I loved everything in Vila Valverde, the decoration, the view, the surroundings, everything is well laid out, the team is great, big "bravo" to Melany who is the person who helped my days get so easy and fun throughout the journey I would definitely recommend everyone to book it at least for 2 nights to admire this paradise .

Hoofdkussens waren niet fijn. En er is geen privacy als je vanuit je kamer buiten wil zitten. Dan kom je uit op een groot terras, waar elke kamer op uit komt.

This was a very nice stay! Perfect quiet place - we enjoyed the pool, the view from the balcony, the breakfast was superb, the staff was very nice. And the design of the hotel is exquisitr!

Pictures on their website are misleading. We thought a bathtub was included in each room since the picture showed it. And the following picture on their website showed a room with a suite-like living area. But upon check in, we did not have one and we were told that we should have requested one. We were shown an available room with a tub but it was smaller than the room assigned to us. The sauna required a 30 minute notificaton because the hotel doesn't want to keep it running when not in use, the indoor pool was not heated. We paid in advanced for one week and checked out after one night. The hotel refused to give a partial refund and told my credit card company that we did not follow their cancellation policy. Be warned to make sure you know what you are getting if you think you want to stay here.

My Lady n I had a wonderful stay at Vila Valverde…! We had the best suite there and the hotel staff were exceptional! I can’t say enough about the food there…everything was just over the top! Total relaxation…we will definitely be back here next year! ☺️

Rien ! Ce serait présomptueux de notre part de trouver quelque chose à redire. Le cadre très intimiste, l'hôtel en soit où se côtoie un style architecturale moderne et raffiné, le jardin, la piscine tout était parfait !

Adorei a localização, super tranquilo, não se houve barulho nenhum, nem entre quartos nem da rua. O pequeno almoço é extremamente variado e muito bom.

Our last five days in Portugal was spent at this lovely hotel just a short drive from Lagos. From the moment we drove up the alley leading to the hotel we felt that this was going to be special, and indeed it was. The reception/lobby area is adorned with artwork and modern furniture, the rooms are big (from 29 sq m), tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean, and the whole building is extremely well maintained. Breakfast is included, beautifully presented and really tasteful. There is an indoor (heated) and outdoor pool, free parking and the huge garden/parkland (5 ha) surrounding the hotel and only 15 rooms ensures that it is all very quiet and peaceful. So far so good, but what about the staff? They were all very helpful and service-minded, and always in good spirit. Fabian, the walking encyclopedia, deserves a special mention as he was our waiter at dinner each evening. He went out of his way to suggest food and wine pairing, tastefully prepared by chefs Eduardo and later Joāo. To sum it up we could not have made a better hotel choice in the Lagos/Western Algarve area, and we have already decided to come back next year.

A beautiful and tranquil location. Amazing design and beautifully appointed. Spacious room with a private deck for enjoying the sun or relaxing in the evening. Very quiet and relaxing. We had dinner outside twice and the food was exceptional with Fabian providing us excellent service. Highly recommend this location for its beauty and high level of hospitality.

Modern and sleek design hotel with quirky decorative elements, the internal communal areas felt a little too “designer-ish” and staged, therefore not particularly welcoming or comfortable. Bedroom large and light with sliding doors onto small paved terrace with gardens and views beyond. The two terrace deckchairs were uncomfortable, sunloungers would be preferable and a small patio table would be useful. Comfortable big bed, and large bathroom with excellent shower and spotless throughout. Outdoor pool located a long way away, strange place to put it when it could be an attractive feature closer to the hotel complex. Continental breakfast presented on a slate with mini selection of sweet and savoury items. Excellent fruit platter and optional eggs in various forms. We would have preferred a self-service buffet rather than being presented with various items we didn’t choose or want. Having said that, the food was excellent. Only had dinner in the hotel on the first night, impression was that it had to be booked well in advance to alert the chef that residents were dining, otherwise there was little choice. Only one member of staff available to handle all requirements - dinner service, drinks orders, check ins, reception and queries. First night around 2am the fire alarm went off, the hotel was fully occupied, however no staff or security onsite after 11pm until 6.30am! Guests were unsure if it was an actual emergency or if it was a faulty alarm, unclear if the alarm was monitored, or if the staff or fire service would attend to rectify it. Eventually an emergency telephone number was located which raised a member of staff at their home. She came to turn the alarm off after 40 mins of constant alarm disturbance. My travelling companions in a separate room slept through the whole incident, which in itself was worrying if there had been a genuine emergency. As there were no staff onsite, there was no one responsible for guests’ safety. The expectation for a 5* hotel is for 24/7 cover and someone on reception at all times in case of emergencies. We enjoyed our 5 days at the hotel and would recommend on the basis of excellent staff, good food, outstanding facilities and large, comfortable room. Staff were excellent, in particular Fabien and Melanie, who bent over backwards for us and made us feel welcome and valued. Our impression was that the hotel is perhaps a case of style leading substance, it seems to be run more like a B&B facility rather than a 5* hotel.

