Friendly staff… the host was great Room was clean and spacious, elegant furnishings Breakfast was only continental but there was a good choice I would stay here again

Location

Very clean, comfortable and owner so friendly.
Comfy bed
Very old fashioned
Spotless, comfortable bed, warm and welcoming
Nothing, everything was great
Free off street parking. Close to beach and local pub. Friendly staff.
Decor a bit dated
Location and the ambience of the property. The staffs were quite helpful and polite. 👍🏼
When booked via booking.doc, it said breakfast included. Though the continental was great, no hot food was available, which was a disappointment.
Dicht bij het strand en parkeren op eigen terrein
Beperkt aantal stopcontacten op de kamer
l’accueil charmant du propriétaire.
Very good hotel
Quiet and comfortable hotel in a great location for the beach. The breakfast was very good, and the staff were efficient at refilling the buffet.
Excellent location and breakfast. Good parking included, The property was beautifully clean and tastefully decorated.
It would have been nice to have been offered a fan as the weather was extremely hot, as was the room although we did have fully opening windows An EV charge point would be useful,
Room beautiful
“Breakfast needs further improvement and more effort to ensure it meets the expected standard.”
Absolutely amazing hotel, very friendly staff. Fantastic location.
Location and nice breakfast friendly staff

The host was super friendly!
Nothing, it was perfect
Well situated with excellent, spacious,accommodation.
Great location close to a stunning beach and restaurants. All were easily accessible on foot. There is a pub which serves food literally 200 yards away. The owners were very welcoming on arrival and the continental breakfast was good.
Comfortable, clean, nice decor
Nothing
The location just on top of Branksome Chine beach Most comfortable bed I have ever had I a hotel, and at last ... a hotel with firm pillows, thank you!
Nothing
Situated perfectly
A little out dated
Location is very good !
No fans at all which is very uncomfortable with this summer being so hot.
Beautiful, comfortable, clean room and very friendly and welcoming staff. We had a very pleasant relaxing stay. Breakfast also very enjoyable.
Nothing.
The hotel situated just in 10 min away from the sea. Very delicious breakfast. Very clean.
Lovely old Victorian property lovingly family run. Spacious rooms and bathrooms , bright and airy .
Really great location, a short walk to the beaches and restaurants. Parking, clean and lovely room, quiet. Lovely welcome from the owners Nice breakfast too.
Underbart hotell!
It's always a pleasure to stay at this hotel. You are greeted by the owner who always makes you feel welcome. The hotel is in a great location, and family run, to a very high standard. There isn't anything that they haven't thought of, including proper china cups and chocolates on the pillow. The beds are the most comfortable we have ever slept in. In fact, I sleep better at the Grovefield, than at home!!!!! The property is furnished and decorated sympathetically for the period of the property and it's always spotless. The continental breakfast is varied and offers lovely fresh fruit, crumpets, porridge, croissants, cereal, yoghurts, fruit juice etc etc. All lovely. The staff are exceptional as it is family owned, and they take a pride in their business. We have stayed at the Grovefield Manor Hotel many times, and hopefully we'll stay many more. We can highly recommend it.
Nothing
I had a very bad experience at this hotel and I do not recommend it to anyone. When I checked in, the owner immediately complained to me about my Booking.com reservation. He said, “Why did you book through Booking.com? Now I have to pay them commission,” and gave me a whole lecture. That already felt unprofessional. When I entered the room during a heatwave, I expected a 4‑star hotel to have air conditioning, but there was none. I went downstairs to ask for a fan, and he told me all the fans were taken and there were none left. The room was also not clean. There was damp on the wall and dust on the bed board. The next morning at 9:00am, the owner woke me up by knocking on my door, telling me I must check out by 10:30 or I would get a fine.I checked out at 10:45 and he charged me a £30 late checkout fee. When I told him I didn’t like the way he was speaking to me, he said he swore at me. His wife then came out, and when I told her her husband was being rude, she also swore at me and threatened to call the police. This hotel needs to be re‑assessed because it is not 4 stars. It is not even close to 2 stars. Very rude owners, dirty room, no AC, no fan, and unfair charges.
The hotel is very near Branksome Chine beach and a nice pub the Inn on the Park. Very helpful in sorting out the booking. Rooms comfortable.
I enjoyed the breakfast which was very nice - cereal, crumpets yoghurt and fruit. There is no cooked full English breakfast though so if you are looking for that this is not the hotel for you.
Excellent value for money. Very clean. Fantastic customer service. Perfect location.
There was nothing to dislike at all.
Good
Nothing
no air con
Great location, very close to the beach
There wasn’t any fresh air in the reception or sitting room area. It smelled more like an old antique shop than a 5-star manor hotel. Considering the price we paid for the largest room, it didn’t feel worth it. There was no air conditioning for the summer, no fan, and the windows only opened slightly. The biggest issue, though, was the visible mould showing through underneath the wallpaper. The breakfast area was nice and well presented. The staff were pleasant enough, but the breakfast was just like any standard continental breakfast you can get elsewhere. Nothing particularly special, and there were no gluten-free or vegan options available.
location was excellent
sadly i feel the whole place could do with an update/upgrade. There was mould in the bathroom, no refridgerator in the room, a charge for corking and ice! No fan in this extreme heat. Although the elderly host was pleasant enough he almost forgot to give us the key to the room and stated that he 'hated people that arrived late at night'! - might be an idea to let him retire and get someone a little younger in!
