Location was ok

Very dirty carpet no air conditioner no intercom, room very small for two too expensive. Fan provided but struggled to get alternate plugging locations. Unable to charge on my own side of the bed as only one side table available.

Very clean but a little dated. The reception staff were amazing!!! They made the stay.

Just could do with a touch up on some paint and decor in the rooms.

Good location, just off A12. Close to where we needed to visit. Excellent dinner at the Orchard! If you choose an executive twin, ask for Room 1 - it is better than the one by extractor fans from kitchen.

Room was rather hot even though "only" 25C outside. Had to use fan all night because can't leave windows open (traffic noise from A12)

Lovely setting, great room comfortable bed, only thing that spoilt it was on the Friday morning I got woke up with the bottles being emptied as my windows were at the back, on the Saturday afternoon the people above me sounded so loud like they were moving furniture and I went to try and get some sleep as had a headache but was too noisy but other than that slept well at night , fabulous breakfast and the restaurant was outstanding Staff friendly and helpful , went for a walk each morning around the area and the grounds were so lovely to sit in and chill Would definitely book here again

Very quiet until next door children and adults stayed then very noisy for a while. When using taps, high pitch whistle heard. Same for when other rooms used water. Just the high pressure(excellent) through disc taps.

There was no Bacon, They said they would cook more, I went up twice every 5 mins and still no bacon. I had to leave.The staff knew could have let me know when it was ready or apologise for it taking too long.

The staff were absolutely brilliant and very polite kind and friendly and everything was done as expected the room we stayed in was lovely and spacious bed very comfortable too and the breakfast was lovely and fresh hot too very good and also child friendly too also location was great very quite as well would recommend this hotel to family and friends and would go back to this place again instead off one night maybe give it a go and stay for a few nights and give the restaurant a go for the evening food

My room had been cancelled, I contacted the hotel to ask about their cancellation policy, they advised I would not get a refund, offered me £40, I did not cancel my booking they also said I had been refunded but no sign of a refund on my card or an email informing me even though they said I did get an email They did however give me a room which I had to pay again while they looked into my situation once head office was back from a 2week leave !!! Girl on buffet told me the sign saying 'gluten free available on request' meant the tray of sandwiches were all gluten free. Obviously they weren't and I had to push her to check. I then received a really nice selection and was impressed. When doing a buffet you should bring up anyone with allergies first as the tongs were all cross contaminated with gluten so I couldn't have anything until a fresh batch was brought out. Too hot, but that's not your fault as I knew no air conditioning when booked.

The room was very hot. It was in the middle of a heat wave, but it was quite unbearable. There was a good fan, but as it hasn’t been on through the day, it was very warm through the night. Breakfast was delicious, but took a long time to come. 25 minutes just to get a small portion of scrambled egg and smoked salmon.

There was plenty of parking available. The gardens were lovely and there was also a resident peacock that came up to my window.

My room was far too hot and overlooked the roof and all the extraction pipework. As there was no air conditioning and only provided with a fan that didn’t oscillate I kept the window open which meant I could hear everything from outside. It was noisy and very hot. A difficult nights sleep.

The room was a good size, clean and, comfortable bed and good shower. The price was reasonable as well and there was onsite free parking.

The room had a few minor repairs needed like a broken drawer on chest and bathroom door warping at the bottom. The food was good in the restaurant but the main issue seemed to be the miscommunication amongst restaurant staff which resulted in food or drinks either arriving late or not at all. We weren't the only diners who experienced this. They did reduce the bill though because of the mixup. In their guest room information they stated they didn't provide breakfast, only for us to discover when checking out that they did. But we had decided to get going at this point.

Seems dated, room scruffy with marks on the wall, no air on, mold in bathroom, shower wouldn’t stay at temperature, no breakfast buffet, had to wait 40 mins for a small cooked breakfast with a fully hard fried egg. Ask for a runny egg….im still waiting. The sandwich I had in the evening was very good.

The staff and location was perfect there was a free car park easy check in and out staff was happy to get us a drink from the bar when we got back in after the festival about 1am! Room was good size well presented and very comfortable the bed was sublime!

Nothing really for me I'd have liked to have a mini conditioner in the bathroom to pair with the mini shampoo and body wash room was super hot (not their fault it was almost 40° heat in the UK!!) and they did provide a fan

Receptionist was very professional , friendly and accommodating. She was able to get our room available early so we could change prior to a wedding rather than in the hotel wash rooms.

It was extremely hot and whilst there was a fan in our room, the dorma windows were not open, i requested that this been done whilst we were out as there was no pole in the room, when we returned just before midnight they were closed, the room was stifling! Breakfast was plated option so very little choice, although a good breakfast, service was slow.

They cancelled my booking. Didnt give me an oppotruinity to change my card. Left me stranded at a wedding 2 hours from home. Even though the room was empty and i had the money ready. Staff was rude on the phone. Even though the room was empty, just kept saying it was too late. Wouldnt let me rebook the empty room. Never will i bother booking with them again.

We had a breakfast which was included with our room but we were very disappointed as there was not options on the cooked breakfast it was all plated up and the fried egg was really hard with no option for scrambled or poached which I think was very poor also there was no bowl of chopped fresh fruit and yogurt and the salmon and cream cheese was empty so it was all very poor and not worth the £ 16 that was charged.

