Eype's Mouth Country Hotel

A lovely hotel tucked away in a quiet location close to Eypes Beach. Easy access to coastal paths for walks. We had lovely room which was very comfortable and had everything we need during our stay. All the staff we came across were exceptionally attentive, friendly and keen to help in any way. Very impressive.

Some of the facilities were a little tired but this did not affect our enjoyment of the hotel.

Breakfast was good. Opening windows for the clean fresh air. Helpful friendly staff. Kettle etc. Comfortable bed.

The narrow lane to the hotel was a bit of a challenge! No lift upstairs for my disabled wife and myself which could put people off. We would have liked twin beds.

I don't normally eat before 11am so gave breakfast a miss, but was told by others that it is very good 👍

We arrived and realised our room was upstairs which i didnt realise when booked. Unfortunately there were no rooms available downstairs. When breakfast time arrived the staff were absolutely brilliant in setting up a tray for my partner to bring up to the room to save having to come down using the stairs. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The stay was beautiful and relaxing. The food was amazing and an excellent choice of foods. We will be staying again without a doubt. The parking for disabled was literally outside the reception. The terrace made it for us it was beautiful and tranquil.

Udendørs områderne ved hotellet er hyggelige, personalet er venligt og opmærksomt. God kommunikation med hotellet fra booking til ankomst. Vi spiste aftensmad på hotellet og det var fint og godt tilberedt. Det samme kan siges om morgenmaden.

Værelset var lidt lille og gangen på 1. sal var meget smal.

I booked this hotel mainly for the location to go fossil hunting but the hotel ended up being the best thing of the stay. Very attentive staff, colourful and cosy room, excellent choices for breakfast; I would absolutely stay here again.

Our stay at the hotel was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Nestled in beautiful countryside, the hotel offered us an upgraded room with a perfect sea view. From the moment we arrived, Abbie and the team made us feel incredibly welcome and nothing was too much effort for them. The attention to detail was impeccable; we loved the mugs with hot chocolate, along with complimentary cake, which was a really thoughtful touch. Breakfast was fantastic and made us feel truly spoilt. It was such a treat to have hot food served at the table, cooked exactly to our liking. We also thoroughly enjoyed the evening meals; both the food and the service were excellent. Overall, this little countryside hotel is outstanding value for money, set in a stunning location with attentive and welcoming staff. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Everything was beyond my expectations the level of personal service was extreme attention to detail. I arrived later than expected and my meal request was delivered after I’d dropped my things in my room. The room was beautiful with an amazing view which included the sea. The team could not of made my stay more pleasurable. Thank you especially to Abbie.

The hotel is in a beautiful location. You can sip a gin and tonic on the terrace overlooking the sea. The pebble beach is a short walk down a steep (ish) hill. The room was very comfortable, spacious and tastefully decorated. Food was great. The staff could not be nicer. We will definitely return.

A minor thing: the net curtains would blow apart when the window was open so anyone sitting in the corner table of the dining room could see into our room. I solved this with a hair clip so no real bother.

It was tranquil, comfortable and in a secluded location.

Food was a bit disappointing, although breakfast was great, the choices for the set dinner were quite limited- on their website, the sample menu details 2 x meat, 2 x fish and 2 x vegetarian choices for main course. However, whilst we were there, there was 2 x meat, 1 x fish and 1 x vegetarian choice, (which was also one of the same options on the casual dinning menu). The water in the hot tub was murky with a slick of suncream floating on top.

Breakfast was wonderful. They have two types of evening meals. I only had time for the informal menu but it really good. The views and the short distances to the beach and the walks

It was warm in the room with the summer heat. Closing curtains and open windows helped. The drive down the lane can be interesting, especially if someone thinks they have to be somewhere now. The word patience and the ability to back up help.

Staff are excellent and attentive. Breakfast was good. Bar food menu was good and home made although I always object to frozen chips! Despite a long list things that need to improve, I would still go again!

General decor is very old and tired. They are apparently in the process of renovating rooms but it is not going to be quick as there is a lot of work to do. We were also told that the dining room upgrade had been completed but other that the walls being painted stone grey and some plantation blinds being installed I honestly couldn't see it. We joked whilst there that it felt like being on the set of Faulty Towers and other than the staff, I don't think we were far from the mark. Also not to be overlooked are the general maintenance jobs that make a hotel, even one in need of an update, OK. The seats of chairs in the dining room had sagged and were ""unsitable", the door at the top of the stairs was dirty, the stairway bannisters were dirty, the 00's chandeliers were filthy and looked to still have nicotine stains on them. The patio areas had weeds growing up between the concrete slabs...something made more remarkable by the fact that most of the plants were dead. Given it's location this hotel deserves to be a premium boutique get away...shame it doesn't make the grade at the moment b

The staff were exceptionally attentive. Food, breakfast and dinner, was excellent. Location is perfect, short walk to the beach and cliff top walks. Other places to see are all near by.

The only comment I can give is the property is a little tired in places and could maybe do with some attention.