Il n'y a pas de porte entre la chambre et la salle de bain 😥 Tout est vitré entre la chambre et la salle de bain, on voit tout et quand le conjoint veut aller au toilette la nuit par exemple, on est aveuglé par la lumière. Lit pas très confortable. Terrasse commune au niveau de la chambre. Pas très bien insonorisé avec l'extérieur ... L'eau de la piscine extérieure n'est pas très propre et est très froide.

First the good things: great location and beautiful room. Friendly staff, although the owner only seemed interested in talking with German speaking guests. Breakfast was very good. Now the not so good things: after departing we got an email requesting to leave a good review online and any complaints or negative remarks via a direct email. That is not how it works I’m afraid. Potential guests should be able to get the full picture. Although we had a beautiful room, it was a complete let down to quickly experience that we had to pay €2.50 for every single coffee pod! No tea available. Really? In a 5 star hotel? The pool area was good, however it was nearly impossible to find any shade if you were the fourth or later guest to arrive. Plenty of seats, but no shade.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Vila Valverde. The property is beautifully designed, surrounded by peaceful gardens and offering stunning views. Everything is spotless and very well maintained. The staff are exceptionally friendly, attentive, and always willing to help — they really make you feel welcome from the first moment. Breakfast, served at the table, was delicious and added to the relaxing atmosphere of the hotel. It’s the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a few stress-free days in a beautiful setting. My stay at Vila Valverde was truly unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, Luís and Margit Tavares, together with their entire team, welcomed me with warmth and genuine care, making the whole experience feel personal and special. The hotel itself is stunning, blending country charm with elegant, thoughtful design. Every corner feels harmonious, creating a calm and refined atmosphere. Dining at Alecrim was a highlight. The à la carte breakfast with fresh eggs from the hotel’s own hens was not only delicious but also a thoughtful approach to reduce food waste. Every dish was served with care, showcasing local flavours in a way that is both personal and delightful. The room was spacious, full of natural light, and designed in a modern yet welcoming style. One of my favourite moments was relaxing on the terrace, taking in the amazing views of the surrounding countryside and the distant Atlantic Ocean. It is the perfect place to unwind and recharge. What impressed me most was how everything comes together: the elegant design, the attentive service from Luís, Margit and their wonderful team, the peaceful surroundings, and the feeling of being looked after without ever feeling rushed. It was, without a doubt, one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had recently, and I will definitely return.

My wife and I spent a dream holiday from 20.08.2025 - 27.08.2025 at the Hotel Vila Valverde Design & Landhotel. The owners were able to convince us fully with the concept of sustainability and regional products. If we wanted rest we could retreat, if we wanted to live and people, then in Lagos we fell into the nightlife. A perfect concept that the owners have come up with here. The complex is very well maintained and clean and conveys pure luxury. We enjoyed half board and each course of the 4-part menu was a true culinary delight at star level. The service staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating without being intrusive. I would like to thank the owner Luis Tavares very warmly for the friendly conversations at breakfast with many suggestions and tips. This stay will remain a lasting reminder and I assume that we will be happy to come back in the next few years to repeat this impressive stay. Thank you to the whole team for making this dream holiday possible.

This really depends on your liking. The AC is probably set on 74 at the coolest. The "soulless" feel you get that a few other reviewers wrote is spot on. There is no one working after dinner for front desk, any kind of help. If you're an introvert, crunchy granola type of person, this is for you. Not your typical 5 star resort at all.

