Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Lovely historic property in great location. In very good and interesting decorative order.
No bike storage
Schade!
The staff were helpful and the breakfast was nice
Was all nice
The hotel was interesting and quirky in a quiet location with good parking. The a staff were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was adequate but not good having to go to sister hotel for it. Liked the tea and coffee making arrangements and plenty of bottled water available. The room was clean and large bed comfortable with nice bedding.
Hotel run down and becoming grubby, carpets and bedroom furniture etc worn and tatty. Attention to detail very poor for example chest of drawer handles missing and bulbs in bedside table and ceiling lights missing. It doesn’t take a lot to check these things so very sloppy in this respect. Not ideal having to go out, when wet for breakfast.
Character
Had to wait for a breakfast table, told to go away. Lots of tables not cleared away. No glass for juice had to get one from the bar, not hot as the only member of staff in room was busy trying to keep up saying everyone had arrived at once and took awhile collecting from the kitchen
This is a beautiful old historic building. The rooms are spacious, immaculate and in keeping with the feel of the building. The location is a lovely residential area of Bournemouth, and the grounds are green and tranquil. There is (almost - I'll come to that) everything you need - except people. Nice breakfast (but see below).
This is the first time I have ever visited an hotel where there is not a single member of staff in attendance. No one to greet, offer advice, give information, offer assistance. Absolutely deserted. Guests are directed to the Derby 'sister hotel' across the road, but that was similarly devoid of all human contact. There is no restaurant, no bar, no breakfast room (back to the Derby, and thankfully it wasn't raining, where, a single member of staff performed heroics dealing with dozens of bemused customers). The pleasant location has its downside, in that there are no restaurants or pubs anywhere near. A single printed sheet in the room named some food outlets, but there was no info or map to say where they were or how to get there. To the owners of the Langtry and the Derby - this isn't on. Guests have paid good money and expect a basic standard hotel experience. I suppose it was basic.
The room was large but furniture tired, nice cotton sheets and nice towels The breakfast was nice
The bin hadn't been emptied The toilet seat was broken The curtains need more runners
Did not see any staff no food in hotel had to go over road disapointed
The history of the place is fantastic, Breakfast is in the hotel across the road.
The room was cold and we couldn't find the thermostat.
Hôtel charmant et très bien situé dans un quartier calme proche du centre ville et bénéficiant d'un parking client gratuit.
Propreté de la moquette de la chambre douteuse.
Location was very good., staff were very polite and helpful. Excellent breakfast choice all freshly prepared on the premises. Very clean rooms.
Iron was provided but no ironing board. Very weak shower water flow.
The bedroom was a good size with a comfortable large bed.
The bathroom was absolutely tiny. The bath was very deep so I would not be able to get out of it. There were no grab baths for the shower so I could use the shower either as I could easily fall.
Spacious and very comfortable bed and a nice relaxed atmosphere and all the staff were very accommodating
Creaky floorboards and noisy neighbour for one night which the hotel dealt with promptly
Nice breakfast and location
na
It has character and history, some quirky features
It felt empty and it does need more investment, it’s not how I remember it from 20 years ago
Easy check in, easy access, great stay close to beautiful beach and free parking.Good check out Beautiful venue.
Not having enough time to look around the place.
The room was comfortable though small
The bathroom.. There was no shower to speak of. The only way to have a shower was to sit inside the bathtub as the ceilings were sloping and so low.
Very accommodating
It was nice
Great room and hotel with lots of history. Breakfast in Derby Manor also very good.
Nothing
Nothing
The room wasn't very appealing. Stains on carpet and old furniture. Water pressure terrible. Toilet flush terrible. Hot and stuffy room. In desperate need of a refurbishment!
Breakfast
Place very tired and surprisingly not very clean. Had stayed there previously and it had been excellent.
Nice location
The bed.
The room smelled mouldy and musty and is in need of updating. The fabrics, including the carpet, also need renewing. The smell of old dew irritated my sinuses. The bathroom had a lovely window overlooking the forecourt and neighbouring homes. However, the shower curtain was positioned away from the window, which made the bathroom feel very exposed when using the shower and toilet. The room was directly above the front entrance, and the heavy front door was constantly being slammed throughout the night, which was very disruptive and made it difficult to sleep. There was no reception, and entry to the property was via a code. The lack of staff or anyone available to welcome guests or assist with questions made the property feel quite eerie and unwelcoming.
