The room was lovely & the bed comfortable. The breakfast was amazing & the owners were lovely & couldn't do enough for us. Perfect stay.

We stayed with our elderly parents & the stairs in the hotel were tough for them.

The staff were very accommodating and welcoming into their extended home. Breakfast was delicious.

We had a room at the front which was clean and comfortable but the road noise kept us awake alot of the night.

Karl and Jocelyn are exceptional hosts and were kind enough to cater for our early breakfasts. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated, with absolutely everything you could think of provided... Fabulous breakfasts!! We loved the location, which was within easy walking distance of the County Showground and a number of restaurants. The two we visited were also superb. Although there is no onsite parking, there is free overnight parking across the road from 6pm until 8 am and a carpark less than 5 minutes walk.

Great location with parking up the road. We had a rear facing room on a cooler night, so no issues for us. Great hosts and breakfast.

Nothing much - if you want to be picky then USB/USBC sockets would be handy to help reduce the numbers of chargers we all cart about.

Location in the middle of the high street perfect for exploring the town The room was exceptionally comfortable Tea and coffee and chilled water in the room with fresh milk in a fridge. Jocelyn and Karl were so helpful with local information about the town and where to eat. Lovely breakfast

It’s a bit noisy but that can’t be helped as it’s on the main road but I’m sure if it’s not the hottest summer on record you could close the windows. There’s no air conditioning but an effective fan. It was in the high 30s so difficult conditions for everyone

Karl was a perfect host, friendly and offering recommendations! He couldn’t do enough for us. The offer of a bacon sandwich on a hangover was much appreciated! The breakfast we had on the first morning was gorgeous and we could see his partner making it in the kitchen. Also can’t not mention Midas the chief guest welcomer! Gorgeous calm dog who loved a scratch.

The B&B itself was beautifully clean, spacious and comfortable, with everything we could have needed. You can really tell how much care and thought they put into making their guests feel welcome. A very friendly, warm and informative welcome from Karl who carried my case to my room to showed me my super comfy room and facilities. Karl and Jocelyn have thought of, and provided EVERYTHING you could possible need during your visit to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Little touches such as cold water and fresh milk in your little fridge to add to your drinks (coffee machine included!). The morning breakfast cooked by Jocelyn was absolutely delicious and combined with the fresh fruit, yogurts, toast, fruit juice; there is something for everyone. What a find! And I will certainly return.

If I had to pick something, if you are a light sleeper and are in one of the rooms facing the main road you may find this disturbs your sleep. But ear plugs would help and of course they provide these!

You read the reviews and you think, nah... there's no way on God's green earth that Jocelyn and Karl can be that nice, that professional, that accomodating, that much fun. But they are. Their place and everything about it is pristine. But you'll go back time and again for Jocelyn and Karl... Oh and Midas.

This was exactly what I needed; a relaxing and comfortable stay, in the centre of town with lovely hosts - plus a delicious breakfast in the morning!

Not much to improve on! The weather was super hot, and I was provided with fans, but one of them didn't work particularly well. It's not a complaint though!

Great hospitality and great location. House is beautiful, the bed was really comfy and breakfast was delicious - lots of options to choose from. Karl and Jocelyn are amazing hosts - really lovely, friendly and attentive!

Excellent breakfast with good range of options. The owner/host, Carl, was very helpful and was able to recommend nearby options for our evening meal.

We have no negative comments at all. We very much enjoyed our one night stay in Dorchester. We were able to visit the Thomas Hardy houses as planned, and Carl also most helpfully recommended a visit to the Roman Town House - a short walk from Westwood House - which we might otherwise have missed.

Owners were extremely welcoming, beds were very comfortable, and the location was perfect.

Our room was large, clean and comfortable, the owners were friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were excellent, with plenty of choice and we were well situated to enjoy the ambience of an attractive, old town.

Hard to fault, except that we were situated on a busy road and the sound of traffic passing day and night could be found to be disturbing.

For personal pleasure travel, we have stayed at B&B's and Inns all over the world. Westwood House ranks among our very favorite. This was actually our second stay at Westwood House since we have friends who live in Dorset, On each of our stays we found a spacious, pristine and charmingly decorated room with ensuite bathroom. The host owners, Karl & Jocelyn enhance your time in Dorchester by making you feel more like your friends than your innkeepers. A cheerfully served wonderful fully cooked breakfast rounds out a perfect stay. We especially liked Jocelyn's hollandaise sauce for the eggs benedict offerings.

Great location-parking just up the road, nice restaurants nearby; friendly hosts; lovely home cooked breakfast and a well appointed room.

Size of the room and the bed were great. Although I didn’t indulge myself, the offering of a variety of breakfasts is also a nice touch.

Smart, spacious, high ceilinged room in an historic town centre building with a large, comfy bed; massive bathroom and good shower. Our room (Room 1) was at the back of the property and, therefore, away from any traffic noise. Owners Karl and Jocelyn were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The breakfast choices were fabulous ranging from wonderful Porridge to lovely Eggs Benedict or a full English if you wanted it - all freshly cooked and served in a bright, welcoming 'garden' room. The owners offer recommendations for where to eat and may have discount offers for some restaurants, just ask.

