The room was good and the location
A few things-not a very professional set up.Reception was in a pub and no staff overnight.Breakfast in a different building. On the high street so noisy. Not really a hotel-nice rooms above a pub
Comfortable bed.
Location perfect; clean, comfortable, spotless room. Room 2 is lovely!! Nice huge pub downstairs. Breakfast at County Hotel is delicious.
Nothing!
Hexham is a great little town. The Coach and Horses is right in the centre of town. The staff were really helpful and accommodating. A great overnight stay.
Nothing
Friendly staff ,clean ,very dog friendly , good location
Could find a fault with it
Super clean, big bed, great space and nice treats!
Entry through the bar was a bit odd but totally fine!
Location excellent right in the middle of the town. Breakfast was excellent with an abundance of choices, particularly important for my vegan, gluten intolerant daughter. Large double bed, fluffy white towels, instant hot water and quiet at night given that the hotel is located on the main street
Border biscuits.
Excellent staff and very friendly. Lovely comfortable room and very clean and tidy. Nice bar too.
Nothing.
Genius loci of the site, location in walking distance to the castle, friendly staff, excellent kitchen
Nothing to complaint
Spotless, friendly and helpful staff. Found us a place to securely leave our bikes over night. Rooms comfortable, breakfast (over in sister hotel across the road) was tasty
Rooms slightly too hot - but fans were provided
Warm friendly greeting Large bedroom Large modern bathroom Excellent breakfast
Central location, nice room, good breakfast (by the sister hotel across the road). I also appreciated the free earplugs (the room is directly above the pub but this wasn't a problem)
No food on site, but the County hotel is yards away and does excellent food so this is not really a criticism
Lovely clean room good size room
Parking at the hotel not good struggled to park near the hotel
Central location, nice comfy room. Excellent breakfast.
TV noise from next room due to TV being mounted on a stud partition wall, would be the same effect in adjoining room from my room. Advertises “free parking” unfortunately 300 yds away in council car park… a little misleading.
Rooms are lovely , very clean and modern A fan and air con unit has now been added , essential in this heat
They have stopped doing all food, including breakfast, which you now have to walk across the road to the sister hotel to have. The County (sister) is really nice but the feeling of the hotel has changed, just people drinking downstairs now and in this lovely weather outside till late, right outside my room. Parking is a struggle. But we always managed to find somewhere, even if it was down in Waitrose.
Staff excellent, breakfast very good also
Nothing
Friendly staff. Good facilities. Excellent breakfast.
Only that there wasnt a car park.
Fantastic location on Hexham High Street. Our room was nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Great breakfast in nearby hotel.
Good central location and got a free room upgrade. A very comfortable room with open window and window basket full of flowers which I thought was a nice touch. Good breakfast also. They looked after my bike.
Very noisy at kicking out time - didn’t realise it but the Coach & Horses is THE place to go. In anticipation of this, they provide earplugs so wasn’t really a problem for me.
The lady that checked me in was very helpful. Room was very comfortable, nicely decorated and furnished and had all the facilities needed. Nice bar with a good selection of drinks.
Lovely room, decoration and facilities. Staff members were great.
Location convenient. Beer Garden
Friendly staff, comfortable bed, good shower and very clean room. Fan and air-conditioning unit available. Nice hot and tasty breakfast
Door locked jammed so I couldn't get into property, luckily someone was available and let me in, it needs looking at. Car parking arrangements not clear enough.
Spacious room..fans provided for the hot weather... Big king-size bed
Nothing
Very friendly and professional.
No secure motorcycle parking but able to park opposite so not a real issue
Stayed at Coach and Horses for 5 days to visit Hadrians Wall and Newcastle. The room was large, bathroom was very clean and lovely. Feels very comfortable and easy to relax.
Unfortunately me being small, the soap (shampoo, conditioner and body wash was rather high on the wall for me to reach so I went to hairdressers to have my hair washed however I used the bath to wash with another soap.
I have no hesitation in recommending the Coach and Horses as a great place to stay. It’s a short walk from the station. We had a grand day at Hexham Races - even if you’re not a racing fan it’s worth the short distance for the views alone. And we also had a booked concert at the Queens Hall which is also a short walk. (The fabulous Sam Sweeney Trio.) The accommodation is first rate. The manager sought us out to check we had everything we needed. And although our room was just above the front door of the pub the noise hardly bothered us. Just a delightful stay in a great location. It included with a fantastic breakfast across the road at the ‘County’ where the staff were also top rate. If we come to Hexham we would definitely stay here again. The lovely room has everything you could need or want.
Nothing
Very hospitable hosts, immaculately clean. Well appointed.
Great location in the town. Easy checking in and out. Great breakfast. Staff helpful
Nothing
Soundproof rooms with comfortable beds. It had lovely facilities and bar restaurants. Staff was so kind and helpful
Nothing
The staff were very helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Housekeeping were amazing everywhere was spotless. Location was good, although the parking in town can be difficult at times.
