The location, ambience, and staff were wonderful.
I would have liked a walk in shower as my partner has mobility issues.
Food exceptional and choice of wine . All staff friendly and very helpful . Location -brilliant
Only thing is corridors and stairwells -need decorating all look grubby .
Room clean and comfortable, good bedding (pillows especially). Excellent breakfast and lunch menu.
Lovely large clean and comfortable room overlooking the sea. Really good breakfast. Wonderful staff from reception to restaurant. Enjoyed our stay.
N/A
Friendly, welcoming, relaxed atmosphere and lovely helpful staff. We loved being so close to the beach with wonderful views out to sea. Good size room (even though we weren’t in a balcony room) Good breakfast.
Feedback for the hotel - not a complaint! The decor, especially the carpets going up to the rooms could really do with an uplift. The main downstairs areas are fine decoratively but going upstairs to the second floor reminded us we were in a pub hotel with flaky paintwork and tired looking carpet. The shower in the bath in our room was very difficult to operate despite carefully following the instructions. It was impossible to turn it on without getting immediately soaked and before being able to adjust the temperature - and soaking the floor! I would have liked more comfortable pillows. They were a bit hard, flat and lumpy.
I thought the breakfast was good with dishes to suit all tastes and the waiting staff were friendly and efficient.
Confused about this question are we still reviewing the breakfast.
Beautiful property - sea view room was lovely Breakfast room was a really nice atmosphere and setting Pasty - they served at breakfast with the fried egg brooch, was superb. Friendly, informative- excellent customer service
The car park could be better sign posted
Breakfast excellent. Restaurant excellent.
All satisfactory
Style!
Staff, breakfast, location all great.
Great location and the staff were very welcoming, especially Patsy at breakfast.
Meravigliosamente stupendo
Nulla tutto meraviglioso
Good location staff were friendly
Room was small and in the eaves and the shower didn’t seem to turn off and view from the room was of the roof

Location and the look of the property
Lots of stairs but that’s only because it’s an old property
Staff were great.. service was spot on.. check in smooth
Parking for such a large hotel car park very small... so was told most people pack on the road ..yes there is packing on the road . This was very busy and you may have to walk a long way
We had room 21 2nd floor Seaview. Large bedroom with amazing views of the sea. Very quiet and we had an amazing nights sleep. We ate there for dinner, we had scallops, prawns and the lobster were exceptional.
Nothing not to dislike
Tired and run down
Beach front
Breakfast excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Location and character
Noise and old decor
The view was stunning and the breakfast superb - lots of choice and friendly staff - dogs were also accommodated which was a massive plus.
Location great Room nice size Food good
Shower old and too small
staff excellent and very welcoming and helpful
Great room, lovely sea view. Breakfast was excellent and a really good choice on offer.
The bathroom was a bit tired with a tiny bath and not up to the standard of the room.
Nice comfortable, old fashioned cosy hotel. For the money it was excellent.
Its location
It was tired and dirty and the presentation of the food was very slap dash and therefore not an enjoyable experience
It’s location and great staff. Food is fabulous
Wish they had mini fridge in room
Quiet and close to bus stops and nearby shops and restaurants
Nothing other than the price for a one night stay
Located outside the main buzz, but it was actually a benefit, as it was calmer, less crowdy, but still only 20 min walk to the Harbour market etc. A nice airy room, even though not overlooking the sea. Really spacious bathroom. Very clean through out. Warm and friendly staff
Booked last minute for a Friday night stay, and it was quite pricy. Otherwise no comments
Location was great and staff friendly and welcoming
There were hairs in the shower on arrival so not cleaned well. Pillows and duvet very uncomfortable, hard and heavy. At breakfast the door to the outside terrace which was opened frequently by staff and visitors squeaked noisily. Very easy to oil the hinge but not thought of. Irritating and loud.