Not a fault of the property, but just be aware that there is no on site parking possible - but the local council's Top O' The Town car park is just 5 minutes walk away at a cost of £6.40 for a 24 hour stay. Make sure you have the Just Park parking app set up on your phone so you can extend the parking/buy more time remotely.

Perfect from start to finish. Karl and Jocelyn made us feel extremely welcome. Room was spotless. Food was fresh and delicious. Nothing was too much trouble.

My stay at at Westwood House was great from the off!! I was greeted with Karl's friendly face and he instantly welcomed me, and carried my suit case to me room, couldn't have been more attentive. Accommodated my early breakfast with no problem at all.

The only thing i did't like was that fact that i got 'called out' to work and didn't have a chance to have more sleep in the fabulously comfortable bed!

Can t think off anything to be honest

Karl and Jocelyn are wonderful hosts, willing to help in any situation. Breakfast was always excellent and very flexible, covering every option. The guesthouse is very central, only a few minutes' walk from attractions, a perfect position and a welcome baae at the end of a day's sightseeing and travel. I would definitely recommend Westwood and stay here again!

My first stay at Westwood House and it was certainly wonderful, Karl & Jocelyn are fabulous hosts and nothing is too much trouble. I thoroughly enjoyed my 4 nights stay and have planned to stay again when I'm next there in March

The room was very well appointed, with everything needed for a very comfortable stay. It was close to the main shopping area, with a lovely restaurant about 6 doors away.

Lovely location. Comfy clean facilities and was close by. Karl and Jocelyn were brilliant hosts. Took excellent care in ensuring I was comfortable. Both provided sound advice about the area. Karl booked me taxis and even posted my purse to me which I left behind. Breakfast was superb. Parking close by. No issue at all.

The hotel's location in the centre of Dorchester was perfect for our week of exploring Dorchester and the rest of Dorset. Carl and Jocelyn, the proprietors, were very hospitable and looked after us so well. The rooms were excellent. Our room had a separate sitting area, which was much appreciated. The breakfasts were exceptional, with a great choice of hot and cold dishes. There were different items of fresh fruit every day, and this was a real treat.

Karl and Joycelyn were wonderful! Breakfast was excellent and set us up for a day walking. Bed was very comfortable. All in all a very excellent stay.

Absolutely excellent stay. I would even go so far as to say it was the best B&B/host experience I’ve ever had. I didn’t know hosts could make such a big difference to your stay, but I suppose I just hadn’t experienced a great one until now. From the start, Karl was extremely welcoming. He had excellent recommendations in the area and nearby the town, also great chat. The attention to detail in the room amenities was above and beyond. It was actually at hotel level and not what I expected from an intimate B&B: a great selection of tea, coffee, and small snacks; a little pamphlet about everything you can do in Dorchester; a very nice menu for breakfast; loved the art and interior design. The breakfast itself was absolutely delicious, made by the other co-host, Jocelyn, literally restaurant level! I can honestly say the trip was ten times better than it would have been because of the hosts and the place.

Our first time staying here and we will be going back soon. Karl and Jocelyn were superb hosts. The room was very comfortable and very clean, Breakfast was the best and nothing too much trouble. Location was perfect for our stay as well. Probably one of the best Hotels we have stayed in.

Great location for us when visiting friends and family in the area. Beautiful character building, modernised to a great standard. Our bed was very comfortable, and the room was very well equipped. The hosts, Karl and Jocelyn were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was in their lovely garden room and there was lots of choice. We would definitely recommend staying here. Perfect hosts and a perfect stay

The hosts are very welcoming, and the rooms are lovely. Westwood is located in the historic sector and many restaurants are an easy walk. The breakfast room is a light-filled conservatory, with many choices for healthy Continental options up to more robust meals. The hosts will offer advice on things to do and places to eat. It is walking distance from the train station, if that is your mode.

We had such a lovely stay at Westwood House! From the moment we arrived, we received a warm and friendly welcome from Karl and Jocelyn – and of course, their beautiful dog Midas, who was definitely the star of the show! He made our stay even more memorable - he makes a great front of house. Our rooms were clean, bright, and tastefully decorated – really comfortable and inviting. I also really appreciated the thoughtful touch of having oat milk provided in the room, which is quite rare and such a bonus for those of us who prefer plant-based options. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, with some really tasty vegan choices that were clearly made with care. The house itself is in a great location – perfect for exploring the local area. Overall, we had a fantastic time and would absolutely stay again. Highly recommended

My only complaint was that I wasn’t allowed to take Midas back to Bristol with me.

The owners of this place are awesome! So friendly, great great bfasts! Locations right in center of town. Just walked a block to a parking lot to catch or van x touring Dorset county. Restaurants, shopping near by. Wish we had more time to explore the area.
