Braeside Country Inn

The Braeside Inn is a lovely historical property. Our host was very gracious, our room was clean, and the Inn was in an excellent and walkable location. The Inn is also very close to the Ferry.

Would suggest offering breakfast at 7 am to Better accommodate the ferry schedule.

We chose this because of its close proximity to the PEI ferry. That it turned to be a building with such history was a wonderful bonus. Historic properties are special and worth supporting, preserving and staying in. Also should mention that the opportunity to do a load of laundry was much appreciated.

We didn’t have a lot of time for breakfast but Linda was very accommodating on opening up for breakfast 15 minutes earlier than the usual posted time to allow us to grab a quick bite before heading to the ferry.

This place is so dated. Felt like we were in the movie "The Shining". The breakfast was underwhelming. Atmosphere was cold and old.

L'hôtel est proche de Heritage Quay et du petit centre de Pictou. L'endroit est chaleureux bien que nécessitant une rénovation.

C'est très vieillot, il faut juste y être préparé.

Braeside Country Inn was easy to find, and we loved the quaint feeling of it. Our hostess, Linda, was welcoming, gracious, and professional. Ours was a corner room (Rm. 9) so we had views from two sides, and that was wonderful. We spent 4 enjoyable days here, and it felt like home every time we came back from our daily adventures.

La décoration est de très mauvais goût et bizarrement. Les lits doubles étaient inconfortables et trop petits en longueur (je mesure 5’4 et mes pieds arrivaient au bout du lit). Mon mari de 6’ avait les pieds dans le vide pour dormir). La salle de bain était propre mais tout étaient trop petit; toilette minuscule avec peu de place pour les jambes à cause du mini lavabo. Salle de bain peinturé rose-bonbon, c’était ridicule. Le déjeuner continental très ordinaire, je voyage beaucoup dans des hôtels et Motels et je n’ai jamais été aussi dessus.

It is well kept and clean and the staff were very friendly. We had a lovely view of the harbour and it's probably less than a 5 minute walk to the downtown Pictou and the waterfront. Easy check in and check out.

I would of liked a coffee maker or keurig in our room and I would recommend having an ice machine available for the guests. Coffee maker, and ice are available you just need to call the front desk to get some. Breakfast was good, though for a continental breakfast I would of preferred another option for protein besides a boiled egg. The only other thing is the mattress it was rock hard in our room (King bed)

Extrêmement déçu en regard des 4 étoiles et du prix payé. C’est une vieille maison à l’insonorisation déficiente. Le bruit de la climatisation de fenêtre est inversement proportionnel à son efficacité. Les chambres et salles de bain ont besoin d’attention (trous dans les murs rebouchés au plâtre, sans ponçage. Pas de ventilation dans la salle de bain). Le petit déjeuner se compose de coupes de yogourt vanille, salade de fruits, et toasts. Le thé est déjà infusé, donc sans choix de parfum ou de degré d’infusion. Ce n’est définitivement pas un 4 étoiles. Très mauvais rapport qualité - prix.

Die Eigentümerin und ihre Familie sind super freundlich und zuvorkommend. Sie geben sich alle Mühe. Das Frühstück ist klein, aber in Ordnung und ausreichend. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis passt, vor allem für eine Nacht auf Durchreise.

Das Haus ist in die Jahre gekommen, eine Renovation wäre angebracht. Es wirkt etwas schmuddelig. Das Wasser fliesst teilweise nur etwas stockend. Das Gebäude ist generell ziemlich hellhörig.

The Inn has a historic charm that is increased by it being a family run business. While the rooms and common spaces are not new, they are clean, and we very much enjoyed our stay.

There is no elevator, which was ok for us, but might be difficult for those with accessible needs.

L’auberge est vraiment bien placé par rapport aux petits restos et nous avions vue sur l’eau … mention spéciale à la propreté !! N’hésitez pas à arrêter à Pictou et dormir dans cette chaleureuse auberge !!

The window fly screen was a bit broken but it was ok for a short stay, considering the room price was very cheap.

The owner was very busy but still acknowledged I came in. She was running off her feet getting people organized with their slotted room(s) and kept very calm and friendly. The room was really cute for one person. The breakfast in the morning was nicely set up and had great views from the windows. She was selling silk flowers at a great price as well has her book of her immigration to Nova Scotia and how she came about buying this hotel.

