Rooms cold, there was a party so you couldn’t have the main menu

Beautiful location, lovely decorated room, very tasty breakfast.

We loved our short overnight stay. Staff could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. Big shout out to Laura who was particularly helpful. Gorgeous room.. classy, comfortable & clean and a shower I could spend hours in. Gorgeous surroundings, top breakfast. Will definitely be staying again. Highly recommend

Cosy double room we stayed in was little outdated as bed frame was metal uncomfortable head rest. Pillows were lumpy. Had black stain on duvet cover. Wardrobe would have been more better for storage and having more draws. Also bathroom lacked hook to hang towel and a little shelve near the sink or cabinet would havd been helpful for toothbrushes etc.

Room was very spacious and furnishings very smart. Bathroom was really clean and the shower very nice with eco friendly shampoo, body wash and conditioner. The pillows and duvet were very comfortable. The dining room was really nice and a good selection for breakfast. Food was excellent. Absolutely beautiful area, quiet grounds. Close to Matlock so easy to get there by taxi.

The mattress was firmer than I like but not enough to cause issues.

Lovely place to stay, and the staff are a real credit to the place.

The staff were very friendly and service was great, but feel there are some training issues.

Exceptional food and breakfast. Immaculately clean throughout. Staff were a real pleasure to speak with and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Stunning hotel, beautifully decorated throughout to a high standard. Beautiful grounds to walk around or relax in.

Staff could do with a tad more training in customer experience in the restaurant, but did not spoil our stay in anyway.

The bed wasn’t comfortable

Location was great as were the surrounding gardens. Lovelly place to sit out and have a relaxing drink. All the staff were very friendly and on top of their jobs.

Only because of the heat wave in England we struggled with the heat in the bedroom although we had a fan.

Noise in bedroom from kitchen extractor fan. Plus although the weather was fine and warm, the radiators were pushing out heat in the morning,!!!!

Let down by food

Die Umgebung des Hotels ist wirklich hübsch. Es gibt einen sehr großen, schön angelegten Garten, in dem man abends noch sitzen und sich erholen kann. Man kann vom Hotel aus auch einen schönen Spaziergang unternehmen. Außerdem ist es sehr ruhig.

It was costly but worth it

I loved it all! Room was huge, grounds were extensive and beautiful, bar had a great selelction and the dinner menu was wonderful, with great provision for anyone needing Gluten-free food. Staff were helpful, especially Scarlett. And of course the weather! Great that we had a fan in our room - we needed it!

A pool would have been nice, but if you haven't got one, you haven't got one. But apart from that there was very little to fault.

Great staff. We didn't ask for anything. However, we left knowing,if we did ask. They would had granted our ask. Such beautiful surroundings, and a realy relaxing place to be. 10 out of 10, all around.

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds, unfortunately we only had one night here and couldn't enjoy them fully. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious. There were plenty of breakfast choices. The staff were all very helpful too.

Checking in was a teeny bit slow, probably because we arrived at night, so the bar man (who was really really lovely and helpful) was doubling as the receptionist. Not a massive problem, more stress for him I think.

Excellent location for the many local sites of interest. We particularly enjoyed walking from the hotel down to Cromford Mills and along the canal. The hotel has benefitted from extensive refurbishment and is well presented and appointed. It is situated in extensive very well managed grounds. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. In addition to having breakfast each morning, we dined in each evening and were very impressed with the standard of cuisine.

Room was very hot in the current heatwave, even though a fan was provided. The food was perfectly nice but not the quality that usually goes with a hotel as lovely as this.

This is a real gem of a hotel with elegant rooms and beautifully kept gardens. Much better than in the photos…I had a delightful 1 night stay welcomed by every member of staff and good evening meal in the well appointed small dining room - breakfast was similarly good and my picky tastes catered for! Great for exploring the Arkwright Mills and area

The hotel, it's location and the garden are stunning; it is set well back from a noisy road so we found it very peaceful & relaxing. The staff were friendly and for the most part, very helpful. The layout of the room with 2 single beds, a chair each, nice big windows and a fabulous bathroom suited us very well. The decor was simple & very tasteful. It was a very hot weekend but we had a fan in our room and it was safe to leave the windows open all day & night, which really helped. We booked a room with a garden view and this is exactly what we got, it was perfect. We ate dinner at the hotel every day, including an excellent Sunday roast; the food was good with enough choice for us and not too expensive. Breakfasts were also good with most items delivered to or already on the table, which prevented the usual wandering about looking for things!

The beds in our room had very firm matresses which I personally found too hard; I have osteoarthritis and the hard mattress exacerbated this. They would benefit from a topper. Service in the restaurant was mixed, staff could be slow to take your order or clear dirty plates.

It is a delightful hotel - we chose a small double room as we were counting cost but it was lovely - the hotel is excellent in every way. Beautiful gardens - so many places to sit - cannot speak highly enough of it Food was excellent - all staff were delightful - warm & friendly & very relaxed atmosphere throughout -cannot wait to return

It was noisy at night but bareable and didnt go on too late.

We love the location and the hotel grounds. the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic with a good selection of choices. The room was cosy, quiet and comfortable. The shower was very good and much appreciated after a day's walking.

Very comfortable, clean hotel with lovely gardens. The staff are friendly and attentive, the gardens are beautiful and there is a bar. It's very conveniently situated only a few minutes walk from the centre of the pretty village of Cromford. The price of b&b and dinner is reasonable. Breakfast is very good

A beautiful small boutique hotel set in well maintained grounds, creating a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The room was very comfortable and had everything you needed, with tasteful décor and a lovely hot shower that was much appreciated. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly throughout our stay. A special mention to Laura, who was particularly helpful—nothing was ever too much trouble, and she really made us feel looked after. Breakfast was excellent—very tasty and beautifully presented, setting us up perfectly for the day ahead. We would definitely recommend this hotel for its warm, friendly service and high quality detailing throughout, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book again. A particular thank you again to Laura for going above and beyond to make our stay so enjoyable.

Nothing to dislike

The level of service was exceptional at the Oakhill Hotel. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Availability of food had ended as we arrived later than expected. We were quickly given directions by the receptionist to a local pub which was still serving food. A request for an early breakfast was readily agreed to which was very helpful I would recommend the Oakhill and hope to return in the not too distant future.

Hotel was in a perfect location,you had matlock bakewell and Buxton within a 40 min drive so was perfect to visit all 3 in one day Food,service and staff were fantastic. Room was spotless and had everything you needed. If we visit area again I will definitely be staying again

Lack of hooks or towel rail in bathroom.Breakfast was very disappointing dried out bacon and black pudding inedible .Waitress said the bacon is meant to be crispy ....felt like it had been left under a hot plate and dried out.