Stunning place
Once change rooms was fine
Dirty
Free parking and easy to access
Room was filthy and dusty, no staff at the property, no facilities, water pressure in shower was poor, bathroom was dirty. Fans were provided but again these were very dusty. Bed was relatively comfortable and offering of tea and coffee was good but did not make up for the price of the room
Second time staying at the Langtry Manor, love the architecture and decor. Location is also very convenient, 15 min away from Bournemouth Station and 10/15 min walk to the beach!
No air con, it was 30 degrees and super hot
The hotel is close to the beach.
The hotel was not as clean as expected. The room was dusty, and the bathroom needed updating! The sink was broken, and the toilet rim was full of human waste(poo!)
Lovely decorated rooms, great location, James on reception is a brilliant host, nothing too much trouble.
Sometimes you can need something for your room and have to go across the road.
Location
5 flights of stairs very cramp bathroom tv didn’t work poor shower pressure rubbish not emptied tv not fixed even when asked cooked breakfast highly disappointed
It was so nice
Everything
3rd time I've Stayed. Good parking. Nice building in convenient location. Beds comfy.
I've stayed at Langtry Manor a few times...2 out of 3 good experiences. Unfortunately on this occasion, there was no bottled water in the room and beverages weren't topped up over my stay. The hot water bath tap didn't work at all which meant I couldn't take a bath. Some carpet areas didn't seem to have been hoovered.
Vecchia dimora molto elegante e ben tenuta, tipico british style.
sarebbe stato utile un frigo bar e magari l’ascensore …ma su quest’ultimo ci sta !
Self check in and room was huge own doors to outside nice and quiet really good stay
Didn’t see any staff but got used to it quickly
Location, beautiful building
Inter connecting door in room not suitable for female solo guest. Felt unsafe Next door TV very loud and into early hours People talking outside rooms at 3am No air-conditioning or fan provided No wifi info provided Breakfast 8am not suitable for business traveller
Lovely property and room. Easy to access.
Felt a little vulnerable as no staff were on site
Stayed in Lily Room - lovely little room (Love the bath in the corner). We had stayed at Langtree for our wedding night exactly two years ago (although a different room) so wanted to spend our wedding anniversary there again. We live locally so it was just down the road so very convenient. Love the historical aspect of the place. Loved the help yourself to tea etc in the lounge. The sink and toilet in the bedroom are so quaint!
No toilet paper in the room, the decking outside on the balcony is damaged in some parts and needs repairs before someone hurts themselves. The bathroom lock does not work. There are no staff in attendance at all (you get in with a key code) and the phone is not answered - felt quite impersonal. We only made headway as my husband walked over to the sister hotel to see someone there. When we left at 9.45am on check out day the fresh towels were already outside our door - felt very rushed and unprofessional.
A cama confortável, o lugar era bem silencioso foi bem agradável a estadia.
A limpeza deixou a desejar.
Mooi hotel, heel vriendelijke mensen. Lekker ontbijt.
Nvt
Beautiful, very cosy and clean.
Nice building, with decent communal areas etc. Easy parking right outside.
No staff at all, anywhere. No one on reception, no one inside, not a single soul in the hotel. You're given a code to enter the building and your room - which is ok, but soulless. Security wise not great as the main door was open all the time. I wanted to leave my bags on the last day - but no one to ask or leave them with.
Great character property.
Squeaky floorboards
Breakfast room amazing
Excellent as always
No air con
We stay when ever we visit Bournemouth as always our stay was delightful
Everything was fine
The hotel was very well laid out. It had a lot of history linked to it and that was reflected in the many pictures in each room. The rooms were very well decorated and furnished The bedrooms were large and spacious and very well equipped. The bed was very comfortable, Although breakfast was provided in an adjacent hotel a minute away, that too was of a very high standard and both the breakfast and service were again of a very high standard - Very enjoyable breakfast - 5 stars
No tablecloth on breakfast table with proper napkins
Comfortable bed in a spacious room. Being able to park right outside. Interesting building full of Lillie Langtry memorabilia.
Not a major issue but the absence of a receptionist - just an entry code - makes the hotel feel a little impersonal not helped when we went over to the partner hotel for our breakfast and the receptionist there couldn’t even look up to respond to our good morning greeting.
I think we were upgraded. It was the Lily Langtry room. It was very quirky and comfortable. Even had a balcony which we sat out and had a glass of fizz. Very nice
Toilet roll holder could have done with being fixed but thats it.
Breakfast was lovely. Huge room with gorgeous window.
The lovely chandeliers had no means of turning on so very great shame, would have been icing on the cake. Some other lights never worked. The television was right in front of the lovely fireplace spoiling the look. Also fireplace lighting only half worked.
