The location was perfect close to everything

The bed was uncomfortable and creaky also floor too.

I only stayed at the hotel for a single night before a landing trip to the Bass Rock. I booked a single room on the first floor which was very comfortable and had an en-suite shower. There are no kitchen facilities available at the hotel - instead the room is equipped with a small table-top fridge, cutlery and tea/coffee making facilities. I was provided with a small breakfast in a basket including a pot of instant porridge, yoghurt and two small croissants which was very welcome. I'm happy to recommend the Folly Hotel to anyone seeking accommodation in North Berwick at the budget end of the scale.

No hairdryer was provided in the room and I'd not brought my travel hairdryer with me since I was visiting the Bass Rock so I wasn't able to dry my hair after taking a shower before leaving the hotel early in the morning. The rooms are quite pricey for what you get - I'm just back from a much longer stay in very similar accommodation in Inverness which was around half the price per night - but I suppose that reflects the very high prices that are generally charged by the hotel / guest house sector in North Berwick.

Adequate for the price paid. The bedding & towels were clean & fresh, bed was comfortable and host was friendly.

The room window wouldn't close. The rooms are a bit dated. Staircase would be an issue for anyone with reduced mobility, very narrow and steep!

TV didn’t work, when we went to reception for help found reception and lounge all locked up and no one about. No obvious number to call in emergency, no local information about the area. Off hand receptionist who did not make us feel welcome.

Die Ausstattung ist zum Teil sehr alt, die Klospülung hat manchmal nicht richtig funktioniert. Für 2 Personen war das Zimmer viel zu klein und zu teuer.

There were no staff to speak of, the stairs were unsafe, no staff available to check out, had to post keys through front door, no breakfast, just a basket with porridge, 2 croissant, sachets of milk, 2 bags of crisps, teabags and coffee

Amazing night, been before as the accommodation and hosts were brill, looking rebooking again next year.

It was very comfortable, the staff was super helpful when I discovered I didn’t have the correct plug adapter, and the hotel was generous with the snacks. Cutest little mini fridge ever!

You are provided with a picknick style breakfast. It is in your room when you arrive. That is not great. Plus room is very small, so the only place to eat it is sitting on the bed. They have a sitting area beside reception and big coffee machine, but it appears neither gets used. So you end up in a small room with instant coffee.

The staff stayed late to book me in when my train was delayed, i really appreciated that. The breakfast was good especially as i had to head out at 5am on a trip and could eat in my room. There was a nice mix of things and the mini fridge was great. I was going on to a trip to Bass Rock, the hotel is close to the harbor and the railway station. I had also arranged that staff would hold my suitcase until i returned from the trip as i would leave before checkout time but didnt have any place to put a suitcase on the boat.

I really enjoyed my stay at The Folly Hotel. The location is excellent - very convenient for walking around North Berwick, getting to the beach, the town centre and the train station. The room was clean, cosy and well prepared, with a comfortable bed and everything needed for a pleasant stay. A special mention goes to the staff: everyone was genuinely kind, welcoming and helpful. Their warm attitude made the stay feel even more comfortable. Big respect and much love to the team - they really create a lovely atmosphere.

There were no serious issues. The room was fairly simple and not overly luxurious, but it was clean, comfortable and perfectly suitable for a relaxing stay by the sea. Some small details of the interior could perhaps be refreshed, but this did not affect the overall positive impression.

Lovely hotel close to the golf club and within a short walking distance to the Seabird Centre. Easy self check-in and friendly hosts. And the beds were sooo comfortable :)

Good welcome from staff and location is excellent.

Lots of Road noise, curtains didn’t fit properly therefore impossible to block out light. Blind was broken too. Room could have done with painting, but it was clean and the complimentary snacks were very welcome.

The hotel was 'tired. The outside needed a good sprucing up and reception and rooms were dated. The whole place needed upgrading and decorating throughout.

The staff were excellent, and very helpful. Location perfect.

Gute Lage für die Bassrocks-Tour und um mit dem Zug nach Edinburgh zu fahren. Das Zimmer war ordentlich und mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht. Im Mini-Kühlschrank waren sogar ein paar Sachen fürs Frühstück bereitgestellt.

Alles da was man für 1-2 Nächte braucht. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Im Zimmer standen Joghurt, Porridge, Gebäck für ein kleines Frühstück sogar Chips lagen dabei

Ansicht hat alles so gepasst, es war nur schade das die Lobby abgeschlossen wird. Wollten an den Tischen noch zusammensitzen bzw. morgens frühstücken.

