Family birthday dinner - excellent - many thanks !
Staying at the coach house hotel great bar and welcoming people and Just had the best smashed burger I have had in years brilliant
Bar was very small and unable to sit due more than 10 people in there. Regulars/owners very loud and not very welcoming. Food was poor and certainly not worth the price. Dinner we had a lasagne which felt was very pre made extra cheese put on top and microwaved. Fries? Supposed to be made of potato? Just seemed to be crisps. Breakfast was not welcomed in - no presence of staff - found the chef asked if we could have full English which had certainly seen better days I’m sure the bacon was a few days old very rubbery un edible. Room was extremely small - very small double bathroom couldn’t swing a cat in let alone wash and dry comfortably.
Disgusting, stuff of no idea about food or preparation or hygiene. Cigarette butts literally all over the place outside hundreds of them. Won't take 2 minutes to sweep up. All from the owner or manager I imagine, If the place was run differently it could be wonderful. Not sure who owns it but they should change their management.
Thank you so much for all of your help and professionalism with my daughter’s baptism party yesterday. Great communication and great service. Thank you.
It's 3 star, so I wasn't expecting the earth. Room was clean. Unwelcoming bloke in the bar, probably because I had the audacity to interrupt his Sunday evening. Same unwelcoming bloke at breakfast trying to suggest I am late (which I wasn't according to both the note on the back of the door, 0930, or the lady at check in, 1100), who vaguely pointed at the hot water urn and instant coffee and couldn't give a toss he had no dairy free milk. I might have just been mildly disgruntled if the couple who appeared later hadn't been given filter coffee. Oh, and the mushrooms were rank - cook them for longer and season them.
Staff are friendly, food is good (especially the breakfast), beer is also decent. Room was clean and as expected. The room was a little tired around the edges and the water pressure was very low but nothing problematic. Our issue was we got caught up in a party that went on late (have a young child) and our room was right next to the exit from the bar with the other guest giving us drunken shenanigans till 1am. Limited sleep unfortunately.
Just an overnight trip so needed something special, but the shower in our room wouldn’t full a kettle just a drip. Breakfast was ok and edible to keep us going.
Very clean rooms and friendly staff
Breakfast was good. Accommodation was very basic for price, water pressure very low , bathroom door very hard to open, sticky catch. Tv very small for size of room. Needs a deep clean. Bedding and towels were clean.
Having come from a 4 star where I paid £80 per night this place charged £110! Given that it was the only place near where I was attending a function there was little other choice. The room we were given "you couldn't swing a cat in". It was so small, lacking in space an storage. Even half of the wardrobe was screwed shut! The galley style bathroom was a joke. The only shelf space was a 6 in X 3 in shelf above the toilet roll (unless you used the toilet seat). The room was very cold upon arrival and the heating in the room didn't function despite staff supposedly turning it on. To top it all off we arrived back at the hotel after our function at 2130 hrs on a Saturday night expecting to be able to have a few drinks only to find the whole place locked up! The whole experience was terrible. Of course, they charge such a high rate for this "service" because they are only five minutes from the IWM at Duxford. NEVER AGAIN!!!!
Just nice to catch up with family and friends very friendly good food
A lit of nouse outside from a party that lasted past 10 pm. The free breakfast was cancelled one of the days. There is no real coffee at breakfast. Only instant.
Firstly booking the room very difficult! Website directed you to fill out a form detailing your room and dates etc. I filled it out but I didn’t get a reply. Decided to use Whats app chat bot. I got a reply which said someone would call me back to take details. They didn’t. I phoned the Whats app number and person answered and asked me to call hotel directly. So booking took 3 days!! The hotel is very overpriced. The radiator in bathroom very rusty, no lock on bathroom door and a hole where the lock used to be, tv wires hanging in front of wardrobe space. A guest was playing loud music outside our bedroom window. Fortunately this only lasted for an hour. Room notice displayed restaurant opening times. Nothing about email password. Went to bar area and member of staff just said it’s there and nodded to the router which displayed the information. The room was in need of tlc. To be fair there were some modern touches and an effort to improve the decor. Bathroom towel good quality. Lots of parking spaces. There is some traffic noise but I slept despite this. It’s such a shame that the room was extremely overpriced.
