Efficient checkin. Comfortable bed. Great good in restaurant. Heaters in room worked well. Very clean.

I phoned the hotel twice to ask a question but no reply. The staff at the hotel informed me that the reception is not manned until 2pm, which is not helpful for customers.

The property was very clean and bigger then expected. Great food and the receptionist was very helpful. Nice to have a ground floor room.

Initially a bit apprehensive about the car park as no ctv and obviously in a new area. I’m sure eventually the hotel will get around to this.

La posizione, comoda per visitare il nord della Scozia. Colazione buona

Camera molto piccola e non molto pulita, la moquette meriterebbe di essere sostituita, così come gli ascigumani molto usurati. Il bagno assolutamente da rinnovare, con tinteggiatura scrostata e macchie di umido. In generale la struttura mostra i segni del tempo, meriterebbe un po' di cura in più e uno svecchiamento di arredi e finiture. Sul foglio del check in era indicata un'altra camera, più grande e con un bagno più nuovo, ma il numero e stato modificato in seguito alla prenotazione e ci è capitata una camera in condizioni sicuramente peggiori

The staff were really friendly, the check in was the friendliest I had in my week of travelling around Scotland. The breakfast was great and the room was perfect for what I needed it for.

The hotel is very well situated for people doing the NC500. Though there is not much in Castletown, from the hotel you are not too far a drive from some great attractions. Dinner was great with a wide range of options and large portion sizes. Breakfast buffet was also very good with a wide enough selection for various dietary needs. I especially enjoyed that there were fresh berries. In terms of the room itself, we booked a room with a double bed, and we were pleasantly surprised that the bed was actually king or maybe even super king sized. Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

There were no available parking spaces when we arrived, as 3-4 of the spaces were taken by a coach bus. We ended up parking on a nearby street which was fortunately fine and still very close to the hotel.

Hanno avuto un problema tecnico per alcune camere e ci hanno avvisato il mattino che ci sistemavano in un altro hotel (Pentland a Thurso). Quindi siamo poi andati arrivando direttamente li. Qui ci siamo trovati bene, anche se la colazione non con troppa scelta. In ogni caso giudizio positivo per lo staff del Casteltown hotel per aver trovato subito una soluzione.

Het ontbijt was prima en het eten in het restaurant ook.

We vonden het erg koud in de kamer en de gang ernaar toe. Het personeel was niet erg vriendelijk, we hadden ruim op tijd een tafel in het restaurant gereserveerd maar kregen een tafel in het erg ongezellige ontbijtrestaurant naast een lege buffettafel en naast een grote groep luidruchtige andere gasten. Ook bij het ontbijt mag je niet zelf je plek kiezen, als het ontbijt is afgelopen gaat ook op de seconde het licht boven het buffet uit. Personeel is verder ook vooral erg onzichtbaar, bij het uitchecken ook niemand meer gezien. Niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

Lovely friendly staff. The young (blonde) girl on reception was particularly pleasant on my arrival. Nice evening meal in the restaurant and an excellent hot buffet breakfast. Good motorcycle parking at rear. Right on the NC500.

The sound insulation in my room (22) was poor.

Restaurant in het hotel was best redelijk. Is trouwens de enige mogelijkheid want er zijn andere restaurants in de nabije omgeving. Ontbijt was standaard. Parkeren was prima, direct achter het hotel

Na pokoji na nás čekala milá pozornost pro našeho psa. Pokoj sice malý, ale s velkou a pohodlnou postelí, v centru ale přitom v klidu.

Perfectly adequate local hotel. Good restaurant. Electric charger in the parking lot. Lovely staff. Good breakfast.

The hotel also funtions as a pub, which means the parking lot gets busy and cramped. The room that was given to us, was right next to the kitchen, which meant it was noisy in the morning starting around 6am. If you are a light sleeper and are given a room in this section of the hotel, ask for another.

Loved the location, the staff, the service and the food and drinks were fantastic!