Good location a medium walk from Eypes Mouth Bay - which we visited in the evening and morning. The bedroom was small with a small toilet and shower, but had a sea view as stated. Friendly staff, actively checking that we were comfortable, the drinks orders (on the South facing terrace with a view of the sea) had been taken, that we were called through to the table d’hote dinner and that our table was one by a window with a view at breakfast. At the end of the stay, the booking-out staff member asked how the stay had been and picked up my rather lukewarm “OK” and asked, indeed pushed, for further feedback, which I thought was caring and constructive. The overnight stay was dearer than other hotels in the vicinity. The table d’hote menu for dinner arrived by e-mail at around midday to be ordered by 4:00 PM, and had rather limited choice. The food at dinner and breakfast were both good average, but we thought should have been more inspiring (but we should add that one of us had more limited choices on the menu because of some food intolerances). The bed had a ridge in the middle, and seemed softer on one side than the other. The west garden and west end of the hotel, as seen from the breakfast table, looked a bit uncared for and could do with a good bit of gardening and a lick of paint.

Not much. Chairs in breakfast room no padding on seat, bit tatty. Road down narrow, so bear that in mind. Bed very soft.

Good choice at mealtimes and we especially loved the freshly cooked breakfast. A special word of praise for the staff who were unfailingly thoughtful and helpful throughout.

Staff were friendly and efficient. A lovely position, a good small hotel. And the food, just lovely, couldn’t fault it! Oh and the artwork, whoever chose it, excellent!

A lot of small flower pots about outside, looking neglected, just get rid of them and tidy up the flower beds. The bread at breakfast time, budget bread, when everything else was so good.

Once I had negotiated the somewhat narrow road the hotel was welcoming and the parking easy. I had the table d'hote evening meal, which was good if quite large portions. Breakfast very good - better oeufs-benedicts than I have had for some time.

Breakfast coffee was insipid and tastless. Needs improving. Numerous and unnecessary cushions on the bed left little room for sleeping.

Fabulous in everyday possible, made us very welcome, food was exceptional, service was amazing...couldn't do enough for us. Holly and Amelia were first class and made us feel special. Fabulous location and facilities...comfortable beds and rooms. We will come back again

We had the Super Deluxe room with sea view it was really lovely however there was not a mirror in the room that I needed to be able to do my hair or even look at how I looked when dressing for dinner so an addition of a mirror would make it perfect

Für uns war es perfekt! In direkter Fußnähe zum Strand und zu den Spazierwegen an den Klippen. Sehr schönes Zimmer mit Willkommensgruß aus der Küche. Obst stand immer bereit, Kaffee im Zimmer verfügbar. Das Personal ausnehmend nett. Hier gab es bisher das beste Frühstück unserer Rundreise.

Alles sehr alt und nicht richtig in Stand gehalten, Unerträgliche Temperaturen im sehr kleinen Zimmer (30 Grad Außentemperatur haben sich im Vergleich super angenehm angefühlt)

Great Hotel, loved it closeness to the gorgeous unspoilt beach and coast path. Especially appreciated was the helpful friendly staff and the lovely warm welcome arriving after a long hot day travelling. Home made cake in the bedroom was also a lovely touch. And then walking down for a swim and watch the sunset. Rooms were very comfortable and nicely refurbished. Thank you all for a really enjoyable stay. Highly recommended.

Hotel appears a bit tired. The outside has a lot of flaking paintwork. Would be an amazing looking place if freshened up. Public toilets by bar, the urinals looked very poor, and with patched up paintwork around them too. Looks poor standard. Also, paintwork in bathroom looking tatty on skirtings and flaking on walls. Carpet in room past best. Not enough to spoil our stay, but an observation.

It was a little tired in places. Our room was very hot overnight.

So many things could have been better. Shower not clean, cheap white sliced bread, frozen spinach at breakfast. We asked to move to an empty table in the restaurant where we weren’t looking at a wall- told no as tables were booked. They stayed empty the whole time. Stark lighting in lounge area, no cushions on outdoor furniture, weeds everywhere all lacking tlc. The staff were v pleasant but the whole place lacks soul

Interesting setting not far from the beach. Good food. Enjoyed the evening meal in the Admiral's Restaurant although having to choose dishes ahead is a little tiresome. Nice terrace for pre-dinner drinks. Fortunately there was a fan in the room but it was still very warm.

Hotel buildings and environs a little tired. Although heatwave was predicted nothing had been done to cool the room down (it was facing south -west!) ahead of our arrival (e.g. closing curtains, putting fan on) The management should consider installing a window blind as well as curtains to keep the room cooler when the weather is warm. Staff generally pleasant and helpful.

It would be great when time and finances are available to see some work done on the gardens. The photos of the hotel showed lovely gardens but they were very overgrown and the two trees in the front of the hotel blocked the front of the hotel.

We booked Eype's Mouth Country Hotel as a last-minute alternative after arriving at another property booked through Booking.com that was completely uninhabitable. Despite our late arrival, the kitchen had already closed, but the staff and chef went above and beyond by staying later to make sure we could have dinner. That level of service was incredibly appreciated after such a stressful start to our trip. The food was exceptional, and we enjoyed breakfast there every morning during our stay. Every member of staff was friendly, welcoming and genuinely helpful, always willing to go the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed. We were also offered an upgrade to a sea view room at a discounted rate, which was a lovely touch. When we arrived in the room, there were little cakes waiting for us, which immediately made us feel welcome. The room itself was spotless, with plenty of storage space including a wardrobe and dressing table, as well as tea and coffee facilities. The shower was excellent, and the bed was one of the most comfortable we've slept in. We had the best night's sleep of our entire trip. We genuinely couldn't fault our stay and would happily return. Highly recommended.