Lovely relaxed atmosphere, great staff and lovely location. Breakfast was a great treat every morning and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The hotel was quiet and tranquil with 2 pools indoor and outdoor, a fabulous sun terrace. The rooms are luxurious and large perfect for either a short or extended stay.

This hotel looks fancy at first glance but fails badly on comfort, quality and basic hospitality. The so-called 5-star rating is misleading. In reality, it struggles to meet even a 4-star standard. From the start, things felt off. We were met in the car park by a staff member in a golf buggy. Naturally, we thought he would take us to the entrance. Instead, he took our bags and drove off, leaving us to walk. Not a huge deal, but it said a lot. Our luggage got a better welcome than we did. Inside, the hotel is a random mess of cheap-looking ornaments. Terracotta warriors, Buddhas, mirror-covered mannequins, huge pots. Nothing matches. It feels like they bought a bulk order of clearance items from a cheap factory. On top of that, the entire place stinks of artificial air freshener. It is overpowering and unpleasant. The rooms are just as bad. Plastic flowers everywhere. Cheap furniture trying to look designer. Polyester sheets instead of proper cotton. At night, a metal shutter comes down instead of curtains, making you feel like you are sleeping in a garage. Want a tea or coffee in your room? That will cost extra. For a hotel charging these prices, it feels greedy. Breakfast was the worst part. No buffet, no choice. They bring you what they call a “constellation of bread,” which is really just a small pile of boring bread rolls. Add to that a minuscule lump of butter, a tiny pot of plain yogurt, concentrated orange juice and a few wafer thin slices of fruit. For £590 over two nights, it is insulting. The staff were polite, and that is the only good thing I can say. Everything else was a letdown. This is not a luxury hotel. It is a badly dressed pretender. Spend your money elsewhere.

Beautiful country house just where we needed it to be.

Beautiful property. They need to have both heat and air conditioning options available to guests. They only had heat available when I was there, and the room was soooo hot I could not sleep. The breakfast was delicious. We were not provided a map of the property or area, it would have been nice to know where the walking trails were.

Overall a truly beautiful very quiet, relaxing place to stay. Be aware the place is very small only 15 rooms and few diners in the evening so can lack atmosphere if that is what you are looking for. Also no bar and no gym which was a little disappointing for us.

The hotel is extremely clean, always smells pleasant, plays soft music, and has a well-functioning air conditioning system. This eco-friendly retreat offers its guests a unique and responsible experience in harmony with nature. After an interesting conversation with the hotel owner, we also talked about mass tourism and environmental protection. He explained to us that the hotel takes significant measures in the area of nature and environmental protection. The commitment to environmental protection is evident in all aspects of hotel operations. From the use of renewable energy to efficient waste management, the hotel minimizes its ecological footprint: Solar energy: The hotel uses solar panels for water heating and electricity generation, significantly reducing dependence on non-renewable energy sources. Waste management: Strict waste management with recycling and composting programs is implemented. Guests are encouraged to participate in these sustainable practices. Water conservation: Efficient irrigation systems and the use of greywater for garden irrigation contribute to water conservation. The commons areas and hotel grounds are beautiful! Amazing design and art adorn the halls which are very gracious and relaxing. Views from the room were great to wake up to and open our doors. Breakfast was included and delicious and service in dining room was good. The sauna and indoor pool was relaxing and enjoyable. It was too cold to enjoy the outdoor pool during our stay, but looked nice.

We enjoyed the hotel overall but the rooms were missing small, but important 5-star amenities. For example, I had to move furniture around just to find a plug for my phone. They also wanted to charge 2.5€ for in room coffee. Staff was ok but did not give 5-staff experience. We had to carry our own luggage in and did not feel catered to. We visited during the off season but still would have expected a better customer experience.

We loved how beautiful the property was. The view out of our room was inspired. And I loved the indoor pool and sauna.