I paid £500 for a two-night stay and, unfortunately, the experience was highly disappointing. For the price, I expected a much higher standard of accommodation and customer service. The hotel as a whole is in need of some TLC, with cracks in the walls and areas where the paintwork was poor. We booked a deluxe sea-view room at a higher rate, and while the view itself was beautiful, the bathroom was covered in cobwebs that clearly hadn’t been cleaned for some time. Tea and coffee were provided in the room, but there was no milk, meaning we had to go to the bar to ask for some. The customer service was particularly disappointing. There were a few exceptions, most notably Mia, who was absolutely fantastic and genuinely went above and beyond throughout our stay. The breakfast staff were also pleasant and helpful. At the bar, I asked for a Hugo Spritz but was initially told it couldn’t be made, despite the bar having all the necessary ingredients. Thankfully, Mia stepped in and arranged for it to be made. However, we were then charged separately for each individual ingredient, which seemed very unusual and left a poor impression. Another particularly frustrating experience involved trying to charge my phone. My phone had run out of battery and, although I had my charging cable with me, I didn’t have a plug socket. I first approached reception, who directed me to the bar, and I then spoke to the General Manager. Unfortunately, I found the response extremely unhelpful and lacking in empathy or customer service. I was told that, due to “health and safety” and the risk of fire, staff were unable to charge my phone using one of the hotel’s sockets. I understand the importance of health and safety, but the way the situation was handled felt unnecessarily dismissive. I even explained that without a charged phone I wouldn’t be able to use the bar or spend money at the hotel, but there was still no attempt to find a solution.
Posizione. Pulizia
Stanza troppo piccola e materasso troppo piccolo per due persone
Friendly, professional, clean and busy with very nice rooms and very good food
No lift to top floor , no charging facility for mobility cars.
Wunderbare Lage !
The room & view were excellent
The lift
Location of the hotel is lovely in Tankerton The food was very good - breakfast & dinner
We have been staying at the Marine for many years since it’s refurb however the bedrooms and especially the bathrooms are now slightly tired and could do with a face lift
The position of the hotel is superb, directly opposite the Tankerton slopes and directly facing the sea. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The room and the en suite were very clean and fresh. Restaurant was lovely and breakfast was fresh and well prepared. Overall the restaurant was very nice as were all the staff.
There two main issues for me, firstly accessibility, we were in room 10 so on the upper floor as this was not an issue as there was a lift (of sorts?) installed which seem to only operate if you kept pushing the button. This was not a conventional lift as in most hotels but looked more like one that you would have privately installed. So the signage I think needs to be much clearer about how to operate it. There are also a small flight of stairs leading up to the last few bedrooms that really need to be inspected as the tread is unequal and does not conform to standards, so for some guests with mobility issues or those that carrying luggage or children are a little bit tricky.
Great location and staff
Superb breakfast main options, with some different offerings like shakshuka eggs. Quality full english and the chef certainly knows how to poach an egg. Air conditioning in the room was brilliant given the weather. Comfortable bed. Lovely sea view. Nice quiet room. We would stay again.
Coffee from the machine at breakfast wasn't great, Poor fruit offering, a Fruit salad would have been nice. Parking can be challenge albeit we found a car park that was low cost after advice from reception. Compact bathroom with a very small shower that would challenge those on the larger side. Some public areas of the hotel are looking a bit tired, but this didn't bother us.
We only stayed one night for a party at the hotel. Very helpful staff; room ready and clean Venue for party excellent Lovely location , easy on street parking when car park full
Breakfast could have been hotter
Wonderful staff, lovely position, great restaurant.
Hotel is in a nice sea front position with parking at the rear. Staff are extremely friendly, room is very comfortable and breakfast is excellent. Bar is well stocked with lots of seating options inside and out.
Room was on the second floor but lift only goes to first floor. Not an issue when cases were in the room but when booking need to be aware of this.
The view was amazing. Dinner food was outstanding
Nothing
The Marine is a lovely British Hotel , with amazing ocean views , friendly staff particularly Patsy in the Breakfast room . The rooms all have AC and are nicely decorated and very clean .
The Hotel and staff creates a very relaxing stay .
Classic hotel with great sea view
Not a very big room, shower was very small, cleaning could have been better.
Location and service
Difficult to park
The breakfast with the toast was delicious and Patsy the waitress was exceptional and always went the extra mile for every customer.
Weirdly an extra hook or two to hang outfits on when in the bathroom or bedroom when getting ready. Apart from that all good.
