Posizione a 15 minuti dalla costa e ideale per la visita della Jurassic Coast. Hotel di charme con ambienti comuni curati ed eleganti. La sala colazione è bellissima, si affaccia sul giardinetto ed ha la cucina a vista. Colazione curata in ogni aspetto. La sera è sede di un ottimo ristorante. Parcheggio interno gratuito ed ampio. Camera silenziosa.
Nulla di rilevante.
Staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself was well maintained, beautifully decorated throughout and the room was comfortable with a thoughtful layout. The location of the hotel was great for the purpose of our visit (to visit the Tutankhamun exhibition which was very close by) and the street was pretty. Would recommend!
Following a delicious dinner the night before, the focaccia dish that I ordered at breakfast was a little ambitious and tough in texture to eat.
Full of Character and very comfortable. The radio on classic in the room was a nice touch.
Location goid
Evening meal was disappointing for my wife she ordered fish and chips of which the fish was small, mostly thick batter and very greasy
Clean. Lots of character.
No air conditioning although did have fans which did the job. Had to call reception for an ironing board which was ok but at that price I’d prefer it was just in the room.
A beautiful hotel situated in the centre of Dorchester. Ideal for visiting family . Great that there is a large free carpark. A fridge was a great touch. Two chairs in the room. Staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us.
Liked everything
Good clean hotel, great shower and good location.
Would have preferred the room to be a little bigger
Comprehensive choice and good value. Carmen on reception was really good at making us feel welcome .
Nothing springs to mind
The location the style and feel of the hotel
Breakfast was not included but an extra
Good breakfast but no toast! Excellent staff. Good we got an upgrade
Rather warm in the dining room.
I loved the hotel itself. Coaching Inn which had been renovated in recent years. Beautiful interior and decor. Staff were very welcoming - dealt with Miriam on arrival and she went out of her way to be helpful. I loved the room I was allocated. Really spacious and I loved the little bar area. Loved the radio too - very soothing. It was so big and comfortable and had 2 fans to cool it down. Loved the decor and the shutters too. So very comfortable. I had a meal in the bar in the evening and it was good value for money and very good. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly including the bar staff. I would love to stay here again. Highly recommended. The best place I have stayed in for a long time.
My only suggestion is to have an anti slip mat in the shower. Perhaps there was one but I missed it.
stayed for one night while visiting family. Room was very comfortable, and the amenities in the room were great, spotlessly clean. Had both breakfast and dinner, both delicious. All staff very friendly and welcoming.
Everything this is a beautiful hotel
Nothing I didn’t like
Staff were friendly and upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised to have received an upgrade. Would stay again.
The location, room, bar, restaurant and outdoor terrace were perfect for me, and my experience was enhanced by the very welcoming, attentive and efficient staff.
From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. The staff allowed us to leave our bags before we hah checked in and after we checked out. Our room was lovely, especially the bathroom. All staff were friendly and happy. It was a real pleasure to stay. We had a evening meal the following evening, our compliments to the chef, it was delicious!
I really can't think of anything.
Our third stay at the Kings Arms, always enjoyable. We will always choose the Kings Arms when we visit Dorchester
I am so pleased I picked this hotel, it was easy to find, the staff were welcoming, the room was clean and spacious, it had everything I needed, the food was amazing, I only ate dinner there but plenty of choice on the menu. I would definitely book again
Very nice pet friendly hotel with free parking to the rear of the property .. Staff were very welcoming and the room was bigger than expected with a well stocked mini bar Really nice place to stay if your exploring near by , only 20mins to Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens which is well worth a visit. Breakfast and evening meals were very good with a nice bar area and garden to relax
Not much to see in the Town of Dorchester and like a lot of small Towns the high street seems to be struggling ( in my opinion ) but the hotel was really nice , Service was a little slow but to be fair there looked to be only 2 people rushing around doing the bar and reception so maybe they were short staffed on that day .
Both the Staff and the Kings Arms itself were truly superlative, the food of the highest quality. My partner and I both agreed we'd stay again in a heartbeat
Unbelievably bad experience. Bad steak dish and battered fish with virtually no fish in it. Breakfast was terrible, one had French breakfast, virtually no fruit with 1inch thick bread. My cooked breakfast was terrible! We both left it. Never go there again for anyone or recommend The Kings Arms to others.
