Room is sooo tiny

The hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly. We eat at the hotel every evening and for breakfast and it was excellent. Hotel overlooks the sea lovely views. The hotel is quite a way out of the town bit disappointing but a lovely hotel.

Our only complaint was the Room was so small upgraded to a balcony room thinking it would be nice but the furniture outside need updating. These rooms are on the top floor lots of stairs no lift. And the sink in the bathroom so small everything got wet you couldn't help it. Be careful with the cold tap the water pressure you get soaked. Shower is over the bath nothing to hold onto to get in and out. If the room and everything was a bit bigger I would have scored 10 for everything.

The friendly and polite receptionist and the staff. They were helpful and pleasant. Clean, humble and comfortable room. We had two different rooms with windows that you could see the sea, sunset and trees out there. So relaxing.

We enjoyed the breakfast, but a little too greasy.

Ideally situated almost on the beach. No through traffic but ideal for a quick walk into town or a visit to Whitstable Castle. Staff friendly and attentive. Restaurant very pleasant with good selection of meals.

Cleanliness and location. The interior of the hotel was very well decorated. All staff were helpful particularly the lady receptionist who was very pleasant. Excellent breakfast.

No lift. Stair treads were very narrow, it was not easy to carry luggage up and down stairs. The bathroom was let down by the fact there wasn’t anywhere to put your toiletries other than the shower floor. The room was very hot, even with the window open. The bed pillows were not particularly comfortable.

Our room was overlooking the beach and I liked they put binoculars in the room and staff were friendly. I was impressed how hard one of the kitchen guys worked. He was busy at breakfast and then I saw him shucking oysters along the front later on. Such a hard worker!

No one offered to help me take bags upstairs! And that they were inflexible with late checkout

Por poner un pero, las escaleras, no hay ascensor para acceder a la planta superior, lo que supone un problema a la hora de subir el equipaje y las personas con poca movilidad

Breakfast was excellent. Room had a fabulous view. 2nd floor overlooking the beach. Not a big room but it was nice and clean and tidy. No aircon but there was a fan available. Got a parking space at the hotel but this could be just luck.

My only criticism was that the wooden shutters on the window rattled when the wind blew. Annoying.

Good location. Ground floor bar and dining room have lovely views and verandah good place to watch the world go by. Staff in bar and restaurant friendly, helpful and efficient .

Room and bed far too small. No outdoor space. Rooms at rest overlook car park and fire escapes and noisy. Had very poor sleep. No fan or fridge. Rooms need a refresh. Too many steep narrow stairs. Car park limited and very hard to park.

Schöne Lage direkt am Meer. Sehr freundliches Personal. Leider mussten wir aus persönlichen Gründen früher abreisen.

Recht kleines Zimmer. Badezimmer hat schon bessere Tage gesehen. Aber alles in Ordnung und sauber.

The hotel has a cosy, clean fresh feel about it whilst retaining the traditional seaside town charm. We liked our room, great tea making facilities and tv that was easy to use. The bathroom / shower was comfortable. We enjoyed both the bar and dining areas and thought the breakfasts were substantial and we are still talking about delicious the mushrooms were - perfection. We dined one evening and the food was very tasty and generous in portions. The staff were all friendly and helpful with local information and taxis.

We had a standard room and it was a little on the small side. I had to move like a crab to get in and out of my side of the bed. We also couldn’t get the kettle under the tap in the bathroom to fill with water but just used a glass to fill. Our terrace was very close to next doors with not enough privacy really but can see why. Just meant we didn’t enjoy it as intended as would have been too disruptive to our neighbours. Minor things that didn’t spoil the stay but I wouldn’t stay in a standard again.

Penny Lodge has a brilliant 70s retro vibe that we absolutely loved in a fabulous location. That being said, the bathroom was modern, the beds were exceptionally comfortable, and breakfast was included — no complaints there at all. The only downside was a noticeable musty smell when entering the property, so a little freshening up would make future stays even better.

A couple of small enhancements could make the stay even more comfortable. A light touch of air freshening would help reduce the musty smell noticed on arrival, and a more detailed clean of the windows would elevate the overall presentation of the property.

Very good value for money hotel only a short walk from Whitstable Town centre and amenities. Also close to the coast so able to enjoy the calm and peace of the coast into the bargain. Staff were wonderful and made sure one was looked after. Goid breakfast buffet in the morning and can enjoy in calm and peace. Will definitely be back.

Breakfast is very basic. A lot of communication about the available parking while there isn’t really enough for most guests. Very small room.

This is a small hotel witha great friendly vibe - pleasantly old-fashioned in feel.

No complaints. There was a slight mix-up with rooms (another guest with the same family name - what are the odds?) which was delat with very professionally.

The location beside the beach. We also had a large unexpected decked terrace which was lovely with chairs and a table. The room was lovely and there was a good fan which was definitely appreciated.

Found out they dont do evening meals on Sunday night...we were looking forward to eating downstairs.