Location facing the sea and the dining area within the hotel
The stairs and difficulty finding the room the first time ! Property generally was run down apart from the orangery dining area which was lovely Not told about car park.
The property was beautiful welcoming and very clean. Lovely sea view.
Nothing it was all excellent
Is a unique property in an unspoilt area

Location .
Car park was very small . Rest all was ok .
Staff Food Bar area very good
Our room 34 needs a make over its tired with bits missing and broken compared to our previous visits and rooms stayed in
All ways welcoming
Had problems with the shower/bath
Lovely location, room was comfortable and had a nice view, breakfast was great. L
Breakfast was excellent and the staff very attentive - informal but professional. I rate them as excellent.
The building is a little dated and it's a long haul upto the top with baggage. Not really a complaint though.
Great location and beautiful inside
Bathroom was as clean as it could of been. A lot of dust round the windows
Always wonderful and amazing staff
NA
Breakfast was excellent a lot of choice and Patsy was fantastic. The staff were great when my friends wanted to stay an extra night and originally they were going to have to change rooms but they managed to work out a way so that was not necessary. The dogs were very well looked after with a breakfast sausage and cold thermos of fresh milk every morning.
Nothing really, rooms were clean, sea view was at a push and communal areas such as landings and stairs were a little tired. Due to the age of the building lots of stairs which were not great for an elderly Labrador but don't think any ground floor rooms.
Het was er schoon, over het algemeen aardig personeel. Vooral de ontbijt dames zijn heel lief en zorgzaam!
Twijfelaar als bed en omdat we met z’n drieën waren en een hondje zaten we helaas boven in.
Great location and all dining and drinking areas very nice inside and out.
Downstairs toilets as stairs are steep. Fortunately there is a disabled toilet on ground floor.
The room was very comfortable
Parking
Excellent friendly service - extra touches for dogs (welcome bag/breakfast)
Nice room, good view.
The Hotel felt "tired"; many areas were untidy; bathroom maintenance was below the standard expected for the price of the room; paint flex's on bathroom not hovered up; window frames dirty and need of painting; floor of breakfast was "sticky"; breakfast over complicated with everything ordered via a tablet.
Nicely situated just on edge of Whitstable. Nice view of sea and grassland. Freindly staff. Hotel has a relaxed nice feel about it.
Internet could be better
Lovely hotel right on the waterfront with great views from the rooms at the front. Delightfully friendly and helpful staff at reception and at breakfast. 20 minute walk along the waterfront into the centre of Whitstable.
The car park at the rear of the hotel is small and it can be difficult to get a space. There is a lift to the first floor but not to the higher floors, although staff will help with your luggage.
The location is stunning, the hotel met everything we expected
Nothing
Location
Cleanliness was low. Hairs on the bed. The water bottle provided in the room was greasy to touch and the bath wasn't clean.
Location and parking facility, dog friendly and lovely staff
Nothing
The location on the sea front was excellent. The room was comfortable, the staff helpful and the food good. There were lots of pleasant places in the hotel to enjoy a coffee or drink
On the weekend we stayed, there was a street market with food stalls, live music and amusements located exactly opposite the hotel, blocking the sea views and being noisy and intrusive, which is totally at odds with the peaceful Tankerton location. This wasn't the fault of the hotel but certainly marred our stay. I certainly didn't wish to sit out at the front of the hotel and enjoy a drink. A great shame as it is normally a wonderful location. Everything was removed by Monday morning, but our visit was over by then
Such a lovely comfortable hotel - great staff - fabulous breakfast - really nice rooms with air con
Nothing is was all great
The location was fantastic and the rooms were lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
They locked us out and turned off the lights at 11:00 so we had trouble getting back in to our rooms
Superb location. Good food, lovely staff. Fresh milk a bonus!
All of it great hotel
This is the second time we stay at this wonderful hotel. The rooms are cozy and nicely decorated, food is great and the pub adds charm. All employees were very nice and helpful. THE HOTEL has one of the best sea views
Position with sea view
The Hotel enjoys a fabulous location overlooking the sea. Inside it is modern and exceptionally clean . A big stand out are the friendly helpful staff across the entire Hotel . A really enjoyable stay .
Nothing
The location is amazing The staff are incredible— pasty at breakfast was lovely x The room was amazing with a sea view and balcony
Nothing at all !!
