The Westin Beijing Chaoyang

I am currently staying at this property and was quite quiet when I checked in. The Hotel will close this Saturday, March 14th, for an extensive renovation. I was told Westin will not be the operator when it reopens but still a Bonvoy property. There was literally no one at the check in desk or any living person in the lobby when I walked in the door yesterday. A person did pop out beyond the wall as I got closer. She checked me in and upgraded me to a one bedroom suite on the 9th floor as a Bonvoy Titanium member. The room was clean and stocked. A welcome fruit platter and free sodas and beer were offered. They did a turn down service that evening The lounge on the 32nd floor is closed so they were using the restaurant on the 2nd floor. Breakfast , the next morning was surreal . I was the only person, besides the servers, in the vast restaurant . I was provided a paper menus with a Chinese/Western options. No buffet was offered, which is understandable. The server told me I was the only person to shown up this morning. They provided all the services to me and besides the restaurant breakfast , everything was being run as a full service Westin property.

Mes bagages déposés à la conciergerie ont été égarés. Attente d’une heure pour les retrouver dans le stress. Le personnel de la conciergerie ne parlant pas bien anglais. Hôtel 5 étoiles !!! Temps d’attente très long pour le Check In, pas assez de personnel de disponible aux différents comptoirs

Had a business trip to Beijing, i stayed in this area many times at the Hilton on the other side of the street. This hotel is a better location wise at its basically on top of the metro entrance / exit. Else i would use google maps etc to see anything else, hotels cant move or change what is near by :). Check-in experience was really disappointing for a hotel of this quality in Beijing, hardly any of the staff can speak any English on Sunday at 1pm. They kept trying to give excuses until i called a local friend who had to resolve the whole situation. While I was waiting for the friend in the lounge I saw numerous other guests have issues with the lack of English with some choice words being used which I dont think where understood by the staff. Lounge is a nice place, great views and nice atmosphere, breakfast area is really dated. The chairs are damaged, and not one or 2 but nearly everyone. However the selection of food is good. The dated experience spans to the bedroom as well with a musty smell present, but the room did have a nice view. If you dont mind a place thats feeling its age then its ok, else go across the street if you want this area.

Good location, just above a MTR station that goes through line 10, with easy transfers to major shopping or attractions. One can also use the same line to reach the Daxing airport or the airport rail. Customer service was great, attending to requests and keeping the area clean as per Marriott standard. Like how the attendants are thoughtful to details and cleanliness too. Breakfast was a good spread with a mix of American, Chinese and Japanese. One good part compared to many hotels of the same tier is the space, where you won’t be short of seats. Lastly, love the spaciousness of the gym which separates the cardio and strength training area.

Great hotel with astonishing entrance and cool bar. Room was amazing and massive with a view all over Beijing. Staff was very nice. Highly recommend it

The rooms were modern, spacious, and very comfortable. The breakfast offered a great variety with something for everyone. The gym was excellent, fully equipped with everything needed, and I even noticed a training class during my stay. Guests could also choose between a steam sauna and a dry sauna, and I especially appreciated the dry sauna

We liked it was somewhat near the airport and breakfast was very good. But beware, they wanted to charge us 900 CNY for a airport shuttle, while a taxi only cost us 47 CNY!! nearly 20 times as much!! The room was very large and the bathroom was good as well. Breakfast was also really good, highly recommend you include it in your booking. Staff knew basic English and also offer possibility to drop off luggage.

The staff asked for a deposit as well, of 800 CNY. This was not communicated beforehand neither was it on Booking website which made check-in uncomfortable. They ridiculously over charge you for airport shuttle, please just book a taxi yourself. Also laundry service is ridiculously overpriced. For the amount they charge I can buy new clothes for less. We really expected more from a '5 star hotel' whose rooms were one of the most expensive in the area.

