Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The location was absolutely stunning, and both the surroundings and the property itself were superb. The staff were equally impressive warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. However, one area that could be improved is the food selection and variety. Considering the overall standard of the property, we felt the dining spread could have been more extensive and better suited to guests with different tastes and preferences. In particular, having a wider and more balanced selection of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options would have made a significant difference. Considering the concept was a set menu.
The F&B experience was perhaps the one aspect of the property that fell slightly short of our expectations. Considering the number of rooms and the diverse profile of guests the property caters to, we felt there could have been a wider variety of food and beverage options available. A simple pre arrival survey to understand guests’ dietary preferences, preferred cuisines, and beverage choices could be a great initiative. This would allow the culinary team to better anticipate guest expectations and curate menus that offer a more balanced and enjoyable selection. The property itself offers a wonderful overall experience, and with a little more focus on the variety and flexibility of the F&B offering, it could make the stay considerably more complete and memorable. Another point I would like to highlight relates to the porcelain dispensers used for the shower gel and shampoo. While they certainly complement the aesthetics of the bathroom, I feel the choice of material could be reconsidered from both a safety and practical perspective. In a wet shower environment, these dispensers can quite easily become slippery and fall, potentially breaking and creating a safety hazard due to the sharp porcelain pieces. Unfortunately, one of the dispensers slipped from my hand during my stay and broke, for which I was subsequently charged for the damaged dispenser. I would strongly suggest considering a durable, unbreakable alternative that maintains the same premium appearance while being safer and more practical for guests. This would not only reduce the risk of injury but would also avoid situations where guests incur additional charges for what can quite easily be an accidental occurrence during normal use. While I understand the property's policy regarding damaged items, I believe reconsidering the material would ultimately enhance both guest safety and the overall customer experience.
Location, view, service, food
Wooden flooring needs slightly better upkeep
Good
Food
The location
The service was sub standard.
We stayed in the tree house and it was an incredibel experience - a bit scary at night, not for the faint heart. The staff there truly made the stay special - not to mention the breathtaking views!!
The location of the property is excellent and all rooms are waterfall facing. The housekeeping and restaurant staff is very courteous and serve food with utmost love and care. The lunch was a typical south Indian thali served on a banana leaf , dinner had fresh non veg and sea food speciality. Breakfast was decent.
However the rooms are old. I stayed in the suite and the flooring was broken and old. It had a jacuzzi but only 2 nozzles on one side of the jacuzzi were functional. Property was not clean. There were ants and insects all over. Dining tables were full of ants which were moving on to our food plates and cutlery also. Dinner time was kept dark with just candle light so it was more sacry as we were not able to see these ants and insects. None of the Internet service providers are effective in Athirapillay. And inspite this basic facilities like wifi was not there in the resort. Guests didnt had access to internet connectivity. Internet was only available at reception area. Rooms wifi was not working and the resort was not able to rectify wifi issue. The resort is too expensive and does not give value for money at all. We paid almost 70K for 2 rooms but the resort was not even providing basic amenities. The manager Sobin was very strict in maintaining the check out time even though we had compromised our stay in all other above specified points. He even charged us for two small coffee ordered for our guest , although the waivers of such petty expenses would have covered for some of the negative points of the resort. Manager Sobin need to learn nuances of hospitality industry and could have managed the situation well but he was a disaster which added to the guest experience going from bad to worse.
Great location of the resort. Amidst nature. Peaceful, barring a few noisy group that came in on Saturday.
The walk up to the Spa was painful. There should be a better pathway to walk.
The view and the staff were very courteous
The price was a bit in the higher side
The staff were really friendly, and the food was amazing. The view of the waterfalls was also incredible.
We stayed in the treehouse which was not in as good condition as I expected given the high cost we paid to stay there. For example the chair covers and the curtains were stained - the chair covers could do with replacing for example. The mosquito net seemed quite stained too but we didn’t need it so we removed it from the bed. The treehouse could also be better maintained generally, at one point what looked like a rat ran through which wasn’t very pleasant - the hotel should make sure any gaps are covered in the structure where possible so this doesn’t happen.
Fabulous location and great decor. Probably the most stylish hotel we’ve stayed at yet in India - a great mix of timber, tiles, artwork, fabrics and comfy furnishings in the rooms. The pool area and views are absolutely fabulous. Comfy bed and great lighting throughout the resort and rooms.
Sadly the dining experience was well below par with any other dining we’ve had in India - be it roadside or a 5 star resort. We headed to dinner at 7.45 and were told we’d be served a set menu - which came out in a very steady rush, was all cold food and no spice or flavour. We were given water and when we asked for a non alcoholic drinks menu were not given one. We asked for soda water and were told they’d run out. For the equivalent of aud$500 a night for a room, it just felt like there wasn’t great value for money there. A good dining experience would make this a great stay.
