El Taj Oceanfront and Beachside Condo Hotel

Great location on the beach in a quiet area but only a few blocks from the hustle and bustle of Playa. My room was very comfortable and beautiful.

While it’s on the water, there is no sand/beach there to walk or relax on. You would need to walk further up to access the beach. The pool was nice but quite small and there were only six sun beds.

C'est la 2eme fois que nous venons à Playa et que nous séjournons dans cet apart hotel. Autant vous dire que c'est une valeur sûre. La gentillesse du personnel, la propreté des lieux, l'emplacement central mais au calme, que de bons souvenirs. Vous pouvez tout faire à pied. Le logement que nous occupions etait top, de quoi faire à manger avec le nécessaire, de quoi laver notre linge. Le logement etait entretenu régulièrement. Le personnel est juste adorable, toujours un sourire ou petit mot gentil pour s'assurer que tout se passe bien durant votre séjour. Nous étions côté océan donc la partie la plus calme. Dommage que leur plage ait été abîmée et ne soit plus accessible mais ils n'y peuvent rien cela est du aux intempéries et ouragans qu'ils ont subi. Donc en effet si vous voulez la plage il vous faudra vous déplacer un peu plus loin. Mis à part cela je vous assure que vous passerez un très agréable séjour dans leur locaux!

L'emplacement est idéal, tout est à proximité plages , rues piétonnes avec nombreux restaurants et magasins divers. Appartement très spacieux , tout est très bien pensé, beaucoup de confort (comme chez soi) il ne manque rien ! Nous n'avons pas testé le petit restaurant vue mer . Les piscines sont très belles ,on a beaucoup apprécier.

Great location- and loved the surrounding streets and shops. 2 large swimming pools in the complex. My daughter used the fantastic gym facilities also. Our apartment was beautiful.

We had a great stay! The hotel was very comfortable and in an excellent location. The parking was convenient and well organized, and the service was excellent throughout our stay. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Overall, a very pleasant experience, and we would definitely recommend this hotel!

The only downside was that a few things, such as the coffee machine and the grill, did not work properly. The staff came promptly to try to help, although the issue was not always resolved.

Habitaciones amplias, limpias y muy bien equipadas. Cocina completa y enceres nuevos y de todo tipo, incluyendo lavadora/secadora. Dispensador de agua potable caliente y enfriada.

A pesar de estar frente al mar, no tiene playa alguna, y lo poco que tienen de orilla, está lleno de sargazos y algunas lanchas pesqueras donde termina el agua color chocolate. El olor a azufre es intermitente, dependiendo del estado del sargazo. La pequeña pero agradable piscina, y el jacuzzi privado de nuestra habitación, no se puedo disfrutar del todo debido al olor y las vistas del mar con sargazo. Se que esta situación es ajena al hotel, que fuera de esto es estupendo, pero si que afecta negativamente la experiencia de hospedaje

La ubicación, la comodidad de tener cocina y la terraza privativa con jacuzi.

No había tendedero y una tarde bajamos con las toallas sucias porque estaban empapadas tras una lluvia para el cambio por limpias y nos indicaron que no había más disponibles.

la taille du logement très spacieux chaque chambre avait sa salle de bain,, bien équipé (le nécessaire pour faire le café durant les 3 jours), l'emplacement proche 5ème avenue, les terrasses privatives (dont une avec jacuzzi ! ), les petits plus compris tel que 10 minutes de massage, accès salle de sport.....

un égouttoir pour la vaisselle ou tapis, et torchon vaisselle, mais bon rien de très gênant ;)

Ótimo hotel para ficar com a família porque o quarto é como uma casa, cozinha bem equipada, camas extremamente confortáveis, funcionários sempre educados e prestativos, piscina ótima e ambiente muito agradável. A jacuzzi foi a cereja do bolo.

A praia em frente não é das melhores e com o acúmulo do sargaço não estava legal.

