TBH its not worthy.. we spend almost thousand for poor facilities.. during our visit pool for off.. maintenance was done for 3 days.. the whole 3 days only swim at the pool bar.. the beach also have jellyfish which im not sure os it really safe to bring kids or not.. the room was ok.. but we can see all the equipments are old.. kids room are the most disappointing part.. not safe for the kids..

The location, the rooms, the beaches, the swimming pools are all lovely.

The breakfast was quite pricey for kids and little variation. Felt a bit uncomfortable when other guests were waiting beside the table as there were no more seats vacant. The landscape need booster. Both rooms experienced locked outside n the cards were defect/ couldn’t open.

It is located near the beach and the room is big.

The upkeep of the room falls short of what is expected in a five-star property. The ceramic floor tiles are not cleaned and I wonder if they vacuum the floor before the next guests check-in, or clean the dusty lamps or the toilet and walls. Looks like the toilet wall has not been cleaned for years. Attached one picture I took of the TV control holder to see the dust collected on it. I won't stay in this resort if I decide to go Desaru again. The star rating of the resort would be audited seriously.

Size of the room

Breakfast spread was limited and not refilled for more than 30mins. Spa is under maintenance The pool was dirty especially the one near the bar. Weird smell inside the room. Convenient shop was left unattended and close most of the time. Sports centre is underwhelming need to go outside the hotel to play jetski and other water sports.

I went during the off-peak season. I loved the atmosphere and the food. The facilities were okay, and there were a lot of things to do, but I didn't have a chance to try everything. The staff were friendly.

The beach was amazing and there seems to be plenty of activities for adults but we mainly wanted the pool but it was out of order. We got the duplex family room which was fun for the kids. Breakfast was good with friendly staff. The resort was near Woodfire resturant with amazing food.

Room was okay, size is huge (the reason the air conditioned does not feel that cool), breakfast spread is nice, so many people on weekend but its manageable we love the beach and the pool.

Scary encounter on my 3rd night, we just came back from the beach, still rushing to clean ourselves, at 7.45pm, suddenly the housekeeping staff (a guy) enter our room without ringing the bell or knock, I was just out of the bathroom in towel and he saw me. I shouted, when my husband chase the staff, he said sorry. It was clear that there had been no proper communication regarding the housekeeping schedule or room entry. We raised the matter with the front office, but unfortunately, the response was disappointing. When I asked, 'What if I was undressed?', the staff actually laughed. There was no proper apology, explanation, or follow-up from the front office. This was a serious privacy and security concern, and the hotel should take such incidents much more seriously. Other than that, we were given a garden view room (Room 128), which was supposed to have direct access to the beach through the gate outside the room. However, the wooden gate was damaged and could not be used, so we had to use the main room entrance instead. Room 128 — please avoid this room until the gate is properly repaired. Overall, the housekeeping incident was the most concerning part of our stay, and the lack of an appropriate response from the front office made the experience even more disappointing.

Couple Suite (single storey) was still spacious even though with an extra bed and spacious toilet too. Soaking in the bathtub at balcony at nite under the dim light enjoying soothing sound of sea breeze was so relaxing and rejuvenating after a long drive. What an experience!

Children/Elderly has to mind their steps when climbing the narrow staircases (with one side railing only) to the bedroom in the double storey Couple Suite because of the dim & limited lightings in the suite. Suggestions: perhaps install another staircase railing for another hand to hold while climbing/descending, brighter yellow lights too & anti-slip protectors to the slippery steps to prevent fall/injury to guests on vacation at your nice resort. Otherwise, all 👍

Check in was horrendous. Slow manage after 90 minutes. There are no explanatio on situation and there are no cross checking on reservation can be made. It spoiled the welcome.

Tiada proper place untuk turun ke laut. Nak turun ke laut tu kena pijak pasir yang tinggi, bahaya utk kanak-kanak, nak naik kena daki pasir tinggi. You should do better sand & sandals. Pintu dekat tandas nak tercabut, bahaya pada pengguna. Receptionist bagi harga bilik salah, dah nak check out suruh bayar lagi. Manager dtg takde minta maaf, terus explain je. Very rude. Mungkin first and last datang.

There was double booking cases. Many guest were forced to cancel and go back home. For me and family waited for 3hours to get checked in and lucky room was given. Unlucky guest was turned down and had to left the place. Overbooking is big No No for a hotel. Breakfast was insufficient, dirty tables and tables if also hard to get. Balance food we got was bad also. Room service was told not available before 12am which is weird. Dont come here.

The only thing yg i mcm x berapa suka is the blanket bit smelly for me,but maybe i yg cerewet sikit. then lantai dlm bilik bit licin esp when u keluar dari bathroom.. the i know hotel ni lama,tp mybe ur guys boleh do something about the lighting and should consider to upgrade tv channel o just used netflix. but overall for short stay,it still consider the nice one.

Location is great. Easy to access and to get to Central of Desaru Resort is well upkept. Room is spacious, clean and well maintained.

Room is clean and comfortable, though the lighting is slightly dim. Quite a distance to walk from lobby to room especially if you children or elderly parents.

Some areas to improve: Lobby a bit warm while having to wait for your turn to check-in/out. Suggest to put standing fan or welcome drinks for the guests to cool off. The resort should consider investing on wheelchairs & strollers for guests in case of unforeseen circumstances.

Maintenance is required. Spa, Club lounge, Kids movie theater and water activities are closed. Video games - some are working and some are not.

Lots of facilities like gym, cafe, kids playroom, pool, park, private beach, and game room. The staff is also very helpful.

The gate connecting our room to the beach is broken. So, we can’t lock it.