Had a one night stay booked, as we had an evening wedding reception to go to nearby. We arrived early as we wanted to have a relaxing lunch and not have to rush. Easy access off the A505, ample parking. Had a delicious lunch from a varied menu, quiet, but a lovely friendly atmosphere. Staff were fantastic, very attentive. The accommodation was on par with the price we paid, it did the job! Breakfast was lovely in the morning, just what we needed. Check in and out was easy.
Brilliant Sunday roast with lovely service too. Would highly recommend a visit. The place is well presented and great decor too. We will be back for food again. Will recommend to family and friends to visit for a meal and some drinks too. Well worth a visit.
Good food
Stopped for a roast on way back from Norfolk. Had a beef and turkey roast, felt like we needed more variety in terms of veg as price was high, veg was unseasoned. I would say it was a standard roast dinner. My sons hot dog was good and he enjoyed the skin on fries which came with it. Friendly staff, thanks for having us
Very tired property
Great location, room clean and tidy bed very confertable. Staff very helpful, Dave the owner and chole who works in the bar very friendly, chef was brilliant is pies are amazing, that nice I took to home , definitely stay again , Wayne from wolves
The service was excellent through the stay. The rooms are set in converted buildings away from the main building which overlook the common used courtyard. The evening meal was well cooked and large portions with a choice related of burgers, chicken, pizza and chips. The room was well located for Duxford and the Air Show we attended and suited us for an overnight stay.
The bar is very small and closes early - we were exhausted so certainly wasn’t an issue for us and the restaurant was a decent size. Meal was good, great selection of drinks, room (spitfire) was clean and comfortable and appeared to have been recently refurbished. The young lady (owners daughter?) served us in the evening and the following morning very efficiently and competently so thankyou! Breakfast was included , very tasty and perfect size. First time staying here and I will stay again
Very good for a short stay. Room was a bit small but clean, comfortable and quiet. Staff are very good. Plenty of choice for a good freshly cooked breakfast,
The breakfast was good, everything else, not so much. Floor was creaky and uneven. Shower was weak and either scolding or freezing. Mattress was past its best. Main window was covered by a thin curtain, small box window didn’t have anything to cover it. Found a dead fly on the floor. Positives were that we did get clean bedding and towels. it was quiet, although don’t think there was anyone else in our building. Ample parking. Easy to find. Bar and restaurant was okay
Generally fine. Clean room, adequate for my stay. Good choice of burgers and hotdogs but little else on the menu. Breakfast was fine with the chef prepared to make your choice. On a main road so never going to be quiet! The permanent funfair right outside was unexpected though. To be fair(!) it did close down at 9pm. Lots of opportunity to walk (run for me)locally on quieter side roads. Duxford is 5 minutes drive (the main reason for my visit) with an RSPB site just a couple of miles away also.
The fourth time , we stayed at this hotel, and once again, I couldn't fault it. Rooms are spotlessly clean with comfortable beds and ensure bathrooms. The rooms are in the courtyard of a public house that has a great selection of draft ales, wines and spirits. The food is great ( although be aware no food served on a Sunday evening) Breakfast is plentyful with a great full English cooked by the host. Don't be out off by the negative reviews as this is actually a little hidden gem and I would recommend this hotel. ( ideal for those visiting IWM Duxford)
Suited us for our visit to the area
One of the best places we have stayed in !
The room was only prepared for one person...no mirror in bath room.no hair dryer Could hear every noise ,footsteps, and talking from the people upstairs. Could no drown out the noise with sound from the tv..due to it not working. Perfect location. But above a let down
Have been staying here for a few years now. Ideal for short stays and located around 10 minutes to the IWM Duxford and M11 motorway. Most rooms have been renovated and an updated menu in the restaurant.