Owner was very friendly and allowed us to check in an hour early. Room was spacious and bed comfortable. Continental breakfast was varied with fresh fruit, yogurt, pasteries, fruit juices, toast.... Very close to the beach and buse stop literally outside hotel
Nothing
Great location, clean and conformable. Very friendly and welcoming staff
Nothing
Family owned and operated. They were so helpful and chatty. Nothing too much trouble. Lovely people
Nothing
Lovely location, very clean and tidy, I had a spacious, double-aspect garden room. Very attentive welcome.
A little dated, but more than made up for by the welcome, overall ambience, and great location.
Friendly, professional, polite staff. Very efficient. We loved our room it was outstanding. Great location to beach. Pub and restaurant. A lovely continental breakfast. Had a great variety choice. Car parking on site. We couldn't have asked for any better.😄
There was not anything we disliked
Old and rustic
Nothing
We enjoyed the kindness, hospitality, comfort and cleanliness as well as the surroundings.
Well we CAN hear the comments made in the kitchen and peivate quarters about us and the ‘inconvenience’ caused by not coming together for breakfast. So maybe..quieter comments or not at all of the guests are generally nice, respectful, clean and orderly? :D
The location is good for the beach, and the parking is useful
Where do I start? This was a very disappointing stay given the price paid for the room. The hotel is quaint but aging, with some areas needing decorating. The room was spacious, but the TV was old (not even HD) and the remote didn't work. The bathroom was dilapidated, with an old shower enclosure and a 20 year old electric shower with a scale dup heads and a leaky shower tray. Water pressure at the sink taps was meagre. Breakfast was a basic cold buffet - with a sign emphasising they do not provide cooked food ("of any kind"), apart from toast.
Close to the Port The owner was pleasant on arrival
It was more like a guest house than a hotel Far too expensive for what it was Hungry and thirsty on arrival and no ability to order anything. Told to go to local pub three doors away which was closing. Only offered continental breakfast we didn’t bother staying for it Extortionate waste of money
Very friendly welcome. Very good information. Everything great!!
Nothing whatsoever.
Location is amazing. Quick walk to the Chine and straight into the sea. Breakfast was good with fresh fruit and yogurt and plenty of choice. Room was comfortable. Grovefield Manor is quite old fashioned in many ways. Quirky would be a good word to describe it, which is always fun.
It was extremely hot and the fan put into the room couldn't really cope. Shower is very noisy. We came back very late from a night safari on Brownsea Island and I hope we didn't disturb anyone when we showered.
Parkplatz auf dem Grundstück, gut organisiert. Freundliches Personal. Wasser kostenlos.
Leider oft ausgebucht.
Location and lively old house
Checking in takes too long - friendly but going through a list is not necessary
We loved the traditional feel of the hotel, and how close it was located to the beach! The owner is an absolute diamond of a guy, still managing the hotel in his 80s, lots of amazing old decor in the communal areas, chandeliers etc. All staff very polite. Bed was incredibly comfortable, fresh sheets and towels. Bath and shower spotless.
The room could have been cleaner, water pressure was very low, never enough tea, coffee, sugar, milk pots but thats the same everywhere. Window safety latch broken, no full English brekkie option, conflicting bar closure times, wardrobe definitely haunted, sparkly breakfast waitress was a bit scary, mould patches on ceiling in bathroom, dust piles behind lamp.
Beautiful house, lovely big room & friendly welcome from the owner. Delicious continental breakfast with the best croissants this side of the channel! Great recommendations for dinner from the pub down the road & beautiful walk to the beach. Fantastic
Shower didn’t drain very well but nice big shower with good pressure.
Room had everything you needed. Very clean and tidy. Bed very comfortable, breakfast, again everything was presented very clean and tidy.
Nothing .
Quiet location with ample parked no
Real character property with sympathetic decor yet modern facilities.
Great location and close to everything you need and the host and staff were excellent.
Convenience for ferry
We couldn’t get a takeaway breakfast early
Nothing
Old tired place with creaky floorboards. Say that breakfast is included but it’s only cold food. They do not do hot food at all. Checkout is 10:30 but at 10 I was woken up by housekeeping knocking at the door. Shower knob was impossible to move so I ended up having a cold shower. No fan supplied and can’t leave a window open because there is a fire escape outside the room. The room was unbearably hot. And lastly, They advertise as a 5 star hotel but I can find no mention of them on the AA or RAC websites
Great location for Poole Ferry. Chris is always welcoming even when arriving late at night. Lovely staff and breakfast.
Single room was fine but shower dated.
Classic hotel room great VFM, parking and amazing quality continental breakfast
Beds were comfortable
We thought it an overpriced B&B. Gruff manager. Rooms were not fully serviced over the 4 nights. Beds made that's all. Continental breakfast only. We had hoped for a real treat and paid over £200 a night. Not a treat at all in our musty room with home made , clunky, ill fitting furniture. Grin and bare it.