The hotel had good parking and a decent sized restaurant with good food choices. The staff were very friendly on check in and helpful with providing invoices etc.

The overall feel was a little dated, and the rooms felt like they needed a good refurb. They were pleasant enough and clean, but definitely felt dated.

The room was very cramped for an accessible room. My daughter couldn’t get to the lowest bed which was furthest away without complete help. Also my daughter is a full time wheelchair user. And couldn’t access the shower. She was able to reach the sink to brush teeth but wheelchair got stuck in doorway.

No climate control in the room. I was freezing, spoke to the reception they they advised me to plug in a heater that's in a cupboard. I did, it was noisy all night like fan heaters are. Broken tap in the bathroom. Charge for staff to bring any food or drinks to my room (approx 20m from the bar to my room)

De bedden waren goed, de kamer was schoon en het ontbijt konden we in een mooie serre eten. Er was een klein buffet en de mogelijkheid om iets a la carte te bestellen. Prima ontbijt. In de buurt liggen een paar mooie dorpjes om te bezoeken en ook Chelmsford biedt van alles, zoals een leuk museum en de mooie landschapstuin van Hylands Estate Park.

Er was geen airco in de kamer en het was op dat moment erg heet. Er was wel een ventilator, maar dat helpt niet zo goed als airco tijdens een hittegolf. Ook ontbrak een minibar/koelkastje. We hadden verwacht op een landelijke locatie terecht te komen, maar het hotel ligt naast een snelweg. Wel makkelijk aan te rijden, maar in de tuin hoor je de weg behoorlijk. Het is een prima hotel, maar voor een 'signature collection hotel' en de prijs hadden we iets bijzonderders verwacht. Een boetiekhotel vonden we het niet.

Reasonable size rooms, would've been a lovely hotel in the 90's.

Main issue is they said no extra charge for infants but then force you to upgrade your room to one "big enough for a cot" and then put up a fight when you ask to bring your own. In addition to this my in laws had to move rooms twice, once due to a poor mattress then when moved to the bridal suit the shower exploded (literally, the panel came off the wall and my father in law had to hold it in place to turn the water off). I've been told to expect a call from the manager to discuss the stay but he's already a day late on when I was told to expect a call

The hotel looks great from the outside on arrival and doesn't disappoint once inside...Check in was easy & quick & the staff friendly & efficient... The room was excellent....clean & well appointed...comfortable bed..good TV & Tea & Coffee making facilities... Bartella's restaurant has a good choice of meals & the quality is very good...The bar is comfortable & well stocked...The grounds are well kept & attractive.. Oh.....and the breakfast is superb!.... Overall this is a great hotel... I have stayed in many in this area & the Ivy Hill is by far the best.... I will certainly stay here again when travelling in this area...

The only small points I'd say that could be improved would be the room safe to be replaced for one that is big enough to take a laptop....and possibly a small fridge with a bottle of complimentary water...But they are minor points..

Breakfast was plentiful and varied and catered for most tastes. The room was clean and comfortable, likewise the bathroom, in fact the entire hotel was clean and tidy given the amount of maintenance hotels require. Can’t write my likes without mentioning the staff who were very pleasant and helpful. All in all a very good hotel which I will not only be returning to, but will be recommending to others.

Not so much a dislike but a slight disappointment that the breakfast although very good, was not really kept very hot in their containers and was only warm not hot.

We had early morning wake-up calls each morning by a peacock outside our bedroom window! Very pretty bird but struggled to get back to sleep again. There was also a power cut when we first arrived, so we were given torches, then middle of night a generator came, so bedroom light came on waking us up. Peacock woke us again not long after! Not hotel’s fault though really.

I came on my own husband was ill.To hot in room had window open from when i arrived, breakfast room too hot. Breakfast eggs rubbery, ashbrowns cold, Booked on web site...said insurance and breakfast included ticked ground floor as have disabilitys. Was told at breakfast there was a charge and room on first floor. When checking out told them breakfast was included and should of been ground floor...never charged me for breakfast (didnt each much as rubbery and cold)and they apologised about room, they wasn't informed. Bar staff wasn't knowledgeable about teas and coffee to purchase. Bits of decor needs doing in places. I would of booked direct with hotel but charge for insurance for cancellation fee £40.00 think that is excessive as people dont cancel unless a very good reason. I said I was with 70th birthday party who paid £130 including breakfast I paid £145 ok cancellation cover but they said no breakfast included...I stayed before few years back...didnt have any problems.

Het is er netjes en schoon. Personeel heel erg vriendelijk. Bedden zijn prima. Contact vooraf is ook heel goed.

We zijn er vaker geweest en toen was alles perfect, daarom viel t nu een beetje tegen omdat we geen koffie en thee op kamer konden drinken, er was maar 1 handdoek voor 2 personen. En de douche was vreselijk. Heel Klein straaltje uit kleine douche en die kon je niet ophangen. Regendouche was alleen maar koud (of wij snappen het niet😀) Verder perfect!

Reception staff very ignorant and manager requested. Was told they would call back but never did. Don’t trust them they let you book and pay but if you haven’t brought the card with you they turn you away even though they have full pre authorisation. This was paid by a company card and guaranteed.

The room was spacious with everything in it to enjoy a weekend getaway, very clean with modern design. At Breakfast you were spoilt for choice with everything fresh & cooked to order if you wanted that little extra.