The place was just great and staff were very kind and welcoming
Our three-night stay at the Rainforest Resort in Athirappilly was nothing short of magical. Waking up each morning to the thunderous beauty of the waterfall felt surreal, and the comfort of our room made it easy to sink into the rhythm of the place. But what truly set this experience apart was the people who cared for us. Snehal deserves the highest praise. His warmth and dedication transformed our stay into something unforgettable. He not only arranged a personal bike ride to another waterfall, but seemed to anticipate our needs before we even voiced them. His constant attention and genuine kindness made us feel less like guests and more like family. The chef’s food was another highlight—every meal was a celebration of authentic Indian flavors, varied and beautifully prepared. During our month in India, this was some of the finest food we tasted. He would come to our table, eager to know if there was anything more he could do, though the answer was always no—everything was already perfect. I must also mention the coffee, prepared by a gentleman whose name I regret forgetting. It was rich, aromatic, and easily among the best cups I’ve ever had. Meanwhile, my partner indulged in a three-day spa treatment guided by the on-site doctor. She emerged from it feeling renewed, as if the stress of travel had melted away. This was not just a stay—it was an experience woven with care, flavor, and unforgettable hospitality. Athirappilly Rainforest Resort gave us memories we will carry forever, and we recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone seeking both comfort and magic in equal measure.
The only slight issue we had was the shower temperature was scalding hot and it took a couple of days to sort out but it certainly did not effect the quality of our stay.
Tree house is a one in a lifetime experience. We could not leave our balcony as view of falls and sound of birds was hypnotic. Staff very attentive and good at their job. Server at meals was amazing.
Food was plentiful but taste was not great - tasted like large resort food in a smaller resort. Coffee though was wonderful!
View was excellent. Breakfast was good.
Had to check out fairly early. 1030am
The view, the location perfectly placed.
Overpriced for the tree house with very limited spacing. Price is only for the view rest is very basic. Insects coming through the bottom wooden gaps. Also the timings are so strict for the activity, they arrange one activity and by the time we are back the tea timing is closed and say it's over. Same with other things which we didn't feel great being an hospitality field.
The location is perfect, straight out of a postcard, a spectacular place, in the middle of the forest and a view of the impressive Athirapally Falls, the rooms are large and spacious and you can see the waterfall from every window, a spacious and beautiful shower. Comfortable bed, good air conditioning. We ordered the tribal dinner which was a lovely experience, the hotel staff was very professional and kind, they pampered us with a foot massage. perfect place .
There was no hot water in the shower. In a hotel of such a high standard, expensive and in a beautiful shower, one would expect there to be hot water, but there wasn't, and it was very disappointing.
Staff was very friendly and helpful
Nothing
Location
Location,Location and location and yes we loved the lunch served on banana leaf.
Towels were not clean, hairs lying on the bed. Overall not clean room which was disappointing.
Breakfast was superb
Everything was exceptional
Location, view, service, and food. They had cycles and board games, a swimming pool, and a fabulous ayurvedic massage facility. Special mention to the staff for their warmth and service
We spent five unforgettable days at Rainforest in Athirapally in February 2025, and from the moment we arrived, we knew it was a special place. The atmosphere is incredibly relaxing, and the view of the waterfalls is simply breathtaking. The rooms are spacious and airy, with thoughtful touches like handmade soap. We also really appreciated the hotel’s commitment to sustainability—no plastic bags or cutlery, and dim lighting at night to avoid disturbing wildlife. The swimming pool was another highlight. It’s kept crystal clear and cleaned every morning, and swimming with the waterfalls in the background is an experience in itself. Being surrounded by forest, we spotted sambar deer, leaf birds, wild boars, and giant squirrels—it felt like being in the heart of nature. But what truly made our stay special was the service team, especially Zakhir and Suresh, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Their kindness, attentiveness, and genuine care made all the difference, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Rainforest felt like home away from home, and we can’t wait to come back.
Nothing. This place was perfect.
The location is spot on , The ayurvedic massage offered around 2750 60 mins for two people is a steal deal.
Pool was little dirty since it’s in open
Sitting out and watching that waterfall is almost priceless (although they did manage to price it!) staff are very kind and welcoming.
The view and the experience from the tree house
Cleanliness of the house externally and internally as well.
A very special place. Quite unique. Fantastic views. Charming, helpful staff. Good food. Great breakfasts. Gorgeous rooms, very clean and well appointed all overlooking the waterfall. Good walks all around. Lovely Spa, reasonably priced, they will give you a discount if you ask. We took a short walk down to the Tree House (they will give you a key if it is not booked). We had sundowners there, delightful! The hotel is alcohol free so Bring your own drinks. It is also plastic free - highly commendable! Highly recommend even if it is rather expensive………. But there’s nothing like it.
Nothing
What a very special place this is, we were enchanted. Had a fabulous spa treatment, watching the monkeys with their babies while having a head massage. Truly the most relaxing place I’ve stayed in. I had room 6, a standard room which was perfect, a dressing room to hide my suitcase and stuff! We had sundowners in the tree house. And the waterfall was in full flow. Lovely food, lovely staff. Yes, it’s expensive, but so worth it.