Only downside was the noise from pub patrons under bedroom window. Ear plugs are provided but I don't find them comfortable to wear. The rooms are spotless but the lighting is not sufficient to aid reading at night.
Excellent stay, everything we needed was there
Location
Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. The lady in charge of the rooms in particular was readily available.
Although they provided ear plugs, we were not fully prepared for the noise from the bar downstairs primarily from the street in the wee hours. And not that could control it, we were woken up at 2:30 am by several individuals who were locked out of their room. They knocked on the door for about 45 minutes until on site staff dealt with them. Clearly not something they could control but equally they could have acknowledged the upset and disruption with a gesture of customer service. A drink or something. We paid good money to stay and it came highly recommended. Stayed 2 nights and did not get a good night sleep due to uproar.
Terrific breakfast. Comfortable, clean room. I would stay here again. Great location for visiting Hadrian’s Wall, Roman Army Museum, and Vindolanda. Walking distance to Hexham Abbey and a Hexham Train Station.
There was nothing I disliked.
Lovely large bedroom finished to a high standard with super comfy king size bed and nice bathroom with huge shower. Although the accommodation is over a pub, i was pleasantly surprised how well it was isolated from any noise. (I had room 6 by the way which is apparently larger than the others and I think furthest away from the pub bit!)
No onsite parking but there’s a large free public car park 5 mins walk away. The breakfast is provided by a sister hotel over the road, but I didn’t mind (and the breakfast was excellent!)
Excellent location for walking the Wall with Bus and Train Stations within easy walking distance. Fantastic room, massive bed , great en-suite, nice lively bar atmosphere and great choice of breakfast.
Beautiful room and wonderful professional staff
Miss leading parking information (street parking only) Breakfast mediocre at best,
The property was clean , single room was small but had everything i needed. I stayed two nights and the room was cleaned to a good standard after the first night.
The bar and downstairs area was not open , due to refurbishment .
Because of maintenance to the building , meals had to be taken at their sister Hotel over the road but the staff were so welcoming and helpful it really wasn't a problem. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
Nothing I didn't like
Nothing
Hotel was closed for refurb.no staff no bar no restaurants.had to go to the hotel across the street for breakfast.never again.won’t use booking.com again
Room was clean and bed was comfortable
It was very cold for the time of year and the heating didn’t seem to . It was very noisy overnight both inside and outside the hotel. The hotel would benefit from some double glazing.
The room was clean and comfortable, the staff welcoming and the breakfast great, including a good alternative to the usual 'full English'. The hotel was also very central.
Not the hotel's fault but the bar next door was playing loud music until 1am on the first night and loud customes outside afterwards so difficult to get to sleep. Apparently this is only Saturdays and not every weeķ.
Surprisingly quiet room above a busy pub, friendly staff and a lovely presented room.
There was nothing to dislike really although it was unexpected to have to go to a ‘sister’ establishment for breakfast. The other establishment was only across the road and the breakfast and staff were great.
The greeting from staff, the security and cleanliness of the room.
The windows are thin so the noise coming from the high street was easily heard.
Friendly and helpful staff Beautiful bedroom with great bathroom Great breakfast in sister hotel
Nothing
Breakfast was varied and at a good standard
The food snd service provided at The County Hotel.
The shower that could have been hotter and a “ connected” heated towel rail. The bar area seemed rather characterless.
Cosy.

The lady took us to our room and explained everything we needed to know about our stay . The little accessories like tooth brush and toothpaste, face masks, dressing gown s and slippers plenty biscuits, and a beautiful huge very comfortable room everything we needed 😍
The noise from the courtyard, arguing shouting screaming . Couldn't go to sleep untill premises closed up
Good central location
No parking and having to cross the road to the County Hotel for breakfast. The coach and Horses currently does not do food.
Lovely little hotel with a super breakfast
Breakfast was awesome, great location and free public car park only a short walk away. Popular pub below so if you like a drink and a night out it's all good.
Popular pub below, so if you don't want people boozing, smoking and having a night out below your bedroom maybe it isn't the place for you. Our bedroom was right above the entrance to the pub so anyone who wanted to smoke, vape or kick off in front of the pub did it below our window.
Every think was so clean and all the staff was very friendly
Nothing
Friendly staff , clean , comfortable and close to all the amenities.
Room was clean, modern and spacious. The staff were extremely helpful and the location was perfect. Breakfast at the sister hotel (The County) was cooked to order and excellent.
Nothing to dislike.
The room was lovely, good bed and pillows, modern warm and very clean Breakfast included Toiletries and a tea tray too
Parking could be a challenge as you need to park local, I was lucky and found a spot over the road near the Pizza shop The staff were helpful in advising where you could park nearby A little noise from the bar below and the traffic, but there were some earplugs provided on the bedside table so it didn’t affect my stay at all
Clean and well maintained, comfortable room. The staff were excellent and very accommodating, they went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience.
