Location: seafront and close to the town and food options.

Room was was spacious but musty, largely due to the old and stained carpeting. TV barely worked and had a few local channels, no cable TV. Food at the hotel was expensive and we did not bother to try anything beyond the breakfast buffet. The breakfast buffet had a variety of options and there was invariably something that was decent enough to get the day started.

Es gibt viel zu wenig Liegen. Es gibt (ua) ein Restaurant mit Sitzmöglichkeiten direkt am Meer, in dem man aber ausschließlich Snacks und Pizza, aber keine sonstigen Speisen bestellen darf, obwohl sich auf der Speisekarte (die über QR-Code auf diesen Tischen verfügbar ist) viele weitere Speisen befinden und im Restaurant nebenan (etwas nach hinten versetzt) diese Speisen doch angeboten werden. Hier hat das Restaurantpersonal keine Mindestflexibilität gezeigt.

The location of the resort is beautiful - on the water, facing west, so the sunsets are spectacular. The staff are very professional and helpful. The spa was a great experience as well. The breakfast buffet had a great variety of items.

This is not a five-star resort. The facilities are outdated and some in disrepair. This is also not a beach resort - although it is on the water, it has a very small beach that was littered with plastic bottles and snack wrappers. This was the biggest disappointment - there was a staff member supervising the beach and pool but nobody made the effort to clean the 20 square foot beach.

- невкусные, неразнообразные завтраки - плохой wi-fi в час пик - отсутствие выхода к морю - запрет на доставку еды - высокие цены в ресторане - на завтраке персонал выбирает, где сажать. Было бы здорово убрать данный сервис. Это занимает время + хотелось бы самостоятельно выбирать за каким столиком сидеть, с каким видом Было бы здорово в номере добавить пляжную сумку. Данный сервис практикуется в Таиланде и Вьетнаме

We booked this stay as a treat, knowing that there will be a range of activities to indulge in. There is enough to do, such as swimming, bowling, cycling and island hopping (departing from the resort itself, which is extremely convenient). We were able to enjoy the sunset both evenings. The room we stayed was equipped with air-conditioning and a ceiling fan. The breakfast spread is extensive. The staff are friendly and informative.

(not dislikes, just something for people to note) There is a policy that disallows food deliveries (e.g. GrabFood, FoodPanda, similar). Also, it would be wise to book your table at the resort's restaurants (such as Al Fresco) if you wish to enjoy the sunset with a meal, as the limited space gets filled quickly. In addition, the free parking is not shaded.

Je remercie particulièrement Leandra, la récéptioniste pour sa grande gentillesse. Elle nous a aidé à retrouver notre téléphonne égaré dans un grab. Elle a été à notre écoute et n'a pas hésité à nous aider.

Et pourtant nous ne sommes pas des pénibles mais : 3/4 d’heure d’attente au Check in.. croûte de pizza dans notre chambre à notre arrivée.. chambre vieillissante. chambres payé cher et des grosses sommes demandé pour que mes fils jouent au tennis, tout est payant .. plage minuscule, personnel pas très Agréable ..nous venions d’un 5 étoiles dans le centre et je peux dire que celui ci ne les mérites pas nous avons vraiment vue la différence celui ci est tellement Grand que il en devient moyen en prestation

No wi fi connection in room; swimming pools mainly catered for children as not deep. Yes there was an Olympic swimming pool but people were doing laps- there was one lane not used for this but what fun is there in just being confined to one lane?

Al fresco餐厅的服务一般，我点的榴莲煎蕊，服务员上错了， 告知她以后， 把桌上的拿下去，换了点榴莲点缀重新上，冰都化成水了。

My son and I stayed at the Magellan for 4 nights and we absolutely loved it! Our room was a basic garden view room but it was very comfortable, clean and a good size. The 3 different pools were awesome and we ate a few meals at the hotel restaurants which were delicious and good value. The location right on the water overlooking the amazing KK sunset was perfect. All of the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful. Overall it was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Room not available at check in and unorganised. Staff unhelpful. Hotel and rooms tired. Lack of sun beds and only about half have parasols as they are broken.

