Friendly staff. Beautiful area.

Road noise. New staff in restaurant require training.

It is a good place for a break. The staff were excellent, and the food was good for dinner and breakfast.

They can't do much about the road noise, but they can address the bright lights shining into the rooms at night. One of the rooms we used had no windows, making it a bit difficult to get fresh air.

It’s a shame that we felt chased out of the dining room after dinner by our waitress who was yawning and leaning on the reception desk in a manner that clearly indicated her desire for us to finish up and leave

Well maintained despite the building itself being quite an old one. Comfortable bed, good amount of space in the room. Very friendly staff!

We had a warm welcome when we arrived and then had a lovely dinner in the on-site restaurant. Breakfast the next morning was fantastic after which we enjoyed a walk on the farm between the olive trees and pomegranate trees. The room was lovely with everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable and we especially enjoyed the pomegranate juice that comes from the area. It is a beautiful guesthouse with beautiful and warm people that made our stay here very memorable. We would love to come back!

I was travelling with ouma, 91 yrs old. From the word go everyone was so accomodating! Nina and Magda were exellent hosts and made us/her so comfortable. Even had dinner in the warmth of our beautiful room. Thank you so much!!

I loved the peaceful feel of being at a farm - a grove of pecan trees to wander in, led by a friendly cat, and a little lemon tree just outside my room. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. At the restaurant, I got the best pecan tart I ever ate. Pomegranate juice for breakfast!

Great accommodation. Not in main 4 room house but in single storey building. Deluxe, spacious rooms with individual outside large porch. Wonderful restaurant!

The main 4 room accommodation building is close to the main road. I would suggest the suites where we stayed closer to Reception. Just fabulous.

Het enige min-puntje is het geluid van de snelweg. Nu hadden wij de prachtige zolderkamer, dus die is wat gehoriger.

The overall setting and atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent.

A little too close to the road meaning vehicles could be heard disturbing what was otherwise a lovely tranquil setting. The listing could say more about what else is within range such as Swellendam’s well regarded 9 hole golf course and Bontebok National Park.

We really enjoyed every aspect of our stay.

The gentleman named Koenie at the reception was amazingly accommodating and friendly. We were showing Canadian friends of ours the country and think he was the perfect host to start off with. The food in the restaurant was well prepared and scrumptious right down to the last crumb, a verdict from the full party of four. Our waitress Ciska was absolutely on the ball and waited on us on beck and call. She definitely rounded off our evening. What an amazing venue and our Canadian friends were completely taken a back by the experience.

There wasn't anything not to like

What an amazing place to stay! We were looked after from the second we arrived, to the time we left! The cherry on the top was the fact that the Country Estate we decided to stay at was the Pomegranate Farm my favorite sparkling juice comes from, so a big bonus for me! Highly recommend & so central to visit other wine farms in the area.

Wir waren eine Nacht bei Jan Harmsgat auf der Durchreise. Das Anwesen ist sehr schön und das Essen im Restaurant ist sehr gut. Der Pool lädt zum entspannen und verweilen ein. Eine sehr schöne Unterkunft.

Leider ist die Lage sehr nah an der Strasse, und die Lastwägen/Autos waren etwas laut.

Die Lage war einfach nur genial. Sehr ruhig und der Natur verbunden. Das Anwesen hat auch einen super coolen alten Kolonialstil, der uns sehr gut gefallen hat. Die Managerin hatte stets ein offenes Ohr und war sehr hilfsbereit.

Leider ging bei uns das Warmwasser nicht. Die Mitarbeiter waren nicht sehr freundlich.

Room 9: - spacious room - nice big bath and shower with a separate toilet for privacy - Very comfortable king size bed with good quality linen - Decorated in a style that is appropriate for the old farm vibe - Smart tv with access to streaming services - Aircon - Only con: shared a wall with the neighbouring unit and is not very sound proof. You can hear your neighbours talking. - Tip: Visitor information in the room could be useful (eg. Map of the venue; restaurant menu; things to do in the area etc) Restaurant: - lovely civilised indoor dinning room with an outside area overlooking the gardens. - Food and drinks are good value for money. - Limited gluten free options. - Menu and quality of food is fair and usual for a South African restaurant. I would have expected something of slightly better standards for the nature of the venue. Grounds: - Many big beautiful trees and lots of flowers. - The gardens are well maintained and a joy to walk around. - Pleasant pool area with comfortable sun loungers. - Pool is relatively shallow which allows the water to warm up quickly - Con: the venue is alongside a busy main road which is very noisy. The constant sounds of road traffic can be a bit much for those who are trying to relax - it sadly drowns out the sounds of nature. Service: - all staff were friendly and welcoming Website says 5 star, but the Booking.com rating of 4 star is probably more appropriate

Country feeling

This was a five star experiences ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The friendly staff made so much effort for my dog and I . The room was superb, from the soft towels to flowers in the room , complementary water and great ground coffee for the next morning. The food in the restaurant was quite an experience-cuisine style! Thank you team , I will definitely be back.

It was ok. The restaurant is good, the rooms are also good. We couldn't get the tv to work. Pool, nice but no towels.

The setting is beautiful and peaceful, with lovely gardens and open spaces. The fillet steak I had on my first and last evenings was excellent, and the fresh pomegranate juice at breakfast was a highlight. The property is also genuinely dog-friendly, which is increasingly hard to find. My dog absolutely loved the space and had the best time exploring, which really helped make the stay more enjoyable on a personal level.

Communication needs significant improvement. Despite the property being aware that Google Maps often sends guests to the wrong location, no clear directions or location pin were sent in advance. I ended up on the wrong road, which resulted in damage to my car. I later overheard the same issue happening to another guest, so this is clearly not an isolated incident. There was also no advance communication about a large Christmas lunch event being hosted, nor the option to opt in or out, which affected dining availability and the overall atmosphere. I had to change rooms due to a non-functioning toilet that made loud noises throughout the night. There were several maintenance and cleanliness issues, including a dripping shower, a cleaning cloth left in the shower, cobwebs on windowsills, and linen that did not feel fresh. Some rooms are also extremely dark. Service in the restaurant was slow and inattentive, and room service took a long time even for simple orders. Breakfast was disappointing and did not meet expectations for a four-star establishment.

Lovely rooms , altho we'd booked 7, and got 8. But just as lovely. Loved all the cats about!

Hubbies food was all delicious, my fish and crunchy veggies was too, but the pea puree was soooooooo peppery. Breakfast lovely but again the Hollandaise was like a pepper sauce. Not good with delicate salmon.

The property has incredible potential. We are very happy to hear that the team is busy with some new ideas and a veg garden etc.

Loved the area, the staff were amazing, the food at the restaurant was superb. The Tigger cat the next morning on my lap was an absolute treat.

The room we stayed in is in dire need of some maintenance. The curtains also hung badly on the rails and look like they need a wash. I am pedantic about this sort of detail at the price we paid.

The location is so beautiful! Really restful and very green. The rooms were beautiful with luxurious linen to sleep on. Fridge was well-stocked. And the restaurant had wonderful meals! There was even a very friendly cat rubbing up to us!

The property is gorgeous and well maintained, but more than that the staff are the real stars! Thanks to Mazanne & Jaco for their support and creativity in planning our engagement.

We loved the garden with its orchards, our lovely room, the great food and also especially Jaco and the brilliant caring staff made our stay and a birthday weekend extra special. I will be back and really recommend this special space