I should have written this 3 weeks ago when my husband and I decided to have an inpromptu Sunday roast and ended up in Dorchester. The place we found was the Kings Arms. We were so impressed, I can't tell you. Lovely staff. Superb food. Really good quality locally sourced produce. They even have their own curing cabinet for specialist meats and were kind enough to give us a sample - outstanding. We'll be going back and i look forward to taking my mum and friends their. It's really great. Wouldn't know where you could go to beat their roast...superb!
Room was lovely AC was amazing, great staff, bar & breakfast was great, location was good, car parking adequate
Beautifully presented central hotel. Staff helpful and welcoming. Great place to explore Dorchester and surrounds. Would recommend Abbotsbury subtropical gardens and village. Beautiful coastline and countryside.
Very welcoming staff, excellent food and a comfortable room wth air conditioning. The breakfast was outstandingly good!
A real comfy ,classy place to stay and staff really look after you
Nothing
Great staff - very friendly and helpful. Rooms are good with air con and fans. Great location and enjoyable breakfast
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We brought along our dog and bowls, towel and a goody box had been provided in the room for him. We ate at the hotel one evening. The food was excellent, one of the best meals I’ve had this year. The breakfast was also extremely good. There is a really pleasant outside terrace where we could have a drink. The room was large and comfortable. Would definitely return.
The cleanliness, the cleaners do an amazing job, I caught them touching up my room at one point when I popped back during the day and this was a lovely touch. Can't thank them enough!
Going home! 😂
Lovely room - everything you could need and great central location in Dorchester. Only issue was caused by the heat wave. No air conditioning but hotel had gone out of its way to buy lots of extra fans. Still hard to get a good night’s sleep.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing and reasonably priced and the hotel was a great central location in Dorchester. Our stay was during the heatwave and we stayed in a Cosy Double room which did not have air-conditioning, however a fan was provided by the hotel but our room was incredibly hot and sleeping at night was difficult. However, we enjoyed our time at the hotel and would highly recommend staying there.
Fantastic staff, friendly and helpful. The 'Snug' room we booked was bigger than expected, very comfortable, well equipped and beautifully decorated. The food, served in a lovely spacious dining room, was a work of art and delicious. Love the hotel decor. Thank you for a wonderful holiday. We will be back.
It was really, really hot and I had a lovely air-conditioned room at The King's Arms in Dorchester, so top marks just for that. It was a lovely space with a little desk and a shower that was incredibly refreshing. The only downside was the view out of the window, but there isn't much that can be done about that. The egg and mushrooms on toast that I had for breakfast were rather good as well.
The King's Arms is the hotel to stay at in Dorchester. A lovely period property, tastefully refurbished. As weather was really hot, we appreciated the air-con (rooms facing High St have air-con). Breakfast was great as was dinner. Staff helpful and friendly. Hotel is in great location for exploring this lovely town. Ample parking at rear for guests. Nice option to have outdoor area for drinks, or dining. Only downside there was this area could benefit from sweeping up of leaves, cleaning of paving and outdoor metal furniture was tired/chipped.
This is the first time we've stayed at the Kings Arms, but we'll certainly be back. We average around 15 hotel stays in England per year, and this is a little gem. The level of service was excellent. I was particularly impressed that the staff and manager went out of their way to find a particular bottle of wine we had requested but which was not listed. Lots to see and visit in the area and we certainly recommend Athelhampton House and Garden.
Inventive and delicious- beautifully presented
The room was a little warm - hard to open the window sufficiently but effort was made to install fans.
The hotel does what it says on the tin. Room was great. We asked for a quiet room at the back, which was great the first night. Second night was interrupted by a baker’s delivery van at 4.00 am. We took this up with reception the next morning. Breakfast was fabulous both days. We ate in the restaurant on both evenings. The dishes are of good gastro-pub quality and portions are generous. Wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. Overall, recommended and we would stay here again.
