We were only here overnight. Wish it had been longer. Spacious room, very comfortable bed, superb sea view. Great breakfast taken on the terrace. Obliging and friendly staff. Plenty to see and do in Villefrance sur Mer.

Villefranche-Sur-Mer is an ideal spot to use as a home base if you want to visit other communities along the Côte D’Azur and Hôtel Le Provençal is the perfect place to stay. With idyllic views and a buffet breakfast, you are set up for an enjoyable experience. Both Lisa and Maggie at the front desk were extremely helpful when it came to planning our outings. Also Mathias at the bar was a exceptional, charming guests with his piano playing and serving some amazing french wines. I guess the only downside to this beautiful hotel are the thin walls which carry sound easily. But a small price to pay for this charismatic hotel.

My wife and I have stayed at the Provencal many times - a recommendation in itself. It is a delightful hotel in a great location being a short walk from restaurants and public transport links. Our room was spotlessly clean with fabulous views over the bay. Breakfast is excellent with a good choice of hot and cold food and very well organised by Maria. The staff are wonderful, friendly helpful and professional, all managed by the magnificent Maggie, a lovely young lady who cannot do enough for guests. We have booked again for next year!

What a picturesque and beautiful stay! Everywhere you turn in this hotel is a pretty corner, decorated beautifully with finishing touches. Outstanding service, very friendly staff, 24 hour reception/bar service!! A beautiful piano in the lounge, with live music at weekends. The breakfast was very good, and we were given a little going away gift - a small box of mints but a special touch. Our room was upgraded to a triple with a sea view so we had lovely space with small balcony, and a beautiful view. We honestly did not want to leave.

If you want an original, authentic experience, give this a try! We stayed for 2 nights. The staff are very nice, and it's very eco-minded, but quirky! You need to book a sea-view room, and the view is lovely, otherwise the rooms face a busy street, and could be noisy. The sea-view room we had was quite basic, and old-fashioned. There is no safe, and most of the plug sockets were quite difficult to reach. The beds were clean and comfortable though. If you agreed with their eco policy, to reuse towels etc, then you had to hang a little green ribbon on the door handle, which we did, then found that our room had not been cleaned, and had to make our own beds! In an emergency, there was a whistle hanging on the wall in the corridor, which you had to blow!! At breakfast, there were plenty of croissants and types of bread, plus home-made granola, jams and yogurts etc. Scrambled eggs were provided, but you had to cook your own boiled eggs or pancakes. It was lovely to have breakfast in the garden. The hotel also had some talented musicians, who played in the evening. So it was quite an original experience!

Great location, Fantastic staff.

Well located within 5-7 walking distance to the harbor/marina waterfront strip. The rooms + BR are clean and appropriately 3* basic! The terrace is charming (tho mosquito bites omg). The breakfast small but delish + adequate (chia pudding omg amazing). The sea view rooms have a tiny Juliet balcony with pretty views (water is a sliver view, mostly pastel buildings). Like everywhere in the riviera : for the price of nearly 350€ per night for double Occupancy the size of rooms and Br is small but we never felt cramped. The night sleep was good on firm mattress (but hard pillow). No street noise audible however loud neighbors will ruin it for you if you’re light sleeper as walla are paper thin. The AC in room was amazing (during heat wave). The staff are nice and helpful. Note you get basic toiletries (but no body lotion). Plage de marinneres is a 15 min walk. Surrounded by plenty eateries. We spent two nights in VSM and this place was perfect for our group.

This place is superb. The staff are excellent, the property is amazing and the service is great. I would stay here again.

This is a little gem (family owned) with sweet guitar evening music and views of the mediterranean. It is up a hill a little but walkable. A park is just around the corner. The staff are so kind and caring. The breakfast is very good and well organized and you can sit out in the garden or inside in air-conditioning on hot summer days. The room was very clean. An older hotel however it has maintained its standards and charm. Not pretentious, comfortable and felt like home. Oh, did I tell you they have a piano, books, games and a bar that is open 24/7 yet the place is quiet. I will return only to this hotel when in VilleFranche Sur mer.

This little gem has 5 stars for me all the way! Their staff was super nice, friendly and very attentive. The service was as good as one gets in a 5 star hotel. I will definitely come back!