Magellan Club - Ernie made our experience of the Club and its facilities very special with her exceptional service and her helpfulness, friendliness and charming personality. The other staff at breakfast and in the evening were also very helpful and efficient. We thoroughly enjoyed the Club and especially the sunset on our last evening! We dined at Ferdinand's twice as a family as well, as with a friend from outside the hotel. The food and service was exceptional. Our very special thanks to Alice for looking after us so very well and for cooking our Blue River scampi so professionally at out table. Delicious!

Having to leave at the end of our 5 night stay! We will be back.

Poor TV channel choices. Mainly cater to overseas Chinese tourists channel . Very disappointing. WiFi was very slow. Streaming keeps loading.

The bed was very comfortable so if a layover or before moving on from KK to Natural Tourism after long flight it is good option

Very busy like a cruise ship on land queuing for breakfast. Plastic water bottles instead of water filters that you can use to refill, then to watch to plastic water bottles floating in sea in front of you.

全部悪い。部屋はカビ臭く、抗アレルギー剤を飲んで寝た。リモコンはなく、扇風機が壊れていて止められなかった。23時に対応をフロントでリクエストしたが、解決したのは1時間半後だった。スタッフはみな疲れており、人員の配置不足が目についた。大型ツアーのゲストを大量に入れているのか、朝食も夕陽も何もかも混雑しており不快だった。受け入れ過多で、スタッフ過小のため、サービスがまったく行き届いていない。5つ星だとは到底信じられない。部屋にチェックインしたら、テレビの横に前の客の使用済みティッシュが置かれており、ベッドカバーに使用済みのコンタクトレンズが落ち、ベッド下にはお菓子の袋が落ちていた。現場の疲弊を招く経営陣に9割の責任がある。この施設に泊まることで、スタッフに非人道的な扱いをし、顧客体験を顧みない会社に貢献してしまったことに心からの後悔を感じている。人生で最悪のホテルだった。

The location was perfect 5min GRAB to waterfront for restaurants

The rooms were tired and in need of upgrading, cleanliness was basic, however the bedding & bathroom were spotless, but the room itself was tired & needing updating, the surrounding wood along bottom walls was very dusty. Breakfast was basic for UK travellers. Overall I would stay here again as we still had a fantastic time

Do not make up room service, so required clean up but Did not. Last year room’s location was very nice but this year did not.

The hotel is gorgeous, beautiful lobby, bars and restaurants with great pool facilities. The rooms are nice and it is very clean. The food in the Alfresco restaurant is lovely. And the sunset is bar is lovely. Spa was lovely and very affordable.

Although the rooms are nice they are a bit dated, bathrooms could do with a refurbish. The staff are friendly but the service is very slow, staff would take an order and then not come back. It was busy but I think they were short staffed. Also they don’t clean your plates away when finished a meal, which we are used to in the UK.

The rooms are big and have all the facilities covered. The decor is getting old and it’s time for an update.

The wifi was pathetic and kept dropping out. This needs to be modernised so there is one signal across the complex.

직원분들이 친절하셔서 요청하는 것들을 최대한 들어주려고 하셨어요! 조식도 종류가 많고 맛있고 먹을게 많았어요~ 수영장은 엄청 넓은건 아니었지만 깨끗하고 하루정도 즐기기 좋았어요. 방에서 보는 풍경도 이쁘고 해변가 구경도 할 수 있어서 좋았습니다~

아쉬웠던 점은 딱히 없었어요.

We visited this resort in June 2026 and had an amazing time. The staff were all extremely friendly and constantly offering to help. A special mention to Chef Kris who made our stay even more enjoyable by catering to a coeliac member in our group. Kris went out of his way to make gluten free food (free from contamination) by hand including all Malaysian meals, burgers, pizza, pancakes etc. He even made a GF Dorian cake! Would highly recommend this resort to any guests. We will be back.

We loved our stay here, wonderful week after spending 2 weeks in the jungle. Although the place is quite big it never feels crowded. The breakfast is great, the swimmingpools super and the little beach is breathtaking beautiful. Lunch and dinner at Alfresco is also really good. The bed sleeps very well. All in all we had a perfect time here, regardless of the state of the bedroom.