Tiene una hermosa piscina muy zen, el jacuzzi en la habitación excelente, camas muy comodas, la regadera tiene buenísima presión . El personal muy amable. El estanque con peces koy divino. A dos cuadras de la quinta avenida , estación de ferry caminando...Estuvimos de paso, pero nos hubiera encantado disfrutar más el hotel.

Solo me hubiera gustado que el precioso camastro de la alberca estuviera en condiciones para usarse y que el área de bar junto a la playa fuera igual de lindo que el hotel.

A praia em frente ao hotel não é boa, é uma curta faixa de areia e tem uma marina, porém não atrapalhou nossa viagem pois o nosso objetivo em Playa del Carmen era explorar os parques e os cenotes.

Adorei o hotel, sem café da manhã, mas com cozinha completa, fizemos nosso cafe da manhã todos os dias. Equipe maravilhosa, nos atendeu de pronto com tudo que precisamos. camas confortáveis, limpeza nota 10. se for pra colocar um defeito nesse hotel, seria somente a falta de uma praia. Mas como fomos com o intuito de fazer passeios, não fez a menor falta.

Tout était parfait l’emplacement a 2 min de la 5 eme avenue sans entendre le bruit la nuit une petite plage pour admirer la mer, la gentillesse du personnel toujours à l écoute. L appartement était très propre soigné très bien équipé. La piscine magnifique avec le jacuzzi ( la dame qui surveillait la piscine était adorable et de bon conseil). Le parking très pratique pareil les gardiens étaient supers. J avais demandé pour l anniversaire de ma fille une petite intention on a même eut le droit à une super deco et une bouteille de vin offerte elle était ravie. Je le recommande à 100% si on veut être libre de nos mouvements et pas être dans un hôtel tout inclus.

This gem of a Condo complex was brilliantly located. Facilities were great, although the gym was off site, but it was just around the corner to our complex so was not an issue. The beach restaurant was fantastic too, food and staff were excellent and you could even organise your fishing trip from the beach restaurant and they cooked your catch, what a bonus! Located close to the centre of the main town, where all the great restaurants and bars are located, so all in all I would give this Condo complex a 10 out of 10!

We had a few issues with things not working, like the fan in the main bedroom, the outside lights and the jacuzzi lights did not work, maintenance did resolve some of the issues but not all, but these small issues did not impact our holiday in any way.

My partner and I are travelling round Mexico with our 8 month old daughter and this was a perfect place to start our trip. The condo had all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay. The pool was gorgeous and the jacuzzi outside our room felt like our own private one! Being off season, it was lovely and peaceful. It is in a great location to walk to the main strip of Playa Del Carmen where there are plenty of bars and restaurants. Thanks for a brilliant experience. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting playa del Carmen.

Negatives? The England v Argentina result didn’t go my way and the seaweed meant we couldn’t go in the sea. Two things that El Taj can’t control. No negatives at all from me!

Housekeeping kept rooms very clean, property was nice- good location .

The bell staff took some of our property. We were first placed in a penthouse room and after we started unpacking they informed us that hot tub did not work- we rushed to repack items and I accidentally left a pair of semi expensive shoes and a power charger in first room. The elevators did not work and we were on the 3 floor with 3 large suitcases. When I noticed my shoes and charger were missing a few days later- I was told they were not there- no one else had occupied that room so one of the 2 bell staff that assisted us obliviously took them. I tipped super well so was a little disappointed. The elevators in both buildings did not work consistently so take that into consideration before booking penthouse. Also ask if everything is working before taking room assignment.

Het appartement was heerlijk. Het was groot en alles was aanwezig. De bedden waren groot en lagen heel lekker, de locatie was top, midden in het centrum maar je hoorde niks van de clubs in de avond. De jacuzzi was een fijne aanvulling van het verblijf. Je kunt gebruik maken van 2 zwembaden, hier kwamen wij pas later achter.

Het was aan zee maar je kon geen gebruikmaken van het strand. Het water kwam hoog en het bekende zeegras probleem. Ook stonk het behoorlijk als het er lang lag maar daar kan het verblijf niks aan doen verder.

