Gulevi Safranbolu Heritage Hotel

Un’antica casa ottomana ristrutturata e adattata ad hotel che però ha mantenuto intatto il fascino antico. C’è un bellissimo giardino interno dove ci si può rilassare e bere una birretta fresca. Ottima la colazione alla mattina, molto varia e con ingredienti di qualità. Lo staff molto cordiale ed accogliente. Il posto ideale per soggiornare se si visita Safranbolu, che peraltro è un piccolo gioiello, da non perdere assolutamente in un viaggio in Turchia!

This is a wonderful old house, in the city center. It is very nicely restored house and the rooms are very spacious and have kept their character. As you walk in the house and in the rooms it feels like you step in the past and you experience how it must have been to live in these houses. The staff is very polite, helpful and supportive. The breakfast is delicious and very filling. We really enjoyed our stay in this wonderful hotel.

I absolutely loved the garden, the breakfast was amazing, the location couldn't have been more perfect and the staff were great! The location thought is the true winner its PERFECT.

It just needed a good clean, I've never left a review that mentions anything negative and the people here were exceptional. But the room just needed a deep clean and this stay would have been perfect, its an old building which is understandable but no reason for dust, grime and stains. However that is the only negative I have, the location, breakfast, garden and staff were all perfect.

The hotel was absolutely stunning. We were beyond delighted! A beautiful series of heritage buildings with a gorgeous garden to have breakfast. We woke up to a wonderful view over Safranbolu. The town itself is very charming.

Close from the historic center. Breakfast was great. They gave us a tiny room at the check in, my head was touching the roof and I am six foot three. I complied and luckily they changed us with a room with a higher roof.

It is indicated on booking.com that parking is available and included in this hotel. But it is wrong. You will have to park outside if you are lucky to find some place on an external parking, and you will have to pay for the parking. The bathroom was a bit dirty and there was spider's net on the windows.

Gorgeous authentic bedroom, really clean and warm.

We were unlucky with the weather, somewhere warmer for the evening meal would have been better but this did not detract from our stay.

Un lieu d'exception : un ancien konak transformé en hôtel, au cœur de la très belle ville de Safranbolu. Ce lieu semble légèrement hors du temps, il conserve intact le charme propre à ces maisons de bois et de pisé traditionnelles, des XVIIIème et XIXème siècles, qui font la beauté de Safranbolu. Mais l''art de vivre à l'ottomane est bien sûr adapté aux exigences modernes ! La décoration est choisie avec beaucoup de goût, le, petit déjeuner délicieux et le confort au rendez-vous. J'ai particulièrement apprécié l'accueil, à la fois réservé et attentif, qui contribue pour beaucoup à la sérénité que dégage cet endroit. N'hésitez pas !

Super lovely place, I was traveling with my dog which is hard to do in Turkey and they were lovely and very kind about it. So glad that I stayed here!

Right in the centre of the old town and close to the pazar markets. Location is perfect. Everything is within walking distance. A very authentic experience of the Ottoman way of life. Thank you to the staff who attended to our every need, we appreciate your kindness!!

The location is based on a hill which can be difficult for some people to walk. The accomodation has a new cafe / bar at night which can be slightly noisy at times until 10pm- not a big issue however just be aware.

This was an incredible place to stay! The room looked absolutely stunning and the location was perfect for exploring everything during our short trip. Breakfast in the garden was a real highlight, both relaxing and truly luxurious. I traveled with my small dog and we felt welcomed everywhere on the premises

Safranbolu is an UNESCO city and this hotel has a 220 years old historic building, and promise a squeaking wooden floor. We booked 5 rooms that our group occupied the entire historic mansion. Every room is different in configuration and full of the culture of its golden old days. The hotel manager Hasan greeted us at the door upon our arrival. He and the house lady Safiye served us a beautiful breakfast in the hotel garden. Their hospitality, the hotel and the township of Safranbolu do entire us a future return to this peaceful town.

The location was excellent, and the historic nature of the building over 400 years old was charming. We had hoped this would be one of the best accommodations in the area, but sadly, we had to leave early because we simply did not feel comfortable.

We were very excited to visit Safranbolu and chose this hotel based on its historic charm and excellent reviews. Unfortunately, our experience did not match our expectations. Upon arrival, we were surprised to find the hotel nearly empty of staff. Only one person was present, frequently disappearing and unable to assist us properly. Despite being the only guests, our group was given rooms on separate floors, and none of the rooms had functioning heat. There were no instructions provided for Wi-Fi, breakfast, or property rules. The staff member did not speak English, and although we used translation apps, communication remained difficult. The Wi-Fi never worked for us, and the room was extremely cold. Noise from the street was constant, and we could not rest at all after a long drive. When we returned to the hotel at 10:30 PM, the doors were locked, and we had to call the property using a working phone line to Turkey—something not all travelers may have access to. The next morning, we shared our concerns and were met with a defensive attitude. Instead of apologizing, the owner told us we had simply “booked the wrong property” because we were unhappy. We also noticed cleanliness issues: spiderwebs in the cups, and even a cockroach on the bed. It was evident the rooms had not been checked or properly prepared for our stay. Although we only stayed one night out of our two-night reservation, we had to waste time contacting Booking.com from the hotel lobby to secure a refund. The management could have made the process easier, but instead made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.