Incredibly helpful staff in a charming 1920’s hotel. The hotel has aged gracefully and the garden is beautiful. Rooms comfortable and daily room service with a sustainably focus.

The staff at the Provencal were excellent. A lovely warm welcome when we checked in, and loved the art deco styling - the hotel looks beautiful. Mathias and Lucio who both played beautiful music and looked after the bar really stood out. They made an excellent aperol spritz, gave us jazz club recommendations and really looked after us. The pizzas and cheese and meat plates were really good too. Being able to borrow beach towels and umbrellas was really useful. There was lots of choice for the morning breakfast and the location was great to easily walk into town. A really well run place, with a family vibe that made our stay fantastic. We'd love to return.

We stayed at this hotel and the experience was great. The atmosphere and staff are great, music live every evening and very good breakfast. The hotel is 2-3 min walking into town, restaurants and the great beaches of Villefranche Sur mer.

Quaint family run hotel with super friendly staff, comfy beds, clean rooms with great A/C, and an amazing breakfast!

We know Hôtel Provencal since now soon 20 years and come back when we can ! Perfectly situated with a walk to Villefranche-sur-Mer old ton and beach, but still in a calm lication with no real disturbing nice. The personnel is always helpful and 24/7 reception. The breakfast is nice and outside in a nice patio. The rooms are of a nice size and well organised.

Beautiful art, deco, boutique, hotel! We arrived early. We had been traveling for 15 hours with a cat. They were able to get us in our room for a nominal fee. The staff was very attentive to our needs. The room had a beautiful view of the water. We enjoyed a very plentiful breakfast, had dinner at the bar. Food was very fresh very good food was wonderful staff top-notch. Live music as we ate dinner outside was an extra we and was wonderful!! 10 out of 10!

The hotel is in a great location between Eze and downtown Nice. Walking distance to many shops and the beach. Located in a quiet street with beautiful views. The room was cozy and impeccable. We enjoyed sitting in the beautiful garden and listening to a fantastic guitar player. The bartender and the front desk staff were helpful and friendly. Will book it again.

This is a lovely old hotel perched on the hill above the water. It has a relaxed and gracious ambience, with attractive indoor and outdoor common spaces, a friendly and helpful reception staff, and a lovely breakfast room with seating in a shaded garden. The breakfast is very good, and well staffed to maintain the broad selection and help with the beverage machines. Upstairs, there is a small bar between the lounge and the terrace, and someone is always available to serve drinks and snacks/light meals from a limited but adequate menu. The rooms are pleasant and comfortable. We especially enjoyed talking with Mattias, who was on bar duty most afternoons. We are indebted to Lisa on the reception desk, who helped us find our way to an urgent care clinic in Nice that was open on Sunday, as well as ordering a car to the Nice train station when we decided not to brave the odd little Ville-Franche station again. They were both so helpful and enjoyable, it felt like ending a visit with friends.

Clean property, friendly staff, great location. Only downside is bed mattresses are very hard, not comfortable unless you prefer your mattress very firm and also no in room safe.

Nice family owned hotel in VIllefranche Sur Mer. Close to old city, beaches and restaurants can only recommend to stay at Provencal.

The hotel was in a great location, very clean with amazing views. The staff were incredible friendly and helpful. The hotel breakfast was perfect and has so many options and the courtyard to eat was super cute. Would highly recommmend staying here. Was close to the town and beach. Bedrooms were spacious and have aircon but we mainly had the window doors open because the view was just perfection.

We loved our stay last week! Matthias took good care of us several times on the patio. Breakfast was excellent and our room, comfortable. The front desk kindly loaned us an adapter for our devices. We had a sea view, which was spectacular. Excellent location. The short walk to town for dinner, the beach, and to board our sunset cruise were each delightful and easy.

My wife and I have stayed in Hotel le Provençal many times and have never been disappointed. Our room was a good size and spotlessly clean. Breakfast is excellent with a good range of food available. The situation is very good, close to public transport links and to the beaches. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. Maggie ( the boss) is a delightful young lady, nothing is too much trouble. In fact all the staff are very helpful professional and friendly. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

3 days in Villefranche-sur-Mer was not enough, but the hotel's lication and amenities mrant we dodnt waste a moment. Great location, with an incline to the front door to justify the extra glass or two of Rosè, convenient to all things, great information, attentive and professional staff. Recommend highly.

