The viewe was amazing and the room was really comfortable.
Nothing
The owner John was very helpful.
The property needs to be upgraded.
Beautiful country house
Lovely views from our spacious room. The old house was charming and warm. It’s not too far from town and very peaceful.
Nothing I can think of.

Good quiet location, didn't have time to explore grounds. Would stay again.
Some cobwebs in bedroom. Decor a little tired.
Large rooms , good breakfast , and short walk into Ardara . Also large secure parking area
Tea could have been better
Everything was fantastic; the staff, the room, the location, the view, and the breakfast! A historic house with so much charm.
Staff were excellent - so friendly and welcoming, especially John, Láoise and Helen.
Happy with everything.
We stayed at Woodhill House for two nights while visiting Ardara. Overall, it was an okay stay, but there were a few things that made the experience feel a little unusual. Our room itself was clean, although there appeared to be mold or mildew on the bathroom ceiling, which was disappointing On the positive side, breakfast was quite good, and the room otherwise met our needs.
Woodhill House is an old house so it is full of character and atmosphere.
There was nothing that we didn’t like about the property! Its situation is fantastic and the gardens around it a treat - not manicured but obviously maintained.
Great views from our window and the breakfast was excellent.
Where do I start. We arrived to an empty house at 4.45. We called for the owner for about 10 minutes. He eventually arrived and was a bit confused as to which our room was. Once we were shown the room, it was clear that it had not been cleaned since the last guests. The owner was not very sorry and said we would have to wait for an hour for it to be serviced. He said go and sit in the lounge and wait. There was no offer of a drink until I said that I was going to make a cup of tea, then he went off to make one. We were not happy with the welcome or the fact our room wasn't ready. Very poor. The house is very dated, but does have beautiful views and a great breakfast.
We really enjoyed our stay at Woodhill house. It's a historic house, replete with tall ceilings and lots of character. There is a very atmospheric bar in the main house. The rooms have a mini fridge, kettle, coffee pot, and hair dryer, but did not have AC. The lack of AC wasn't a problem for us, as the weather, even in August, was cool. Our room was very large and had a balcony that overlooked the garden, which was beautiful. The rate included breakfast, which was very good; we liked that breakfast was cooked, as opposed to continental and/or a buffet. Of note, if you decide to go on the "wee folk" trial, the one here is on a tree about ten feet up in front of the gate.
The water pressure in the bathroom was not especially strong and the bathroom overall could use updating. But everything worked fine...just need to realize that it's a historic property. It's probably about a 10 minute walk from the property to the town, but the property is so charming that we didn't mind the walk.
Not serving dinner.
Location lovely. Didn't have breakfast as not available at 8am needed to leave. Owner charming
Needed repairs. No restaurant.
The location is perfect. It is a little up the road from the town, but it is an easy walk for shopping and dinner. The downstairs has a sitting area with a lounge where drinks can be purchased at night. My husband and I sat with John, the proprietor, and talked while sipping our beverages. John has wealth of knowledge about the area, and is interesting to talk to. Overall, Woodhill House was the perfect starting spot for our daily jaunts around County Donegal, and return to for a good night's rest.
Large spacious rooms, beautiful house and surroundings, tea/coffee/water supplied every day, delicious breakfast, cosy bar, exceptional staff, welcoming and accommodating owner. Great location 5 minutes walk into the lovely town of Ardara. This was a delightful, charming house. We were very lucky to find it.
Nothing we didn't like.
Schitterend gelegen authentiek landhuis.
Staff were lovely very friendly and helpful
Property need a complete refurb its ment to quaint but its past that now . Grounds need a lot of attention its very run down weeds growing everywhere
Staff were amazing and welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was delicious, dinner too!
We absolutely loved this spot! While we did not get a chance to enjoy the bar, we had an amazing stay. The sound of sheep outside our window - the old style decor and music - the delicious breakfast and coffee. It was all fantastic and the staff were fabulous!
Nothing at all. I wish we could have stayed longer.
Very comfortable with a lovely ambience
Bed only a double
The location, friendly warm staff and friendly knowledgeable owner who we had nice chats with at night over a night cap from the cute bar and informed us of the history of the house and some of the famous guests who had stayed and visited there over the years, good home cooked breakfast choices, really quiet and peaceful, and a thoroughly enjoyable old world charm experience
Having to leave 🥲
Zeer mooi kader
Staff were friendly & helpfull
Advertised as a Hotel. No restaurant for an evening meal. The room was very cramped
John is great !!
Jhoni gave us wonderful hospitality!! Lovely place !
The whole place was amazing! It is very old built in the 1700’s. The details were perfect. It felt like stepping back in time. The gardens were impeccable. John greeted us and showed us to our room. If you’re expecting modern amenities this may not be the place for you. We loved the classic yet vintage vibe. The breakfast and service was amazing! We would go again if we were ever back in Adhara. Thank you John for sharing this hidden treasure with us!
The sound of the birds and the sheep out the door. Fantastic included breakfast.
Water pressure is a bit low in the second floor, but workable.
Quiet setting a few minutes walk from the town centre. Large room with 2 double beds. Large bathroom with bath and shower and a bidet.
Place was rather jaded which was charming but it needed some upkeep. They had been let down by staff not turning up so service was slow.
Peaceful, beautiful location. Staff are great and really helpful
This house exudes history and warmth. Filled with family photos and old world charm we were very comfortable. Our host generously upgraded our room to one at the front of the house with a lovely view of the hills. We especially enjoyed Helen’s cheerful presence each morning.
The toilet in our bathroom was a bit noisy as the tank refilled slowly with water after each use.
Stunning historic property in an idyllic location
Nice owner, very helful and generous