1) Poor parking management during an event. As paying hotel guests, I expected better parking arrangements and priority for in house guests. 2) strong urine smell around the swimming pool area. This was not one-time occurrence. 3) breakfast was disappointing and not worth it

Big room with a sofa bed, so no need to rent an extra bed. I took a ground floor room with a private garden, very convenient, especially for the kids to play and go in and out of the pool easily. They had so much fun swimming, then coming back to the room to rest and eat before heading back to the pool again. A really nice and relaxing holiday for my kids. Great family stay

Facilities were old. There were mosquitoes in most places. Requested for interconnecting rooms but was not granted. Requested for change of battery for room safe and Requested for water as part of make up room, but both were in vain. Price was high considering the state of the resort.

I waited 2 hours for check in, their reason was previous guest request for late check out, then delayed the room cleaning. But 2 hours waiting with kids, it's really frustrated. Booked for a garden view but I got it with very limited view, 30% only at the end of garden, 70% jungle view.. Better to book sea view for next time. Small lift, waited longer for peak hour.

Outside the room, there were dry leaves that were not swept, which made the area look unclean. The extra bed was rusty, and the underside of the mattress had torn and worn-out fabric. There were also monkeys trying to get into our room, which made the stay feel less safe and uncomfortable. At the breakfast area, the food selection was not as wide as it used to be (I have stayed here two times before). Also, when items ran out, they were not refilled quickly, which was quite disappointing.

Spacious room, great bed, spacious bathroom, good pool for kids, beachfront location.

The place is not well-maintained. The overall property looks terribly old, even though the hotel was inaugurated in 2018, according to the plaque in the reception. Things are rusty and broken. There is zero structure at the beach, not even a single beach chair or umbrella. The beach itself is totally dirty and full of rubbish.

The hotel is lovely. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Love having the large bathtub on the balcony and the rain showers. The hotel pool is very large with a deeper section for adults to swim laps comfortably while the children play on the other side. The beach is also lovely this time of year and beautiful sunrises. The food at the in-house teppanyaki restaurant was really good.

Not 5-Star Hotel standard which is surprising considering the rates they charge. We went on a very busy weekend so the staff were struggling. Service at the restaurant was very slow because they were hosting a huge event. Some of them weren't very helpful at all with troubleshooting issues our room had on the first day. It was so frustrating for us to the point we were deemed 'difficult' guests by the staff. However the Executive Assistant Manager came to speak to us and was very kind and apologetic. He's a good man. But we avoided asking for any help from any of the staff for the remainder of our stay just because of our experience on the first day. Also the balcony wasn't clean. So to enjoy the tub and bench, we had to clean it ourselves. I'm very disappointed because although I know that their staff were stretched thin due to being fully booked, plus having the huge event that first night, as paying guests (weekend+public holiday rates no less!) basic courtesy isn't too much to ask for.

There were events happening during our stay. During dinner the hotel seem short staffed, ending us having to go outside for dinner. During breakfast, tablewares were not cleared as soon as possible, probably due to staff shortage as well, making guests waiting for table to have their breakfast.

I had a very disappointing overall experience at Sand & Sandals Desaru Beach Resort & Spa. The stay started off poorly with an extremely slow check-in process—almost one hour just to queue. After a long journey, this was exhausting. At the very least, the resort could have considered simple hospitality gestures like offering a welcome drink while guests wait. Unfortunately, there was no such effort. Even though I had all my check-in documents ready, the process at the reception was still painfully slow and inefficient. Things didn’t improve upon entering the room. While the room itself was quite spacious, there was a strong unpleasant odour, similar to a toilet drain smell. It really affected the comfort of the stay and overshadowed any positives about the room. Breakfast was where the experience hit its lowest point. The restaurant was overcrowded and clearly understaffed. Plates and utensils ran out, and there was little to no staff presence to manage the situation or assist guests. We had to wait around 30 minutes just to find a table, and even then, it felt chaotic and disorganized. For a resort of this scale, this level of service is simply unacceptable. To be fair, the location is great, but unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The overall service and guest management fell far below expectations. With better planning, staffing, and attention to basic hospitality standards, this place could be much better—but in its current state, it was a very frustrating experience.

The good part Staff is friendly. We like the room. Other facilities are satisfactory. Need to improve Check in is slow Breakfast coffee is not hot. Same as when I came 3 years ago. Breakfast food serving is slow. Already start breakfast time and many food tray still empty. At the reception no staff there to take our room number, we just go in and eat only. The staff is busy help to serve food. Apparently the manpower is not enough for breakfast preparation. This is still not improve compare 3 years ago.

We stayed at this hotel with high expectations, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing overall. Positives: The staff were attentive and genuinely tried to help whenever issues arose. Their effort to accommodate us was appreciated.

Negatives: We booked a family duplex room with a pool view, but had to change rooms three times. The first room’s air conditioning didn’t work on the upper floor; the second had mold on the whole wallpaper; and finally we were offered either a premium deluxe with private garden (but only one bed) or an interconnecting room with private garden. We chose the interconnecting option. Basic amenities were missing: no hand towels (we had to request them), and the garden bathtub’s shower was leaking. Facilities were disappointing: the private beach was not clean and had a lot of trash, the game rooms were closed for maintenance, only 4 of the 6 dining options were open, and the spa was also closed for maintenance. Despite the staff’s efforts, the repeated room issues and poor condition of facilities made this stay far below expectations. It was not a good experience, and I would hesitate to recommend this hotel until significant improvements are made.

I put a remarks in the booking as a honeymoon stay and got replied from the hotel stating they take note of it. However, i was left quite disappointed as i entered as theres no single decoration. I did not put hope but since they replied so they gave me the hope that there will be some decoration. The balcony outside limits the movement so we did not use it at all.
