Ayres Hotel & Spa Mission Viejo - Lake Forest

Location was good for us. Nice breakfast.

First room had a drippy faucet so we changed rooms from 1st to 3rd floor. Loud party next door was dealt with.

The room was large.

The coffee was terrible. Like Folgers 1965 terrible.

Room wasn't available at standard check-in time of 3pm. Also, bathroom sink clogged so water filled and drained very slowly...I reported at checkout. Hard to believe this wasn't detected before our overnight stay. Definitely not worth $270!

Room was very spavious , parking great area was very quiet.

Mattress was to soft and breakfast needs more healthy food like fruit & cheese , and need of a microwave to warm up the oats with milk.

Great location and layout of room. Breakfast was good. It was nice for me to have a place in the room to work while my wife slept.

Common areas needed to be cleaned better. All of the tables outside were dirty with dried on food and some with bird poop. We had to ask for a cloth to clean the table so we could play games on them. Most metal such as brass definitely need a good cleaning. That being said our room was clean.

The room was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable, and the shower was very nice. The pool was also very nice and relaxing.

The weekend we stayed was very busy, so we had to wait a bit for a luggage cart.

We enjoyed our stay in Mission Viejo and really liked the beautiful, upscale neighborhood. The location was convenient for visiting Crystal Cove and Laguna Beach. The hotel has a charming old-school atmosphere, and breakfast was pleasant.

Considering the price we paid, the hotel feels quite dated and is in need of a significant renovation. The rooms and facilities could definitely use a refresh.

The location is quiet, right next to toll road and not far from the freeway. The hotel is super clean, has a great complimentary breakfast and a nice courtyard.

I wish the beds were a higher quality.

I cant believe it, they have the old hotel breakfast the pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, cereal, bagels, etc. I loved it, it reminded me of the good old times.

I had such an amazing time during my stay here. My dog and I had been displaced from our home due to toxic chemicals and had to book a last minute room after a very hectic long day, Richard checked us in and was extremely helpful. Right away he put us at ease and made everything from there on out as smooth as possible. We felt very safe and taken care of and got a great night sleep. Richard you deserve a raise! Thank you for going above and beyond and making sure we had a quiet room to rest as well. The room was spacious and the bed and pillows are really comfy as well. And they have a great breakfast! 5/5 for me.

I put some funny bits into my first review of this place and it got rejected. I simply don't have the energy or the memory to redo what I wrote so instead I'm going to give it to you straight. The courtyard area with the firepit is a great way to relax at night. No cruisers, nothing. The dining area is great for both breakfast and dinner. The rooms are spacious and cozy. The spa area was a lot of fun with great couples massages! There's even a little area with artifacts and the history of the Ayres family. I know he would be proud to see his hotel still running smoothly and not fully decayed to modernity. One weird old drunk guy was hanging out at the hot tub area.

Great location and a really wonderful hotel. Comfortable, modern, parking available. Pleasant stay. Spa, gym and pool looked nice - wished we could have stayed longer to try more facilities and really get a feel for the vibe. Even the onsite restaurant looked good.

Breakfast was limited - it was good that it was included but the food options were not what was expected.

There was no smoking area at the building that I stayed at. I had to go to the other building to smoke.

Housekeeping came between 4:30 pm and- 5:00 pm to clean the room and the hotel was empty. Very disappointed !

Beeping noise every few minutes after I got into bed at 1 a.m. It persisted over the next hour so I had to get up and dress, pack up my luggage and return to the lobby for another room. Management would not give me any compensation because I book through Booking.com

Rooms were very unclean and we switched to three rooms and cleanliness was a consistent issue. Felt like the staff did not care about assigning us a decent room bc they did not check to see if the room was okay before giving it to us. First room had hair ball on the bed, second room smelled heavily of cigarette smoke, and third smelled like mold. We felt unheard and disregarded by staff

The vibes! Was a 2 ** to me. Expensive! Paid for 4 people, even 2 of us just went t sleep.

Tv in sofa area did not work. Sofa was really ugly, but probably durable for families. Curtains could use a refresh. No clock in room.

The location is nice. This facility has a spa with a masseuse available, pool area, a restaurant and more compared to the other section of the Ayres Hotel across the parking lot.

I'm scared of heights so I don't like the openness in the area that you have to walk to get to your room. I was on the top floor. Hated walking to my room each time so I just stayed there and never came out. The pillows in my room were horribly hard. Made it difficult to sleep. The bathroom didn't look like it was cleaned too well as there were lots of little hairs all over. Staff was not very knowledgeable in regards to asking for additional checkout time. I called down at 9:00 p.m. and asked if I could get an early checkout and was told to call back at 6:00 a.m.. I explained I was hoping to take a sleeping pill ( I have chronic pain) and be able to sleep in rather than having to get up throughout the night including to call and ask for the late checking check out. Didn't matter had to call back at 6:00 a.m.. I could not sleep all night and was up every 30 minutes. Didn't get a wink of sleep. 6:00 a.m. I called the front desk and was told I needed to call back at 9:00:00 a.m.. I said what a joke if I have to leave at noon if there's no availability for the 1:00 late check out. Didn't matter that's the rules. I said another alarm so that I could call at 9:00. This time I actually got a few hours sleep as I was dog Dead Tired. My alarm went off at 9:00 Sharp. I got up stumbled over to the phone within 15 seconds. Picked it up called the front desk and was told all the late checkouts were already taken. No way!! I said that is impossible. I said in 15 seconds and it took me to get out of the bed and get over the phone after the Clock Struck 9:00 a.m. you're telling me all of your late checkouts are gone. You didn't even have to put me on hold as you weren't helping another customer. You immediately were able to tell me they were gone. So somebody gave them all away prior to 9:00?? Yet I was told that they couldn't be!!

The included breakfast buffet very good. There was a nice variety of hot and cold foods, and it was good quality.

Dining room not big enough Couldn’t find a seat so didn’t stop to eat the “included” breakfast. Bar not open late enough; I arrived at 9:02 pm and had to almost beg for a sandwich as the kitchen was closed. The cook did fire up the griddle and made me a delicious hamburger sandwich which I greatly appreciated as I was famished after a long day of driving. The martini was delicious too.