Terrible check-in experience

As a titanium Marriott Bonvoy member, on checkin, I was upgraded to a larger premium suite with a king bed and complimentary access to the executive lounge. Sleep quality of the bed is excellent and bathroom facilities large and nice. All staff members I interacted with were attentive m, friendly and helpful.

An old but grand hotel. Check in was ok, and they did provide an upgrade which i appreciate The suite was good, but had an odd phone in the living room that always went to AI when i used it. So i just used the bedroom one instead The gym also had a treadmill that stopped in the middle of my run Wrote a seperate review for breakfast restaurant

Staff was considerate about making up for an uncommonly long delayed check in process (3+hrs). That really was unfortunate. Otherwise our stay was great. Easy location. Nice big rooms. We'll be back!

Location is good, just beside the subway station. Not far from CBD area and Sanlitun. Breakfast is quite good.

The hotel is abit old, there is a smoky smell in the room, can see mold on the ceiling and aircon blower, and the carpet is dusty. I tried to use the bath tub and there is a smell coming from the water pipe.

I did not find the staff particularly kind or helpful. Everyone acted a bit put upon when you asked for assistance, and they did not seem to be enjoying their jobs. One exception: the doormen.

Request a renovated room. Very convenient location next to the Liangma Qiao subway station. Lots of good restaurants in the hotel and with 1,000 metres. The staff members are friendly, attentive, and helpful. The concierge team provides excellent guidance on how to get around town and to specific locations.

The breakfast buffet offers a variety of options. The room is spacious and clean.

The staff is very nice. Rooms are big. Even if it’s 8kms from center with traffic it ends up being 40 minutes taxi.

The Westin is my go-to hotel every time I am in Beijing. The service is excellent and everyone is very friendly. I was especially impressed by the cleaning people who kept our room in immaculate condition and made sure we had all we need for a very pleasant stay. I should say The Westin holds a special place in my heart as I met my future wife there and a stay for us is a trip down memory lane. Thank you to all the staff for making Westin the best hotel in Beijing!

y wife and I stayed at the Westin Beijing Chaoyang from April 10 to April 14, 2025. We checked into the hotel at 7:30 PM on our first day in Beijing. Upon our arrival, we approached the staff at the restaurant on the second floor, which serves breakfast, as well as the front desk staff, to ask for recommendations for nearby restaurants for a late dinner. We were quite disappointed when they responded that they had no information to offer, and they did so in a rather cold manner. Having worked as hotel employees at the Westin in Singapore in 1986, we still remember how much the hotel emphasized the importance of service during our orientation. They instilled in us the belief that "people make a difference" when it comes to hospitality. It was surprising to see how the level of service at the Westin has diminished, as it no longer seems to prioritize the needs of its guests. On a positive note, the housekeeping team was outstanding. They cleaned our room quickly and provided plenty of water and toiletries. I went for a walk after they cleaned my room and returned to find everything spotless again!

As a Marriott Bonvoy member with 500+ nights, I’ve never experienced service this bad. The staff at the Westin Chaoyang repeatedly failed to honor promises, ignored requests, and even told me to go elsewhere when I raised concerns. Staff were indifferent and basic service was nonexistent. A complete embarrassment to the Marriott brand - avoid this hotel.

Hotel is well located but the rooms are in need of a refresh as carpets and furniture appear worn out and not so clean. The breakfast buffet has recently been renovated and offered a good spread.

An excellent hotel at an excellent location!!! Tower-like, very spacious, with nice rooms and attached bathrooms. TV, phone, hot water kettle, ironing table, safe lockers and more.... are available. Housekeeping prompt and responding, hospitality top notch, staff polite and ......more. The restaurants are nicely located, the food is very good, Both continental and Chinese. Rooms are clean, linen clean, bathrooms are with all basic amenities!!! more positives , can't find any shortcomings for me. the view from my room 1128 is awesome. 5 ⭐

I liked the breakfast and the aesthetic of the hotel, the location good but you need the taxi to go anywhere around the city

I would have appreciated a small swimming pool for the children, a better English speaking staff as the service was very poor.

wifi is at best very unstable, most times so slow that it was unusable and i had to rely on my phone's hotspot.