Was suitable for our needs we would book again
Late check in. No lights outside made it hard to see. Room was tiny, bathroom the size of a broom cupboard. Clean but smelt of drains with curtains that were see through (ground floor). Solo female traveller for work. Was made to feel uncomfortable at breakfast by commenting I was the last guest - it was 8am and breakfast was served until 9.30. Would not recommend.
Great welcome by the landlord. Comfortable room if a little warm, but clean and tidy. Good breakfast. Would i stay again? Yes.
Breakfast and evening meal was good. Water pressure on shower needs improvement as does actual shower. Maybe a grab rail .?
Food was good, service with a smile always nice. Reasonable stock of malt whiskies. (always ask before adding ice) Room small but clean and tidy. Shower really disappointing, very little water pressure so don’t expect a quick shower. All in all it was good for a one night stay.
We had a lovely Sunday lunch here today. Excellent service and meal, couldn't fault it. Would definitely recommend it, you won't be disappointed. Plenty of parking spaces and good play area for children. There is a lovely courtyard area to sit and relax.
Basic but clean and newly refurbished! Friendly service and excellent breakfast!
The room was clean and functional The service was excellent and the breakfast options were very good Staff were polite and friendly and very helpful
Very disappointed in the hotel. It looks good from outside but dining room was in need of a lot of TLC. Breakfast was joke really, instant coffee water in a tea urn. No brown bread for toast only had white. Lights were hanging loose from dining room ceiling and chef was doing the waiting on
Room was clean & tidy but weather was very hot so room was like an oven, thank goodness there was a fan.
I stayed for one night and check in was without any issue, the staff were very friendly and I got straight to my room. Later on the staff allowed me to move my motorcycle out of view from the road and bring it into the court yard which was appreciated. The rooms are a little dated, but everything worked. Most importantly the room was very clean, with decent towels, bedding and facilities. Mine (Tiger Moth) had a walk in shower, toilet and sink in the bathroom and then a double bed, TV and furniture with tea/coffee making facilities in the main room. The bed was very comfortable. The rooms are named after military aircraft, probably due to the IWM Duxford being down the road. The breakfast the next day was spot on, a full English cooked breakfast with tea/coffee and cereals. For the price I certainly cannot fault it!
Friendly clean and comfortable
The inside can only be termed sleazy and uncared for, with confused inconsistency of style and image. I am sorry that we have to concur with the review of Tim W. (October 23). My Filipino wife was met with what can only be termed deliberately spite when she asked for her coffee to be replaced by what she had ordered. I've never before suffered a pre- sugared undrinkable cappucino. I had to go to the next McDonalds to remove the taste. Food was OK but overpriced. We had to be picky about cutlery to find any clean. The sauce containers were riffy and unclean, many empty, conspicuously unchecked over a long period of time.
Very welcoming. Owner/head cook most accommodating of requests for early breakfasts. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Lovely setting in open countryside.
All ok.missed food Sunday night as kitchen closed after 5pm
Awful hotel. See my review on trip advisor! We booked out a night early and paid to stay somewhere else. Tv doesn't work, no wifi, no mirrors in bathroom, uncomfortable bed, awful breakfast, shabby, curtains let in light, all people in bar could see into room, NOISY, could hear every sound from room above, doors stick so get slammed, rude manager. .awful place..miles from anything except a busy road .avoid.
Awful, we left! Pros...none Cons.. TV didn't work, they gave us a different lead, didn't work. Then gave us another TV and it didn't work..manager said 'what do you expect me to do??' After he bothered to put his pint down and give me any sort of attention. I said it was the ariel. I was told there wasn't any other available rooms and the shops are shut. Bathroom is tiny, no mirror, shower is a trickle. Room is small, bed lumpy and hard and something bit my finger in the night.. ? Midge? Breakfast is awful, cheap beans, fatty bacon, greasy sausage, white toast x 1. I left half of mine. Worse bit....we were in Lightning room. .we could hear every single footstep from upstairs, every creak on every step, door sticks so everyone slams the doors, so we were woken up just after 5am. Curtains so thin all the bar could see into my room, so no privacy, had to hang towels up at the window. We checked out and booked into a Holiday Inn rather than spend a 2nd night there. I won't hold my breath for a refund either. On a very busy road, nothing for 4 miles either way and uber wouldn't pick up from there.
