helpful. Bar staff does not have a clue about when it says champagne cocktails, they don’t have a champagne in it but prosecco! Since when EU countries mislead the tourist, And get away with it.?

Avoid at all costs This hotel is outdated and depressing. no fridge in the room which is unacceptable for the italian heat, and almost everything feels stuck in the past. Breakfast was terrible: stale, tasteless, and almost no selection. atrocious coffee. Worst of all, one of the waiters (Vincenzo) made me, as a solo female traveler, feel extremely uncomfortable with his inappropriate behavior. Absolutely unacceptable. Stay anywhere else.

Tutte le camere hanno la vista sul mare. Ampia camera,le porzioni della cena molto abbondanti e la qualità del cibo molto apprezzata. Il buffet della colazione era abbastanza fornito,c'erano:cereali,uova sode,briochine,fette biscottate,yogurt,marmellata,burro,frutta sciroppata,frutta fresca,pane da tostare,panini al latte,affettati,pomodori,cetrioli e formaggio. Come bevande l'hotel disponeva di una macchinetta con le classiche bevande da colazione e pure l'acqua calda per il tè; un'altra macchinetta con i succhi di frutta. Per il prezzo che abbiamo pagato,un hotel 4 stelle,va bene cosi. Molto cordiale,preparata e simpatica la receptionist che ci ha accolto e spiegato le attrazioni principali da visitare penso si chiami Cristine.

Camera con mattonelle rotte,lavandino crepato,letto duro con cuscini molto piatti,lo sciacquone del water evidentemente aveva una guarnizione che perdeva e quindi era difficoltoso far scrosciare l'acqua. Non c'era il frigo in camera. L'orario della cena era alle ore 20,un po' tardi secondo me. Il balcone aveva la serratura con chiavistello un po datata e non si chiudeva bene. Forse era una radio quella sulla tastiera del letto,almeno abbiamo dedotto fosse cosi,non funzionante. I bagni del solarium molto sporchi. Musica in sala mentre si mangiava era anni '70/'80, con qualche canzone degli anni nostri ma la playlist alquanto ripetitiva. L'hotel è datato,sarebbe da rimodernare interamente.

Gostei de tudo na hospedagem. Os funcionários são todos muito educados e prestativos. O quarto e o banheiro são espaçosos e o chuveiro é ótimo. Muito próximo a praia e ao teleférico.

Luce nella stanza molto bassa.Porte che sbattevano quando gli altri uscivano dalle loro stanze. Asciuga capelli di quelli vecchi attaccati al muro, vasca doccia con il plexiglas che faceva difficoltà a chiudersi. Pulizia delle stanze Ni.. trovate le lenzuola macchiate e il cuscino che era riposto nell’ armadio pieno di polvere , fatto notare il tutto la signora che si occupava delle pulizie che gentilmente ha rimediato il tutto. Piscina molto trascurata , sdraio vecchie e ombrelloni alcuni rotti. Posto auto non 6 ma è da 5 . Scomodo se vuoi uscire con l’auto perché al ritorno quasi sicuramente non trovi parcheggio da nessuna parte. Se almeno dassero una rinnovata e migliorerebbero la colazione sarebbe molto meglio.

Il personale è stato estremamente gentile e accogliente. La posizione è ideale, a pochi passi dal mare e vicino a ristoranti deliziosi. Inoltre, la funivia che porta al centro di Taormina è molto comoda. Una delle cose che ho apprezzato di più è stata la vista dal terrazzo panoramico: è semplicemente spettacolare! È il luogo perfetto per rilassarsi e godere del panorama. 

Ho soggiornato in questo albergo e purtroppo la mia esperienza è stata deludente. La struttura appare datata, come se fosse rimasta bloccata negli anni '80, senza alcun tentativo di rimodernamento,non è assolutamente un hotel a 4 stelle, manca il frigobar Le tende, i copri letti e i tappeti sono antiquati e contribuiscono a un'atmosfera poco accogliente. Inoltre, all'interno c'è costantemente una fastidiosa puzza di umidità che rende l'ambiente sgrad evole. La colazione è stata un altro punto dolente: la scelta è molto limitata e non rispecchia le aspettative per un soggiorno confortevole. Nel complesso, non consiglio questo albergo a chi cerca un'esperienza piacevole e rinfrescante.

La cuisine juste exceptionelle !!!!!!!

During my stay, I had a very unpleasant and disturbing experience at breakfast. Mr. Santo, who was working there, repeatedly threatened me not to eat too much. He raised his voice at me aggressively and demanded extra money in a rude and intimidating manner. His behavior was completely unprofessional and unacceptable, and it made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe. Instead of enjoying my vacation, I was stressed and upset every morning, and this incident completely ruined my holiday experience. I hope appropriate action will be taken so that no other guest has to go through a similar situation.