This hotel is one of those that concentrate all the energy making the place look good but forget about the costumer services. Is called a five star hotel but it closed the restaurant and leave the costumers without any food for the night, the toilet wasn’t working properly, don’t have a kettle in the bedroom, the air conditioner unit just don’t work properly , it says the breakfast was included but it was just what they give you without choice, and if you want to order something specific from their menu they charge you; we get a hair in our coffee for the breakfast, the pillows are completely bad and the general facilities in the room were really poor

Stunning hotel! We went for a short break to relax, and had the perfect stay. Beautiful, luxurious hotel. Lovely spacious rooms. There's not too many rooms so even when it's full it doesn't feel busy. A few laps in the indoor pool and then some time in the sauna was a lovely way to end the day. We rented the mountain bikes for half a day and cycled around which was great. Staff at the hotel are very friendly and attentive, and the breakfasts are the best I've ever had! All table service, no buffet. Fresh fruits and juices to start followed by your choice of breakfast dishes and sweet pastries and cakes. And to top it all off the hotel is eco-friendly and sustainable. We will definitely visit here again!

The hotel exceeded our expectations. It was surrounded by beautiful grounds where there was an outdoor pool and lovely, comfy looking four-poster outdoor beds that looked very inviting. Had the weather been a bit warmer I would have happily passed some time on one. The indoor pool was beautiful and serene, perfect for a dip and then a lounge by the pool after. They also had a sauna which I used on a few occasions which really made me feel relaxed. The food was excellent. They served the best breakfast I have ever had in a hotel and I have stayed in a few very grand hotels. It was table service, not buffet, and every breakfast started with fresh fruit and juices and a hot drink or two. The staff were exceptional and very friendly. Always accommodating. I hope to go back later in the year!

Very quiet. We were the only guests in the whole hotel. Dinner was great from a gourmet point of view but waiter lacked attention to detail. Feels like they want to get your cash at every opportunity. E 2 per coffee pod in the room is just bad judgment.

Small Hotel with 15 rooms overlooking the sea. Rooms are modern, airy and spacious. Beautiful outdoor porch with loungers. Amazing breakfast daily. Ten minutes by car to Lagos. Adults only with a very quiet and peaceful environment. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to the Algarve.

Lovely 5 star property. Threw a dinner party for friends staying in Luz. Andre was an amazing host, waiter and recommended excellent activities and beaches for us duri g cotials and dinner. Private chef was terrific. Fantastic value for the money. Quiet u derstaed luxuary resort. Highly recommend.

The hotel itself is beautiful, fantastic views, gardens and room etc. However, it is lacking a lot in terms bar/restaurant facilities, there are no options for poolside drinks or snacks and we were encouraged to go out for dinner rather than dine at the hotel. We had booked this for a few nights because it was advertised as a spa hotel but when we asked about the treatments we were recommended to go to the nearby golf and spa resort instead.

Great hotel, we had a fantastic stay although some of the services were limited due to the pandemic, the hotel was fantastic with great connectivity and a great environment, very comfortable bedrooms and deserving of its five-star rating. Only negative- we found the bathroom a bit restrictive and not quite up to standard, specifically the shower and bath.

Chambre n°6 "Supérieure" (notez les guillemets) jouxtant la cuisine, et donnant sur la salle de restaurant. Du bruit en permanence : casseroles, portes qui claques, cuisiniers qui crient... Malgré un hôtel désertique en cette fin de saison et cette période de COVID, on nous a dit que les autres chambres supérieures (bien plus chouettes selon les photos) étaient occupées. On a croisé un seul autre couple pendant tout le séjour... La literie est horrible (le matelas est creusé...) Le repas du soir inabordable si on désire y manger plusieurs fois : 50 € / personne (hors boisson), avec un choix très limité, du coup le restaurant est vide... On nous a dit que le chef visait l'étoile, commencez donc déjà par vous préoccuper de vos hôtes... L'hôtel ne possède pas de bar, juste un service de chambre. Les seuls points positifs du séjour : le petit déjeuner excellent et copieux, la gentillesse de la réceptionniste de nuit et du serveur du matin.