Was working into evening the night I stayed which meant i arrived late on, as of 8:30pm. Had my dinner in the room and set for shower. It was 9:30pm and went into shower, it’s a electric shower and wasn’t powerful enough and literally about 2 mins into it, the power went off and I’m standing in suds. I’m a plasterer, and can imagine the dust and grime sweat I’ve on me and needing a hot shower, quite annoying was the nicest way of saying it. Washed myself in the sink and slept the night. WhatsApp the number supplied and was told the shower would be fixed and if I returned I’d have a shower. It was too late as I’d checked out 6:30am. No partial refund was offered and I think that says what it says, £109 a night charged

Nice triple room with a glimpse of the sea and in a good location near North Berwick railway station and the beach. Quiet at night. Friendly staff.

Hot at night, as the room is under the eaves and one of the radiators couldn't be turned off. Nice to offer some things for breakfast in the room, but a proper breakfast in the downstairs room would have been better for the price charged. Low ceilings for tall people, especially in the bathroom.

Tiny little single bed pushed in next to a wall and very low ceiling in the bathroom if your tall prepare to get bumped in the head and shower tho ok it’s a huge leap getting in and out of for the price you expect better.

My friend and I really enjoyed our stay at the Folly Hotel, the staff were very welcoming and the room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was ideal and just enough. We would highly recommend this hotel and the view from our room was very picturesque.

The location was good, at the end of the High Street, next to the golf course and two minutes walk from the beach. The welcome snack basket was excellent and the small fridge was useful. The beds were comfortable.

There was no reception, which we didn’t realise until we had started our journey. We had hoped to leave our luggage until the 3pm check in time, but we had to carry it around for three hours. There was a very steep stair up to the rooms, with a handrail that stopped a few feet before the bottom. The windows were single glazed, and because of the busy road, there was a lot of traffic noise. There was no hairdryer and no teaspoons. The curtain pole and curtain fell down in the middle of the night, narrowly missing my head!

Location was excellent . A short walk from the train station and the Main Street with all the facilities very close by . View out the window over looking the west golf was lovely also. Ideal for a few days getaway .

DON'T BE FOOLED. The Folly Hotel is closed, they are renting out old staff rooms, the rooms look nothing like the images, there are no staff on hand, they clean only where they think you will look mold on the windows holes in the walls and so much more

The communication from the hotel was great and they were speedy to reply. It’s very confidently located close to the station and a short walk from lots of cafes and shops. It also has a great view of the beach. The room was comfy (we slept amazingly) and there was a generous amount of snacks awaiting.

Our main concern was the cleanliness of the bathroom. We noticed lots of dust and a build up of gunk around the shower. We also noticed that sometimes the water in the tap ran murky.

Budget Airbnb style room at higher than budget prices. Room was fine. Space maximised, clean and quite comfortable.

No facilities apart from the room. Breakfast box wasn’t replenished despite the fact we were there for 3 night.

Self check-in double room with en-suite shower, internet, TV & kettle with basics for making a continental breakfast. Convenient, friendly, fuss-free - great value for an off-peak break.

The stairs could be difficult for anyone with mobility issues - not a problem for us.

The location was excellent and the room was spotlessly clean. There was a good basket of goodies & the mini fridge was a great help. The beds were very comfortable & the heating was good. We would return.

The stairs to the rooms are quite steep,which we were not warned about, and there was no information in the room about either the rest of thd building or the local área. Also, there was no hairdryer and only 1 regular teabag (not decaff). The provision of electrical sockets is a bit random, it is not possible to have both bedside lights on at the double bed. & the single bed does not have a bedside light.

Location was perfect as very close to train station. The breakfast/food provided exceeded our expectation and was extremly thoughthful. I would definitely book this hotel again if I was in the area.

Location for us was perfect. the cleanliness of the room and the b & b items acceptable

there was no hairdryer in the room (advertised that there is) i contacted host and one was delivered to room, however, that was only after shower. shower cubicle and other areas of the room would benefit from some love and attention. the stairs are steep to the rooms, if you have any mobility issues at all this may be an issue. eaves within room make the ceiling very low in places and would not be comfortable for taller persons. very happy with room for overnight stay and would not mind considering again. ONLY issue moving forward will be PARKING -