The property was a little underwhelming. A lot of noise from other rooms at all hours. Did not get the room that I thought I was booking. Breakfast was wonderful.

This was my third stay at this hotel. First on my own and twice with my sister. Beautiful hotel both outside and inside with an old-fashioned charm . Great location for walking to the restaurants and bay. Very close to bus stop and train station so easy to get into Monaco, Nice or Antibes which we did during our stay. Great view from room with a small balcony just to look out from and admire the lovely scenery. Room clean and tidy. Very very welcoming staff at all levels. Beautiful garden to have breakfast in or to relax later with a glass of wine. Coming back again in September as both hotel and Villefranche sur Mer so beautiful.

Beautiful hotel and amazing staff

The Hotel le Provencal is a lovely, welcoming place to stay. We were there for three nights in September. The weather was perfect and the location was convenient to everything: the waterfront area (shopping and restaurants) was an easy walk, the beach was a little farther but well within walking distance, the bus stop was less than a block away. While in Villefranche-sur-Mer, we took the bus to Monaco for a fun day trip. All-in-all, we enjoyed our stay!

The property was in keeping with the area.Fantastic views of the bay from the many balcony's. The staff were fantastic especially Kamila who helped us .Great help yourself breakfast.

It is a nice small hotel. Centrally located. Great staff. Parking is not easy. very small lift. The walls between rooms are very thin. I could hear the person in the next room talking on her cell phone.

The property was quaint and located in a convenient area of town. The staff for the most part were extremely helpful and friendly with the exception of the man who worked night shift on Sept 14/24. He was extremely rude and unhelpful with our request for a taxi. Otherwise, all The other hotel staff were extremely kind and went above and beyond our expectations. The elevator definitely needs to be upgraded. The garden patio was the perfect spot to sit with a glass of wine and a book. Overall, a four out of five star rating is appropriate for this lovely hotel.

This wonderful traditional hotel takes us back in time. Met by a generous staff offering personalized service at all times of day and night. Truly a rare experience. amazing breakfast buffet enjoyed inside and out in the small garden under orange trees and a towering palm with mourning doves calling and landing close by . It feels like 1 or 2 star hotel at best, the room had the ac and the hairdryer, which were the only good thing I can say about it. Uncomfortable beds, the shower where I, a woman size small, couldn’t wash my hair without my elbows hitting the shower walls, nowhere to put your toiletries, neither in shower, nor at the sink. The breakfast was ok, the staff was ok. There is no spot near the entrance where you can park to load/unload your luggage. Wouldn’t recommend more than one night and only if you need to be in the region.

Beautiful little hotel in a great area of Villefranche, only a few streets up from the water. Rooms are fairly spacious, clean with a fully renovated bathroom. We had room 111 with the terrace balcony which we payed 20 euro extra for. Breakfast is great with decent options (French style food plus eggs, waffles, crepes, chia puddings, museli, fresh orange juice). Hotel provides beach towels and beach umbrella free of charge. Courtyard is very cute to sit in and enjoy a drink or read a book. Our only issue, albeit very minor, was the large number of mosquitoes in the courtyard, however with some bug protection this would be fine. Thanks Hotel Provençal, we definitely recommend!!

We stayed at Hotel Le Provencal for 2 nights in a room with a beautiful sea view on the 2nd floor. The room and bathroom were small and clean. The french doors leading out to the small balcony with a sea view was our favorite part of the room. The air conditioning worked very well. The hotel was very charming. There are seats outside where you can have a drink from a small bar. The hotel is a short walk from the beautiful town and beach. We did not need to pay more to be any closer. The breakfast was very traditional. I would have liked more fresh fruit, tomatoes and some greens to be included at the buffet. The people at the front desk were always there and happy to help with anything. This is a beautiful place to spend time away from the crowds in Nice.

Lovely old fashioned hotel and the room we had enjoyed a sea view (and even a view of fireworks one evening). However, maybe not suitable for older people as the road leading up to the hotel is quite steep which could be problematic in extreme heat. The breakfast was excellent with a lot of choice. Hotel staff were very friendly.