The rooms are outdated and deepcleaning is just no longer possible. Therefor the cleaning of the room is not good enough for us and/or what you expect from this type of resort. And the parasols really need to be changed, they are so old and ripped that you can barely call it a parasol.

Some of the furniture could use a refresh and rooms could use a fresh coat of paint. Oddly there were so many tourists taking Instagram/posing photos around the property which eventually became a bit obnoxious but it is a beautiful setting!

Location, views, pool, very comfortable bed. Chef Mulyono should be commended, he kindly ensured I had gluten-free bread available every day.

Resort is old, tired and in need of a lot of updating and maintenance. Poor TV quality and channel provision, no way to watch major world event ie World Cup. No life in the evenings. Western breakfast provision very limited. Resort is way over-priced for what was provided.

We loved our room, we had the horizon cloud executive suite. The room was huge. The view was amazing.

However, we were disappointed that the room had two small TV’s and they weren’t smart TV’s so we couldn’t watch anything except local stations. It’s a small thing but when you are paying for such a nice room you should expect it to have contemporary conveniences. Our other complaint is the room service menu was poor. It is a small tung, but again when you are paying for a room which has a separate dining room you want to be able to use it. There are 4 onsite restaurants which are all great. But they don’t let you order most of the items for room service. The only vegetarian option was cheese Pizza. We wanted chocolate cake for desert but there was no desert on the room service menu. I walked down to the restaurant and they were happy to send up a delicious chocolate lava cake. They just need to improve the customer service with their room service Menu.

Large and breezy space at the lobby. Pool was good size and had things to play with. Breakfast area was spacious and no need to queue long for food. Room service was fast.

The toilet floor and balcony area could be cleaner as it felt sticky when walked on. Carpet felt thin. There were 3 of us but was given only 2 towels.

The location and the view so stunning, the room so comfy and clean, and the hotel staffs also are helpful, responsive and friendly. It just that the morning needs to be improved.

The check-in process is too long and slow, there is no improvement at all since few years ago. The receptionist counter area also too hot for us to wait too long to check-in.

The resort is huge!! Located on the harbour so the views are amazing, the staff was very friendly the room very comfortable, and great breakfast provided, I would definitely recommend this place to other travellers

Hotel was disappointing from start to finish. On arrival, the staff member said we could continue to use the pool facilities after we checked out and I asked if there were showers (as we were taking an intermational flight after we left the hotel) and he didn't know. I never found any suitable shower facilities. We had booked this hotel because, after having spent several nights in the jungle in Sukau, we wanted to use the spa facilities. The spa is closed for refurbishment and nobody even told us - we tried calling the spa from our room and there was no response so we walked there only to find a sign on the door saying it is closed. Very irritating to specifically pay for a hotel with facilities when those facilities aren't even open. We bought our snorkels from home but the snorkelling beach on the map is a joke - it is just a few metres square and you couldn't go any further into the ocean as it is cordoned off to prevent you entering the harbour. We felt completely missold on this and ended up having to pay for a separate snorkel excursion, partly because we didn't want to spend any more time at the hotel. We had a drink at the restaurant downstairs, which I asked to add to our room. We were told we couldn't because we hadn't left a deposit on check in - that's because nobody asked us! We had to queue for breakfast and the food quality was very poor. One of the worst hotel breakfasts I have had. Whilst the room itself was fine, overall, it was very expensive for what is, quite frankly, a very disappointing hotel.

Lovely location; real resort vibe. Room was very comfortable with ocean view. Lots of food options. Range of pools with lots of sun lounges. Had a couple is small issues with the room that were resolved very quickly.

Checking in was chaotic. We arrived an hour before official check-in at 3pm, got a drink then joined a huge queue to check in. No smart tv.

Conveniently located with lots of fun activities for kids

Our original room lights kept flickering, the water was cold and there were cockroaches in the bathroom, we notified reception and they said they would bring in engineering to support which was not done. The next day the water was still cold and the lights were still flickering, housekeeping has come in but the bed was half made as is they were interrupted mid way. When I notified reception and showed them pictures, only then did they move us to a different room

Enjoyed a fabulous one week stay at The Magellan Sutera Resort Hotel. The room was large and very clean. The pool was lovely and the facilities were excellent. Ate at the Alfresco restaurant which had a great varied menu and the staff were excellent.

