The size of our room and bathroom was amazing. There are several lovely lounges with fireplaces. The only meals we had were breakfast and that was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We did not like the carpets.

We liked the manor house experience. Elegant settings in the room and dinning room. We enjoy an excellent birthday dinner for a member of our party. The staff were very attentive and helpful.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The garden beautiful and well kept. I appreciated the beautiful furniture and setting of the house. I felt very safe when coming home late at night.

There is not much that I think can be done better. It was not my first time making use of the accommodation it I was not disappointed.

Dinner was amazing, generous portions. The staff was so kind to me, wrote me cute little notes in the morning. The bed was comfortable, oohh the bathroom was amazing. Please, the beds need an eletric blanket. They also gave me extra rusks which were to die for, homemade. Overall an amazing place to relax. The staff was very welcoming and accommodative.

I was a bit disappointed with the cleaning, when I left the guesthouse for a few hours, I noticed the floors weren't vacuumed properly in the room and the bed wasn't crisp.

Both breakfast and dinner were fantastic, the rooms are large and beautifully furnished and nothing was too much for the staff who were friendly and accomodating.

The garden was lovely and so were the balconies but the presence of monkeys was unexpected - their presence meant we couldn’t really enjoy these lovely features f the property much.

Haben beim Abendessen eine extra glutenfreie Karte bekommen, mussten früh zum Flughafen und haben extra ein eingepacktes Frühstück (auch glutenfrei) bekommen. Das Personal war sehr nett

Den angebotenen Flughafentransfer für 450 R fanden wir sehr teuer und haben daher ein erheblich preisgünstigeres vorbestelltes Uber genommen.

Old-warm hospitality, charm & style throughout the entire place. Was allocated the Madiba room, which has so many awesome features: the four-poster bed, gigantic bathroom, ball & claw bath, sun-soaked balcony...the list goes on & on. Lovely breakfast spread was laid down in the morning. Will definitely return in future for Hacklewood's high tea and dinner offering.

Muffiger Geschmack im gesamten Haus, infolge Feuchtigkeit. Grenzwertiges Ausblick aus den Zimmerfenstern in Vorhof mit grossen Tanks, Schöpfen, Müll und aufgehängter Wäsche. Hätte hier ein anderes Umfeld erwartet.

Their property, the place & all the structure of this property is absolutely magical & historical. Highly recommend to anybody visiting the area. The Staff did their best to accommodate us and also highly recommend their dinner, great options and such a good fine dining experience overall.

Nothing was negative. I might only say that this is an older/classical property, so guests can expect that a few of the bedroom functions might not be as new as they would like.

Some of the decor needs attention. Pool clearly needs attention and a good clean. Breakfast service was a little slow.

What a wonderful gem of a place, close to the airport, yet quiet and peaceful. The house was built in the 1800’s but has been well maintained and the quality of everything, from the Lavazzo coffee machine to the crisp bedding, was top tier. The service was outstanding too and we decided to have the dinner, which was tasty and satisfying. The hosts were professional and went the extra mile to organise us an early breakfast.

We verbleven er de dag voor onze terugvlucht, ligging is geweldig: in een rustige wijk, omringd door groen en toch maar een paar minuten rijden van vliegveld vandaan. Een prachtige oude villa met liefde en zorg ingericht also het zo uit de Britse Country and Living komt. Super comfortabel en als kers op de taart een resraurant waar wij heerlijk hebben gedineerd.

Helaas zag het zwembad er niet schoon uit ( troebel water en debris erin ) en waren er wel erg veel muggen buiten, denk doordat de tuin continue gesproeid werd.

The room was very pleasant and had everything you needed and good bed linen etc. The house itself, decor, was beautiful. Dinner was delicious, the first two courses were excellent, dessert not so good. Paul was very willing. Brenda greeted us nicely and gave us all the info we needed.

The room was fine but not the soundproofing! With the old wooden floors, when people walked above you could really hear it, plus a lot of other things that would be indelicate to mention, concerning the bed above! It went on all afternoon, but luckily I was watching the rugby on the TV and my OH had his headphones on, otherwise we would have had to complain! So next time we shall have a first floor room. The breakfast was fine for one of us, but a DISASTER for the other. The other one had asked for soft poached eggs which turned out be like golf balls, just as hard. The blinis were not blinis, just very very thick slices of brown bread … not good enough. Not worth reordering as it took a long time to arrive initially. The green decoration on my cold meat and cheese plate was pretty dead. I could see that the previous nights chef was not on duty as she wouldn’t have sent the food out like that. Presumably there was no one there checking things.

Second visit, and still as special, a step back in time, will be back!

If you like dipping your toe into "yesteryear" and getting an idea of what life might have been like for the well-to-do in the early 20th Century (at least in the colonial era), then this is the place. Carefully preserved with meticulous attention to detail, this place feels more like a home than a hotel. Nestled into its own modest but private gardens with a majestic pool, there is little sense of the city beyond the walls. A beautiful hideaway. The dinner experience was similarly exquisite, with a real sense of being spoilt by both the opulence, and the quiet, efficient attention. Thanks, Nassor.

We loved the slightly antiquated locks and bolts, the original balcony and verandah. It's not supposed to look new and gleaming. Others may say some things look 'tired'. We thought it made the place authentic.
