Lounge for the guests of the hotel was always beening while we were staying with local groups and you had to walk pass them to go to your room. The room was very nice but the bath was deep and there was no grab handles if you needed them to step in out off the bath because the shower was over the bath. Breakfast was excellent but had to wait for quite a while to be served on the first day so second day went at 7.30 when it opened.

Great central location despite no onsite parking (plenty 200yds away). Staff were very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere in the hotel was genial and the hotel bustling. There was good food on offer and it was great to see a good mix of people using the place. Would definitely return.

The wi-fi was very poor and did not allow good communications in the privacy of the bedrooms. There was also some very loud music constantly coming into the room until around 9.30. This was so annoying as we could not locate the source. Finally, it was great to have a separate lounge area, but during our stay it was booked for outside groups. This meant we had no escape from the interfering noise in our room.

Location was great and the staff very welcoming and provided good information about parking nearby, room decor was lovely, Sunday roast was great value for 3 courses and the breakfast was nice. If I was to stay again it would have to be at the back of the hotel away from the main road. Can’t fault the staff.

The room we stayed in was at the front of the hotel and it was quite noisy especially with the pedestrian crossing beeping, it did quieten down as it got later in the evening but started again early Monday morning, earplugs were supplied so it must of been mentioned by other guests.

The overall stay and welcome was first class. Sunday Dinner was really good as was the full english breakfast the next day.

A male member of staff in bar area for our evening meal had a bit of an attitude and leisurely approach to working. He had to be prompted by other staff to get on with his duties, a shame because all the other staff were brilliant and professional.

Car parking on site would have been helpful but we were given a parking discount for a place to park nearby.

This hotel has a great location with parking. I was met at reception and the staff were very helpful. My room was immaculate, very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very good with good selection of hot and cold items. A special thanks to Charlotte for my introduction, a good stay all round.

We stayed here for one night as a couple and everything was perfect from check‑in to check‑out. The location is excellent — we were able to drop our luggage off and were immediately given clear, helpful advice on where to park. The staff were informative, attentive and genuinely welcoming throughout our stay. Breakfast was absolutely beautiful, with great quality ingredients and friendly service. A faultless stay from start to finish — we would happily return.

Lovely warm welcome...breakfast was superb,as was the very reasonable priced bar meals. Staff where absolutely lovely. They even do pack lunches for you if going out for the day. Brilliant location 2 minute walk to the car park, never had a problem getting a space. Would 100% recommend this hotel!

Friendly, helpful staff. Large, comfortable room and bed. Despite facing the main road it was surprisingly quiet. Hot, powerful shower and the added bonus of a bath. Really good, large meals for breakfast. Would also recommend the evening meals and Sunday lunch.

The only niggle was that the room was not made up on the morning of our second day so we got back to a bath with wet towels in it and an unmade bed. The staff downstairs sorted out the towel situation quickly. Think the issue lies with the signs that are hung on doors which are wooden and have instructions etched in them (which are not easily read - although we would have expected cleaning staff to check them). The lack of parking at the hotel was slightly irritating, although there is free overnight parking at Wentworth Car Park about five hundred yards away.

The location was excellent, in close proximity to exploring Hadrian's Wall and Roman ruins. We were warmly welcomed by all staff, and shown to our spacious room on the 1st floor. There were many menu options at the busy and popular hotel restaurant. No need to go anywhere else. The breakfast was extensive and enjoyable. Parking is nearby and free. Although on the main street, there was no traffic noise at night. Hexham is a lovely town.

The room was lovely, and the best nights sleep in ages. Staff were very friendly. Food out standing. Highly recommend.

Breakfast was good. Rooms were good. Evening meal when it arrived was good. Hotel restaurant was very busy (for a Monday evening, this is a good sign). Unfortunately, some of our preferred menu options were no longer available. Staff did apologise. However, our final bill was incorrect, and had to be reprinted.

Convenient for the bus station for the Hadrian Wall bus. Great food and cosy feel of the pub downstairs. Really nice that staying guests had sole use of a lounge, separate to the pub.

Noisy but this was to be expected as the hotel is on a main road.

We were upgraded to a lovely room with a sitting area. Breakfast was excellent. Everyone was ver friendly and helpful especially regarding the parking. I would highly recommend.

Friendly welcome, helpful staff, great breakfast, good sized room, bathroom spotlessly clean, must have been a comfortable bed and pillows as managed to get some sleep even though one of hottest nights of the year and no AC in room although thoughtfully a fan was already on in the room when we checked in.

We were a party of two couples cycling Hadrian's Cycleway. We were welcomed at the end of the day by very friendly, helpful staff. They happily stored our bikes overnight. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed. The evening meal was excellent . The restaurant staff were very friendly and chatty. Morning staff were also great! Breakfast was delicious - freshly cooked and as requested.

From the moment we arrived to when we left all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was quiet and clean and everything worked (tick). Central location in the town which was perfect. Breakfast was very good.

I realise it’s a pub as well as somewhere to stay but it was very noisy on a night hard to get to sleep

Great room (room 1), great location, perfect breakfast and good value for money. Shame a good night sleep wasn’t forthcoming due to noise from the bar area until 1.30am despite there being a midnight noise curfew.

Central to everything we needed for a nights stay and just for a night out, no curfews to when we need to be back as we were given a fob to enter the building after all main doors locked. Breakfast was included although we didn’t make the breakfast (went abit heavy the night before haha) but overall brilliant stay, we ate at the property after check in a food was lovely, great stay overall and would definitely come back

The cooked breakfast was either prepared hours before or just overcooked. Ate what I could & was offered a replacement however we were in a hurry to travel home.

We stayed in a pet friendly room. It is to be expected that these rooms are not as immaculate as others, however, the carpet was heavily stained, i didnt want to walk around barefoot, the smell of the room was unpleasent. The room was very run down. The bed was really uncomfortable. When getting out of bed the matresss was shallow so it didnt protect your legs from the wooden frame of the bed. The breakfast was included. The cooked option was not enjoyable. Everything was overcooked.

Fire alarm went off at 5am, and we had to stand outside with other guests for 30 minutes or so to wait for manager to arrive & switch it off. Lots of apologies afterwards!

The location of The County Hotel is ideal for exploring Hexham. Although the hotel is on a fairly busy road, our room was very quiet, comfortable and immaculately clean. The hotel doesn’t have a car park but we had no difficulty parking in a car park nearby. All of the staff we met were very welcoming and helpful. We didn’t have dinner on this occasion but the menu looked great. We enjoyed a wonderful freshly cooked breakfast. It set us up perfectly for our journey home. We would happily stay again.

There was no parking on site which was a little inconvenient but the staff were very helpful in finding a free parking space nearby.