Disappointing given the price. The bed was comfortable and check in was easy (at the bar). Parking was excellent and it was well signposted. But the condition of the room wasn't great - e.g. cracked sink, similarly poor shower tray surround. The room was pretty small, which was fine given we were there for one night but I wouldn't have wanted to stay longer. Road was surprisingly noisy given we were set back from it.
Stayed her on 3 separate occasions in the last 2 weeks (good price for a hotel not too far from Papworth Hospital) landlord/owner and his daughter who works in the bar/restaurant are great. Hoping to visit again in less stressful circumstances with my husband once he gets out of hospital
Our room was very clean. We had breakfast included in our stay and it was cooked to order. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Stayed one night, arrived late, left after breakfast. Nice room. Good breakfast. Convenient location. Can't spell Phantom (as in the plane), Nothing in room re WiFi, no television remote. The rooms are all aircraft named, as close to Duxford. Don't think I'd stay again, but thank you to the two people I did see!
The heated towel rail was not secured to the wall and posed a health and safety risk. We stayed for two nights but we're told that due to staff sickness, we would have to make our own bed and tidy up. The door lock was not secure. There was insufficient room to hang up clothes. They served full English breakfast, but we're unable to do Poached egg or grilled tomato due to not having the right equipment! Cleanliness in the bar area was not great. The staff at front of house were very pleasant. It was way over priced at £99 a night.
Great
Great overnight stay following a wedding locally.
Visiting family in the area so very convenient. Hotel is next to a busy road but you cannot hear any traffic within the rooms. Lovely hot shower and cosy towels. Owners very pleasant and friendly with a warm welcome. Enjoyed our stay in Spitfire room.
Great stay, good value for money.
I certainly wouldn’t look anywhere else if I needed an overnight stay in the area in future!
Room was clean although cold due to the weather change!. Shower, unfortunately was unusable, hardly any water pressure, and what was delivered was luke warm. Food, (inc breakfast) was good and enjoyable.
Spoilt by the fact that the owner expressed racist and homophobic views even when we made it clear we did not share his opinions. If you are from a minority community this is not the hotel for you. I will not be returning
Very basic but a comfortable bed with clean, crisp linen. However, the room was rather small and the lighting in the bathroom very poor.
Writing anything here
Such a delightful hotel quiet, beautiful gardens.Ample free parking, highly recommended. Breakfast included in the price was so delicious.
Comfortable and clean, welcoming owner, great breakfast, we would stay again
There is no wifi, the bulb in the room was very dim. You had to close the curtains as there were no nets and the window looked out into the beer garden. One bar phone signal made hotspot very slow when possible. no good for work.
Everyone at the coach house was very nice and extremely helpful, especially when we were let down by a taxi firm. The owner arranged for us to be driven to our venue AND we were collected so our night out went smoothly. Ideal location for lots of places so we’ll definitely be staying there again. Lovely breakfast too!
Hotel needs 24hr reception for emergencies our key broke in the look when we arrived back late at night the hotel was all locked up no one there guests are left to fend for themselves lucky by chance we found another room was left open and the nightmare was over especially having an elderly family member with me. No apologies no remorse the following morning so was disappointed but overall the hotel was perfect if that hadn’t of happened.
Stayed following a Tom Jones concert at Audrey End . Friendly welcome and excellent lunch can recommend the ribs . Small room but super clean. Bargain for the money . We will definitely be back if for nothing else to enjoy the American BBQ . Great garden for kids
Nice welcome, showed us to our rooms, basic but I was impressed have everything you need, had a meal in the restaurant which was nice (expensive as the burgers don’t come with chips!) HOWEVER Coming back from a concert at Audley End house 11:30pm I managed to break the key in the door lock I know my fault but my main concern is there was no way of contacting the staff, the hotel does not have a 24hr reception luckily we managed to find by chance a room left open to stay in but this situation could have turned serious having my elderly family member with me and we live an 1hr 1/2 away. Next morning explained what had happened no apology no remorse was told “you must have turned the key the wrong way”! Yes I understand that and thank god there was a room left open for us to find I strongly suggest an emergency number is advertised so this situation never happens again to future guests. Breakfast was lovely.
