While we were told there was tea and coffee they forgot to omit no milk! I would have no bother buying it had i known. Not allowed to heat anything owing to HSE orders. Bedrooms were clean but beds and pillows exceptionally uncomfortable.

Una casa pensada para sacarle el máximo rédito posible. No hay personal, ni se le espera. En su día hubo desayuno, ahora no lo hay, porque directamente (hay un cartel que lo indica) la ley exige que haya personal, y no lo va a haber. La casa es vieja, las puertas van duras. Hace frío y no funciona la calefacción, en la cama casi no caben 2 personas, si uno de los dos es un poco grande te garantizo que no cabéis. La cama también necesita ser cambiada, se hunde y es incómoda. La cocina y el living room no están bien aislados, si viene gente y quiere cenar se oye todo, tampoco hay nadie que vigile, tampoco hay carteles que limiten su uso en un horario. No caben las maletas y la TV está detrás de la cama, no se puede ver. El precio es abusivo, para este hostal, no pagaría más de 40€ por habitación y noche. La cocina no se puede usar más que para calentar agua. La ducha tiene presión.

With access to kitchen and dining room. Rooms simple but clean. Also sits in a nice area close to pubs, food shops and close to areas of outstanding beauty
Although stayed one night due to waiting to get car fixed, would stay again for few nights but would like a TV in the room when winding down.

Personal war nur telefonisch erreichbar, was ja eigentlich kein Problem war. Das Zimmer war sehr, sehr klein. Das Bett zu schmal für 2 Personen Die Küche unsauber, wir mussten unsere Kaffeetassen zuerst abwaschen. Am Tisch klebten noch die Essensreste der Vorgänger.

Reviewed May 5, 2026Central, value for money, independent place. Comfy twin room with good shower and toilet area. Small with window over side street - there was traffic but not too noisy. Very clean. Good sized seating area downstairs to have tea / coffee and picnics, but see comments about cooking. The other people staying were all respectful and everyone tidied up their mugs / takeaway boxes etc. On site parking very convenient.
Thick walls but could hear snoring / chatting in next door but just used ear plugs. Unfortunate that we weren't allowed to cook - maybe there have been bad experiences with guests not tidying up properly? There is a microwave for heating and a kettle, and a fridge / freezer for storing food, but oven and stove out-of-bounds.

Reviewed Apr 9, 2026Ardhill House was well located and modernised in a nice way. Visually, it was appealing and it was convenient for spending time in town or using it as a jumping off point to explore more of Donegal.
The bed was incredibly uncomfortable and very small for two people. The TV in the bedroom was behind the headboard, but there was nowhere across from it to sit. There was nothing in the kitchen other than tea and coffee, and you're not allowed to cook any food - so be prepared to eat all meals out.

Reviewed Aug 30, 2025The location is superb, right in the centre of town. We only had one night there and didn't use the kitchen or communal area. Access via a code for the keybox was easy.
Sadly, the room had a strong smell of stale sweat. The bedding was crumpled and the bathroom needed a lot of bleach. Basically, it seemed that the room had not been cleaned. We texted the owners to see if there was another option, but never got a reply. So we opened all the windows and then went to buy some Fabreze. Such a shame, as the building is nice and the actual facilities in the room were fine.

We had booked and paid for two nights but unfortunately due to an emergency at home with my daughter we could only stay one night. I rang owner and explained that we had to rush home and he didn't even offer to refund me for the second night, will not be staying there again Jim Maxwell

Only complaint we had was the shower valve had broken. However, when letting Joseph know, he immediately responded and he he informed us he would address it immediately.

Our room was clean and tidy, shower great, common area clean as well and you can use if you like, but no need with different shops and chipers around. Wiew from the window great. Parked in front.Communication with owners clear and precise.We almost overslept on Sunday morning how peaceful it was.