Lovely old building in true character of an old English Town
Nothing
Been coming here for 50 years + Latter years have had that quirky fun feel. This visit was just brilliant-the room was great. Everything well thought out and I mean EVERYTHING( fresh milk in the fridge? When did you last get that??)
Nothing
We had a wonderful time, the staff were welcoming, the room was spotless, the food was really good and we will definitely be back soon! Highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Dorchester.
Everything perfect. V comfy bed. Fluffy towels. Fresh milk in the fridge ( Who does that? Not many!) Fab cuisine.
Comfortable bed, lovely toiletries
Bedroom backed on to the car park where there were very noisy local children playing and one screeched incessantly
The hotel is nice enough but, having asked for a quiet room, I was woken at 3 am by loud banging and scraping of furniture below my room which went on for an hour
Food was exceptional
The bedrooms were great, big , modern and very well appointed. Great attention to detail. A very pleasant surprise!
We arrived on Friday and stayed three nights. The room was excellent, clean and spacious. The hotel is right in the middle of Dorchester, with parking. We dined in the restaurant each night in addition to breakfast. The food is really great & suffering from an intolerance, I was catered for, nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend the Kings Arms. Katie
Lovely original hotel in the old town of Dorchester, lived up to expectation and a easy restful start to exploring Thomas Hardy 's countrside.
Location super, right in town centre, rooms comfortable, clean and roomy. Car park at back great asset.
Nothing, it was short stay, arrived 10pm left 8-30am so didn’t see much, but all very good 👍
Great place to stay whilst working away from home. This will be the fifth time I've used the hotel and would highly recommend. Great service and friendly staff.
We were a reunion of 8 at the Kings Arms, none of us having been there before. We were delighted by the hotel itself, its ambience, its facilities and by the staff who worked there. We had an enjoyable dinner at the hotel on our first night, slightly marred for 2 of us by the unannounced substitution of one fish by another, but that was sorted out satisfactorily. The breakfast was comprehensive and to suit all palates and dietary requirements. The bedroom had all the facilities we needed, particularly the small low level illumination which came on automatically when using the bathroom at night so as not to disturb the sleeping partner. There is adequate parking on site (although we came by train).
We had a lovely stay at the King's Arms, service was excellent, as was dinner. The room was lovely and really well appointed, best shower I've ever had in a hotel by far!
Lovely stop over in the Kings Arms, very friendly staff, comfy room full of extra touches. Great to have parking behind the hotel right in the centre.
Every part of the hotel is beautiful. Room superb. Ever member of staff from reception to bar to catering were so friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this boutique hotel to anyone and would not look anywhere else to stay if we were visiting Dorchester again . Thankyou so much for a wonderful stay . ♥️
Good location, room was quiet (we were not on the main road but down the side of the hotel), no view, but will sacrifice that for a good nights sleep. Room/hotel was very clean/chambered. B/fast was well appointed with some of the more unusual choices (ie kippers - excellent!). Devilled kidneys would take it up a level!!! One of the best bars in town - could do with a better selection of real ales - but the kegs were good. Not cheap but good VFM based on performance, cost and time.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the King's Arms in Dorchester. We received a warm welcome when we got to reception and that followed through to the whole of our stay. We took our dog and they were very accommodating. We will be back again
Car park great and good position
I stayed for 3 nights as part of a group of 6. The hotel is beautifully restored; both the public spaces and the rooms offer a perfect blend of historic character and modern comforts. If you appreciate interior design, you'll enjoy this hotel! The staff were friendly and unfailingly helpful, and the food (breakfast, nibbles, and dinners) was excellent. I will definitely stay here again.
Amazing! Friendly, warm greeting on arrival by the lovely staff member at reception; fantastic room, comfortable bed, all amenities, coffee pod in room, quality teas, fabulous soap, handcream, body wash. Fluffy towels. Just wonderful. Free parking was a bonus.
Excellent breakfast. We booked through Booking.com which did not include breakfast. The host mentioned breakfast was included if booked directly with the hotel. Either way, don’t miss breakfast. Our floors creaked with the sound of well worn wood. The bathroom was large with a full bath. Exposed, painted beams in the ceiling. What a wonderful, old English feeling.