Clean comfortable bed - good breakfast Good value for a last minute stay
The Woodhill House sits in a lovely valley, and is good for visiting Donegal. Our host, John, keeps a great bar and a warm fire. He's also happy to share stories and information. Breakfast cooked to order by Helen was delicious.
The radiator was a little tricky but we were able to open the sliding door for fresh, cool air.
John was a wonderful host. The property is incredibly serene. It is the idyllic Irish countryside B&B!
Woodhill House is the perfect place to stay to feel truly immersed in the beauty of County Donegal. It's situation out in the countryside, and is a short drive to Donegal town, and the gorgeous coastline, mountains, beaches and caves of the rugged northwest. The House is surrounded by rolling hills, grazing sheep, and the view from our balcony was an old, rock walled garden! Truly felt like stepping back in time, and we loved it. I've read some complaints on Booking about how "dated" it is, etc., but honestly, that's why we loved it - it's called "charm"! I loved the elegant, more historical, traditional style of our room and the main house and dining room. Breakfast was also absolutely wonderful, prepared fresh and very delicious everyday, and John and the lovely ladies who served us were so friendly, warm and welcoming. One thing I will say to future travelers who stay here is to please respect that this is a lovely, quite oasis for those who don't want the chaos and noise of staying in town. You are out in the lovely, peaceful countryside, so please allow other guests to enjoy the peace, quiet and rest that comes with this incredible location. Due to no fault of Woodhill House whatsoever, there was 1 night when we had just fallen asleep, when our neighbors came in at midnight - drunk, laughing, shouting, and kept us up until 2am. :-( We're very quiet, respectful people and didn't want to make anyone feel bad, so we said nothing, but were extremely exhausted the next day of our trip due to lack of sleep. Again - this has nothing to do with Woodhill House itself! We fell in love with this place, the people there, and will definitely be back one day. This is just a friendly reminder to those who stay here that this isn't a loud, raucous B&B upstairs above a pub in town. It's a lovely, respectful, restful place to get away from it all and truly enjoy the serene, natural beauty of Ireland. :-)
Nice place near town. Breakfast was good, and the service was excellent.
The property is a little tired, and they do not serve dinner anymore.
The breakfast was very good, the porridge cooked perfectly.
I would have liked a socket beside the mirror for doing my hair. Also, the room was too warm as the heating was on all night.
Friendly staff, homely atmosphere
The breakfast was excellent, and the service was first class. Nothing was too much trouble, and the staff were welcoming and very friendly. They were very kind and respectful to our 97-year-old mother, who enjoyed all the attention.

Everything.
John our host was lovely, accommodating and friendly. The house itself is cosy, beautifully decorated with charming period furniture. We had a lovely view from our room which was upgraded for no extra charge.
Nothing. We loved staying here!
Charming. Old world. Quirky
Shower could be better
This was our first visit to Donegal. Location was easy enough to find with in-car navigation. Room was big and comfortable enough. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. 10/10, will come again!
Beautiful setting. Amazing history. Gracious host.
Nothing
Frühstück, freundliches Personal
Zimmerausstattung, alles sehr in die Jahre gekommen
Wonderful location, helpful staff, great breakfast. Our third stay at Woodhill and looking forward to returning.
We stayed in the coach house room built in 1600’s, so quaint and so much character. The gardens are stunning, even though it was raining, took a quick walk to appreciate them. Lots of breakfast choices cooked to your liking. John (the owner) was lovely and took the time to explain the property to us.
Lovely looking exterior, in peaceful surroundings. It is easily walkable into Ardara along a farm track with great views out to sea. Recommended by our host!!
Overpriced, generally in need of some TLC, not worth what we paid. Grubby net curtain, rail hanging off the patio door in our room, could have been easily mended. The 'patio' was a communal outdoor area, shared with the smokers from next door so not used, not least of all as there were no chairs to sit on!
Old property with lots of character
Old furnishings A bit dark
Reichhaltiges Frühstück in tollem Ambiente.
Beautiful location, great value for money
Nice area, rooms just ok!
El entorno, el jardín es precioso.
El desayuno es flojo y muy lento.
wonderful house, great room and breakfast.
Great place with great breakfast
What a delightful stay in a well styled Manor. All the rooms are tastefully appointed & in keeping with the era which gives a warm homely feeling to your stay. Delightful staff eager to help, made our stay even more homely. The showers are difficult to use & perhaps a queen bed to replace the double size would be our only positive criticism. Despite these small criticisms the stay was just delightful.
Eine wirklich schöne Unterkunft mit besonderem Flair. 😊
Breakfast great & waiting staff were lovely.
When we arrived at check in time the room wasn’t ready, we were told that it wouldn’t be ready for at least another hour & half & we just had to go away & come back.
