The room was great. There’s really nothing to complain about except for the absence of a kettle (read further about this funny little detail). The bed was very soft and comfy, and the bathroom was clean and comfortable. The room was cleaned every day, the staff did their job well, and the towels were changed daily. The sea view from the balcony was very nice. The room was also very quiet, we rarely heard anyone in the hallway or in the neighbouring rooms. On my fiancée’s birthday, the staff brought a piece of cake and two small bottles of some kind of cider/diluted wine to our room, which was very nice of them. We were actually quite surprised by this kind gesture considering all the other things I’m going to mention below. The gym is good.

I’m really surprised this hotel has such a high rating. Maybe the majority of guests leaving all these good reviews only stay for 1–2 days, because otherwise I find it hard to believe the reviews are genuine. I stayed at Solymar with my fiancée for 9 nights for a post-proposal beach holiday, and during our stay we were frustrated almost every single day by how careless the staff seemed to be and by the way the hotel operates. I won’t mention absolutely everything here, just the most upsetting and surprising things we experienced. In the room, there was a “tea corner” with everything you need to make tea except for… a kettle :))) At first, we thought this must have been a mistake and that they had simply forgotten to put one in the room. But when we went to reception to ask for a kettle, they requested a €25 deposit. We were very surprised by this, as we’ve never experienced anything like it in other hotels. And the kettle they eventually gave us was covered with a thick layer of limescale inside, to the point that pieces of it were literally coming off, so we couldn’t use it. During our stay, the staff were generally very unhelpful and careless, even at reception, which is where you would most expect people to actually help you. Eventually, we learned one simple rule: whatever we wanted to ask them for, the answer was “no”. So we basically started trying to sort everything out ourselves rather than going to reception for help. By the end of our stay, we had almost developed a nervous tic from how often we heard the word “no”. 😂 For example, I bought flowers for my fiancée’s birthday and asked reception for a vase. They told me to go here and there and ask this person and that person, but nobody actually got me a vase. What a joke — in a hotel like this, getting a vase for a guest must apparently be such a unique and extraordinary request! I ended up buying a 5-litre plastic bottle of water and making a vase myself.

Ontbijt en avondeten waren prima in orde. Veel keuze. Personeel was zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. De bedden waren zeer goed en er was keuze van type kussens, zo gewenst.

De ligging viel wat tegen, was in drukke buurt met straatlawaai. We wilden de zee horen en slapen met het raam open, maar dat kon niet wegens te veel lawaai.

Recomendaría cambiar el lugar de los espectáculos ya que por el tremendo pilar y luces no se aprecia bien a los Músicos 😂

I spent a long time looking for the perfect place for such a special occasion, and I can say without any doubt that I have absolutely no regrets – it was even better than I imagined. We were incredibly happy and surprised to receive an even better room than we expected, with an absolutely breathtaking view of the Mediterranean. It made my birthday and our entire stay feel truly special and unforgettable. Everything about this hotel was exceptional. The hotel itself is beautiful, stylish and perfectly maintained, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the food was absolutely delicious. Every meal we had was excellent. The staff deserve a special mention as well. Everyone was genuinely friendly, welcoming and professional. We felt very well taken care of throughout our entire stay. I wanted my 30th birthday to be something I would remember for a long time, and SOLYMAR made it exactly that. The incredible room, spectacular sea view, fantastic food, beautiful surroundings and outstanding service created an experience that exceeded all of our expectations. Thank you to the entire SOLYMAR team for making such an important occasion so memorable. We will definitely be coming back. One of the best hotel experiences we have ever had – highly recommended! ❤️

La explicación de una chica en recepción sobre como controlaban la entrega de toallas, en ningún momento nos tomaron nota de la habitación cuando devolvimos las tarjetas que canjearon cuando las devolvimos. Por lo que nos quedó la duda de si constaría como que nuestra habitación si las había entregado.

La piscina muy llena de gente y difícilmente quede algún sitio libre desde las 9:00 de la mañana hasta las 3:00 de la tarde difícil poder coger las hamacas en la parte de arriba. Yo pondría un alquiler de las hamacas por horas para que todos lo pudieran disfrutar

Can’t beat the location. Very nice balcony. We could see the sea even from the street view room. Staff was accommodating but not always on top of things as you’d expect in a lux property. Many sweet little touches in the room that made our stay feel special, such as free drinks in the fridge, a pillow mist and a shoe rag. Fairly quiet and feels private.

All pillows were too high. Some staff struggled with English. We did not like the aggressiveness of the waitresses about drinks during buffet dinner and lunch. No room to sit at the pool. Spa had all shampoo dispensers broken or empty. How am I to ask staff about this during my shower? Rooftop bar had very limited drink menu and serves almost no food, just some nuts and chips I believe. Tried some drinks from the lobby bar, but they were not impressively made. For the price, all of this needs to be addressed. And parking is 18€ a day.