We were booked in for 2 nights and the first night was a little noisy from outside. There were a couple of takeaways nearby and the restaurant next door was hosting a party which we could hear until after midnight. We knew we had booked into a pub and were prepared to stay for the second night however the staff were marvellous and moved us across to their sister hotel across the road. We even had an upgrade to a large room with a super Kingsize bed!
Excellent place to stay. All the staff were really friendly and the room was spotless with great facilities. A fantastic night's sleep even though it was on the main road. We had both an evening meal and breakfast at the sister hotel The County and again, the staff were very accommodating and friendly. I'd definitely recommend and I've no doubt we will be staying again.
Location was perfect for all the town , our room was really nice comfie bed and lovely bathroom
Had to cross the road to a sister hotel for breakfast and bit of a hassle finding parking
The staff, were helpful, kind and friendly
Both were excellent 👍
Nothing everything was perfect 👍
Breakfast good. Location suitable for what we wanted to do
Felt a bit uncomfortable being in a pub with opening hours out different from hotel. Main problem was road noise, particularly the first night but ear plugs had been thoughtfully provided!
Great breakfast, helpful, friendly staff, fantastic location.
Na
The hotel was not as described on the booking information. Check-in was disorganised.
The property was not suitable for someone of my age and disability and little was done to rectify the issues.
The property is very central and it’s easy to enjoy the town. The staff were pleasant, efficient and inviting. The breakfast across the street was good with a wide selection of cooked options and great service. The room was large with a good sized bathroom and a good shower.
The room was freezing when I arrived and took an awful long time to warm up. The parking is ‘as you find it’ which can be a bit hit and miss. Saying that I have stayed twice and found parking close by both times.
The rooms were clean and cosy
Unfortunately it seems like the pub is used as the local youth club 🙃
Gutes Frühstück Bestens ausgestattete Zimmer über schönen Pub Ruhig trotzdem
Size of room Breakfast very good
Lots of noise of an evening Having our breakfast over the road Lack of parking
Room was very clean and comfortable, the breakfast was outstanding, the server couldn't do enough for us plus our dog got scrambled egg too
The staff, the location, immaculately clean room and bathroom.
Only the heating upstairs was too hot but not a problem as radiators had thermostats...but I fear for their heating bill!
Great location in Hexham
No parking at the hotel. The bartender was a bit rude but the manager was very nice. Breakfast across the road was excellent.
Staff were brilliant from booking until leaving. The room was warm and cosy. Nice little extras too like ie) face masks, spare toothbrush, and earplugs ( not required)
Only one minor point. The room was quite dark, lovely at night with all of the lamps on, but getting ready was a challenge. The mirror in the bathroom was a light up one, but there was not really anywhere to put make up etc whilst getting ready.
Professional, friendly staff, very clean, good location, comfortable bed.
Very comfortable and nicely decorated room. Very good breakfast at affiliated pub across the road.
I need to begin by saying that this is all a matter of personal preference and not a criticism of the hotel. If you are happy to be above a busy pub that is open until midnight, and nextdoor to a disco that is open until 1am, then go for it. To be fair, they did provide earplugs which helped a little, but I had a pretty sleepless night with people carousing on the he street until 2am.
By far one of the best places to stay in the northeast of England, beautiful restaurant and bar, the host is always welcoming, accommodation is clean comfortable and cosy
From the outside the property looked good and the bedroom and en-suite well presented and clean. Property location for what I needed was good. My room was upgraded.
The property is no more than a pub with rooms. Check in was poor by the bar. The person checking me in continued her conversation with other people she was talking to when I arrived! Not a good first impression. The whole of the ground floor is split into public bar areas with one side having a pool table. The music noise from the bar until 11.00pm and banging of doors in the bar areas until 11.30pm was unacceptable. There was some street noise as the bedroom does not benefit from secondary glazing. The bed and 4 pillows were all hard and uncomfortable for my preference. There are no blackout curtains so the street lighting came into the room. I could hear someone snoring in the room next to me and someone walking on the floor in the bedroom above. This all contributed to a really bad night with little sleep. So much for an upgraded room which was on the first floor directly above the bar areas! Although food was available in the sister hotel across the street, in the pouring rain and cold this wasn’t an ideal situation.
Location was great, just across the road from the venue. Nice and warm. Staff were great very friendly, nice bar. We saw Henry Cole at the Queen art centre.
Great place to stay in Hexham. Right in the centre. Lovely breakfast at the sister hotel over the road in the morning.
Very friendly and welcoming - given an upgrade which was a pleasant surprise. Room very comfortable, clean and warm with an excellent shower. Breakfast also very good, albeit in a sister hotel across the road.
Clean friendly nice large room. Immaculate bathroom with bath. Exceptional breakfast very good value included in the room rate too. Parking was not a problem ample free parking around town
Nothing to dislike
The location was ideal