Expected a typical seaside hotel but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel and the staff. We had a room with sea view and balcony with very good air conditioning, the outside area was great for drinks and the breakfast was lovely. Easy walk into Whitstable or about £5 by Uber.
Nothing to dislike
All restaurant food., good, room cleaned, staff very polite
Nothing
Fantastic welcome, lovely staff and super clean room *air con in the bedroom was a god-send as it was over 34 degrees outside!* Only downside being a tiny car park which was full over the 2 days we stayed and the spaces outside the front of the hotel on the road being unavailable due to the amount of people parking for the beach - found Tankerton car park just a 7 min walk away which is 24 hours and exceptionally cheap (£1.80 between 10am and 4pm and free all other hours)
Everything was fantastic - no complaints or issues
Lovely hotel right on the seafront, modern decor, friendly, helpful staff.
Nothing much
Pleasant stay all staff were great food was good
Can't say there was nothing to complain about
A beautiful hotel in a perfect location. The air con was very welcome!
All perfect!
Location on the seafront
Rooms need updating

The room and bathroom were nicely decorated. The views were amazing
Attention to detail Cleanliness: (cobwebs around balcony railings. Peddle on bathroom bin icky. Carpet on stairs a little unclean looking (like sticky pub carpet) - Balcony chairs were placed haphazardly not placed together or with the table - we rearranged. - Breakfast was lack lustre and felt mean: 1. Did not like using a coffee machine (at the price we paid I’d like my coffee made freshly and for me) 2. Full English felt mean ( not the amount but the quality) and not very appetising - ie: baked beans were tasteless and did not look appetising - same for mushrooms (quite wet) etc 3. I would never choose streaky bacon - oily fatty and less bacon. 4. Bread was low quality - toast was chewy. And butter was allowance mean. 5. I like to have yoghurt and fruit and croissants etc offered as a buffet option - as well as any cooked food ordered. 6. Poached eggs were perfect. Sleep: 1. found the bed quite hard. 2. Nice bed linen 3. There was a group of people under our window sat at the table talking and laughing loudly until gone 12am - which kept us awake - It would have been nice if a member of staff had moved them jn or asked them to be quiet as customers were sleeping. Even with the balcony doors closed they kept us awake. Room extras: 1. We didn’t have a phone in our room to call reception to ask about the noise. 2. I think a box of tissues in the room would have been a nice inexpensive touch. 3. A couple of biscuits with tea making facilities would have been nice. 4. Two pairs of hotel (inexpensive) slippers would have been nice - for a £260 room. - although the coffee pods were a nice touch - I just feel there could have been a couple of extras like this I the room for the price we paid. Leaving the room - a whole bunch of (male) cleaners had collected outside in the hallway, waiting to clean the room. I didn’t like being watched, seen or noticed leaving the room. The air Con. was very much appreciated - but we had not controls left for us to control it.
Excellent choice for breakfast very tasty

Not being able to open the window Extractor fan in the bathroom didn't seem strong enough.
The location is perfect Staff were so happy and helpful, Breakfast was absolutely delicious, Staff in the dining area were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel
Had a nice atmosphere
Nothing really
Perfect location Lovely food Great staff
A beautiful spacious room with great facilities. Beautiful food, fantastic service and quick
Not exactly a sea view as we overlooked the carpark but it was fine. A few too many stairs for my Mum who is normally in a wheelchair for any distance. I unfortunately didn't note this on the booking so ended up with a second floor room. For our one night stay it was fine but if we had been staying longer I would have enquired about a room change.
Great location, nice hotel comfortable
Quite hard to park when busy , when staying for a while could do with a fridge in your room
The hotel is lovely and situated in the perfect place overlooking the sea. We stayed in a superior double room with balcony. The balcony views are perfect. The room was a nice size, clean and airy. The furniture is a little tired but more than adequate and the bed was comfortable. The lounge area is the perfect place to relax with a coffee or a glass of wine. The staff are fantastic, welcoming and friendly. Special mention to Izzy, who made us feel so welcome, Mia and Patsy who were just lovely and James who went above and beyond. Overall, we had an smazing couple of days.
