County Hotel

Centre of town. Expensive really but nice room in the maze of corridors. There was a party on downstairs but I didn't hear a thing so that was good. Had to leave before breakfast started so can't comment on that.

All good except for noisy neighbours outside the room- not your fault.

Iffy shower hot water.

The facilities of the hotel and the location were perfect for our requirements (close to the railway station and fast trains into London)

The breakfast was amazing. Location is great. Bed was comfortable.

I have stayed at this hotel twice before now but never in the "cottage" this is separate to the main hotel. It was clean and simple but felt like student digs. I would not wish to come back if staying in this part of the hotel. The room was very simple.

Such friendly staff. Free drinking water by check in. Stall running up stairs to make sure we got out the very small lift and opened the outside door. Lovely lounge. Lovely comfortable rooms. Good access for trains, buses, taxis. Site seeing and shopping. Good entertainment.

The accessable room had a step up shower. No hand grips. The shower seat was too big for the shower. The door didn't close. The carer had to mop the floor. Toilet not useful for severly disabled or those unable to stand. Just too low. The lift small but the overall facilities compensated with good food.

Floor was a little dirty, and traffic noise was loud in a morning.

Location was good for where i was working

I had no Hot water in the shower and when I reported it to reception when going for breakfast the rude receptionist started arguing and saying it was my fault and didn't no how to operate the shower. No apology or offer to get some to have a look at it.

Rooms were dated needed modernising

The hotel is in a central location for shoppiong and dining out. Secondly close to the coach and train station. The staff were very pleasant and well trained. The room had everything we needed for a 2 night stay and was very clean. We found the hotel to be good value for money and therefor recommended.

Although there is a lift to the bedrooms there are a few steps which may cause a poblem if someone has a disability.

Food at the restaurant was really good

I'd expect breakfast to be included for £190 a night

Relaxing atmosphere, extremely friendly and helpful staff, clean comfortable room. We enjoyed our evening meal in the bar. Excellent location for access to town and public transport.

The room was boiling, ended up with two fans and still no air flow Stuffy and uncomfortable

Every member of staff were amazing. Attentive and so welcoming. 1 only sugestion if you dont mind me ssying. Out yhr front of yhe Hotel it is a no smoking policy , however everyone was smoking and so cigerette butts were everywhere which is unsightly. My sugestion would be to either make it a requirement that guests bring there own cigerette butt boxes or have some at reception for huests to purchase .

Lovely spacious room! Comfortable bed & had air con during the heat wave which was a massive bonus after a very long day. Location was great & staff friendly. Everything was very clean. We didn’t have any food so can’t comment on that but would definitely stay again!

Location to where I was going, close enough to the city centre, but far enough out not to be impacted by late night noise

Quite a high step into and out of the shower (room 8) - I would suggest some sort of non slip coating on the step into the shower, as it is slippy when getting out

Amazing location.I absolutely recommend this place

Staff went above and beyond to help me out as I am a disabled gentleman. The first night I was there I mistakenly allocated a room which I couldn't get to but the receptionist pulled a rabbit out of the hat to get me an appropriate room so top marks to her.

The coffee maker in my room didn't work and despite me pointing this out it was not fixed.

General public area on ground floor is nice.

Hotel could definitely do with some room upgrades, they are tired and smell old.

The location was fantastic and staff were lovely.

I loved the staff, they were friendly and couldn’t help anymore if they tried. Very clean rooms, spacious and all we needed. The food was outstanding.

Location was perfect for Country Calling. Perfectly sized room, comfortable bed and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Only one bath towel and one hand towel provided even though two adults were stipulated on booking. No bottled water provided in the room. Lack of air conditioning in room. From 7am the next morning lots of vibrations noises from units on flat roof.

First time l had to pay to park

Great staff, lovely reception, restaurant and bar. Easy to find and park. My first stay in one of the annex rooms was comfortable but had a lot of early morning road noise- not so bad as I had tob enough early 😅 2nd stay on one of the hottest days was in the main hotel on the 2nd floor was comfortable but think it was cooler one floor down. All that said I am a fan, they are independent and the staff lovely!

Room was like a sauna. No A/C and one small fan provided.

The hotel is situated in a good location with ample parking. A short walk from the town centre and railway station.

Our stay was on the warmest day of the year. Although the room had a fan it was still very warm as on the top floor. We accept that the weather was unusually hot.

This hotel was lovely and perfect for one night away when attending a festival. The staff were friendly, the rooms were nice and clean. Defiantly recommend.

Heerlijk engels onrbijt. Dichtbij station. Je kon zowel in de pub als restaurant.

Parkeerplaats was ook start/eindstation van rijexamen. Daardoor was het lastig om door de week een plek te vinden. Deze situatie is tijdelijk.