Very friendly and helpful staff
More cleanliness
The location is simply out of the world. 100/10 for that. The staff is very good . Food was also amazing there was variety in the food. All meals are covered in the price it was all worth it. The ambience of the place is calm and relaxing. It is very well designed.
There's nothing as such to not like.
The view
Poorly maintained - Leaking balcony, cockroach in room, dirty pool, mediocre food options, really really small property with nothing to do but watch the waterfall for 24 hours. Overpriced.
Very good location with excellent view of waterfalls from room. All staff were good, helpful & efficient.
Highly charged ,, Below average food, not value for money…
The location and the staff hospitality are awesome..Mr suresh and nanu were very helpful
The view is perfect and the staff were really courteous especially Nanu and Shabu. Find was delicious.
Nothing, it was a perfect weekend
The property is in a beautiful location. Calm and peaceful.
During our stay everything was okay.
Everything location room cleanliness staff behaviour... exceptional
Dinner at night...you must keep some Indian and sea food at night chicken was not good at all ...must give wheat parantha or wheat roti...
Waterfall view
No value for money…they charge an arm and a leg for a very mediocre property…
The property is in an excellent location. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the service is top notch. The food is awesome too. The staffs are courteous and they go out of the way to make the stay memorable.
The food is excellent, staff are super helpful, the guide was excellent and location views are stunning. A perfect place for a couple of days.
No faults
My experience in rain forest Welcome given on a very rude manner. Welcome drinks and snacks were given but before even we finish it the manager was in a hurry to put us in our room. Since there was an vip guest they want to be present there and treated us very rudely. Food : menu is fixed and you can't have what u like to have. Imagine you are on a vacation and you can't even eat wat you feel like eating. Once I called for a cup of tea to reception. Back call came that tea is available in the room and you can make it with water. I insisted that i want tea with milk and sugar. Not with hot water. Another incident is that i called up reception for any pain relief oil for headache. I was surprised that the call was answered by ayurvedic doctor who is sitting on reception. Initially he said in our lab we don't have any kind of pain relief oil. And after insisting he said that i have to purchase it for 300 rs. I mean these are all some basic first aid that they should be ready in middle of the forest. Bathroom drain was fully clogged with dirt and not cleaned properly... No basic aminities like kettle, spoon, brush, paste, inside the room. And no food is allowed inside the room. (For this I guess they shud have a valid reason.) Manager was very rude in the sense he was more like ordering and not a service friendly person. I felt like a jail when there was a restriction in food menu and stict instruction to come by 8 for treaking. Apart from the view the hotel has nothing. Swimming pool was so dirty that no one could use it. May be they will treat oly vip's as their guest and not normal people who book the room for the same price as paid by the vip's. Very disappointing behaviour by the general manager. Not worth visiting rain forest resort.

Dirty swimming pool, fixed food menu.
Guide support from Mr Suresh
Cheaters
cheaters cancelled the booking without any reason
Initially we thought it was overpriced, but gradually we felt the value for money. Excellent and smiling staff.
Except for location everything was worse. Plus don’t book through booking.com. They double book and resort will say room not available.
Service was poor
Location, ambiance and food
Everything was perfect!
The property is best for its location and food served by staff.
View
No tv in the room
site of the waterfall !!
amenities were not well maintained, food was really poor for the price they charge
Cordialement,
Lovely trip
Best hotel we stayed in during our trip
We stayed in the tree house for two nights which is highly recommended. The staff here are incredibly helpful and accommodating - they made us feel very welcome. The location is second to none - it is without a doubt the best view of the waterfall. We took a guide walk from the hotel to the falls, and as they own the land next to the waterfall we were able to go to a view point not open to the public. We were also able to bathe in one of the pools of fresh mountain water which was really special. The treehouse is a fantastic experience. It felt like paradise to wake up and be greeted with a breathtaking view of the waterfalls. We saw many monkeys, birds, and Samba deer. It really did feel at one with nature. Food in the restaurant was very tastey and there was a great selection of foods at breakfast. Their Indian coffee is delightful! A must if in Kerala!
Too expensive
The hotel is nice, but for the price you have to pay they should give you something more than the amazing view of waterfalls. Staff polite but the organization was a little bit weak: we were the only guests, the menu for dinner was quite essential, the swimming pool was out of order. I mean, if they price was 50 euros per night it would be a great hotel... but paying more the 200 euros per night is definitively too much.
Gorgeous overview of the falls and the room and bathroom were very spacious but the jacozi would take hours to fill. The staff are slightly hard to communicate to, it took me possibly 10 phone calls to manage to get urgent dry clean service! We also struggled when asking for late checkout, but we finally managed to get it. Can be thought of as overpriced considering the poor service, but you pay for the view. Lovely for a one night stay.
It was a good end to our whirlwind honeymoon trip through South-Central Kerala. The room was as it had been promised. The upgrade offered at no extra cost was a special plus. We just wished that the kitchen had more food choices on offer than the really flimsy menu. We also wished that the water in the bathroom was actually heated as opposed to being just tepid.
And that's it, for the view of the falls and polite hotel staff, the high tariff seems worth it.