Todo fenomenal, el lugar es una gozada. La única pena fue que nos atendieron deficientemente al servir desayunos y comidas. Una de las camareras fue encantadora, la otra no, entiendo que la situación es complicada pero en un hotel de 5 estrellas, con esos precios, no puedes permitirle errores graves de cara al cliente. En general es un sitio fantástico que recomendaría sin duda, la pena es irte con regular sabor de boca por una actitud poco amable de la persona que nos atendió y sin desayunar por la larga espera. Los grandes sitios se forman cuidando pequeños detalles

We are very surprised this hotel was a five stars, considering the poor service and outdated design. - no answer at the gate, stuck in front of the door until a car left the hotel - parking very far from the reception and nobody to help with luggage - nobody at the reception in order to do the check-in; no answer when calling the number from the website; we had to walk around the hotel to find someone next to the kitchen - very cold staff; when asked for recommendations we were simply given a 200-page book to find beaches and hikes in the area by ourselves - unlike other hotels dealing with Covid-19, who replace buffet style breakfasts by asking you in advance what you would like to eat, they simply give you a plate of everything, which is a terrible waste of food. We were not told that we could order special items so someone came to tell us because he was surprised we ate nothing. Staff long to bring drinks or bread, making the overall breakfast experience not very pleasant - check out was the same struggle with no one at the reception Overall, despite a very beautiful park, the experience was terribly disappointing. For the price paid, the facilities are getting old (interior design, pool etc.) and the service is definitely not five stars. Would not recommend.

A beautiful, sparkling clean secluded zen resort with views of the surrounding landscape. Its a beautiful, secure property with gardens to walk around, outdoor seating areas, indoor pool/sauna and spacious, well-appointed rooms. There is a parking lot but it is a walk from the hotel entrance, up a small hill. The breakfast was adequate with lots to choose from and the staff was helpful. I would highly recommend this resort!

Wir waren eine Woche im Vila Valverde Design und Country Hotel. Waren in Room Nr.9 untergebracht und mit unserem Zimmer zu 100% zufrieden. Kaffee-/Teekocher, Kühlschrank, ein geräumiges Bad mit Wanne und Bidet, ein großes bequemes Kingsizebett und eine leise laufende AC machten uns den Aufenthalt sehr angenehm. Von unserem Zimmer hatten wir Zugang zur großen möblierten Sonnenterrasse. Das inklusive Frühstück war aufgrund der geringen Zimmerzahl schon fast familiär. Man bedient sich am gut ausgestatteten Büfett. Außerdem kümmern sich mehrere Angestellte unauffällig und schnell um Sonderwünsche. Tagsüber waren wir immer an den Stränden der Umgebung. Die nachmittägliche Rückkehr war dann immer wie "nach Hause kommen". Können dieses Hotel zu 100% weiterempfehlen.

Vi stannade i 7 dagar och hade en fantastisk vistelse. Kocken lagade väldigt bra mat så det var skönt att ha det dom gånger vi inte gick ut. Hotellet var lungt och det fanns alltid en cabana ledig eller solstol vid poolen/ministranden. Att ligga och kolla ut över den stora trädgården och den omkringliggande naturen var verkligen magiskt. Rekommenderar verkligen hotellet!

Very clean, modern,spacious, double door opening onto beautiful garden and peaceful mountain view (room on the ground level) Good aircon Staff excellent. Definitely exclusive as only 12 or so rooms. Breakfast very good but should mention the hot option to new guests as the notice of this is very small.

This place is perfect for anyone that wants a real escape to peace and quiet. It was beautiful, quiet private and tranquil. The staff were all lovely, it was clean and very well kept. The breakfast was plentiful and fresh. We only ate one evening meal which although was nice was very small portions. We will definitely be back when we need to disconnect completely. Recommended room 15 for total privacy, well worth the upgrade cost.

Lovely large bedrooms with fantastic views. Delicious breakfast options . Quiet, private, peaceful location despite being short distance to Luz (not comfortably walkable though) lovely indoor pool with luxurious outdoor pool and outdoor ‘beds’ . Distinct lack of facilities in the room ... had to pay extra for milk to go in the tea they provided in the room (very bizarre) some staff lacked warmth and despite the hotel being beautifully designed it lacks atmosphere, whilst there is a honesty bar there the absence of an actual bar means there is no inclination to sit in the lobby for a drink. I'm sure the food would have been amazing as from breakfast clearly the chef is very talented but chose not to have dinner owingto lack of atmosphere

Very nice and beautifull hotel in quiet area. Hotel is perfect in relation to my job at the Portimao Algarve race circuit. Always great to return to the quiet surroundings and nice hotel after a long day working at the noisy race circuit.