Central, staff friendly, lovely breakfast

Bathroom hot tap was a dribble. Bedroom and communal upstairs areas were dated. We felt it was quite an expensive stay for one night.

It was close to town

We paid for the actual hotel to be then put in a room in the cottage which no eondowa opend it was way too hot. Paid for parking 20 quid paid fpr deposit on a key for the cottage part never got it back. The staff did try to help wirh more fans. But was defo not worth the money i paid when another man paid less for same room.

The room was clean and spacious.

It felt like going through a maze to get from the room to the reception. I think overnight parking and breakfast should be free for staying customers.

booked for my parents to stay for their 64th Wedding anniversary, staff could not have been more incredible at looking after my parents. In the heat wave they ensured they were well catered for and had an amazing stay. afternoon tea was excellent. thank you for making it such a memorable stay x

initially booked in a room with stairs to bathroom. would have been ok but parents in their 90s bit of a hazard. front desk moved them as soon as they were aware of situation.

Wij waren daar met 80+ ouders en hadden gevraagd voor kamer met easy acces/disabbility. We kregen een kamer met laag toilet en onmogelijk om te spoelen, een douchecabine met opstap zonder enige form van beugels. Douchen en toiletgang was zo goed als onmogelijk voor oude mensen die slecht ter been zijn. Ontbijt erg matig, bv geen natural yoghurt, maar wel alles met suiker en vette hap

Badrummet var luftigt och ljust.

Ingen luftkonditionering och fönster mot livligt trafikerade leder. Handdukshängaren i rummet klarade inte handdukarnas vikt.

Very expensive for single night, single room, cramped accommodation, no breakfast. Question the value for money.

Food was good with great staff

Room was poor. Not what I was expecting. Small, hot and could have been cleaner. No drinking water in room.

Location was great and the staff went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable.

Coffee bags in the room

The room was a great size and the bed was very comfy. Good tea and coffee facilities. Staff were very friendly and really helpful. Breakfast was great and really loved the decor in the dining room.

Unfortunately no air conditioning and as we were staying in the heat wave (we're from Northern Ireland and not used to the high temperature) we really would have needed it. There was a big fan which helped but we didn't like to keep it on all night.

Disliked • After breakfast, I told the receptionist that we would be leaving the room at 1:00 pm and that it could be cleaned. Before we left, we also hung the "Please clean my room" sign on the door handle. When we returned from a wedding party at around 11:20 pm, the sign had been turned over to "Please do not disturb." We entered the room and found that it had not been cleaned. The rubbish had not been removed, and the room was left untidy. We were very disappointed, as this should not have happened after we had informed the receptionist and requested that the room be cleaned.

We stayed in room 56 -it was extremely extraordinary hot in bedroom -we requested another room with air conditioning-non available-you should a mini fridge or flask of cold water for room no a/c -we open the window but noise from traffic on motorway -we could not sleep -when I returned to noir room -a man was lying face down on floor -I assisted him to his room -opposite-I had notify reception -was not drunk and not sure if it was the heat -you have no telephone in bedroom -rece0tionist asked the man if needed any help -said no -receptionist said she would check on him again later

My room was on the main road, the noise from 5 am was not ideal. Surely rooms on busy main roads are usually fitted with triple glazing?

I was in a budget room as I was only staying one night. Unfortunately it was in another building right alongside a busy noisy road. Don’t book a budget room.

I liked the location close to rhe city,I could walk to the cathedral in a few moments,the hotel was very nice and the breakfast was super. I will book it again when I visit Chelmsford, the staff were polite and respectful ,all was very nice

The apartment was brilliant. Well furnished and so many little helpful touches such as milk, box of tissues, dishwasher and washing machine tablets. Coffee machine was great and there was a great selection in the tea tray. The Reception staff were super, really helpful and welcoming and went out of their way to help us with our 2 year old granddaughter. The whole hotel had a pleasant feel and we woukd definately stay there again.

The shower was not safe at all with no temperature safe regulation and you could burn as it gets hot to boiling and doesn’t have safety feature to prevent this. Loose fitting on hook and flew off when touched. The shower unit was warped and couldn’t stand on it and not overweight at all. Check in was so late I had to leave and return to check in after the event

Mix up in rooms sorted straight away had to leave day early refund issued moreoless traight away.

Unfortunately in our room 33 the shower isnt workng efficiently and the toilet was so hard to flush you literally had to push the button right in which was hard and it just didnt flush sometimes.

The location is good, facilities are good and the staff were great.

Not a dislike but the single room en-suites are snug to say the least. Not a problem for one night but they are expensive for what they are.

The room was amazing, we took a suite and it exceeded our expectations.

The aircon unit was not the best (it was usually hot during our stay).

Very nice and comfy would stay here again if given the chance x