Our room faced the main road in Dorchester but the double windows allowed little road noise to enter the room.
All the staff we interacted with from reception, events, housekeeping, bar, restaurant across the whole hotel were polite, efficient and helpful. Julian and team really made the family meal in the Casterbridge room run so smoothly and admire his incredible patience with us all. It was a heatwave and our bedroom didn’t have air con so only minor downside.
We had a great stay apart from the difficulty in sleeping. The room was nice, the food was good and the staff were all friendly and helpful. But the amount of light leaking in to the room overnight was unacceptable. Pleated curtains allowed early morning daylight to pour in to the room. And an ill fitting door was silhouetted through the night from the corridor light outside. It is a great shame when a hotel does so much right but lets itself down in one fundamental respect by a lack of attention to detail.
It was very charming. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Food was very good.
The breakfast was great each morning. I tried something different daily.
The outdoor dining area / courtyard could have been better maintained. Despite the wet weather, I would have sat outside more.
Really lovely hotel room very clean and comfortable excellent large shower! We ate here both nights and food was very tasty, breakfast was perticually good lots of choice and cooked fresh to order!
We've stayed at other hotels in the Stay Original group previously and The King's Arms didn't disappoint. Characterful and tastefully decorated rooms, impeccable service (a special mention to Carmel for answering all our pre-stay enquiries so quickly) and a wonderful breakfast and dinner.
A gorgeous hotel in Dorchester, with beautiful rooms and a luxury feel. We stayed here for our wedding and the staff were amazing. It's also perfectly situated for exploring Dorchester, and the breakfast is superb.
An old hotel with the rooms tastefully renovated and decorated. Unusual and welcome air conditioning in our room and a good pressure shower. Room clean and tidy, only criticism is it had steps from the bed area to the bathroom which could easily be lit as a safety feature during the night. Even though I was conscious they were there, because it was dark I inadvertently stepped on the corner tripping down them. Good bar area albeit we were charged 2 different amounts for exactly the same round of drinks and the barmaid was not knowledgeable about drinks. Dining and breakfast was good. Service generally friendly and a good atmosphere. Overall, thought the accommodation was relatively expensive.
Amazing location in the centre of Dorchester. Clean, modern and very comfortable room. Lovely addition of a doggy gift box and towel in the room. Food is divine - I had breakfast and dinner. Friendly and attentive staff. Couldnt fault it, would definitely return!
Rooms were immaculate
Fabulous period building. Beautiful rooms, which were spotlessly clean. All the staff were smart, courteous and efficient. Parking was excellent and the food was as good as you’d expect in a good restaurant. Absolutely everything was excellent.
I could not fault anything.
This was the second time that my wife and I have stayed at the King’s arms and this time we were pleasantly surprised to find that we had been upgraded. The restaurant food is of good quality and reasonably priced but we felt that the DBB food allowance at £40 per room rather miserly as it doesn’t really cover two main courses these days. All the staff we dealt with were friendly and efficient. The hotel is centrally located in Dorchester near the excellent museum/art gallery and bus stops with regular services to Weymouth, Poundbury and no doubt many other places.
Nothing - they were all very helpful
We took over all of the rooms in the hotel for wedding next door. Fantastic hotel, very friendly, supportive and professional staff. Perfect, thanks
Stayed here for two nights and it certainly won't be my last stay. Lovely hotel, with very friendly staff and much needed car parking. Breakfast was a real joy, the food was excellent. Room was nice with a lovely spacious bathroom and shower.
A great find! Wonderful stay in a great hotel. Incredibly professional and friendly staff who work extremely hard in all parts of the hotel. Very conveniently placed to explore. Added bonus it had a car park. Loved it!
Lovely room, good food and charming staff. Great value overnight stay and strongly recommended. Thank you!
Great location and amenities. Tasty breakfast and friendly staff. The bed was so comfortable!!
I was put in a room where i had to go up and down flights of stairs to reach it in addition to an elevator. The sink water came out only scalding. Despite that really enjoyed my stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the King's Arms in Dorchester, in fact, the hotel exceeded our expectations. We loved the décor in the hotel and our room was just perfect. All the staff were lovely, they were helpful, friendly and professional. The food in the restaurant was excellent and we wish we had access to food of that quality in Cheshire!