Purchased 2 double rooms, one had a 4ft bed, not suitable for 2 adults to sleep in. Carpet in entrance was soaking wet, as there was a water leak but hotel didn’t know until I said. But person in room by the door said it’s been there since yesterday. Only one bath towel in room. Toilet took 15mins to fill up, as water pressure is so low.
Small room only fresh air was a window which over looked a yard with table's were people sat and smoked and talked till gone 1 in the morning, we were told the cold tap didn't work properly and the shower had black mould round it, the only good thing was the food.
Had a great overnight stay at the Coach House. Bed very comfortable, decor very nice and bright. Breakfast was fabulous. Overall a great stay. Staff very welcoming
Excellent all round, worth a stay.
Having enjoyed a takeaway from here previously we decided to have lunch with some friends here! The food is utterly delicious and great value for money, good selection of drinks and the staff are super friendly too! Will definitely be returning again! Thoroughly recommend a visit.
Excellent staff nothing too much trouble
Booked for 4 days. 3 days without the room cleaned or fresh towels. Although open in morning from 7am, 1 Morning not open until 9 for breakfast, due to school run!!, no notice given. First night in the bar, swearing, making jokes about a guest and that was Staff / Owners? The best thing was the lady with short dark hair and the English breakfast which was really good, and that is the only 2 things that we would recommend
Location was perfect for our stay. Close to Duxford IWM
Hotel was deserted when we arrived and we were just given our key. No food available after a long trip but garage opposite had sandwiches. Room was okay but bed was a bit hard. It was clean, nice big shower and toilet was a nightmare to flush, needs looking at. Got worried when band was setting up in a marquee right outside our window and being in a heatwave we had to have window open. Really loud event went on until midnight with revellers not leaving until gone 12.30am, no sleeping through that, why did they give us that room? Went to hotel restaurant for dinner. American diner style menu and food was lovely. Claire was a lovely friendly server although she was rushed off her feet. Turns out she was owners daughter, this is a family business. Breakfast was okay if a little undercooked sausage and egg. Served efficiently by younger daughter this time , always with a smile. Overall hotel was very friendly but a couple of things need attention. Awareness of customers needing sleep when there is a function needs improvement. Proximity to Duxford for the Air Show was perfect. Good value for what we paid.
2 night stay whilst visiting Duxford Air show, can't fault the staff really friendly and helpful , but the place could do with a bit of TLC, from the noise of banging doors throughout the night I assume everyone elses door was sticking too. Tables in the courtyard were left needing a wipe down from Friday to Sunday. Our room had a small window overlooking the carpark with no blind/curtain so impossible to sleep after 5 am when the sun streamed through. Breakfast was good and plentiful.
Good for short stay travel. Clean and tidy and all amenities needed are there. Friendly staff.
Very Cheap nasty hotel, very small double bed, no free Wi-Fi not everything on the listing was in the room. No iron, soap was rose scented which my partner is allergic to. Very thick/ heavy duvet in the middle of summer, bedding was cheap. Woke up to ants in the room and on the bed. TV kept randomly turning on and saying there was reminders set, shower was grimey and wasn’t draining properly. Toilet did not flush correctly toilet paper was very cheap and thin. No privacy with room window, can see straight through the curtains. only 1 towel for a double room. Kettle and mugs were dirty. Did not feel welcome in the pub, felt like we was intruding the landlords family gathering. Check in was poor, no details taken other then a name. Check out was not much better, just got asked to hand keys over. Breakfast was served with a very undercooked egg. Electrical safety clearly ignored in both room and the pub, 3 extensions plugged into each other in the pub.
The rooms were set as old stables. Quite small but fine for a couple of nights stay. The rooms were clean and tidy. Bed comfortable. Bathroom was again small but clean and towels large and fluffy. The pub food was delicious and the breakfast served fresh and hot. Staff were friendly and helpful. Situated in an ideal location for Duxford. Will be staying again in August.