Muito flexível e até disponibilizou o café da manhã bem cedo pois iríamos viajar… Sugiro ficar hospedado na casa principal (eles tem 3 prédios diferentes) Local quieto e bem localizado. 5 minutos das lojas e restaurantes. Pequena adega disponível. O chão é de madeira e um pouco barulhento. O local é bem charmoso.

Breakfast was fresh and plentiful. It was a special experience to have it in the garden by the pomegranate tree.

Beautifully restored Ottoman houses made into a unique hotel with lovely touches such as luxurious bed linen, toiletries, magazines and bathrobes. The location is excellent, just a couple of minutes walk from the heart of the old town yet easy to drive to and free parking on the road. We also really enjoyed having drinks in the garden and having a gym and we had probably our best breakfast in the whole of Turkey.

We didn’t miss having air conditioning ( we visited at the start of September and the temperature was perfect) but we may have been hot if we’d visited in August.

Nothing to dislike but there’s no lift so lots of lovely wooden stairs but not for old or immobile people.

I loved this small hotel that truly felt “boutique”, particularly the gardens and the absolutely delicious breakfast - I think the best I had in two weeks in Turkey.

Only complaint is that the aircon unit in our room did not work effectively - it was extremely hot and humid our night there, but that’s not the fault of the hotel.

The property has been beautifully restored with thoughtful additions that add charm and comfort - e.g. hidden speakers play soft music throughout the gardens and knitted oversized stuffed animals add playfulness and color to the outdoor couches. My husband originally visited this property with his family ten years ago and he said that it’s even better now.

Such a beautiful hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much. Beautiful room Excellent location. Only negative is the otopark across the road is very noisy late into the night, but that is no reflection on the hotel at all. Would we stay here again? Absolutely yes!

The hotel, set in three buildings, has been restored and decorated with many original features. It is a marvelous example of old Ottoman architecture. It is located only a few minutes' walk from the Safranbolu village center. The hotel manager upgraded us to a large suite with a side sitting room. The room decor reflected a time long ago. The bed was very comfortable and lighting was good. The breakfast was a traditional multi-course event to be enjoyed. The weather was good for all but our last day, so breakfast was served in the garden among the buildings. The garden setting, at the time of our visit, included several blooming rose bushes. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and professional. We all cheerfully overcame our language differences.

It is not a dislike but a caution for others. In the evening, the garden area becomes a meeting area for guests and non-guests who want something to drink. Until 10 p.m. or so, music is played in the garden area that can be easily heard in the the room we had.

The room Razyie is above the kitchen, and the food smell is filling the room. Bed matrass not comfortable, bath cleaning set: shampoo and soap was the remaining of previous customer.

The hotel is close to the City Museum, where you can climb high and enjoy the night view or sunrise of the safranbulo city at any time. It is very convenient to go to various tourist attractions, especially when you turn left when you go out, there is a delicious restaurant called Kadioglu SehzaDe Sofrasi very close. This hotel has a beautiful courtyard where you can comfortably drink tea, chat, and play cards. The hotel rooms are very simple and historical, but they are clean and the bed is comfortable to sleep in. Especially the room keys have local characteristics. The most attractive thing about this hotel is the enthusiasm of the boss and Sophia. They are responsive to requests and feel at home, fully aware of the hospitality of Turks. Breakfast is also very delicious, with various cheeses, vegetables, fruits, and fried eggs. Especially the fried eggs are very delicious.Sophia is very nice. On the first day, we added another portion of what we liked, and the next day, she kindly prepared a double portion for us. Wishing her and her beautiful daughter and granddaughter more and more happiness!

Great old mansion with central location and very helpful staff. The room was great, had everything and comfortable. On-street parking was available around the hotel. The location is in walking distance to old town and all Safranbolu attractions.

Beautiful traditional building with a very cosy room. The breakfast was delicious with much to eat, the menemen especially was particularly tasty. Perfect location right next to the historical city. The staff were also always very kind (free cups of tea!) and ready to help, definitely would come back again!

Beautiful property! Perfectly preserved historical house with modern amenities (renovated bathrooms, lovely garden for lounging, etc.). The staff were also wonderful and so kind to our toddler and dog. It does get quite hot in Safranbolu in summer and there was no AC in our room, which wasn’t an issue for us but could be a problem for some. I also would not recommend this hotel (or Safranbolu generally) for anyone with mobility issues. But we had a great stay and I would happily return.

Our family of 4 spent two nights here, and I would highly recommend it to other families. We had a spacious two room suite, with large bathroom, including tub and double sinks. We loved access to the beautiful garden, with sofas in the shade, to relax, read, play cards. The location couldn't be better for exploring the old town. Service was impeccable, from check in, to helping with luggage, serving drinks and anything else we could need. The generous Turkish breakfast was delicious, with strong coffee, homemade preserves, local cheese and much more. The perfect getaway from Ankara, we can't wait to return, tesekkurler!

wonderful place, pleasant and comfortable. The interior restauration is excellent, resembles how life would have been in a 100 years old ottoman house ... but you'd find a power plug in the right place, air-conditioning or heating when you need them. I especially loved the door locks, latches and the humongous handles :)

It was wonderful to stay in an Ottoman house in the historical section of Saffranbolu. The bed was comfortable , Room was spacious , warm and interior decorations gave us the feeling we were living in the early 20 th century! The help was excellent and the breakfast to be recommended !