The location of the hotel was perfect for what we were after. Outside of the main town and on the coast, it was very relaxing to sit on our balcony with a view of the ocean, and sunsets.

The hotel and facilities were quite dated and several things in our room didn't work. That said, the staff were very responsive to fix what they were able to, but are limited to what can feasibly be fixed.

Everything was excellent.

Just the bathroom water flow is not really good. There is curb in the shower place and drainage for the water djscard in the bathing area itself, a bath will wet the whole bathroom floor.

Access to the pool and beach was highly maintained, the restaurant selection was great and the staff outstanding. Bed super comfortable and definitely recommend room with the balcony

Communication with the reception via the room phone was not reliable, we ended up having to actually go downstairs and speak to them directly

The Magellan Sutera Resort provided us with a magic 6 days of rest and relaxation. The total environment was amazing with great swimming pools and restaurants and many other facilities. We will long remember the meals sitting by the beach and watching yes another amazing sunset. Staff were great and we thank you all for a very memorable stay

Facilities were not maintained. Room smelled terribly of mould. Sheets felt damp and smelled of mildew. Property needed a lot of work to bring it up to 5 star appropriate.

Big - you get a little lost in the crows - breakfast was just ok….food here is expensive hence you need to travel into Kota for meals. No screen share or Netflix hence the tv for English people is very average.

very good breakfast with nice spread. there are 4 pools to choose from within the resort which shared facilities with the Sutera Harbour Marina Club and the Pacific Sutera Resort. Many restaurants to choose from within the complex with lovely outdoor seatings. stunning view.

if you are looking the spend time on the beach, the beach area is quite limited. But there's boat service you can take to nearby islands.

Breakfast has a big variety of foods, we enjoyed the facilities and beach, room comfortable and clean.

We had the most fantastic family holiday. Everything was right there for us. Pools, bowling, gold driving range. All topped with great food and great service. Irena and all the staff looked after us so well in the club lounge. The pools all have lifeguards all the time making it feel extra safe. The service was incredible. Every single member of staff was helpful and friendly.

Relaxed atmosphere, great breakfast and pool. Extra facilities were also great. large quiet bedrooms were very comfortable. Location for watching sunsets was perfect.

Amazing breakfast! Nice resort, fairly quiet location and still close to the city. Easy enough to grab a taxi to go there.

The wifi was not good, spotty at best in the room we had.

- Sutera magellan has excellent food , facilities, customer service and a spectacular bar to toast in the equally spectacular sea view sunsets . Shame the golf course is in such poor condition and the garden course was closed ( this course offers the best sea views).

Location is great. Large apartment was perfect for our family. Washing machine was a bonus. Check in was easy, staff gave us step by step instructions and communication was good.

Some people might not like the location as it's right under the flight path and you can hear music from a bar but didn't bother us. Could do with somewhere to hang washing and more drinking glasses.

Clean, tidy, excellent breakfast which was the best organised system I’ve seen when the place was so busy.

Overcrowded pool area. On checkout on 15 Feb 26 we were told our deposit couldn’t be refunded as it would take 2 weeks. To date, 31 March 26, no refund has been credited to our account.

We stayed in the Magellan Club rooms and could not have asked for more. We had access to a private dining room for breakfast and drinks and canape before dinner and the staff were very accommodating assisting my partnerwith dietaryrequirements. They even assisted us hosting a small birthday reception for some family. I'd like to give a special mention to Mr Azrul, Mr Nickson, Ms Olevia and Chef Ezlan.

Schlecht organisiertes hotel. Abläufe in den Restaurants kaotisch. Wirkt wie eine Jugendherberge für junge Chinesen, die in grosser Anzahl für ein,zwei Nächte kommen, um sich selbst zu photografieren und einzukaufen. Die Lage ist mit flughafennähe laut.

Great selection of pools and private beaches! Rooms are clean and super comfy. Breakfast is amazing!

Shuttle bus service was a bit unclear on how to use.