Easy check in. Meals/drinks well priced and really delicious! Simple room but that’s all you need!
I am not in the habit of giving less than favourable reviews but I have to say The Coach House is very overpriced for the standard of the accommodation. The room was dated and basic; very tiny bathroom with just enough room to manoeuvre (and I am not big). The toilet roll holder kept falling off and the blind in the velux window was stained and clearly fixed temporarily to stay up! The bed however was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The breakfasts on offer were uninspiring, usual cereal, packet pastries and a full English with white bread – no choice of brown or white. Nothing to write home about. Be careful if arriving when it’s dark, as there are no security lights when approaching the courtyard from the car park. The staff were friendly, but it does need a lot of TLC and whilst I appreciate renovations have begun, the price per room needs to reflect the standard at the current time.
I will never stay anywhere else when I’m in this neck of the woods. Great rooms, great staff and locals. Can’t wait to be back. Made welcome from the start of another visit. Dave, daughters, chefs, locals, all outstanding. Cant wait to return. Food cooked well morning and evening. See you all again
We went for an event and overnight stay and thoroughly enjoyed it. Dinner was excellent and would definitely stay there again x
The room and public areas are clean and comfortable, but badly in bed of updating. Staff are very friendly and helpful, even going out of the way to buy specific food for our breakfast. The hotel is very remote so you really need a car to get around the area easily - there's a fuel station opposite for late night snacks, but nothing else. Overall, a nice little hotel but really dated and needing a makeover.
Nice looking property from outside , but room was dirty especially bathroom . And needs lots of updating . Staff friendly .
First shown to a smelly, dirty unmade room. The second room was clean and smelt pleasant. Very basic amenities but comfortable bed and soft bedding. Breakfast was basic but good. Surprised that on checking in no personal details were taken, I was just handed a key.
Stay was just ok. Good parts- good food, hearty breakfast included! Quant cottage like rooms, heater worked great for a chilly night. Beds felt clean. Bad parts-toilet didnt flush, didnt do anything to fix it. No discount offered for the inconvenience. Gave us bucket to fill the tank to flush. After we had to convince 2 people it didn't work. Beds hard! Very dated, super small bathroom. Okay for a night but wouldn't stay any longer. Price was a but steep for the stay.
We had the bridal suite which was in upgrade and it was beautiful
I hated it. Very old, dilapidated annex of rooms. Dirty shower, very old beds, poor quality furniture, dark, dismal, depressing
Stayed one night prior to a daynout in the area. it was clean and tidy suitable for a short stay. Staff friendly, food basic but good
Suitable for people with mobility problems, there are ramps and roos are ground floor. When we first arrived there wasnt a pleasant greeting, in fact we felt as if we were being a nuisance. Food was ok. The rooms circle a courtyard and when we arrived thrre was a large awning that we thought was a rain cover for guests sitting out, but on our last night they were setting up for a 'soul night' the following day, we were tired so when they decided to test the amplifiers we couldnt hear our tv, or relax it gave us thumping headaches!!! Disregard for guests there!! We had to ask how long it would be & was told in a 'so what fashion' it would be an hour or so!! Never stay thete again. Sink was coming of the wall & water didnt drain from the shower for quite a while.
Room was basic and no thrills, bed uncomfortable, lots of noise close bar as next to bar, also the faved the courtyard which was very noisy - not a place for a light sleeper. NO breakfast offered although paid for - no chance of a repeat stay!!!
Basic but extremely clean room and public areas. Only there to sleep so why would I want to be paying for fancy curtains and decoration? Everything that was needed was there. Breakfast was very good and even had Marmite sachets among various jams. There is a hidden protected large courtyard so very safe for kids. Very good bar prices. Why pay hundreds for a hotel in Cambridge centre, plus crazy parking fees? Not very far out and on a good access road.....use park and ride.....save a fortune.
No meals available on Saturday night or Sunday
Didn’t stay due to family emergency but pre paid !
Ideal location for our needs.
Good value for money and friendly staff. The room was small but comfortable and the included breakfast was good.