Apartma je bil velik, udoben in čist. Lep bazen. Brisače za bazen smo dobili v lobiju, wifi deluje - vse brez doplačila. Osebje je bilo zelo prijazno. Lokacija je bila odlična izhodna točka za izlete - pick up point.

Hotel je ob plaži. Žal smo bili v obdobju ko je sargasum zelo močen, zato je tudi vonj dokaj močan. Vendar to ni kriv hotel, proti naravi ne moremo nič. Prvi dve noči je zmanjkalo elektrike in so prižgali agregat, ki je zgleda bu ravno pod našo sobo. Vendar so po opozorilih tudi to uredili.

It was our first time as a family staying in Play Del Carmen so I have nothing to compare. The location worked well for our needs. Walking distance to food, convenience store(s) and with the condo's added accommodations golf cart & bikes made getting around & to the public beach an ease.

The beachside pool wasnt open and only opened the day we were leaving. Luckily they do have a very unique pool available that provides a very Bali experience. The other concern was the elevators not working. For us it wasnt bad we were only 1 floor from "ground" level and capable of making the climb. Just make sure to make accommodations if they're still not working

Amazing location I could walk everywhere!

The sargasm on the ocean is strong over the summer but even with that I would choose to stay here it’s so nice

El Taj has become our home away from home. The place was Beautiful, comfy, quite & so restful. We created so many memories from El Taj. The service & care from everyone was outstanding. If you want the best stay in playa, there is no other than El Taj.

It smelled like my worst nightmare because of the seaweed and they gave us a room on the third floor with no elevator. Try climbing it drunk at 3am with that smell.

I got the 3 bedroom/3 bathroom penthouse with ocean view. The place was amazing with such beautiful view. The full kitchen was very helpful since I traveled with my husband and in-laws with my 3 year old. The staff was very friendly and helpful with our luggage since the elevator on our side was out of order and we were located on yhe 3rd floor. I recommend the transportation service they offer from the airport to the condos and back. Very professional and even if our arrival got delayed, our driver waited for us.

That the elevator on our side of the building to the penthouse on the 3rd floor was out of service. I do appreciate however the staff helped us take the luggage. But I mean we paid alot to have the best and the elevator issue had us upset arriving from our tours. Having to climb all the way up there at the end of the day. Also the pool on our side of the building was not working, we were offered the pool on the other side of the building. But it would be such a hassle having to come downstairs from yhe 3rd floor then up afterwards. We ended up just using the jacuzzi at its lowest level for my toddler to play. Lastly I didn't like the VERY strong smell of the seagrass I know its out of their control but it was very bad and looked bad for the condos.

There is a very bad smell throughout the rooms and property. It is extremely strong and gave my kids migraines. They did not disclose this to us ahead of our stay. It is really not tolerable. We have the fans and AC on with all of the doors and windows closed and cannot escape the smell. The pools are also very dirty and property needs a lot of updating. It is definitely not worth the price you’re paying.

The team at El Taj was amazing! From front desk to bellman to housekeeping and restaurant team- everyone was so pleasant and took a great care of us at all times! Room was spacious and clean, 2 pools, food at the restaurant is deliscious so don't forget to order from there. They have plenty of amenities for children and for the beach so you don't need to carry anything with you. If ever back in Playa we will definitely come back! Thank you for making our vacation so pleasant and smooth.

Lo más que valoro en mis puntuación es que la información que está en Booking cuando llegue al lugar se corresponde. El apartamento está muy cómodo, grande, la cocina muy bien equipada y limpio. El personal muy amable y profesional. Siempre dispones de agua para beber. La batidora de vaso, muy práctica para hacer batidos de frutas. También está muy bien el pase para el Gimnasio super equipado, hasta con clases dirigidas. La ubicación es excelente, muy cerca de la 5 avenida, restaurantes, supermercado, etc y de las discotecas. La tranquilidad, no se escucha nada y puedes dormir tranquilamente.