For breakfast a great variety of hams, cheeses, cereals, yoghurts, fruits, jams, pastries, toast, tea/coffee, toast and more, everything was plentiful. The room was large and clean and the bed was comfy, nice shower and fluffy towels. Quiet area,
We had excellent short stay at grovefield manor. Starting from welcoming reception by the staff to check out.
Zimmer waren sehr nett. Die Räumlichkeiten waren sehr schön eingerichtet, wie ein nobles englisches Haus. Die Stube hat zum lesen in einem großen Sessel eingeladen. Die Nähe zum Strand ist auch ein großes Plus.
Excellent location! Good warm people!
Continental breakfast only but plentiful food. Reasonable location.
Dusty and cobwebs on skylight in bathroom ceiling.
From A to Z, everything was fantastic. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and supportive throughout our stay. Unfortunately, we had to leave earlier than planned due to an incident with our car. However, the generosity and kindness of the owner truly impressed us, as they kindly agreed that we could return another time to enjoy the remainder of our stay. We could not have been happier with the experience we had, even from the very first night. Highly recommended. Special thanks to dear Chris and De Dior 🥰
Nothing at all, although it would have been lovely to have a hot breakfast option available. That said, they kindly offered toast and porridge alongside a beautiful, flavourful continental breakfast, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Everything else was absolutely perfect.
Lovely house , location, breakfast everything!
NOthing
Chris was wonderful and kindly upgraded our room and told us about the hotel´s history.
All good
Quiet surroundings and premises spotlessly clean with parking.
The atmosphere of a care home, general decor antiquated. Bedroom dark and claustrophobic, glass chandelier too low over one side of a hard bed and fittings in the bathroom meant the top of the toilet was part of the basin - teeth cleaning etc it was not hygienic. The 'Award Winning' breakfast was a meagre self-service 'continental' affair with wafer thin cheese, mixed meats looking past their best, overcooked croissants etc honey crystalised in little plastic pots.
Everything and looking forward to returning
Nothing not to like. Absolutely nothing
Fijn! Heel mooi ingericht, kraakhelder schoon, vriendelijk personeel. Super!
Niets!
We needed somewhere to stay in Poole and this place filled that need
My husband was recovering from a broken hip and couldn’t get up the stairs. The owner put us in an available ground floor room at e tra cost which was fair but it was damp, cold and unaired so we were not comfortable in spite of the fact he put the heating on . T he breakfast was a cold, continental breakfast , rather thin and disappointing.
Continental breakfast. Very wide selection, good quality
Would have been ice to have a cooked breakfast
The room was beautiful and thoughtfully presented and the staff were fantastic!
Owner, location & room size
Difficult to get hot shower
Location clean tidy breakfast ok and free parking
Broken bed knob very small door, lock and Handle, shaver socket did work unless main light on water pressure poor
An impressively grand building so close to the sea front. Full of character.
Nothing.
Brilliant
Nothing
The location is good and the room was clean and had a good size.
The weather in April was cold and windy so we would have appreciated the room to be warmer, especially at night.
This property is perfectly located between two of my favourite towns, Bournemouth and Poole. The convenience is unbeatable, with the number 50 bus stop just 10 yards from the car park. Our room was spacious, spotless, and filled with natural light from a lovely wide window. The king-size bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom featured both a shower and a bath with excellent hot water pressure—exactly what you need after a long day! The continental breakfast was generous and varied, supported by exceptional staff who anticipate your every need. However, the highlight was the warm welcome from Christopher, the owner. He explained everything clearly and acted as a wonderful guide, offering great local tips on restaurants and beaches. Plus, Badaway Beach is only a 150-yard walk away. Highly recommended!
My coffee cups disappeared after cleaning my room. And that: we could stay only this short period.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The atmosphere was beautifully old-fashioned and romantic, which made the experience even more special. Everything was spotlessly clean and very well maintained.
Everything is just delightful
We loved everything
A small, comfortable and quiet guesthouse, in a great location close to the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff. We visited mainly to make day-trips to the beautiful Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour and RSPB Arne, but there is much more to do in the area, and some great restaurants nearby.
Whilst the continental breakfast was very comprehensive and great, it would have been really good to have the option of more protein (eggs etc.) for those with pre-diabetes.
The locality was perfect. Central to all our needs. All rooms and areas were very clean. All staff very friendly and helpful.
Though the breakfast was lovely didn’t realise a cooked (English) breakfast was not an option. Returning in the evening found the exterior of the hotel entrance & carpark in total darkness some nights.
Location and free parking
Breakfast severed too late
Shower was ok
No cooked breakfasta
The position of the hotel . very clean and freindly staff and good breakfast. Very pleased with everything.
The very professional, polite & friendly staff. Quiet and clean room Fantastic fresh continental breakfast Parking Charming hotel
Chris kindly checked me in really late into the night. The hotel is lovely and the location is super if you need to get to the beach, or any of the local restaurants. Breakfast is continental but is fantastic and its everything you need. Thanks again for having me! Tom
Nothing.