Veldig bra hotell, og superhyggelige ansatte! Kjempegod frokost. Eneste jeg har å utsette er at vi ikke kunne skru ned temperaturen på aircondition. Veldig varmt å skulle sove i 19 grader (som var minimum) når det er 40 varmegrader ute. Man får ikke kjølt seg ned noe sted.

Great place to stay...adjacent to Nice and close to Monaco (yuck!) without the hustle and bustle. Great views overlooking the bay with parking (paid) close by. A nice hilltop place to hang out. And the dining along the Villefranche waterfront is a short, albeit hilly walk away eith a really nice selection of restaurants. Pay up for the view. Highly recommend!

This is a beautiful boutique hotel in Villefranche-sur-Mer, a 30ish minute drive from Nice proper, and a 45 minute walk from the gorgeous Coastal Path of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. This hotel provides a great value: central location, sea views, charming building & courtyard, AC, great service. Definitely add on the breakfast, it is well worth it - it's the best hotel breakfast we had in three weeks in France. The small bar & TV area was great for watching the Olympics opening ceremonies with an aperol spritz in hand. This is not a fancy hotel, but it makes up for that in charm and service. We would absolutely come back. The only consideration would be for those who use a wheelchair or are limited in walking - the walk back to the hotel from the ocean-front area is a steep one. Once at the hotel, there is a small elevator. But the stairs, particularly if you are on level 3 are no joke. Enjoy!

We loved our stay at this art deco hotel which has been sympathetically restored. The outside area where you could eat, drink or relax was surrounded by really attractive plants. The service was friendly and on the whole good. Breakfast well worth paying for. Things to be aware of; smallish rooms, located up a steep hill from the front, if you want a taxi book in advance.

Everything was absolutely great! Very friendly staff and very helpful. I will absolutely come back and will definitely refer it out to my friends.

Kamilla (sp?) was wonderful at the front desk as well as the other young lady! Nicholas was a great bartender as well!

Old fashioned comfortable and friendly

I guess this is a typical French old fashioned provincial hotel. Room was small, shabby and poorly equipped. Badly in need of a bit of an update and redecorating. Very small lift. Difficult parking sutuation if you have a car. Not a bad breakfast. They operate a strange "ecological" system which involves tying a green ribbon to your door handle... great... so we did it... only to return to our room to find that it hadn't even been made up. Seemed like just an excuse to save on the house - keepers time. Not sure on the ecological relevance. Villefranche is lovely... but I don't think we will stay at Hotel Provencal if we return.

We loved staying here! The view was unbelievable with access to 3 balconies, hotel was very clean, staff was friendly, and town was beautiful. We hope to be able to come back again in the future.

Le provincial was a perfect hotel for our stay in ville franche sur mer. Located just up the hill it made our travels to and from the waterfront very easy. So many great food options and shops line the small beautiful streets and set the most spectacular waterfront. The hotel was the perfect option to use as our base you bounce around the south of France with a train right in villefranche that gets you to nice, eze, Monaco and menton all within minutes. We will be dreaming of our stay there for a long time and hope to be back soon!

We absolutely loved our stay here. The property is very clean and easy to find, with modern design updates that made a obviously classic hotel feel like a total hidden gem. The staff was so friendly and helpful and the breakfast was amazing.

Great location, for us…spent five nights, very simple accommodation/clean, bed and breakfast (extra:))…front desk/employees try their best to accommodate. No carpet in the room and love it. If to come back, would stay there again (if same room or better)

Lovely hotel for a short stay in Villefranche-sur-Mer. Room was clean and comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. Plenty of hot water and shower very forceful - only criticism is that the shower head was a little too low for us. Buffet breakfast is excellent, and can be taken outside in the garden or on the terrace, which is very pleasant. Would definitely recommend and expect to visit again ourselves.

We had a lovely stay. The hotel is perfectly located for the old town, just 1m walk away, and only 5m to the beach. The hotel has great character and with breakfast included served in their pretty garden we could not have asked for more. All the staff were really friendly and helpful too. We wont be looking any further next time we visit the gorgeous Villefranche.

Fantastic location

Very good location

Very clean and cozy hotel close to everything in Villefranche. The AC could have been better when it's 30 C/90 F outside, particularly in July when it's very warm at nights as well. The breakfast in the garden is lovely, and the overall feel is very homey.