Beautiful house large comfortable room and great location
Small shower room
Der var ingen personale, vi skulle selv tjekke ind med kode. Morgenmaden var på den anden side af gaden. Det var et ferietilbud, hvor vi sparrede 50% og betalte derfor "kun" 1.100 dkk.
Comfortable room and bathroom, clean.
all was good
Beautiful Property. Lovely Gardens. Good Parking. Great Decoration & Furniture.
The wooden furniture in the bedroom was very sticky and impossible to use my lap top etc. Had to put a towel over the desk.
Very unusual and in keeping with the time
Windows need attention!
Lovely old building full of character. Very nice room, location and parking.
No staff just self check in so soulless I'm afraid. It was extremely hot and the room was unbearable as had no air con or fan/fridge.
The decor in the main entrance hall was beautiful but absolutely ruined by the lack of comfort in the room!
The room was very small. The bath was so small i couldnt get in it. The room was so Hot and despite messaging the hotel to see if we could have a fan i was ignored. Only 1 window would open. Its 30 degrees and peak of the summer! As well as that The furnitue was awful and the bed was uncomfortable. The hotel was so hot i had to sleep in my car in the car park. We didnt even bother having breakfast as the comfort of the hotel was of such poor standards with a bad night sleep we didnt even want to risk or waste time looking at the breakfast. I travel all over the UK for my job and stay in many hotels. This is by far the worst hotel i have ever stayed in
Tolles Haus mit Geschichte, liebevoll eingerichtet. Für das Frühstück muss man in das Nachbarhotel. Frühstück teils Buffet (kalt) und Bestellung (warm, a-la-Carte), gute Auswahl.
Keine Restaurant in unmittelbarer Nähe. Ca. 1,5 km laufen bis El Murrino Beachclub.
We were upgraded to a king bed and very big room.Breakfast was good. The hotel is very interesting and lots to see. Nice place but no staff! Would go again though.
There was actually no staff there. The person that dealt with it was across the road in another hotel. So , on arriving it was surreal.
Large room Bed comfy Friendly person across in other hotel Clean Nice communal area with tea making facilities Interesting history
Bath hot tap not working Ceiling lamps hanging out of sockets Bar barely stocked in sister hotel across the road
Simplicity of check in with the code given on the day and same code for the room.
No air con so could have provided a fan as it was during the heatwave so it was very warm.
The building itself was beautiful and not far from the town centre
The room was unbearably hot. Your given a fan which was not helpful at all. The bathroom door was broken. The door nob was on the floor when I arrived. I had to use a spoon handle to wedge the door open! Toilet smelt and the bathroom wasn't that clean at all. TV was not working. Bottles of water were provided but due to the heat of the room, they were warm and gross to drink. Then to top it off.....the sheets were dirty. Didn't look like they had been changed. Im pretty sure there were blood stains on the sheets. The one thing I was looking forward to was the breakfast. Unfortunately that didn't happen either. I arrived to be told the kitchen had closed half an hour early and I showed the email with the time saying when the breakfast was meant to end but it didnt matter. I left with no breakfast even though I had paid for it. There is no staff in the hotel itself. The staff are across the road in another hotel, so any problems, you have to walk across there to talk to someone. As the phone in the reception doesn't work and connect you to the hotel like it says it does. I wouldnt stay here again.
Breakfast was not good and the cups that where in the hotel need a clean as were stained , the rooms was clean but not to the level of the pictures showing on the web sight ,would not book this hotel again
Near to the beach , the road was closed where the hotel was
The location & history of the property
Extremely hot room with very thick duvet! Small en-suite
Very good hotel we stayed in the kings room and it was excellent really liked the fact that there was no boring check-in just a code which was totally different to anywhere else we’ve stayed
There was no bar or restaurant which we expected from reviews but not a problem as close to plenty
breakfast was really good thank you for the fan in the room
no way of opening wardrobe as the knob was not there The knob on the bathroom door fell off TV remote needed a new battery ( we sorted this with reception at Darby Manor)
Easy to find in a quiet neighborhood beautiful manor house
It's always lovely at the Langtry. As always my room was beautiful. The bed was amazing- exceptionally comfortable. Beautiful garden and surroundings and the hotel is always quite and peaceful.
Nothing.
Easy check in, old style hotel which is i like. Great value
It was too hot, cant open the window and they provided a small fan which is so noisy.