Great hotel, very friendly staff. Very comfortable room and great food. Plenty of car parking. Very comfortable seating area and welcoming bar.
Great hotel in the town centre. The staff, food and accommodation exceeded our expectations. The hotel has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere with a gentle buzz. We really enjoyed our stay and would dearly like the hotel group to open a new one in Cheshire! We’ve nothing as good anywhere near us!
Very Good
We had two meals in the Resturant, the breakfast was excellent and I cannot fault it. The evening meal we had was disappointing. My Venison curry was cold and needed reheating. My wife had the lamb which was very fatty and just not that nice. I was also not very hot. We run a business and have a food hygine rating. I can only assume the meals were prepared and not heated up enough which is just not acceptable. We did not make that much of a fuss about the meals as were on holiday and wanted to enjoy our even.
It has been superbly redecorated and refurbished. The new(ish) owners are interior designers apparently, and it shows.
Just asked my partner who confirms ‘there was nothing we didn’t like’. And that ‘the kippers were excellent’.
Food was lovely. Bed was comfy.
Food and drink lovely but expensive.
I had a wonderful stay at the Kings Arms Hotel in Dorchester and was genuinely blown away by the service. Karin in particular was exceptional. She kindly arranged a meal and coffee to my room and organised a takeaway breakfast the next morning as I had to leave early. That level of care made a real difference. I had also hosted my dad’s 70th birthday at the hotel the night before and the team were fantastic throughout, making the evening feel very special. The room was beautiful, with lovely features including a freestanding bath. This was my second stay and I would definitely return.
Fabulous hotel in the centre of Dorchester. Lots of little luxurious touches in the room - fluffy towels, choice of pillows, fresh milk and tea/coffee facilities as well as some Easter chocolate! Super welcoming and helpful staff, plenty of car parking to the rear, great restaurant - fresh cooked breakfast to supplement a small but delicious buffet. And great coffee!
Great location in Dorchester, really old hotel with history , great atmosphere in the evening in the bar, rooms really comfortable. Food was excellent, breakfast was fantastic
Nothing
It was all good, lovely big room, shower good, they gave you good soap, shampoo and even a dental kit if you forgot your own. Restaurant good for both breakfast and dinner. Location fantastic and parking right in the middle of town. Plenty to see and do around the area and places to drive to not far away. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Very comfortable rooms warm welcome very clean and well appointed room. Bed extremely comfortable as were pillows and slept really well - soft white fluffy towels. Lots of care seems to have been taken to make your stay a comfortable one. Very warm welcome from staff.
Lovely, classy hotel. Well-trained staff. Reception and breakfast staff are a credit to the establishment. As is the chef. Central, but quiet location. Well-appointed rooms. Small point : carefully check what is, and what isn't free, on the hospitality tray. It can be confusing as little bottles of water are usually free.
Excellent independent small chain hotel in historic olde world building. Staff are lovely, the rooms are cozy and very clean. few rooms are the same, all slightly different. Food cooked to order and is excellent. Bar has good range of draught beers & lagers, Butcombe Best is....best. Small car park behind the hotel. Centrally located in Dorchester so ideal if you want to walk the town.
All the staff friendly and helpful. Food delicious, great bar & coffee served throughout the day. Room very clean and comfortable, Will definitely stay again!
The hotel is comfortable and warm. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is good.
Having an fast 150KW EV charger in the car park.
The hotel is very sympathetically updated and refurbished. The décor is block colour with tonal accents from secondary furnishings and suits the age and architecture of the building. It has a quiet ambiance that makes you feel at home. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. The hotel is warm and the bar pleasant. The food was very good.
Nice enough hotel, was upgraded to a fancy room, nothing fancy about it although it had a nice bathroom. Room exceedingly hot, no fan provided, difficult to sleep. Floors so squeaky, the neighbours upstairs sounded like a heard of elephants and probably were not that heavy on their feet at all. Bar really busy, not really welcoming. Highlight was the breakfast, this was outstanding, huge portions and nothing was too much for them, breakfast staff and cook superb!