This was our third visit to this lovely hotel in 2 years, we stayed for 9 nights from the 11th of July. we are returning in 8 weeks with some friends to make it the fourth visit. We are also planning to return twice next year 💪 The staff are all great and very helpful and friendly, a BIG shout out to Esteban on reception 👍 we had a small issue with our room 142 and he sorted it straight away, the view from the room is amazing 🤩 the breakfast area outside is amazing, the food choices are huge, there is nothing to want, fresh omelette and eggs available, cooked to order. Rooms are well equipped, aircon works well, lovely walk in shower, coffee and tea facilities, mini bar with a few free drinks included. Very clean hotel, there is cleaners all day around all areas, keeping the place spotless. The pool bar staff are friendly, efficient and attentive, not badly priced beer and wine, complementary nuts and crisps, top tip sunbathe in the plastic grass area on the lower level it’s much more pleasant, the area around the pool bar is a bit to busy. Can’t understand why people que before 9 outside and inside to get a sunbed 🤔 we never failed to get 3 sunbeds on the lower level. Counting down to our next visit, can’t come soon enough. Keep up the great work 💪

Loved my stay here. The staff were fantastic, so friendly and helpful. The hotel is modern, spotless, and right on the beach. Breakfast was a highlight: great food and absolutely amazing views every morning. Already planning my next visit.

The location and see view is perfect

Problems with air conditions, it’s week in the room and not presented in all areas, hard to survive in July. The floor in the room was poorly cleaned, contained many sand. Toilet placement is not for long person.

This is a great hotel for an adults only escape. Located right in the middle of town, direct access to the beach, a pool club with great music and live DJs, a rooftop pool (both infinity pools), good gym. This hotel has it all and I’m pretty picky. The rooms are a good size, plenty of amenities and good air con. But what you all want to hear about is the cycling facilities. I was here for a purely cycling holiday in July and the facilities were great. Two dedicated secure attended bike garages with storage racks for about 20 bikes, a help yourself workshop with all the tools and work stand, dedicated washing machines for your jerseys and bibshorts, a washing bay, chargers for e-bikes. There are two big lifts from garage to street level. The only thing I would add is combination locks or similar on the racks to further secure your individual bike, but at no point did it feel unsafe leaving my bike there. No more bikes on balconies, this is the place of you’re here for cycling and a bit of luxury.

Just returned from our third stay at this fabulous hotel, and once again it exceeded our expectations. We stayed in a sea view room on the 5th floor (Room 536), and the views were absolutely breathtaking. The hotel is spotlessly clean, and the rooms are spacious with an incredibly comfortable, huge bed. The bathroom is luxurious, with two showers, and every amenity you could need is provided, including robes, slippers, a beach bag, a sun hat, and even a lovely nightly treat. Breakfast was absolutely brilliant, with everything you could possibly want. There was an amazing selection of freshly baked bread, made-to-order omelettes, cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, pastries and cakes, along with so much more. If you wanted to start your day with a glass of fizz or even a beer, that was available too! Every member of staff was friendly, welcoming, and always smiling, making you feel valued from the moment you arrived. We loved spending time at the beach club and relaxing by the fantastic pool. The bar had a great atmosphere, and in the evenings we enjoyed strolling just a few streets away where there was a huge choice of excellent restaurants. To round off each evening, we headed back to the pool bar where there was live music from fantastic bands. It was the perfect way to end the night with a drink in such a lovely atmosphere. A real bonus is the large supermarket directly underneath the hotel, which stocks absolutely everything you could need during your stay. If you’re thinking of booking Hotel Solymar, don’t hesitate you won’t be disappointed. We can’t wait to return for our fourth visit! Thank you, Solymar, for another wonderful holiday

El espacio en las piscinas no es acorde a su capacidad de huéspedes y a la calidad y comodidad que pagas y se presupone. Overbooking e incómodo, si consigues una hamaca estas pegado a un extraño@

No había olor agradable en ascensores....influyen las mascotas con el calor creo yo.

El buffet fue increible. Localización perfecta. Y todo lujo de detalles en la habitación.

El baño no estaba del todo limpio y había mucha cal en todos los cristales. Nos dieron planta baja al deslunado...ventana pequeña y oscura.