Lovely property. Room was very nice . Liked the ease of checking in with the access code
No staff to assist with anything. Had to go across the road to the Derby hotel to ask for another loo roll ! Although the room was nice and the bed very comfortable. It did require a more thorough clean the jacuzzi bath did have hair in it . And silly things like same of the lights would not turn on and one of the tvs did not seem to respond to the remote . The plug also did not work in the sink .
Absolutely nothing!
Absolutely everything! I have never stayed anywhere quite as dirty. I am a woman travelling on my own, and I actually feel quite upset about being here, physically sick in fact. Filthy bathroom with mould & hairs, stained bed cushions, rotten windows and generally grubby & smelly. I have booked this hotel because I need to fly from Bournemouth Airport tomorrow at 6:15 am and there is no way I will sleep or be able to use the bathroom, apart from having to use the toilet. The photos and reviews of this hotel were good, and the fact that it was advertised as £165 discounted to £77, I thought I had found a real bargain. Being here, I now understand why! It is utterly disgusting.
The cooked breakfast was great - really hot and fresh, good quality ingredients. If you like a continental buffet breakfast, this isn't the place for you. The room was big and the bed was comfortable.
The bathroom in our room was very small - unnecessarily so - and a little tired in places. There was no fan in the room (although we were subsequently told that there would be. There are also very few staff at Langtry Manor - to talk to reception staff you need to go across the road to the Derby. We didn't see anyone at the Langtry for the whole time. Also be aware that rooms are only serviced every 3 days.
Great place in amazing location
Nothing
Character and decor of the building. Location was locally flat but on top of hill from town centre. Car park always had space available. Anna, the lady who ran the breakfast service, was absolutely superb and a credit to the organisation, a true ambassador. Proving the value of human interaction.
As a mobility challenged person, a room on the lower floor was requested, which was not acknowledged, upon arrival the auto booking in system allocated the highest positioned room 15. This necessitated climbing multiple flights of steep stairs. As the hotel was unmanned it was necessary to seek a human in the sister property 'the Darby. The young gent was helpful, had checked my request and said that they could only offer either a larger room one flight of stairs lower but it would be charged at the higher room rate or stay in the highest room for 1 night then transfer to an alternative room on the lowest floor. After further discussion, and to avoid unpacking/twice, we agreed to take the room 1 flights down without additional cost. Rooms were looking tired, bathroom in particlar. Sink was cracked. 1 Window and one fan was not operating correctly. Lack of human contact made it less personable and difficult to seek advice, etc.
Very nice place.
We were there during the heatwave and the window wouldn't open.
The position was quiet
Misleading information about facilities in hotel
The hotel looks incredible oldy worldy medievil
No staff at hotel, room was incredibly small and dirty, filthy infact. Nothing like images suggested. Had to go to sister hotel to find staff, who could'nt log in to computer system. Needed to phone owner to explain couldnt stay in filthy room. Bonus, quick to organise a refund, and easy to find another hotel so trip not ruined.
Lovely neighbourhood, near the beach. Nice and quiet. Plenty of coffee and tea in the room.
Very small bathroom.
Charming hotel with lots of character. Staff was lovely and very helpful even though we had to go to their sister hotel to get a hold off anyone. We initially had some issues with the room we were given, with the TV not working. It was a lovely room, and if we were just staying for a night we wouldn't have bothered but we were staying for a week so we wanted one that worked. We were able to switch to another room, which was somewhat smaller than the first one. We did enjoy walking around and see and read about all the history. We had some interesting encounters downstairs with obvious temperature changes, and retreating footsteps..
Bad/no signal on the tv in the top floor rooms. Hopefully that has been sorted now.
Very comfortable
The location was ideal.
Room was in the very top of the property with narrow steep stairs; No handle on the inside of the bathroom door; Either the television or the remote were not working. Room exceptionally hot despite small noise fan: front door handle fell off each time it was used.
Echt Engels
Geen airco. Ramen waren kapot
Had a great night's sleep, the very large bed was very comfortable. Everywhere very clean. Room was very quiet even with the window wide open.
Very small ensuite, but adequate and very good shower.
There was a mouldy package of food in the top drawer in the chest of drawers goodness knows how long it had been there Also the bathroom was t clean, toss fidnt work and generally sub standard
No one was there!
The room was clean and the bed comfy. There was plenty of parking and its a 20 min walk to beach.
There were no staff in the building, no reception, no bar, breakfast was next door. The room was made up with tea coffee toiletries for 1 day but nobody came in to clean, make bed, add toiletries, biscuits etc. I understand you dont need clean towels for a 2 day stay but ive never paid £200 a night and not had the bed made and teacups washed. It felt like a ghost hotel. No welcome just a code for the door and sort yourself out
Everything
Nothing
Very unique, very kind gentleman on the reception upgraded us to the Kings Room. It was magnificent.
