Uday Samudra Leisure Beach Hotel & Spa

The room was clean, spacious, and view extraordinary. The bed, sofa and dining was comfortable. We can sit in the balcony all day long watching the beach. Staff was friendly and helpful. Ayurvedic spa was amazing. The quality of fruits served top quality! Complimentary fruits and sweets were really good. The team arranged tender coconut on special request.

Breakfast spread was not great. No air condition in the restaurant serving breakfast. Some food was taste and some not so great. Needs improvement.

Facilities are too old. We had booked standard room for 3 people. But the room was very old with no space and is cramped. We did not have any space for the extra bed. Elevator got stuck half way.

Enjoyed the stay very much. The staff at udaya samudra were very supportive. We had wonderful prompt housekeeping support from Chiran and Daniel. Me and my dad and sis all enjoyed full body ayurvedic massage and steam by extremely experienced therapists Usha and Satish. We also enjoyed the Onam sadya served at the restaurant. Brilliant experience, would definitely recommend and return.

The restaurants and food was good. The shop inside the property and the facilities were good.

The TVs were outdated models and sometimes showing weird colors. Rooms were slightly outdated too compared to the price charged. Not about the property but just letting others know that the beach is a rocky beach that is a half level below the property and is not accessible from the property.

The breakfast spread is good.The amenities and staff were helpful

The bathroom floor was slippery and not suitable for elderly.The washbasin had cracks and the room had mould smell.

Ambience

The breakfast has all the options but to be honest lacked the natural taste so didn't find this good. The most disappointing this was a private alumni party was going on which meant we as family and friends couldn't have a conversation. The noise was so loud and unpleasant , that impacted the evening. This later till 11.00pm. The staff in dinner area were so amazing and helpless which is understandable. Same in the breakfast area , it was so loud and noisy which failed the feel of the resort. Again the pool wasnt pleasant for kids or females to be around because the way users were. The setting and ambience was exemplary but couldnt make use of it due to the above reasons.

ABC Happy Holidays, a Travel House, Pan India , booked a Coastal Room for 2 nights for its corporate guests from 8 th to 10 May and the room provided was very small and unimpressive hence my guest wanted better room or else for a check out option. When I tried connecting to the hotel they didn't pick my calls and after 30 odd minutes struggle some how my call was attended. I explained everything but they were very reluctant and rude in their approach. Somehow with great difficulty a premium sea view room was given with a higher cost. As the guest was not happy, I requested the hotel to shift the guest to the premium room asap, but they said first payment than shifting. Their approach and behaviour was unlike a premium 5 star hotel. Inspite of my repeated requests they didn't listen anything. I paid and shared payment received then they waited further for the payment received verification. In that process another 20 odd minutes passed. The hotel was never shown any intent of the guest first policy. Today on 10 th July during the check out my guest again asked to pay the room upgrade fees as the hotel did not update the earlier payment. After a lot of hue and cry they realised the payment has been made earlier. This is what is all about the great Uday Samudra... Kovalam. I deeply regret of sending my esteemed guests to such a unprofessional place and feel really embarrassed and made a promise to myself to not sending any guests further and sharing this experience to my friends and fellow travelers.

the atmosphere was so nice and pleasent . The pools were also well-maintained and there were many facilities like the play zone , spa , yoga , games etc . The staff was so polite and the service was also good . There was a nice view of the sea also . The location was also nice . The rooms were also clean and nice . The buffet was also nice with many varities of food . We stayed for 2 days only but the experience here was great .

We went for a family trip to kerala and I must say that UDS was our beat experience not just because of the property but the staff especially Naseem and the Chef - Rajesh who has really worked hard to bring in all the cuisines of India under one roof and yet maintain the taste of the regions All in all it was a great experience 👍

Yeah so this is very beautiful property and its campus is also huge and according to me it’s very happily place and services are so good. So all this beautiful experience guided by Naseem so he is also a great person.

This resort advertises themselves as being 5-star. It is really more a 2 or 3 star at the most. Firstly we were welcomed to cockroaches in the room and bathroom. Secondly, the dining and food is very mediocre. Coffee machine broke and off for breakfast. The general cleanliness was questionable. The air conditioners in the rooms could barely keep up. We had puddles in the room floors from constant condensation. The pool areas were very mediocre and not particularly clean. The resort advertises having a spa - they had a steam room and gym but the entire area smelt like the toilet. There was one common sauna in the men’s area that also did not smell ok. The ambience of the spa was so far from being a spa - it felt like a serious joke. We actually left after one night even though we had booked for 6 and moved to the Hyatt in Trivandrum. We could not see ourselves spending another day here. Another thing is that the pictures online show a real Beach - there was no real beach. They claimed the tides were high but in the 20 hrs we were there, the tides never went back. Whatever area of the beach one could access was littered with garbage. If you want a 5 star experience go for a brand like taj, leela or Hyatt. Our lesson was not never trust the 5 stars if it is not a brand. Resorts seem to be able to really lie an out their stars. We felt utterly cheated after paying 2000 euros. The manager promised a 50 percentage refund and we never got that either. So not only was the resort bad, they also cheated on us by lying about the refund.

The property is a must visit with amazing hospitality. We had a great experience through out our stay and the food was quite delicious. We were given a very warm welcome and a property tour by Mr. Naseem khan. Highly recommended visit in kovalam.