Cannot fault this hotel. We have travelled a lot and it is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Very clean a lovely smell throughout the hotel, things that normally irritate me were all catered for. Bright lighting in the bathroom, hairdryers that work well , plenty of storage space. The food was excellent and well presented. We did not use the pool much but there is a lovely beach right in front of the hotel. The only recommendation I would make is the app has a little more information in. We had to ask where the pool is as it is not in the hotel and apparently they loan you parasols which we did not realise until we left. They have free Throughout the hotel. There was pop and water in your room when you arrive and some fresh fruit. The whole experience was excellent would definitely go again. Well done to every member of staff. There is a small tapas bar near the hotel where you get a free tapas everytime you order a drink and we found all of the bars / restaurants on the front to be very clean.

Super location and hotel. The sea view room is exquisite. This is a 4 star hotel which should be 5 star. The staff go the extra mile for you. The food is fabulous and the entire hotel gives that touch of class. 2nd stay and it won’t be the last. 10/10 thank you 👌🥂

Es un hotel excepcional, tiene un desayuno espectacular, no falta de nada, personal muy atento a todas las necesidades de los clientes, instalaciones muy bonitas, las dos piscinas espectaculares, es un 4 estrellas pero debería ser un 5 estrellas, volveré sin duda alguna.

I really wanted to give this hotel 5 stars, but unfortunately I just can’t. The biggest issue is the ridiculous sunbed situation. Every morning, guests are made to queue in a corridor waiting for access to the pool and beach club area. It genuinely feels like cattle being held before being released. For an adults-only hotel marketed as a 4-star property, this is simply unacceptable and, quite frankly, embarrassing. There are simply too many guests for the number of sunbeds available, creating unnecessary stress and competition every single day. The WiFi coverage is also very poor and unreliable throughout the hotel, which is disappointing in 2026 when good connectivity should be standard. Finally, if you’re English, this hotel may not be for you. During the World Cup there was absolutely no English-language commentary for England matches anywhere in the public areas. The only way to watch the games with English commentary was to return to your room. I found that really disappointing. That said, there are plenty of positives. The beach club is excellent, spotlessly clean and in a fantastic location overlooking the beach. The rooms are modern, comfortable and immaculate, while breakfast offers a good selection with plenty of choice. The reception team deserve special praise, particularly the lovely Colombian lady who was professional, friendly and a real credit to the hotel. Check-in was smooth, and every member of staff we dealt with was polite and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, while the hotel has many strengths, the daily sunbed chaos and poor WiFi overshadowed the positives for us. In our opinion, this is a solid 3-star experience rather than the relaxing 4-star adults-only hotel it advertises itself to be. Would we return? Possibly, because the rooms and beach club are excellent. However, unless the sunbed situation and WiFi are improved, they would remain deal-breakers for us.

Pool area small for size of hotel although there is also a rooftop one, small but handy when you can’t get a sunbed near the main pool as these seem to constantly be reserved with people’s towels - only for people to appear a couple of hours later. The lifeguards try to monitor this but we witnessed this every day we were there. Simply not enough sunbeds for the amount of people using the hotel, the hotel seemed to swell in numbers due to a large wedding party, didn’t realise this hotel accepted wedding parties, too many people but not enough space. Also fixed parasols caused a few disagreements with people as putting them up affected all who were sat near them. Hotel in a good location, modern and clean. A little expensive for drinks, 2.50 euros for a small water.

Top class experience at Solymar Gran, the hotel itself is spotless throughout and situated within yards of the beach and plenty of restaurants & bars. The staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much for them. I celebrated my birthday while staying here and the hotel added a lovely touch by sending up a card a bottle of Cava and a cake on my birthday. Couldn't fault anything during our stay here.

If staying in Calpe, Spain, this is lovely hotel with excellent facilities right on the beach. Great location for exploring Calpe and the old town with supermarkets, cafes and restaurants all around you. We stayed for 7 days in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment with a full kitchen and seaview in the hotel complex so if we did not want to eat out, we could stay in.

This is a wonderful hotel. Had booked a Junior Suite and requested a high floor. On arrival we were told we had been upgraded. What can I say - Room 920 has a king size bed plus sofa and 2 chairs. There was complimentary champagne in the room and a lovely little dessert. The mini fridge contained some complimentary soft drinks together with a large bottle of water. There is a water dispensing unit by each lift area. Bathroom was immaculate with shower/jaccuzi bath and twin sinks. But what really makes this room outstanding is the corner balcony with amazing sea views from the 2 sun loungers plus 2 chairs small table and a sofa seat. Booked bed and breakfast so can’t comment on other meals but the breakfast is amazing a buffet of everything you can wish for. Maria’s freshly made omelettes are delicious. The infinity pool on the roof is lovely especially later in the afternoon when it is quieter. Did not use the main pool. All staff are very friendly and cleaning is round the clock. I really can’t find any faults with this hotel.