La pena el sargazo, que no pudimos disfrutar de la playa , ni instalaciones . Nos ofrecieron cambiar de hotel, pero desistimos ya que estábamos muy cómodo y el mayor tiempo del día estábamos en excursión y disfrutando de Playa del Carmen. El sargazo es algo de la naturaleza y no tiene culpa el hotel. También nos encontramos con los ascensores averiados, pero tampoco fue mayor problema, el personal de encargo de las maletas

Great location with access to the beach and the main strip of Playa del Carmen,. Condo layout allowed us to cook our own meals. Comfortable bedding. Parking allowed us to do road trips and amusement parks, which were a highlight.

Seemed to have the most exposure of anywhere we visited to the rotting seaweed smell during sargassum season. Had no soap for two days. Decor was quaint but a little dated.

The room was very spacious, though looked a bit dated. Staff on site was friendly. Nice pool area from what I could tell, though we weren’t able to use it.

Unfortunately I can’t say much about the hotel, we arrived pretty late at night and immediately noticed an incredibly rancid smell. Thinking it would get better in the morning, we stayed the night, but unfortunately it got even worse the next day. Apparently it is seagrass season at playa del Carmen, which we didn’t know, there was also no notice or any kind of „warning“ prior to our arrival. I understand the hotel is not responsible for nature, but the smell basically made me unable to leave the room. We couldn’t use the pool or let alone the beach, since stepping outside basically made you throw up immediately. Again, I am not blaming the hotel for the excessive amount of seagrass but I do think there should be some kind of warning or notice issued in these circumstances. There wasn’t a single guest anywhere outside, the pool and beach were completely empty so I firmly believe we werent the only guests affected by this. Unfortunately we pretty much had to flee after one night, the general manager let us know they weren’t issuing any kind of refund because „we could have just asked for a different room“ - which wouldn’t have helped anything at all, since the smell was literally everywhere like the whole complex was rotten. Overall really not a pleasant experience, I hope businesses consider letting tourists know about the conditions prior to arriving to avoid situations like this in the future.

L'appartement était grand et le lit confortable.

L'odeur dans l'appartement. Il fallait tout le temps faire tourner la hote dans la salle de bain sinon il y avait une vieille odeur. On a pas pu utiliser le jacuzzi,ni la piscine ni la plage privée. La plage a été envahi par des sargasses. Et l'hôtel est conçu en U donc l'odeur rentre mais ne ressort pas. Impossible de rester dehors plus de quelques minutes tellement ça puait, j'ai failli vomir dans la cour. Impossible d'aller manger au restaurant qui avaint toutes ses vitres ouvertes. Bref payé une fortune pour au final fuire au maximum l'hotel, très décevant. Nous avons essayé de voir avec l'équipe de l'hôtel qui n'était pas du tout intéressé par les problèmes de leurs clients ... le nez sur le téléphone mais pour trouver des solutions = personne. On nous a rien offert en échange. Tous les matins je leur demandais s'ils connaissaient une plage sans sargasse je n'avais aucun retour. Je devais moi même chercher l'information alors que je ne parlais pas la langue. On a cherché et payé un beach-club tout seul, alors que de base tous les équipements été prévu dans l'hôtel. La seule chose qui a été mise à disposition, c'est une voiture de golf pour nous emmener à la plage privée. Mais au retour le chauffeur avait fini sa journée il fallait rentrer a pied... Pas du tout a la hauteur de standing vendu. Et le dernier jour dans le parking il y avait plein d'eau, j'ai glissé, je suis tombé par terre. Le gardien assi sur sa chaise au bout du parking a levé les yeux de son téléphone mais ne s'est pas précipiter pour m'aider à me relever il a rebaissé sa têtesur son téléphone. Et quand je suis allé prévenir la réception pour leur dire que j'avais glissé qu'il n'y avait pas de panneau "sol glissant" et que le parking était plein d'eau, ils m'ont regardée avec des yeux écarquillés, ils m'ont repondu Ok et je n'ai même pas eu droit à des excuses...