Love the location, right on the beach front but away from the busy town. Breakfast is amazing as well! The staff are lovely and friendly. It’s my go to for a stay in Whitstable.

The bed mattress is too hard for me but that is just a personal preference.

Loved the retro look in Penny Lodge. Really Comfortable and perfect for 3 friends sharing. Location was excellent. Breakfast was superb.

I hadn’t asked for a parking space as I thought I would arrive too late to secure one. I parked about a 5 min walk away and then was told I had a space on arrival. An email or note on my booking would have been really helpful before I arrived.

Everything was good the staff we lovely and it was very clean and tidy everywhere.

No allocated parking it was difficult at times Our room was not very big . We would have liked a sea view I didn’t realise we booked a side seat view .

In bellissima posizione nel centro della cittadina. Colazione strepitosa : infatti facciamo i complimenti al cuoco e allo staff veloci ed efficienti. Receptionist gentilissima che ci ha chiamato un taxi economico per i nostri spostamenti. Noi alloggiavamo in sette persone nell’appartamento. Enorme e con vetrate giganti che facevano gustare una vista stupenda sul mare . Letti grandi e comodi e kit di benvenuto con biscotti , cioccolata , the e caffè. Piacevoli anche i giochi da tavolo lasciati a disposizione degli ospiti.

Peccato per la moquette sui pavimenti delle camere è un forte odore di canfora e di chiuso per gli allergici è stato un problema. Mobilio un po’ datato.

Bel hôtel situé un peu à l'écart du centre ville mais face à la plage et au calme. Jolie balade jusqu'au centre. Jolie déco, chambre petite mais bien agencée et confortable. Excellent petit déjeuner dans une belle salle. Nous reviendrons, une belle adresse.

Pas de clim et ventilo bruyant, heureusement il faisait moins chaud. Tout petit parking mais là encore nous avons eu de la chance. Merci à la réceptionniste !

Die Lage ist perfekt, das Personal sehr freundlich. Alles ist sauber und man fühlt sich rundum wohl. Der Frühstücksraum ist tagsüber ein Café. Alles sehr hübsch und stimmig, das englische Frühstück war prima.

Das Zimmer war etwas klein aber dennoch funktional.

It was clean just like most hotels.

We simply couldn’t see the sea from the side sea view room that I specifically booked to be able to see the sea.

It’s a matter of personal preference, but the mattress and pillows were too soft for our liking. Also, our room on the first floor at the front of the hotel (cracking view), was noisy as it had the bar below, the drinks terrace below and folk strolling by late at night (midnight, 2 am..) and then the fitness folk began at 5am. None of which is the hotel’s fault. And we live in rural Devon so any noise other than an owl is unusual!

Excellent location on the seafront just outside the centre of town. Tankerton is less than a mile away along the promenade towards the East and a visit to the oyster stalls and harbour front is only a gentle stroll to the west. I received a very warm welcome from the receptionists when I arrived and the service at breakfast was superb.

Could have done with a few more hangers in the tiny wardrobe.

Nothing, we did not stay, as the room was like a cell, over looked the rear. Constant fan exterior noise. No parking.

The location is ideal, as it's right on the beach.Even if it is slightly south from the main town. The best part of the hotel is certainly the restaurant bar area, which in the mornings through lunch and into late evening, is a comfortable relaxed base for a lot of people to get together and then their lovely atmosphere.

We did pick a very hot weekend.However, the room we had, although good value was small and hence quite stuff in the evenings.Despite having a fan that was kindly provided from the hotel. We're also both quite tall, but we did manage to fit on the standard bed

The bedroom was much too small with the bed not even a full size double bed. Ridiculous size sink in the bathroom where as soon as you put the taps on water went everywhere.

It was very hot during our stay - not the hotels fault as they did supply fans but the room we stayed in last night was very small and with what seemed to be a smaller than average double bed so a bit uncomfortable.

The hotel is indeed on the sea. If the parking lot is full, free parking is not far.

The standard double rooms are tiny with even tinier beds. Breakfast was not very good. They serve tepid coffee in cups they heat up with boiling water to try and make up for it. The hotel is off centre.

Kamertje was heel klein. Geen plaats voor onze bagage. Maar, er zullen wel grotere kamers ter beschikking zijn. Voor de rest was het hygiënisch echt wel in orde.

Parking was difficult and because it was hot, we had to have the windows open but the bathroom Toilet window when you sat on the toilet people in the street could see you you could shut the blinds which were wooden ones, but then no air came in

Due to a system error, my original booking for a room in the hotel was upgraded to a stay in one of the separately located Fisherman’s Hut’s owned and managed by the hotel. The huts are located on the beach in the centre of town offering amazing sea views in a light, airy, beach chic room.

The staff, location, breakfast and accommodation are faultless. We have stayed many times and will be back again soon.

The facilities are quite basic but the space, view and staff more than compensate.