The only thing to suggest is to have different curtains to accommodate the space for the A/C (shorter on that side)

Lautes Zimmer, irgendwelche Klimaanlagen laufen laut auch Nachts. Der Kühlschrank ist nicht Hotelstandard und laut. wir mussten den Kühlschrank Nachts ausschalten zu wenig Ablagen im Badezimmer. Badezimmer winzig klein

Angenehm großes Zimmer mit Blick aufs Wasser. Alles sauber. Das Hotel ist auf einer Anhöhe gelegen, alt, gepflegt und mit Charakter, sehr gut geführt

Nous sommes restés au Breaside Country Inn avec ma famille de France. La bâtisse a un charme historique exceptionnel ! Le salon et la salle à manger sont décorés avec soin, les meubles sont de qualité et en harmonie avec cette belle résidence historique. Notre chambre était très jolie, bien décorée, et très propre. Les lits sont confortables et toute ma famille a très bien dormi. Les petits déjeuners offrait des choix variés et de qualité, de quoi satisfaire l'appétit et les goûts de tout le monde ! Le service était très chaleureux, avec conseils personnalisés pour les activités et restaurants à Pictou. Et une belle surprise en soirée : on a croisé une biche et son petit faon dans le jardin de l'hotel, les enfants étaient ravis ! Merci beaucoup à Linda et sa famille de nous avoir si merveilleusement accueilli !

Breakfast was very basic. Bathroom small but clean and they did explain it was small. TV very complicated. Staff were very friendly! Location was very good.

The room was super cute and perfect size for 1 person. The Inn was beautiful. Linda was really friendly and helpful. She checked to make sure I knew I had booked the smaller room (its a little cheaper than the standard queen). I was very happy with the room. No harbour view from the smaller rooms but the property has a beautiful wooden deck out front that guests can sit on and watch the harbour. Continental breakfast in the morning. A great stay. I love the old historic properties.

Very cozy and clean B&B place in a historical building, the host Linda is very nice.

Beautiful building & rooms. Well maintained. Only issue was that our room was on 3rd floor and no elevator. Would definitely recommend it though & would stay there again.

Linda met us at the door and proceeded to give us recommendations for restaurants prior to showing us the property and our bedroom. The bedroom was fairly large with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was continental style and Linda was there to make sure that anything we needed was provided to us.

Small desk could have had a lamp to use as needed to keep a larger light on to work when my wife was sleeping.

Das Hotel lieg in der Stadt, jedoch sehr Ruhig am Hafen. Das Historische Hotel aus dem Jahre 1938 ist ein Charmates Haus, dem man die Geschichte und die Jahre ansehen kann. Linda was a very gracious and attentive host, a lovely hotel.

We were welcomed by Linda ans she provided information regarding restuarants and attractions in the area. The room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was continetal style with lots of selection.

As an older building there is no elevator but the site informs you of this before you book

The room was on the third floor with a view over the harbour. Well presented and clean but a little dated, as expected. The hotel is on a hillside a little outside the main shopping area so you get great views. There was a continental breakfast included in the price with a selection of breads, cereals, water melon and the usual tea coffee and juice

The dining room was rather dark and dated but that was the period of the property and that was how it was sold.

Le garçon de l'accueil a fait l'effort de me parler en français et a porté ma grosse valise à l'étage. Le wifi était correct.

Cet hôtel affiche 4 étoiles alors qu'il est du niveau d'un motel 2 étoiles ordinaire. Le confort n'est pas du tout à la hauteur du prix. Le lit craque à chaque mouvement, on entend très bien les ronflements de son voisin, la salle de bain est d'un confort minimal, pas même un éclairage au dessus du lavabo... Quant au petit déjeuner, le café est transparent, les croissants coupés en 2 mais ça tombe bien, on n'a absolument pas envie d'en manger un entier après l'avoir goûté... J'ai payé trop cher pour accepter des petits désagréments.

This property is located on high ground with great views over the ocean. It is literally on the edge of the town with an easy 5 minute walk into town and the waterfront. The owners are very welcoming and informative. Although the management offers laundry facilities, we walked into town to the very clean and efficient public launderette. There are several good restaurants on the waterfront and without the need to drive to them there is the opportunity to admire the ocean view whilst sipping wine.

We could not understand why if the Ferry leaves at 8:30 why their Breakfast did not start until 7:30. That was cutting it close so we left without breakfast. I know it's an old home. But no elevator was a challenge for my husband as it was 4 flights of stairs to go up 2 floors. Neighbors dog out back woke us up 2 times. We like sleeping with windows open by the ocean but this was a big mistake.

Earlier breakfast time. MUCH better TV system. Warn people about the "stairs" and the dog barking.

Room was adequate, nicely appointed. Liked the period decor of this historic inn. Appreciated having a fridge in the room. Nice to have a key to the front door. Property secured after hours, only accessible with a key provided by the owner. Liked learning about the history of the inn and the journey of the current owners.

Would have liked more protein options at breakfast, maybe cheese or a slice of luncheon meat. Missed having a coffee maker and microwave in the room, but imaging these were omitted due to space and wanting to keep rooms tidy. Microwave was available in the shared parlor downstairs.