This is the first hotel which I need to stay so long - 8D7N. Hence I read the reviews carefully when I was deciding which hotel to book. My family and I were very pleased to have stayed in Westin Chao Yang. The staff we met were all very polite and helpful. The family deluxe room has two queen size beds. I could loan amenities such as a fan, a humidifier and different types of pillows and I could adjust the temperature for a comfortable sleep at night. The pool was heated to 28 degrees and it is 1.2m to 1.5 m deep with a life guard. There are also hot and cold "spring water", steam and sauna rooms in the female restroom with shower rooms and lockers. I did not order breakfast and asked hotel concierge for help for direction to places for breakfast and buying local products. It is easy to get transport around through DiDi. The hotel is currently doing some maintenance work but noise is bearable. I will definitely like to stay in this hotel if I visit Beijing again.

Our stay at The Westin Beijing was wonderful. The hotel boasts a fantastic location with easy access to many of the city's top attractions. The housekeeping team did an outstanding job, ensuring our room was spotless and comfortable every day. The room service was prompt and attentive, making our experience even more enjoyable. We would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to returning on our next visit to Beijing!

The room is spacious with remote controlled electric window curtains. Room is clean and comfortable. Breakfast is very good with varieties of western and Chinese foods.

The receptionist in the front desk was lack of training. Check-in process was taken very long, at least half an hour. The location is little far away from city center.

Breakfast might have been the highlight of our stay.

I was supposed to book your hotel in the financial district. Bookings.com told me there was only one Westin in Beijing. We had to go through security check each time entering the lobby. Not to mention parking the vehicle in the hotel parking lot.

Very clean facilities, housekeeping staff made the rooms lovely every day. Hotel is located in central Chaoyang so within walking distance to most major areas, and only a short distance from major attractions.

We ordered room service a few times, everything on the menu was severely overpriced for the quality, every time arrived cold and soggy. You could easily walk 5 minutes out of the hotel to any restaurant or a 7 eleven and get a better quality meal.

Breakfast is very good, and the spanish restaurant on the premise was amazing.

I did not find the area interesting in any way for walking around.

The hotel looks a bit old

In one word: Old. In two words: very old. Once you walk in to the room you can feel going back to the early 2000’s.. old dark wood design. Old heavy dirty carpets. The reception stuff are good, and trying to help. They gave me early check in and try to help when the room next door kids were so noisy late night. The noise isolation is very poor, even with two doors between us, it felt like we are in the same room. Only after 30 min of chatting with the hotel on the bonvoy app they finally send someone to knock on the neighbors door and ask for quiet.. 23:00 at night… The club is big with nice view of the city, but it definitely not have enough stuff, you have to wait for waiters and for refill of the food in breakfast. I came to eat at 9am and all the serving dishes almost empty, need to ask them to refill it. The food choice is way below Westin standards. The chairs there need replacement and the earlier the better. Mrs youmi in the check out was very nice and helpful. But it’s not enough. We will not come again to stay here. In a city with million hotels you need to be worth the money. Westin Chaoyang definitely not worth 170$ per night.

Well located for business with a major subway line nearby and rapid connection to the airport train line. Also easy access to highways to get to the business district. A bit far from city center , tourist attractions and authentic dining options. Hotel has a convenient Starbucks option next door for breakfast as the cost for impromptus breakfast at the hotel is outrageous.

Beautiful, spacious lobby. As a titanium member with Marriott, I went to the executive lounge to check in. I was upgrade to a large corner suite on the executive lounge floor. All was great. Lounge staff members were very attentive and helpful.

Stayed in the hotel for five nights. Spoken to the front desk that I would like to have the same type of room because I went to gubei after first two nights. When I checked in after gubei the front desk just being ignorant and telling me that the hotel was in high demand.