My room did have a very small balcony with a view 🌞

Some of the staff at breakfast couldn’t smile, some did, just watched with sour face as if we were going to steal from the very ordinary breakfast! Girls at front desk were lovely 😻

Personalet var rigtig søde

Lokationen var ikke særlig god og alt var overraskende dyrt, både mad og butikker. Selve hotellet var lidt skuffende. Poolområdet var dårligt indrettet med alt for få liggestole og generelt en lidt ufunktionel opbygning. Det virkede ikke gennemtænkt, hvilket gjorde det svært at nyde området fuldt ud. Morgenmaden var desværre også under middel – ikke noget særligt udvalg, og kvaliteten var ikke noget at råbe hurra for.

Christina and Maria on Reception were SO lovely - so helpful and friendly, giving very honest, realistic and helpful information on the area, beaches, restaurants, etc. They were very helpful also in organising taxis.

No fridge in room and Lorenzo, the rather over-attentive waiter. Only one socket near the bed - not ideal if wanting to charge more than one item. My phone ended up being charged in the bathroom.

La posizione dell' hotel è perfetta, di fronte al mare e con la funivia a 50 metri. L' accoglienza è stata splendida così pure la cordialità e gentilezza mostrata dal personale.

La colazione mi ha un po' deluso in quanto sprovvisti di latte senza lattosio o di soia o di avena.

Posizione, convenzione per la spiaggia

L'hotel è descritto come un 4 stelle ma in realtà sono molte meno dato che necessita di sistemazione, sembra quelli anni 70/80. La camera non dispone del frighetto ed il bagno non è finestrato e senza aerazione. Dopo sentire gli scrosci d'acqua sia al mattino presto sia di sera e di notte a qualsiasi ora, abbiamo chiesto alla reception di poterla cambiare o sistemare dato che stavamo lì ancora una settimana. La risposta è stata: le faremo sapere.Il problema non è mai stato risolto e siamo rimasti una settimana con il rumore ininterrotto degli scrosci d'acqua !!! La colazione a buffet è ripetitiva con nessun prodotto tipico locale ma solo prodotti già confezionati. La cena è con menù alla carta. Da rivedere l'orario di inizio cena alle 20, troppo tardi. In poche parole : prezzo alto per il servizio offerto e non lo consiglio

Stylish old world hotel with nice pool area on the roof - good breakfast and helpful staff. Close to cable car up to taormina or steps down to the beach. Lots of food options nearby - good value

Hotel Ipanema is a traditional style hotel. It has wooden panels in reception area with stained glass in, which looks lovely. The reception area has 2 seating areas with sofas and leads to the bar area with further sofa seating areas. These areas remained cool in the heat and WiFi reception found there. There was a lovely outside courtyard with bougainvillea surrounding, to enjoy morning coffee or evening drinks sitting out. The standard bed room was well decorated with fabric curtains, not much room around the bed but other larger rooms available. Large wardrobe with safe and bedside units with drawers. There is a small balcony with wrought iron railings and bistro table and chairs. The double doors to balcony had wooden louvre shutters, so keep closed in room to keep sun out in day. The room had air conditioning. The bathroom was fully tiled with shower, endless hot water, toilet, sink and bidet. All bathroom linen provided and changed daily if required. Most rooms have side view to sea. The dining experience I would describe as relaxed formal. Waiters wear suits/white jackets and evening meals served at your table. There was a choice of 4 starters normally a salad, pasta dish, risotto or soup. Starters are not portioned they are served at your table and large portions given. Usually a choice of 3 mains a fish, meat and vegetarian option ( although veg options limited). I had the fish dish every night- variations on sea bass, sea bream different cooking methods or sauces. All cooked perfectly. Desserts were fresh fruit salad, other fruits, crème caramel and some form of fruit gateaux type cake. Breakfasts were continental style help yourself from salad stuffs, cooked meats, cheese slices, various bread styles, croissants, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts and boiled eggs. Help yourself from machine for hot drinks and they were good. The waiting staff were very attentive without being over fussy. Although formal you could have some banter with them. All other staff very professional and helpful. Would answer questions on where to go and book tickets on your behalf etc. there is a roof terrace with loungers and parasols and after this a further roof terrace up some stairs where the pool is. There are beaches close by but mainly pebbly and private. Lots of steps everywhere! There are public spaces or you can rent sunbeds. The next beach has Isla Bella island you can visit. There is a good bus service from bus station in town and plenty of companies offering excursions. The hotel is 5 minutes walk (no pavements) from the cable car which takes you up to the town of Taormina. Cable car runs until 1.30 am and every 15 mins. I bought a weekly pass around £70. There was plenty to see and explore in the town with its array of beautiful historic buildings and a wide variety of bars and restaurants. I would return to this hotel, it gave me options of beach area but also busy town a cable car ride away.