Room could have been a little cleaner.
Good location with free parking
Room wasn’t clean; the bin hadn’t been emptied before arrival so had previous occcupnats rubbish in it. There were coffee/tea spilliages on furniture which hadn’t been cleaned. Room looked tired; bathroom was quite grubby and bath didn’t work. Room was very hot so a fan would’ve been appreciated. You would expect to find a fridge in a suite. As no staff at the hotel the entry door is on a key code, several times when we arrived back the door had been left open by the previous persons exiting/entering. Rather limited TV channels. For the money you expect more.
The property has maintained the authenticity.
The top floor rooms should be little more spacious.
The history, the building, the photographs and stories about Lilly Langtry and her friends. The location was nice and quiet. Good parking in front of the building and access codes worked.
I booked two rooms. One of them had an extremely small bathroom, it was rather a struggle for two six foot tall people. The restaurant at the hotel was listed online as open for dinner, but in reality closed. Recommendations of restaurants near the beach: 2 of 3 of those were closed. It would have been helpful if the staff knew and could advise maybe rather the places local residents eat in, as those may have been open?
The Hi Hi-lite was the breakfast. Very good selection. The staff were extremely helpful & polite. The chef cooked, the best scrambled egg I’ve ever had.
Having to change rooms for 1 night as TV in Room 8 wasn’t working. Was put in Room 11. Lovely room. But, very dusty from dado rail down to skirting, cobwebs over main light & corners. Carpets need a good clean. Coffee mug was chipped, not even washed up. Then to Room 8. 1st impressions, tidy room. Until it came to bedtime, The roller blinds are at least 3 inches away from window. Once down lets in all the light back into room. Either from street light on the road or the light in the morning from about 4.30am. I did not sleep well on those 2 nights. Didn’t like the 4 pin entry code, it’s not for me. It’s 1st hotel I have stayed when your room isn’t serviced every day. On Saturday I got back at 8pm. Went to my room, door was open. When i checked everything, I noticed the bin was empty, that’s all the do!!! And finally, when I noticed the TV wasn’t working, I went downstairs to the desk, where the sign says pick up the phone & this will go through to Reception. It would have helped if the phone was plugged in.
Everything
Nothing
The house was lovely and the bedroom was beautiful, very spacious and elegant. Had everything we needed and more.
The room could have done with a good clean, there were cobwebs all over the windows and fireplace, as well as on the ceiling, there was balloon string around the four poster bed posts, the shower cubicle was small, made even worse by the fact the door was stuck closed so had to squeeze through 1 door. There were also no windows that could he opened so had to sleep with the balcony door wide open on hit night, which was facing the main road so clearly visible. There were also a pair of pyjama bottoms and some cigarette products in tbe wardrobe left from previous guests, which makes you wonder about cleanliness. We saw absolutely no staff at any point during the times we were there but people were constantly coming in and leaving. There was also an ironing board and no iron. Also, the front door handle came off in your hand every time you tried to close the door.
Good car parking. Hotel and building and decor was nice especially the memorabilia to Lilly Langtry.
Hotel very out of the way. No lifts our room was at the very top in the loft and a lot of stairs, luckily not a problem for us but it could have been for someone else. The bedside drawers had bits in . No shower. No staff on hand all issues had to be directed to the sister hotel a walk away. Meals at the sister hotel too.
A place with a soul, designed with a guiding principle in mind. It feels like we're going back in time to the 19th century. Close location to the sea, in a very green area. Breakfast served in a neighbouring hotel with a very good custom-made breakfast.
The hotel definitely needs to be restored to its former glory, but the value for money is still preserved.
Big room in the attic
Very limited channels and to top that off the TV wouldn't take my pen drive.
Fantastic room, all-round superb.
The service at breakfast was very good
The window was missing a pane and had cardboard sellotaped over it No-one welcomed us. We never saw a member of staff at Langtry manor hotel. The shower was over a very narrow bath and had a curtain. The radiator cover was broken. The television signal was poor.
The hotel is nice looking from the outside.
I was in the Kings Room. My room was dirty, full of cobwebs, the mattress was hard and I could feel the springs and the shower is aweful, its a "rain" shower and the water dribbles out so slowly. It was extremely frustrating trying to shower. The toilets flush does not work properly either. You have to flush it about 6 times just to get a bit of paper to go down.