Appartamento molto spazioso e accogliente, letti e cuscini comodi, cucina fornitissima, piscine piccole ma funzionali, parcheggio privato disponibile. Posizione ottima. Acqua potabile sempre disponibile.

Concierge non molto celere (ha risposto con un messaggio pre compilato 24 ore dopo la nostra richiesta senza darci nessuna informazione utile). Forte.odore di alghe, non presente nel complesso a monte, ma non è colpa della struttura.

Loved the amenities, hot tub , washer & dryer was a plus . He has transportation in a golf cart to Mamitas Beach and chairs & umbrella was provided . The staff are friendly & helpful . The rooms are spacious and modern look . Didn’t like the location much for such a beautiful condo hotel . I will definitely recommend to my friends and come back next year .

We are on a combined business and family trip. This condohotel was perfect! You get massage and restaurant discounts. The room selection is wide and can fit most budgets depending upon your budget. Front staff and bellman were very helpful. Our condo was very clean and well stocked with everything you would need (except groceries) if you decided to cook. Within walking distance of malls, ferries to Cozumel, and shopping area, restaurants,etc. Has two pools. Some of the larger condos have private patios. Some rooms have views of the sea. If you are tired of big chain hotels--think El Taj Playa Del Carmen Mexico

Compared to resorts and Cancun hotels I really enjoyed having a condo fur my family of four. We had the luxury to have two rooms with comfy beds and big kitchen and big living area. It is close to beach so access was really easy. They have a small go cart that can take you to further beaches. The pool was really warm and clean. We got all the help we needed. Location is excellent and we did not take a taxi as the ADO bus station was so close. As the weather was hot we were able to retreat to the apartment and the pool to cool off. AC and fans were excellent. Excellent fur families with kids, so safe and practical to prep meals in the kitchen for them.

Het was fantastisch! Heerlijke bedden. Ruim en schoon appartement. Geweldig uitzicht. Groot balkon met ligbedden en jacuzzi. De rust en relaxte vipe. Vriendelijk personeel.

Niets. Jammer dat de lokatie niet helemaal geschikt was om in de zee te zwemmen, maar het zwembad was zeer zeker een goede compensatie hiervoor.

Apart hotel con buena ubicación: céntrica y sobre la playa al mismo tiempo. Personal atento y profesional. Cuatro pisos de buena construcción y diseño elegante. Vistas al mar directas para los deptos frontales y con menor ángulo cuanto más alejado de la playa. Muy bien mantenido. Materiales nobles que no pasan de moda. Departamento espacioso y muy bien equipado. Muy buen aire acondicionado. Jardín tropical frondoso y bello con pileta amplia y en dos niveles junto a la playa. El restaurant de playa es de muy buena calidad, bien atendido y con precios razonables. Yacuzzi en el balcón de algunos deptos, lleno y listo para usar todo el tiempo.

Cero playa. Lanchas amarradas todo el día, no amigable para meterse en el agua. Sargazo abundante en inicio de marzo. Ítemes menores: escalera pronunciada en la entrada (si hay acceso para movilidad reducida no lo ví cercano). A pesar del buen aislamiento el yacuzzi tibio permanente es derroche de energía.

Great location, comfortable condo space, beautiful pools, it felt safe and quiet, beautiful beaches very close by

Our only drawback was not having beach access right in front of the hotel.. but it was a great option for the staff to lend chairs and umbrellas and a golf cart ride to the beach!

The beach is not usable, it's too small, and a lot of the ships park there.

Fantastisk gym som er koblet op til hotellet, god seng, stort værelse med stue og køkken oveni. Fint badeværelse. Rent - god service.

Ingen mulighed for sol ved den ene pool, den anden var der utrolig få liggestole, kedelig restaurant der er forbundet med hotellet. Dårlig udsigt.