No fault of the hotel but the room was incredibly stuffy, even with the windows left open. Also. The toilet wasn’t flushed when we arrived but again, not a big issue

This hotel exceeded our expectations. Parking upon arrival was easy & we were greeted by very helpful staff at check in. We looked to eat elsewhere (Thurso) but there was nothing which took our fancy, so we opted to eat in the hotel... and I'm so pleased we did - we had the most wonderful meal. The staff were attentive, despite a coach of people arriving while we were eating. The beds were comfortable & the bath towels luxurious. Breakfast was included in our stay and we had another wonderful experience of a buffet style breakfast with fresh fruit, yoghurt & other traditionally cooked choices. All in all a fabulous stay.

There was nothing we didn't like.

The staff were very helpful and attentive, the room was clean and comfortable and the Breakfast was good quality and plentyfull. We dined there in the evening and enjoyed the food which was very reasonably priced.

A little dated the bathroom

Hotel simples e com um aspecto muito datado no tempo, claramente a precisar de um update. Estava tudo efectivamente muito limpo, mas era tudo muito velho, desde os os colchões com as molas estragadas, às almofadas já sem forma, ao quarto sem AC e cujas janelas não abrem e ao WC extremamente simples e com os acessórios a caírem. Pequeno almoço muito básico. No seu todo, não corresponde a um hotel de 3 estrelas atual. Funcionários prestaveis, nada a apontar a esse nível, mas infelizmente não é um local a recomendar ou ao qual deseje voltar

The hotel was very comfortable, excellent shower, very comfortable bed. The staff we met were friendly and helpful. Our room was to the rear of the hotel, so it was lovely and quiet.

A great place to stay on the N coast within easy reach of Dunnet Head & nearby Thurso, right on the main route. Hotel was great, we booked in advance for dinner & enjoyed a lovely meal even though it was busy with a large coach party. Lovely walk for our dog through woodland paths leading down to the local beach. Dunnet bay was also a great place to stop off at when the weather closed in over the peninsula.

Lovely staff, very friendly and helpful. The window in our room was poorly fitted, the wind blew through the gaps, we had to stuff it with toilet roll to stop the curtains blowing with the wind. Aside from this issue it was a good place to stop before the boat over to Orkney. Breakfast was great, the restaurant was good, with big portions.

The hotel was easy to find and in a quiet location. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was warm, comfortable and spotless. The breakfast was very good with a variety of options plus the staff brought over tea/coffee which was a very welcome change from having to use a coffee machine or teabag and hot water from an urn.

Unfortunately the car park was full on my arrival, however there was plenty free parking in one of the side streets nearby. I couldn't get the WiFi to work in my bedroom, (did not recognise the password) although it worked in the reception area and on the ground floor. The room did not have a view at all but as I was only staying overnight, this was not a major issue.

Its a value hotel, so not that plush. The pictures on Booking.com are accurate. It's well maintained and clean. The staff were good and so eas the food. Good value for money and I would definitely come back here if i'm staying overnight in this area. Therevis a great beach 10-15 minutes walk.

From the outside the hotel does not reflect what you find when you go inside. Refurbished fairly recently to a very high standard, the room was light, spacious and comfortable, staff very friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant extremely good. Buffet style breakfast was faultless and they even made porridge especially for my wife who had mentioned on check in that she would like some. Would definitely stay again.

There were a couple of very minor issues in the bathroom, slightly loose shower head etc which we mentioned on checkout and were told that they would be addressed immediately.

I think the walls were to thin as the guest in the room next to us had some kind of party that disturbed us most of the night.We had to bang on the wall to get them to keep the noise down.We couldn’t get a member of staff to complain to.

Breakfast was excellent, especially there were plenty of fresh fruits which I loved. And dinner was very good too. We noticed that the town had no proper place for a dinner, so we booked it at this hotel, and we were very pleased to have done so. We were on the way to catch a ferry back home. So it was a great hotel for a stop over for our journey back home.

I am a wheelchair user. Room was nice and quiet, and bathroom was big enough for a wheelchair which I was very pleased about. However there was no shelf in a shower cubical, so I had to put the body wash and shampoo bottles on a floor which I couldn't manage to reach them easily. Please install a shelf near the easy reach from the shower chair, I will be so grateful.

Radiators work really well, room was a decent size for 1 night, bed comfortable and decent breakfast.
